Hello, again, everyone. Welcome to the next chapter of Doctor Who: Companions of Time. In our journey, we've made it through to September, and you know what that means! We're almost through with the fic. And because of this, since we're all back at work or school, it's time for The Doctor and companions to face a foe deadlier than the money-grabbing-company boss, a being scarier than your new horrible teachers, and a monstrosity more vocally annoying than your parents asking how your first day went. I am of course, referring to the menace known as…The Daleks! But if that's not enough to get you pumped, then our current back-up feature starring all the incarnations of The Doctor has reached the modern-day series and in our current chapter's back-up, we take a look at the 9th Doctor and Rose as when last we saw them at the end of last month's chapter, they had been taken from right after the episode 'Dalek' and thrust to another place without Adam onboard the TARDIS. Where will our heroes end up? Read on to find out! And I own NOTHING. This is for Fan-Purpopses only, so please DON'T sue! Other than that, enjoy.
…
Previously…
The Doctor is an Alien; the last of his race. He travels through time and space in his TARDIS armed only with his trusty sonic screwdriver, and fights the greatest evils this universe has created. Though he usually travels alone, he often shares his adventures with one or more companions.
…
The TARDIS…
The Companions and The Doctor held onto the TARDIS control console as the ship finally landed. The group sighed with relief as The Doctor tried to get the TARDIS viewscreen working.
"Where have we landed?!" Simon asked.
"Not sure." The Doctor admitted, "The scanner seems to be broken."
"So how are we gonna figure out where we are?!" Alfred asked.
"By looking outside." The Doctor replied simply.
The group stepped outside and found themselves on a planet that had a blue sky, and a landscape filled with destroyed stone buildings, which had left grass to grow in some of the cracks left in the destroyed areas.
"Strange…" The Doctor said, rubbing his chin.
"What is it, Doctor?" Alokia asked.
"Can't help but feel as if I've been here before." The Doctor noted.
"You've been here before?" Simon asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I feel as if I have." The Doctor admitted, "But it must have been so long ago…as if this were an entirely different place completely…"
He shrugged, "Maybe if we take a little walk around I'll remember better."
The group walked along a stone road on a grassy field until they reached a small beach. Yet the beach seemed very peculiar because in the middle of the beach was a large hole in the ground as if something had been drilling into there for quite some time.
"Oh no…" The Doctor whispered.
"What?!" Alfred asked, "What is it?!"
"Oh dear…" The Doctor said, with a look of horror on his face, "I think this is a big uh-oh for us…"
"Why?!" Elfrieda asked, "What is it?!"
"We're on Skaro…" The Doctor whispered, "The planet of The Daleks. And it looks the same way it did many years ago…"
Suddenly, the sand beneath Alokia and Elfrieda's feet shifted downwards as they fell through the sand.
"Alokia!" The Doctor screamed, "Elfriedia!"

On the Surface of Skaro...
"Doctor?!" Alfred asked, "What happened to them?! Where's Alokia and Elfrieda?!"
"Pulled bellow us!" The Doctor exclaimed, checking the points from which the two girls had been sucked down with his sonic screwdriver, "Fortunately, the sonic screwdriver seems to be detecting some small pockets of oxygen down there, so that's a good thing. On the other hand…"
"On the other hand what, Doctor?" Simon asked.
"On the other hand there could be Daleks down there." The Doctor explained.
"You told us about them once before with the Rani incident, Doctor." Simon noted, "What are The Daleks, exactly?"
"The Daleks were a group of alien beings from this planet," The Doctor explained, "They had a great war and were left for dead until their planet's greatest scientist, Davros, made a plan to mutate the near-dead species and put them into metal casings, while wiping ever single emotion out of them save for hate. Therefore, The Daleks were programed with the single goal of exterminating all life in the universe that wasn't a Dalek. Eventually, they waged war against my people and thus resulted in the last Great Time War which wiped away my species."
"You couldn't kill them then?" Alfred asked.
"I tried, Alfred," The Doctor sighed, "I thought I'd kill them off, but some Daleks managed to escape the war and eventually rebuilt themselves stronger than ever. No matter what I do, I'm never able to rid myself of them. Even when I supposedly made this whole planet unlivable before the war. That was a day-and-a-half."
"Wait," Simon asked, "What do you mean 'unlivable?'"
"The Daleks tried to recover something my people used called 'The Hand of Omega.' The Doctor explained, "It's a device my people used to generate Stars. The Daleks and Davros tried to get their hands on it, but fortunately I managed to change the frequency on the Hand of Omega and made Skaro's sun go supernova, changing the planet's living conditions to make it unlivable to the Daleks with the technology they had then."
"So how did it all go back to a planet that seems perfectly livable to us?!" Alfred asked.
"No idea." The Doctor admitted, "It should be a mass red canyon with Dalek buildings and a giant Dalek Statue with a weather condition of raining sulfuric acid. Not the kind of rain you'd want to be singing in."
"Agreed." Simon nodded, "So let's put our heads together and try to save our friends!"
"Right." The Doctor nodded, getting up and motioning for the two young men to follow him, "Now if I remember correctly, there should be a way down below somewhere near here…"
….
Meanwhile, Underground…
Alokia and Elfrieda groaned as they got up wobbly. They had fallen down from the sand and felt as if they had a massive headache.
"What…" Elfrieda asked weakly, "What happened?"
"I don't know, Elfrieda," Alokia said, taking her friend's hand and looking around cautiously, "But I don't like the looks of this. The Doctor said we were on Skaro, and that means that where Skaro is, The Daleks can't be far behind."
"What are Daleks?" Elfrieda asked.
"Trust me." Alokia stated, "You don't want to know."
Even before she had encountered The Doctor, Alokia knew about The Daleks from the stories her people told her. The Daleks, like The Doctor, had often interfered in Time, although unlike The Doctor, The Daleks were pure evil and wanted to exterminate all life that wasn't pure Dalek. Alokia would have nightmares about them and didn't know what she would do if she ever came into contact with one.
The two tried to move, but it was very dark save for the small cracks of light from above, and something told the both of them that it wasn't going to get easier anytime sooner.
Suddenly, the two heard something as they stopped.
"What was that?" Elfrieda asked.
"I don't know." Alokia admitted, "But something tells me it's not good."
Before she could elaborate, the wall to the right of them burst open revealing a group of white-and-gold colored Daleks who all began chanting 'Ex-Ter-Mi-Nate!' Alokia and Elfrieda tried to run, but found a second group of Daleks colored red and black cut off their exit from behind, trapping them between the two Daleks.
Elfrieda was held close to Alokia as one of the white-and-gold Daleks moved towards them.
"You-will-come-with-us, and-follow-my-direc-tions!" The Dalek declared.
"And if we don't?!" Elfrieda asked.
"Then-you-will-be-ex-ter-mi-nat-ed!" The Dalek said.
Alokia and Elfrieda sighed, seeing no other alternative and began to follow The Dalek down the corridor, hoping The Doctor, Simon and Alfred would be there to help soon.
…
Meanwhile, by a vent leading underground…
The Doctor moved a little rock as a ventilation entrance leading underground was revealed.
"There we go…" The Doctor smiled, "It's just like I left it that time when I was with Romana."
Simon and Alfred were about to ask what The Doctor meant, but were soon cut off when he slid down after a quiet 'Geronimo!' Soon after he had slid out of sight, there was the faint sound of two feet landing.
"It's okay…" The Doctor's voice called, "Come on down!"
Simon and Alfred slid down and landed next to him.
"Now what?" Alfred asked.
"Now," The Doctor whispered, "Let's get going before…"
"Doc…Tor?" A weak-yet-mechanical voice asked.
The Doctor froze as he turned around, his male companions following him closely. The voice was coming from an open corridor behind them and The Doctor was looking at the opening horrified.
"No…" He declared, "It can't be…"
"Doc…Tor…" The voice repeated, "Is that you?"
The Doctor walked into the corridor as lights began flickering on and off, revaling piles of junk scattered around them.
Finally, they saw the source of the voice.
It was an old tan man with some kind of blue third eye in his forehead, wearing a black long sleeved leather top, as the lower part of his body was a Dalek casing from his torso down. The being was currently pinned down by a couple of scaffoldings as well as rocks, but The Doctor knew him too well.
"Back!" The Doctor declared, "It's Davros!"
"Doc…Tor…" Davros called, "Wait! I…I know what's happened…"
"I'm sure you do." The Doctor sneered, "Why should I listen to you?"
"Because…" The Dalek creator groaned, "They have The Eye of Time…"
The Doctor froze as he stopped.
"That's not possible." He whispered.
"It is…" Davros insisted.
"What's The Eye of Time, Doctor?" Alfred asked.
"The Eye of Time is a device that has more power than any TARDIS and was harnessed by The Daleks many years ago." The Doctor explained, "I thought that I'd been able to stop The Daleks from using it years ago."
"My children created a new one using a Temporal Universe Shard…" Davros explained, "They created a rebuilt Skaro and pulled me here to extract my knowledge."
"And The Daleks will be able to create a new army." The Doctor said, scared now more than ever.
"Not quite, Doctor." Davros corrected, "I have a way of stopping them, but I require the assistance of you and your two companions."
"You and us teaming up?" The Doctor scoffed, "Sorry, Davros. I don't think so."
"I overheard some Daleks saying that they had captured two more of your companions." Davros stated, "Do you wish to see them fall?"
The Doctor groaned, clearly aggravated by this turn of events.
"Without my help, they will die." Davros stated, "The Daleks have managed to create more tunnels and only I can provide an access map to lead you to them in time."
"FINE!" The Doctor yelled, moving back towards him, "We'll work together, Davros. But know this; me and my companions will be keeping a close eye on you."
"Likewise, Doctor." Davros replied, "This is not something I enjoy doing, but The Daleks cannot be allowed to roam freely with The Eye of Time like this."
The Doctor and his companions pulled the debries off Davros until he was free. Then they propped him back upwards as The Doctor took out his sonic screwdriver.
"Let me just see if there's anything else that needs repairing." The Doctor said.
"What happened to The Daleks?" Simon asked, "Aren't you supposed to be their creator? Shouldn't they be listening to you?"
"When my creatures found the Temporal Universe Shard and created the new Eye of Time," Davros explained, "They did not have the proper shielding to resist the full potential of the Eye of Time. It drove them mad, and now they plan to use it to make everything in every time a Dalek."
"And that should be good for you, right?" Alfred asked curiously, "For a guy whose goals is making everything Daleks, you sound resistant to this plan."
"I admit that I am no saint," Davros told them, "But I am still a man of science and logic. And if The Daleks send themselves throughout time and space irrationally as they are now, it would cause a paradox of great proportions. I might not even exist if this is not stopped. I cannot allow this to happen."
The Doctor then put his sonic screwdriver away as he looked at his old foe.
"So what do you have in mind of stopping them?" The Doctor asked.
"When The Daleks captured me…" Davros stated, "They tried to extract some knowledge of my brain. However, I managed to keep hold of an override sequence that will allow me to shut down The Daleks. The only problem is that I must execute this virus near the Eye of Time, as it will take a tremendous amount of power to use."
"And what of our friends?" Simon asked.
"You friends are being held in a chamber to be converted into Daleks." Davros explained, "It is back through the hallway you came in through. Walk down three miles and make a right. Continue going for about ten more miles and then make a left and you will be within the Dalek Conversion Chamber."
"I'll take Davros to the Eye of Time." The Doctor explained to Alfred and Simon, "You two just get Alokia and Elfrieda back safely."
"Stay safe, Doctor." Simon said before running off.
"I see that your companions have changed as often as your face and irrationality has, Doctor." Davros stated.
"I never change, Davros." The Doctor said as they began moving through the hallway, "I know you're still up to no good and I'll be ready for when you spring a trap."
…...
Skaro Conversion Chamber…
Alokia and Elfrieda waited in a line that was filled with humanoid-like creatures dressed in either tan or white futuristic-styled clothes, as they marched forward upon the command of the Daleks surrounding them. The Daleks had forbade them to talk to one another, and to set an example, one of the humanoids was shot when he called out, in his curiosity.
"So who are these people?" Elfrieda asked, as quietly as she could.
"I think these are supposed to be the Kaleds and Thals." Alokia whispered, keeping an eye on the Daleks ahead who were exchanging information of some kind, "From what I've read about the history of the Daleks, they were apparently some of the few lucky enough to survive this big war that happened many years ago which resulted in the eventual creation of the Daleks."
"Shouldn't they be really old, then?"
"Elfrieda," Alokia whispered, "From what I know, these people shouldn't even be alive. The Doctor apparently devastated Skaro many years ago, so that even the Daleks couldn't live there without certain protection."
Elfie was about to ask what Alokia meant by The Doctor devastating an entire planet, when one of The Daleks moved towards them, waving their manipulator arm around. The two females kept quiet, waiting to hear what the Dalek had to say.
"You have mentioned the devastation of our planet." The Dalek declared, "You will explain how you know these events! EXPLAIN! EXPLAIN!"
"Don't you remember what happened?" Alokia asked, giving Elfrieda an assuring look to let her know that she knew what she was doing.
"We have only loose information." The Dalek answered, "It is known that our planet was wiped clean many years ago by an individual. The identity of this one who destroyed the planet Skaro before we resurrected it is unknown. You will answer who it is!"
"You really don't remember?" Alokia stated, "How can you expect to rule everything if you don't know who did it?"
Elfrieda suddenly got the idea and looked at The Dalek more confidently.
"She's right." Elfrieda stated, "For a group of beings that claim to be the most superior race in all the galaxy, finding out the problem to how your planet got destroyed should be priority #1 on your 'To-Do-List.'"
"YOU WILL TELL US WHO!" The Dalek Declared, "WHO IS IT?"
"I know the answer!" A new voice called out.
Everyone turned to see a familiar face that Elfrieda and Alokia were happy to see.
"Alfred!" The two females exclaimed.
"Who are you?" The Dalek near the conversion door chamber demanded, "You will identify yourself!"
"I'm just a traveler…" Alfred stated, stepping down and putting both his hands into his pants pockets, "That's all."
"You will be taken in line for Dalek Conversion!" The Dalek commanded, "Or you will be Ex-Ter-Mi-Nat-Ed!"
"Yeah." Alfred chuckled, "Not gonna happen."
The Daleks prepared their guns to fire at Alfred, but for some reason, they could not fire their guns.
"Alert!" The Daleks declared, "Something is blocking our fire!"
"That would be me." Simon declared, stepping into the room while holding onto his plain wand gadget, "Everyone; RUN!"
Everyone did so, as Alfred pulled out two purple battery-like devices and threw them at The Daleks before following everyone else out.
"ALERT!" The Dalek closest to the purple battery-like devices declared, "Sensors indicate unstable electronic reaction inside device! ALERT! Unable to move! Unable to…"
They got no further when the devices detonated and caused some debries to block off The Daleks from their prisoners.
The four TARDIS companions lead the captured prisoners of Skaro towards the hatch from which they had dropped in from as Simon broke off to run back into the TARDIS and then returned with a grappling hook. Once he was at the shaft that they had slid down from, Simon threw the hook upwards and then pulled back making sure that the rope was secured before ushering the people to climb.
"MOVE, PEOPLE!" Simon declared, "Don't worry about us, we just need to get someone left behind. Just worry about yourselves!"
As the other prisoners began to climb, the companions ran off again with Simon and Alfred taking the lead.
"Where are we headed now?!" Alokia asked.
"We're headed to help The Doctor!" Alfred stated.
"First off," Elfrieda declared, "I want to know what Alfred used and second; I want to know what The Doctor's plan is!"
"I used some of the universal cells that I got from the Rings of Akhaten to try and use to install the cable TV for the TARDIS." Alfred admitted, "Turns out it was really unstable so I got a cooler from Yao-Chi to try and cool it off. Turns out unless it's kept under freezing temperatures it turn out exploding. I figured it could come in handy if we needed to trap them."
"Wow!" Elfrieda said, impressed with the device, "I think as far as inventions go, Alfie that might be the best one you've come up with yet! I wish we had more explosives in the TARDIS. It'd make things a whole lot easier for us at times."
"Probably not a good idea in your case, Elfie." Alokia noted, before turning back to the two males, "But you haven't told us where The Doctor is!"
"He's with Davros, and they're going to execute some sort of virus!" Alfred stated.
"WHAT?!"
….
Meanwhile…
The Doctor and Davros got behind the wall adjacent to the doors that lead into a large control room. Taking a quick peak over, The Doctor saw a tremendous ball of light which was giving off a tremendous amount of temporal energy. Unfortunately, it was also being surrounded by a group of Daleks.
"There it is, Doctor." Davros stated, "All I need to do is get close enough to the Eye of Time so that I may execute the virus…"
"And if I refuse?" The Doctor asked.
"ATTENTION!" A Dalek voice declared, over the loudspeakers, "DALEKS IN THE CONVERSION CHAMBER HAVE FAILED TO REPORT IN. LOGIC INDICATES THAT WE ARE UNDER ATTACK! ALL DALEKS MUST PROCEED TO THE EYE OF TIME AND PREPARE FOR THE ULTIMATE DALEK INVASION OF TIME! THE DALEKS WILL SWEEP ACROSS TIME AND SPACE DESTROYING EVERYTHING IN OUR PATH UNTIL ALL IS ONLY DALEK!"
"There is your answer, Doctor." Davros stated, "You have a choice, help me and save all of reality; or refuse my help and watch as my children destroy time itself."
The Doctor groaned angrily.
"Alright." The Doctor stated, "I'll distract them!"
The Doctor then ran into the room waving his hands around.
"Hello!" He yelled, "Look at me, I'm the one who destroyed Skaro!"
"You are the one who destroyed our planet!" One of the Daleks declared, as all the ones in the room turned to face him, "You will identify yourself! Identify!"
"You don't remember me," The Doctor stated, "But I am the one who you have feared all this time. I am the one who defeated you in the Last Great Time War. I am the one who sent you through the void and into hell. I am the one who defeated you in 2164 AD. I have stopped you over and over again, and I made sure you would never remember these things…"
"These are insignificant!" A White Imperial Dalek declared, "You will identify who you are!"
"Very well," The Doctor said, "I am The Doctor, and I am the one who will stop you."
"Your information is irrelevant." A Red Dalek said, "The Name 'Doctor' is a title that is meaningless. Furthermore, The Daleks have prepared the bridge to the past. We shall ex-ter-mi-nate all life through history until all is only Dalek! We shall…"
"Conquer?" The Doctor interjected, whipping out his sonic screwdriver and waving it at The Daleks "Control the galaxy? Rid all life of the right to live? Unlimited Jammy Dodgers? Yes, I've heard that from you more times than I'd like to count, and quite frankly I'd rather not hear it again."
"We shall ex-ter-mi-nate you for your interference, Doctor!" A black-colored Dalek boomed.
Suddenly, before The Daleks could shoot him, they all froze as their eyestalks fell to the ground.
The Doctor looked to see Davros positioned in front of The Eye of Time, with a twisted grin on his face.
"I should thank you Doctor." Davros smiled as the other companions came in through The Door, "You helped me stop my children's influence. Now I shall reward you with my gift. I will not use The Eye of Time to create a source of unimaginable power! I shall use it to wipe out any creation I see inferior!"
He turned to the companions and pressed a button, causing a force-shield to drop over them.
"But before I do…" Davros smiled, "I shall grant you and your companions a quick death at the hands of my creations."
"Davros!" The Doctor warned, "I begging you; don't do this!"
"You begin to fear, Doctor." Davros smiled, "Daleks! Ex-"
Suddenly, Davros found himself frozen and couldn't move. The Doctor smiled as he walked up to him.
"Did you really think I'd be daft enough to let you go without some kind of back-up plan, Davros." The Doctor asked, "I knew you'd try to take The Eye of Time for yourself. I only needed to make a back-up virus while I was 'distracting' The Daleks. One that activated with a back-door virus I made when I restored your systems. Now you're unable to move again."
He went over to The Companions and waved his sonic screwdriver at the force field as it deactivated and set them free.
"What now?" Simon asked.
"You ever seen 'The Terminator?'" The Doctor asked.
"Yeah?" Simon asked.
The Doctor motioned to The Eye of Time.
"I'm going to re-activate the fragments from the Temporal Universe Shard that were still in The Eye of Time and cause an overlapping feedback to create a giant bubble that'll remove everything on Skaro and put it back the way it was supposed to be."
"How long does that give us to get out of here?" Alfred asked.
The Doctor looked at his watch.
"Ten minutes at best." He shrugged waving the Sonic Screwdriver at The Eye of Time, "Now let's get out of here and fast in case I'm off."
The Companions ran out of the room as blue electricity began crackling everywhere from The Eye of Time. After two minutes, a bright white light began encompassing the room, growing at an alarming rate.
The Doctor and his companions ran back into The TARDIS as it disappeared from sight before the bright light encompassed that room also.
…
Above Skaro…
The Doctor, Alfred, Alokia, Elfrieda, and Simon watched as the bright light covered the entire orbit via the TARDIS screen and then disappeared leaving a red planet behind.
"Did it work?" Simon asked.
"Let's find out." The Doctor suggested.
He switched the view and sighed with relief as he saw the red sky and destroyed buildings as they were.
"There we go." The Doctor smiled, "THAT'S Skaro as it's supposed to be."
"So we did it!" Elfrieda exclaimed.
"Yeah." The Doctor grinned, "The Eye of Time overloaded and destroyed itself. It's kind of like a rubber band. Once the Eye of Time was overloaded and destroyed, without anything left to control it, Skaro snapped back the way it was supposed to as did its inhabitants both on and off the planet."
"So where to now, Doctor?" Simon asked, "We going to get Clara."
"Yes." The Doctor nodded, "We're going to go to a planet that I guarantee will knock your socks off."
He hit the de-materialization switch as The TARDIS disappeared.
To Be Continued…
…
And now, BrenRome proudly presents; an all-new tale featuring the Ninth Doctor and Rose Tyler in…
The Ice Age of Islington!
7790 BCE…
In the cold artic wasteland of Earth's long-distant past, there was the sound of some kind of whirring. The noise got louder and louder until finally some kind of wooden blue box stood there in the ice. Inside the box were two people dressed in clothes far beyond this time and age who were arguing with each other.
"Doctor, what happened?!" Rose asked, "You said that Adam could come with us!"
"I was going to let him on, Rose!" The Doctor declared, "I told you, though! The TARDIS just took off without me doing anything!"
He touched the TARDIS controls and his eyes concentrated.
"I get it now." He said, "It's been under a lot of stress recently. I don't blame her. She just needs to recover for a bit."
"What?" Rose asked confused.
"The TARDIS." The Doctor explained, "Did I not mention to you that she's alive also? Wouldn't be surprised if I didn't, though. You know me. I'm just full of surprises."
"So…it's just gotta sit and wait?" Rose asked.
"Yep." The Doctor smiled, "That's what's so great about you, Rose Tyler; you use your brain!"
"So what are we to do until then?"
"Dunno." The Doctor declared, "Might want to check around where we are. I'll look outside."
The Doctor left and opened the door only to be met with a burst of cold air and snow as he looked around him. There was snow as far as the eye could see and ice structures that rose high in the distance.
"Rose?" He asked, "You might want to grab a jacket and something warm to put on."
"Okay." Rose's voice called from inside The TARDIS.
The Doctor looked around confused. He couldn't help but have a nagging feeling in the back of his head that something bad was about to go down. He couldn't figure out what it was, though.
As he pondered for a few minutes, he didn't notice when Rose finally left The TARDIS bearing a big pink jacket and carrying a giant tan jacket for The Doctor.
"Here you go, Doctor." She said, "So where are we?"
"Judging from the looks of it…" The Doctor explained, "I think we're somewhere in your planet's history. Around 7790 Before The Common Era as your people call it sometime in the future."
"Could you please not refer to my type as 'your people?'" Rose asked.
"Does the term 'you humans' sound better?" The Doctor asked.
Rose thought about it.
"No," She shrugged, "Not really."
"Sorry, then." The Doctor apologized, "But I reckon I can think of something eventually. Why don't we take a walk? I don't see anybody around, and it's nice for exercise. That and bananas, of course."
"Why bananas?" Rose asked.
"Because they're good for you." The Doctor chimed, "Plenty of Potassium."
As they continued to walk, The Doctor couldn't help but feel something was wrong.
"Rose…" The Doctor asked, "You get the feeling that you were being followed?"
Rose was about to answer when suddenly a metal hand smashed up from underneath the ice and grabbed her leg.
The Doctor and Rose quickly reacted upon instinct with The Doctor using his sonic screwdriver and Rose trying to hit it with her hand.
Eventually, the hand let go and Rose moved her feet away from it.
The Doctor, however, was looking in shock at the hand.
"I don't believe it." He declared.
Rose looked at the hand carefully. It was something she had not recognized before. It was a full metal hand with some kind of little gun on the side of its arm.
"What is it, Doctor?" Rose asked.
"It's a Cyberman, Rose." The Doctor explained, "Remember that metal head you pointed out when we first arrived at The Vault?"
Rose nodded as The Doctor pointed back to the hand.
"That's what it is. Seems they got 'upgraded' themselves since last we met."
"What are The Cybermen, Doctor?" Rose asked.
"The Cybermen are a group of beings from Earth's long-lost twin planet, Mondas." The Doctor continued, getting up to look at the hand, "They're regular people who replace all their human parts with metal and then erase all traces of humanity from them making them literally follow upon instinct."
"That's horrible!" Rose declared.
"It is." The Doctor agreed, before turning to her, "Rose; could you do me a favor and get back to The TARDIS? I left some gold dust in a red bag underneath one of the metal floors and a crowbar. You mind fetching it for me?"
"Sure, thing, Doctor." Rose declared, "As long as afterwards we go back for Adam."
"Deal." The Doctor smiled.
Rose took off and returned a few minutes later with the crowbar and two red bags from inside her jacket pouches.
"Fantastic, Rose Tyler." The Doctor smiled, taking the the crowbar from her, "Now, let's see…"
He stuck the crowbar where The Cyberman was and began thawing away at the Ice.
"Doctor?" Rose asked, "I hope this means you're not suggesting we go swimming."
The Doctor looked at her surprised.
"Don't be silly, Rose." The Doctor declared, "I'm not suggesting that at all. The Cyberman can't swim well (hence their metal bodies,) and I'm willing to bet that this one couldn't get up unless it climbed or walked up somehow."
He pulled away at the Ice revealing the Cyberman in there with a flight of stairs bellow them.
"Rose?" The Doctor asked, giving her his crowbar, "Take this. You might need it."
Rose took the crowbar and they proceeded down the tunnel. As they went further underground, they noticed that it continued to get darker, so The Doctor took out his Sonic Screwdriver and turned it on to use as a flashlight.
Unfortunately, it didn't help for Rose since the blue light lit up the blue water surroundings, giving it a scary atmosphere as the color resembled that of the Gelth. The Doctor held her hand firmly as they moved through the icy underground tunnel shaped in the form of a half-cylinder, no doubt thanks to The Cyberman that got out.
Eventually, the two saw another blue light coming from the end of the tunnel and approached it quietly.
As they reached the light, the two realized that the tunnel now was leading into a large, metallic ship.
Inside, the two travelers could see thousands of Cybermen working bellow, along with one Cyberman sitting on a throne with a black faceplate.
"Cyber-Lord." The Doctor explained to Rose in a whisper, "They're the ones who run the show round here."
They continued to watch as a regular Cyberman approached the Cyber-Lord.
"Our scouter has not returned." The Cyberman explained.
"It matters not." The Cyber-Lord declared, "Are the Cybermats ready?"
"Affirmative."
"Then we shall unleash them on this planet." The Cyber-Lord explained, "They shall spread throughout this world converting everything until all is upgraded."
"That's our cue to stop this, Rose." The Doctor told her.
"What are you going to do, Doctor?" Rose asked.
"ALERT!" A Cyberman who had just walked up behind them yelled, "INTRUDER! ALERT!"
Rose and The Doctor quickly stood up with their hands in the air as The Cybermen and Cyber-Lord below looked up at them.
"You will identify yourselves!" The Cyber-Lord declared.
"The Doctor and Rose Tyler." The Doctor said, quickly putting both hands in his pockets.
"Your identity is not relevant." The Cyber-Lord declared, "'Doctor' is a title, not a name."
"Oi." The Doctor called, sounding a bit offended and mock-depressed at the same time, "That's hurtful. Then again, I think it won't be as hurtful as this!"
Without warning, The Doctor threw a red bag at the Cybermen next to Rose and one at The Cyber-Lord below. The bags exploded, revealing gold dust within them. The Cyberman and Cyber-Lord screamed as The Doctor and Rose duck to avoid the firing. The Doctor then whipped out his sonic screwdriver and pointed it at the Cyber-Lord's control panel.
Helping Rose back up while The Cybermen were thrown off-guard by the movement, The Doctor and Rose rushed out of the ship and back up through the stairs. The two got out and ran for The TARDIS, watching behind them as the ship suddenly burst out of the ice, and flew up into the atmosphere.
"Did you send them away?" Rose asked.
"Nope." The Doctor shook his head, "The ship was too beaten for that. They'll crash back to Earth, most likely in The Artic. This time, however, with that ship pod open, the water'll get in and freeze them."
With that, the two re-entered The TARDIS and re-set the coordinates. The TARDIS took off as the two looked at each other.
"Now we go back for Adam?" Rose asked.
"Yep." The Doctor smiled, "Now we go back for…"
Suddenly, The Doctor screamed in pain as he held his head and collapsed to the ground.
"Doctor?!" Rose asked, "What is it?! What's going on?!"
"My head…" The Doctor said in pain, "My hearts…something's wrong, Rose…something's changing!"
Suddenly, The TARDIS engins died out as Rose looked at the screen horrified, she knew something was happening now. A white napkin-like device had appeared on the TARDIS monitor screen and was heading for The TARDIS.
But little did the person controlling it know that this had been prepared for.
….
Earlier…
Rose watched The Doctor leave as a new voice called out.
"Rose?!" The Voice asked.
Rose jumped a little as she spun around to see someone had appeared on the screen.
The man was a slim bloke around 30 years old or so, with brown eyes and hair bearing sideburns. He had a blue pinstripe suit and black rectangular-framed glasses. Rose did not know this man and was wondering how he knew her.
"Rose!" The man declared, "I hope you get this message! I don't have a lot of time, so I'll be brief! You may think you don't know me, but you do. Well, not yet anyways. Point is; I'm The Doctor. I'm the same man who saved you from those Autons in London."
Rose was staring at the screen in confusion. Was this some kind of joke The Doctor was pulling. The man on the screen claiming to be The Doctor seemed serious, but she couldn't trust him after everything she'd seen.
"I know it's skeptical to believe that I am The Doctor, but I can prove it." The Doctor stated looking seriously, "The time I rescued you in that London Department Store, you were all alone with The Autons advancing upon you. I took your hand, and I said one word. 'Run.'"
Rose looked shocked. There was nobody there that night besides her and The Doctor and since the security cameras had been destroyed in the explosion, there was no other explanation for it. This was The Doctor.
"Rose?" The Doctor who was outside asked, "You might want to grab a jacket and something warm to put on."
"Okay…" She called, still focused on The Doctor who was on The Monitor Screen.
"Now," The Doctor on the monitor explained, "I need you to follow these directions, Rose. Someone is stealing my past and possibly future incarnations, and I can't send any signals forwards to warn my future selves. However, My TARDIS is able to at least send messages back in time. I need you to write something down for me, Rose. This is very important so listen to me very carefully…."
Rose listened as if her life depended on it.
…
Somewhere, Sometime…
The Figure did not see this conversation, as it was trying to solve a problem. Something was wrong and they knew it.
The Machine was not functioning as it should, and it wasn't because of the events going on. Somebody was interfering with the power source. That meant that somebody was onto The Figure and they had to act fast and finish up collecting the past incarnations.
The Figure worked the machine again and this time the screen changed to the Tenth Doctor. He was the one who was more optimistic than his past incarnation had been. He was a man around 30 with brown hair and sideburns currently wearing a blue pinstripe suit and pants, along with a red tie.
His companion at this time was a woman with bright red hair and green eyes, wearing a purple dress from Pompeii after her visit with The Doctor to that time.
It was almost over, soon the final two remaining Doctors would be captured and then the figure could finally put their thoughts to rest forever. Then the final phase of the plan would begin and ultimately succeed.
To Be Continued…
…
Next Time…
(Clara opens a door to see The Doctor, Alokia, Elfrieda, Simon, and Alfred there. The companions are all dressed in different costumes. Alokia is wearing a homemade Silurian Mask, Elfrieda is wearing the costume she wore in The Whispers of Gamidvin, Simon is dressed like Sherlock Holmes, and Alfred is dressed like Albert Einstein.)
"SURPRISE!" The Group yells.
(We get a shot of a purple-crater-like planet, as we quickly zoom in. The TARDIS materializes on The Planet as The Doctor and the companions step out [with Clara now wearing a traditional Halloween Witch costume.] We see that along the rock foundations of the planet, people have built homes and have decorated them with little Halloween decorations.)
"This is the planet of Nagoion." The Doctor explains, "A fright-fest-based planet, if you will. The Planet has a non-toxic-perfectly-breathable-gas that covers the planet every Halloween, that brings to life your greatest fears."
(Suddenly, the inhabitants of the planet are swarmed with legions of bats, one of which manages to bite Elfrieda. We then cut to The Doctor looking over her seriously as he burries his hand into his eyes.)
"She's been infected with something." The Doctor declares, "Whatever it is, it's transforming her body, and I can't figure out what it is."
(Suddenly, Elfrieda's eyes shoot open as she lunges at The Doctor with a psychotic look on her face, now sporting long fangs in her teeth. We then see a legion of people being led by Elfrieda all sporting the same fangs. We then see The Doctor, Clara, and Alfred looking out a window from one of the foundations horrified. We then cut to black before we see Simon and Alokia in a dark cave, holding a flashlight forward as they examine what's going on.)
"If there's one thing to know;" The Doctor's voice narrates, "It's that you can't let fear get the best of you."
(We then see a random woman dressed in lab gear screaming her head off as giant wings that seem to be made from human skin flap open.)
…
Well, there we go, folks! Almost done with the story at last! Only two more chapters to go before the final 50th Anniversary Fanfic celebration story is released! Hope you enjoyed this chapter! Be sure to join us next time when The Doctor and Co. visit the planet of Nagoion and go face-to-face with what could be considered one of the most deadliest creatures The Doctor has ever faced! It all happens in next month's Halloween-based fic; 'The Horrors of the Space Vampires!' Then, in our FINAL back-up feature (*sniff* I don't want it to go,) the modern-day-fan-favorite Tenth Doctor takes the stage alongside Donna Noble as they discover… 'The Cave To Time!' Now before I go, I leave you with an old phrase of power and wisdom…and consolation to the soul in times of need… "ALLONS-Y!"
Until then, take care and review!
