Chapter Ten: "Pink Slips and Traps"
Scrapyard – November 13th, 1993;
Fred was getting tired of lions. He saw Leo coming towards camp before any of the others. Bon frowned at Fred.
"What's wrong?" Apparently he had been scowling because Bon asked the question as if Fred looked like he wanted to punch something. Bon followed his gaze and his frown deepened. "Oh no..." He said.
BB was the next to notice him. As soon as he saw Leo he ran towards the lion, intent on giving him a hug, but Chi grabbed onto him at the last moment and BB wasn't strong enough to get out of her grip. "Leo!" He yelled. The lion turned and gave BB a small smile before continuing his walk.
Mangle was off to the side, watching the lion as if he were a bomb. She looked displeased about something, but Fred couldn't figure out what. The lion walked up to his cot and placed some bags next to the supplies BB had brought in earlier. Then, he turned towards Fred.
"I'm back."
Freddy Fazbear's Pizza;
Mike couldn't believe he had lasted a week at Freddy's. After nearly dying every night for seven nights, he felt lucky to be alive. Of course, he couldn't attribute it all to luck. He had shut the animatronics down for the night so that he wouldn't have to deal with them in their most active state, according to the guy on the phone. All he had to do now was collect his second overtime check and go home for a nap.
After what seemed like hours to the night guard, Mr. Fazbear finally arrived. Mike got up from his chair and went into the dining room. He found Mr. Fazbear on the stage, inspecting the animatronics.
"Hello Mr. Fazbear..." He said. "What are you looking at?"
"Someone turned off the animatronics." He said, scratching his chin. His brown, Ivy League styled hair was slightly disheveled. There were dark circles under his light brown eyes as if he hadn't gotten any sleep in a long time. "Wait here Mr. Schmidt." He wandered off into his office.
Mike was scared. Did Mr. Fazbear think he turned them off? Would he call the cops? Mr. Fazbear returned with a pink piece of paper in his hand. He held it out to Mike who took it gingerly. His hands shook as he read the contents. After all that, he was fired.
"I'm sorry Mike," He said, "but I can't have anyone tamper with my characters."
"I understand Mr. Fazbear..." Mike turned to leave when Mr. Fazbear spoke.
"Scott." He said.
"Excuse me?"
"My name is Scott. Scott Cawthon." He held out his hand and Mike shook it. "I don't give that information out to most people, but I know what you went through." Mike felt as if Scott had just stabbed him with a knife and twisted it slowly.
"You knew?!" He asked with shaky breath. Scott nodded.
"Fritz told me some things before he went missing." He said. They stood there in silence for a few minutes, then Scott escorted Mike to the doors. He bid farewell to the ex-guard and watched as he drove off.
After Mike's car was out of sight, he made sure that the sign said 'Closed' and walked towards the bathrooms. At the entrance to the bathrooms, he turned left and came to a door. Just left of the door was a camera positioned so that it would never have that door in its view. A sign on the door read 'Employees Only'.
Scott turned the doorknob and entered the room. On the far wall, three arcade machines sat deactivated. Just to Scott's right, an animatronic rabbit sat lifeless on the floor. The suit was in very bad shape. Half of the right ear was completely torn off, there were tons of holes in the torso of the rabbit, and the legs were completely destroyed from the ankles down.
On the floor next to the rabbit was a purple suit. Scott picked it up and held it in his arms. Memories of his past deeds with Fritz resurfaced. What better to wear to end this than his old attire? After all, it would be the only way the kids would remember him...
