The wedding
Everything had become awkward between Yugi D. and Kentarou and she hated it. For three weeks, she missed the Kentarou he used to be before, the one she could call and send text messages to, without feeling embarrassed for it. At times, she felt she could try to regain that confidence, but as soon as she saw Kentarou in Sugarfirst, her stomach started to hurt. She wouldn't dare to face again those blue eyes that were filled with feelings. She never saw Kentarou Sugaya, the joker gentleman and one of her best friends that way. He made her feel special because he treated her like a friend instead of a catch, always making her laugh and talking to her without hesitation. But the fact that he forced her to face his confession so suddenly, in such an inappropriate context, only made things worse. Misao returned after a week of her escape with Issei. They were dating now but used to argue a lot and her brothers were still worried about her. Things were not going well. It was too much trouble and Yugi D. only wanted to take care of her own, at the moment. She already had enough with her job, college, her online blog and her brother's wedding.
Wedding bells rang on September, the ceremony carried out with great splendor. Atayami and Mitzu tied the knot at the altar, after some emotional vows of eternal love. Gis's sobs never ceased since the wedding march began and even after the exchange of the rings she failed to contain her tears. The post-ceremony celebration took place in a private open area. Mitzu impressed everyone with her beautiful white dress, before all the women gathered to catch the bouquet. The winner was Kokoa, who pounced on at least five girls to achieve her goal. After that, Yugi D. got close to the couple to congratulate them once again and noticed that Hideki-san attended to the party.
"Mitzu, look who's here", said Yugi D. and as soon as Mitzu turned, she ruined her make-up for the first time, since she was holding up her tears during the whole ceremony until that moment. Atayami approached his sister to hug her tight with his arms.
"Don't get used to it", she clarified, since she's never been very affectionate with him.
"I won't", he answered, smiling. "Hey, D... Is there anyone accompanying you? I thought you would at least have a date, looking so beautiful and all", asked the bridegroom.
"No way", answered her.
"That's weird. I could swear that tall guy over there, have been watching you all this time since he arrived to the party", Atayami said while looking toward the entrance of the place.
Yugi D. turned around to the door with her heart pounding very fast but all she could see was a short old man that wasn't even good looking. Atayami burst into laughter immediately and left before receiving a possible hit from his sister.
"Baka, I thought for a moment that it was..." Yugi D. caught herself thinking in Kentarou. "He's my ex-bf's brother. I shouldn't even be thinking about him", she complained to herself in her mind.
As the party ended, a drunk Gis wouldn't let Atayami go. Yugi D. had to intervene to take care of her mother and let the couple leave for their honeymoon. It was very late when Gis was arriving at her apartment, kindly carried on Hideki-san's arms, followed by Yugi D.
"How embarrassing! I wouldn't know what to do without you, Hideki-san", said Yugi D. as he was leaving.
"Don't worry, Yugi-chan. I know what it feels to have a son getting away from you, day by day... I can understand your mom perfectly, besides you know I'm forever in your debt since... you know", answered him kindly. Yugi D. smiled to him before closing the door.
"I'm glad you got back Mitzu's affection, Hideki-san. You are a good man" she thought as she went to take care of Gis, who was laying in her bed, unconscious from drinking too much at the wedding.
It was time to sleep and Yugi D. was very exhausted. Her cell phone did a small "beep" to discover a missed call from Kentarou and a text message. "Miss ya, buddy".
Yugi D. couldn't help to feel a lump in her throat. Kentarou had been out of her mind the last few hours and now he was taking all her attention again.
"Kentarou..." whispered embarrassed, and then continued "Please tell me you didn't fall in love with me. I don't want to lose you as a friend". An hour passed since she tried to sleep with no success, then she went looking for refuge on her mother's bedroom.
"What did I miss?" asked Gis with a drunk voice.
"Mitzu's dad brought you here on his arms. Mom, you are a mess!" said Yugi D. hugging her mom from behind and then she added "Are you ok?".
"I'm great, but what about you? You didn't come here since Ryuusei lost the last button of his belly" said Gis tenderly.
"Ryuusei..." said Yugi D. nostalgically before continuing "That naughty teddy bear never wanted more than my friendship. Things were easier back then".
"It's Yuiichi's brother, isn't it?" asked Gis.
"How did you know it was...?" replied her daughter surprised.
"I'm your mother. I can sense certain things... And maybe a little green headed friend of yours also gave me a clue" Gis explained, laughing.
"Kokoa" Yugi D realized, a bit annoyed.
"I just wanted to tell you that... eep… You have freewill, honey, don't let them pressure you. At the end it's all your decision", Gis's voice started to fade from sleep.
"Mom, I don't want to hurt him. I care of him" confessed her daughter.
"You won't, honey. He's a big boy and you'll be there to be his friend, there's nothing better in these cases than being honest..." her mother's voice decreased until it was obvious that she was asleep.
"Thanks, mom", said Yugi D, closing her eyes.
"Eep!... D, honey... Did your brother marry today?" was Gis' last question.
Yugi D. smiled before confirming the news and falling asleep herself.
