Chapter 9
As soon as Dr McAllister left the room, Jamie and the kids entered. After hugs, jokes, and a few tears where exchanged between everyone Jamie approached Jason
"Can we talk for a second?" Jason glanced at Sam briefly, who was listening intently to whatever Peyton was saying. Nodding, the two men stepped outside the hospital room and before the door had barely closed, Jamie began to speak
"I had Lucky Spencer arrested about an hour ago" Jason just stood there, in a mix of shock, confusion, and anger
"What happened?" Jamie could see Jason's fists tightly clenched and knew that Lucky probably wouldn't make it to see any jail time once Jason found out what he did
"He went after Peyton... After she caught him trying to take Lucy" If he had been the one receiving this news he would have blown up with anger, punched the wall, anything... But the other man just stood there, an unreadable expression on his face.
This was the stoic Jason Morgan in front of him. The man was known for being extremely protective of his family. Anyone who threatened their safety usually wound up "leaving town" or having a "mysterious accident". Jamie wasn't naive, he'd heard stories about the man and right now he knew Jason was pissed.
Still not saying anything, Jason turned to go back into Sam's room. With his hand on the door knob, he finally spoke
"I'm going to let Sam know we're running an errand and then it's time for a nice chat with the detective" with that, Jason opened the door and walked in
"Now that you're awake, you have a lot to catch up on" Carly was now sitting on the side of Sam's bed with Peyton on the other and Lena at her sister-in-laws feet. Caleb and Rylan were sitting at a table across the room with a deck of cards. They had no interest in "girl talk"
"Just how much did I miss?" Sam chuckled a bit but stopped when she saw the look on everyone's face "What? What aren't you telling me?" Lena placed a hand on Sam's leg while Carly spoke
"Well to start off, Elizabitch was the one who caused the accident. She's the one who hit you" Sam inhaled quickly
"Is she alright? What about the boys?" Carly sighed because this was the part that would her best friend the most
"Jake was in the car with her but only had minor injuries. Unfortunately the bitch pulled through. Lucky took them home already"
"Why would Lucky take them home? Jake should be with Jason if Elizabeth can't care for him"
"After the accident it came to light that Lucky is actually the father of all 3 of the whores brats..." Sam interrupted, practically hyperventilating
"What do you mean Lucky is the father? No, he swore he would never cheat on me again. He promised!"
The tears were flowing freely down Sam's face now. Her heart feeling like it was about to break. Not because she still loved Lucky, but because of all the lies he told her. She now knew why he didn't want a child with her. He had the perfect family already.
Wiping the tears from her face, she took a deep breath and calmed herself. He wouldn't cause her anymore pain. She wouldn't let him... And then it hit her
"Wait, what do you mean 3?"
"She's about 4 and a half months pregnant now" this time it was Lena who spoke. She hated seeing such a strong person look so small, but Sam deserved to know the whole truth about Lucky
Sam expected the news to hurt more than it did. At this point she was numb to his actions. They were not together anymore and she was thankful she never actually married him. And even more thankful that she didn't have his child either.
"Thank you for telling me. I guess I should have known that he wasn't capable of being faithful. I should have seen it coming when he did a complete 180 on us having a child. Thank God Lucia is Jason's."
When she saw the look on everyone's face, she panicked "No, there is no way she's Lucky's. She's Jason's, I know she is... She has to be"
"Oh, Sam, she is definitely Jason's. We have the rest to prove it. Lucky on the other hand refuses to believe that. He insists that he's Lucy's father" Lena and Carly both have Sam an apologetic look. The poor woman couldn't catch a break lately
"He tried to take her, Aunt Sam" this was the first time that Peyton spoke. It was barely a whisper, and even sitting right beside her, Sam almost didn't hear her. But her heart sunk at the statement none the less.
"What do you mean he tried to take my baby?! I'll fucking kill him" Sam was now seething with anger, and that's how she looked when Jason re-entered the room
Jason could feel the tension in the air the second he opened the door. One look at Sam told him that she was all caught up and now knows everything that has happened.
"I take it you told her?" He looked from Carly to Lena and then settled on Peyton. As soon as he did, he knew that it was the young teen that told her the worst news. He walked up and put a reassuring hand on the girls shoulder before addressing the room
"Can you guys give Sam and I minute?" Carly was about to protest, but complied when Lena grabbed her arm and basically dragged her off the bed. Once the room had cleared, Jason sat next to Sam and grabbed her hand in his
"Jamie already had him arrested and I'm going down to the station to file charges against him. I swear he won't get anywhere near our daughter ever again" Sam squeezed his hand at that.
Hearing him acknowledge Lucia as his child almost made everything better. Almost
"When is he going to stop causing me so much pain? Why can't he just leave me alone? What did I ever do to deserve this?" Jason once again brushed the tear from her cheek
"I swear to you Sam, Lucky Spencer will never hurt you again. I won't let him. Once I call Diane, she will make sure he never sees the outside of a jail cell ever again."
"And as for what you did to deserve this? The answer is nothing. This is all on Lucky's stupidity. He's a bastard for all he put you through and if I could take all the hurt from you, I would in an instant"
"Us. What he put US through. I'm sorry about Jake. I know how much you loved him" this time it was Sam who squeezed Jason's hand
"I did love him, but I guess deep down I knew he wasn't mine. I cared about him, yes. And I would have done anything for him, but I never really got fully attached. Not like with Lucy. The second I saw her... I don't know how to explain it. I felt something change within me, I guess. I knew whole heartedly that she was my daughter and I loved her instantly. I never had that gut feeling with Jake. Liz just told me that he was mine and I accepted it"
Jason held back the tear that threatened to fall. He may have loved Jake but he never had the same feelings for him as he now has for his daughter... And if he was honest, those feelings applied to Sam as well.
When he watched Liz being wheeled into the ER he was concerned and worried. However when Sam was brought in, he couldn't breath. It felt like his whole world was ripped away from him. It hadn't been a feeling he was prepared for, and it scared him a bit.
Sam watched as the different emotions played across Jason's face. There was a mix of sadness, anger, and even love. She wished that maybe one day he may look at her with that kind of love in his eyes, but knew it was unlikely. Jason was thinking of their daughter and as long as he loved Lucy, then she would be happy.
After a few moments of silence, Jason pulled himself from his thoughts and rose from the bed, reluctant to let go of her hand
"Jamie and I have to go down to the PCPD in order to press charges against Lucky. I'll try to be back before they take Lucy in for surgery" Sam nodded and then slowly pulled her hand out of his grasp. Jason only got halfway to the door before Sam called his name. She waited until he turned to look at her that she spoke
"You guys give him hell, Jason. And make sure he understands that if he comes anywhere near my daughter again, that you'll be the least of his worries" Jason saw the anger in her eyes and knew she was speaking about herself. He smiled at that and kind of hoped Lucky didn't listen. He would pay money to watch someone as little as Sam put Lucy in his place. She was a little spitfire and it made him love her all the more.
"Get some rest, baby. I'll be back soon" and with that, Jason left Sam alone in her room.
"Damn it!" He realized what he said once he got out of the room. He hoped Sam hadn't heard him, but he knew better. There was nothing he could do about it now, he would just have to wait and see how things played out.
"You can come out now, Carly" His sister poked her head around the corner and he saw her sporting the biggest shit eating grin
"You love her" it was a simple statement but Jason wasn't going to take her bait
"I don't know what you're talking about. Where's everyone else?" He didn't have time for this conversation with Carly. He had to get Jamie so they could make sure Lucky would no longer be a problem
"It wasn't a question Jason. I was watching you guys through the door. You can't deny what I saw with my own two eyes". Jason scrubbed his hands down his face and sighed
"Fine Carly... Yes, I love Sam. She's the mother of my child, how could I not lover her. Now I need to know where Jamie is"
"It's more than that and you and I both know it. Not once did you look at Elizabeth the way you look at Sam, but I'll let it go... For now."
"Thank you, now Jamie?" Jason thanked the gods that Carly was going to leave him alone. He knew it wouldn't be for long, but he would take what he could get
"Lena went down to check on Lucy. Jamie said he'd meet you at the station. He took the kids back to the hotel. I told him that they're welcome to stay at Greystone, but he said the hotel was closer to Sam"
Jason acknowledged the information and started to walk toward the elevator. Without looking back, he spoke one last time
"Not now Carly, she needs to rest" Carly pouted and took her hand off the door knob. She started to walk away until she knew her brother was out of sight. She then made her way back to Sam's room, they had lots to talk about.
