Okay, here goes. Fight scenes are not my forte- talking is. So... the tournament battles... yeah. But please enjoy!
The arena
Mr. Satan posed for the crowd, and Gohan simply crossed his arms.
"Aaaaaand, begin!" shouted the announcer. Gohan didn't bother taking a stance at all. Satan was Videl's dad, sure, but there was no way he was letting him get away with all he'd done so easily. A little humiliation wouldn't hurt him that much.
Gohan lowered his power as much as he could, bringing himself to a just slightly inhuman level. Enough to beat Hercule, 'Savior of the World'.
To his credit, the celebrity tried. It was hopeless, even though Gohan let his guard down completely to save face. But it was still a shock to the crowd as their hero was thrown out of the ring by their superhero. Surely Saiyaman wasn't truly that strong?
Adia smirked as Sharpener and Erasa gaped at their classmate walking back in.
"Knew it," said Adia, still smirking. "But I'm not so sure about this next one. I've never seen Zigdiad fight..."
"And that means that Hercule is no longer our current champion-but he's still our hero! Let's hear it for him!"
"Satan! Satan! Satan!" cheered the crowd. Hercule looked up to see his daughter smiling-not at Saiyaman, but at him, and nodding.
Zigdiad's digital log, to be auto-deleted the moment the match started
"There are mysterious qualities to this glass orb. I have a few theories on its qualities. It's quite possible that the energy that created it have all but dissipated. However, I am hoping my second theory is more likely. Its power is concentrated deeply. It likely attracts the energy of similar spirit bonds. I feel that if it somehow broke, not only would another spirit be released, but the energy would latch onto the nearest living being... I cannot experiment with this, as there is only one chance. But I must defeat the traitor half-Saiyan that ruined my life. I'll never beat him on my own ... but I may be able to give his enemies the extra power they need. I will make a copy of these logs and my data and will send them telepathically to 666." He glanced away from the screen, looking a thousand years older than he was.
"And I will welcome death with open arms, ready to greet Lorcan at the door."
The fight again
Zigdiad threw away the cape that hung on his shoulders, revealing a black gi-like outfit. Videl was not intimidated. He did not look her in the eyes. For every hit she landed, he struck back, otherwise blocking and dodging and running. If anything, he was frustrating. She didn't understand.
"Fight me, you coward," Videl growled. He made a point of hitting her in the ribs particularly hard, then continued with his dodging.
Number 666, he telepathically connected with Adia, who had been watching the battle, listen to me. This is Zigdiad. I am sending you what I know. If I lose this fight, Lorcan will kill me. If I win, I will likely die at your hands. I will lose, because I am going to betray him... Adia frowned, listening carefully. He gave the facts, with no trace of his feelings. Just like she would have. I am evading her while I give you this information. It was us who freed Goku...
After finishing his explanation of the facts, the orders, his purpose as Mr. Zeta, and the strengths and weaknesses of the others in the tournament, he paused.
Adia. Do you know why you were prisoner 666?
No.
The numbers are also letters in the Ichor language. And Lorcan is half-Ichor, half . . . another race. The letters mean Demon.
... I see. Thank you, Zigdiad. I will remember you well.
And so he stopped fighting altogether for a moment. Videl, caught off guard, backed away cautiously.
"You'll win," he simply said. He took a small glass orb-fragile as a Christmas ornament-and propelled it at Videl with a sizable, but weak ki blast. The glass crunched against her heart and exploded. No one could hear her scream over the noise the energy created.
For Zigdiad had been more than right. The bonds to hold Goku to death were extremely strong. Only some of the energy could latch onto Videl without destroying her. The rest shot outwards, attracted to the most similar death-bonds possible to the Saiyan. Two were freed from death, collapsing unconscious in an empty field on Earth. Adia searched out their energies and recognized them. She left without a word, and because of the concern for Videl, no one noticed her running out.
It was like Videl was lit with a golden fire now, and she was floating slightly off the ground. Her eyes were bright green. With a single strike to the smiling Zigdiad, she knocked him out of the arena, and seemingly let the glow die.
"Wh-whoa... S-Saiyagirl wins!" the announcer shook at the power she had. So did the other fighters who knew her well.
"B-but how?" Gohan stared. Videl soon returned, and everyone crowded around her to ask questions.
"I don't know..." Videl said, looking at her hands like she'd never seen them before. Adia was back.
"I may be able to explain... Zigdiad threw a small orb of solid energy at her. It was what was left over after Goku was revived-the energy from the bonds that held him. Two other people were revived during the explosion. I took them to a secluded place where they wouldn't bother anyone, as I also sedated them... they are powerful. I will explain more after the tournament."
"How do you know this?" Mirai frowned.
"Zigdiad was speaking to me telepathically as the fight started. Videl has that power to herself now... equal to a somewhat weak Super Saiyan. But she probably gets more drained by using the form than we do. Feeling tired?"
"Kinda, yeah." Everything was happening so fast. Gohan grinned widely at her.
"That's awesome! Now you and I can really spar!" Videl smiled slightly at that.
"Are you two a couple? Saiyagirl? Saiyaman?" asked Erasa, who was holding Sharpener's hand.
"Yes, actually," said Videl. Gohan blushed.
Lorcan chuckled, and Ventas smiled next to him.
"So different in this world, isn't it?" he said.
"Yes. . . here he is weak-willed."
"Sadly, I agree. It's a pity really. Marcus, what's your take on it?"
"I'm fighting a child. This is ridiculous."
"Careful, Marcus-it's a Saiyan child you're fighting." Zigdiad had returned, a wry smile across his face. Lorcan oozed animosity just by standing, grabbing Zigdiad's shoulder with a gloved hand, and firmly leading him out of the building. Adia reached out telepathically, telling Zigdiad she'd look for his energy, so someone would be able to witness his fate. She held no hatred for him, but no kind feelings either. He emitted an agreeing thought, and she sensed Lorcan and he flying very high. Lorcan's grew stronger, and in a snap Zigdiad was gone. Adia said nothing.
Lorcan returned to see Vegeta and Goku preparing in the ring. Mirai, Gohan, Trunks, and Goten were all very close to the glass wall, keeping their distance from one another.
"This will be very interesting," said Krillin, a smirk on his face.
The two took stances, staring each other off. Without warning, they both shot like bullets at one another, a flurry of violence was their arms and legs, for no one could see them clearly.
"Come on, Dad," Trunks cheered quietly.
"Go, Dad," Goten whispered to the glass.
"My dad's going to win, you know." said Gohan and Mirai at the same time. They turned and glared at one another. Adia shook her head fondly, standing between them.
There was no end. They had been going at it for five minutes. People were still trying to comprehend how fast they were moving.
"Come on, Kakarot. Let's see how much your training in death has helped you-" Vegeta sent a ki blast to Goku's stomach.
"Oh, so we're going there now? Fine," Goku grinned, "I was waiting for a challenge." It continued as before, only with blasts and flashes in between.
"What is that?" marveled Hercule.
"Energy blasts," Videl replied. "They'll take to the air any minute now." As if on cue, they began to rise higher and higher out of the ring.
"Kamehamehaaa!" Goku shouted, and that had Vegeta down for a moment. But in the dust of his impact with the ring, a blast shot right at Goku, who dodged quickly. They kept going.
"This'll never end," said Videl, "Why are they such big rivals?"
"I'll tell you the story after this all is done," Gohan said over his shoulder, eyes still glued to the fight.
They went Super, and that was enough to scare all of the crowd. Goku had good timing, for he just managed to beat Vegeta with a huge blast that sent the Saiyan Prince into a crater that was once the outside of the ring. They both powered down.
"Tournament technicalities," Vegeta spat.
"Aaaaand the winner- is Son Goku! Which means, since Hercule lost his previous battle, that he's our current champion!"
"Goku! Goku! Goku!" cheered the crowd.
Goku scratched the back of his head, grinning. The two Saiyans left the ring.
"All right, we're going to take a short break to clean up the ring. Take some time to rest-this will take up to four hours. It'll be very late when we finish, so we'll continue round one tomorrow!"
The Son and Briefs families both went to the Son house on the insistence of Chi-Chi and Bulma. Videl even tagged along with Gohan. The rest went elsewhere to relax.
Adia warned them then of the visitors.
"As I said, two spirits were revived during Videl's battle. Both are Saiyans, and both might be very confused and destructive in this world without an explanation. Despite whatever danger they may pose, we are all individually stronger than them both. My father, Bardock, and my other brother, Raditz, are the two that are sleeping in the living room right now." Gohan's eyes widened.
"Raditz? He tried to kidnap me-when I was barely a toddler!" Adia sighed.
"I figured. But he isn't the brightest-or the strongest-person around. He'd always had a special respect for me, since I never lost a fight. And father is no trouble-you and he have the same fighting spirit, Goku. It's not a Saiyan thing to fight the way you do. It's something only you two share. If you're so worried, we can all easily scare him just by going Super Saiyan. Not hard at all. Trust me." Gohan remembered Raditz well. It was clear he was still uneasy.
"Fine, then." Adia carried both men outside so that there would be no destruction involved if a confrontation had to happen. It was a small house after all. Bardock came to first.
"Ugh . . . I-Adia!" he froze for a moment, then grinned wildly and laughed loudly.
"It's good to see you again, my girl! You've grown-this is after you visited Planet Vegeta, correct?" She nodded, smiling back. He embraced her at once.
"So what planet are we on now and how exactly am I here?" he asked her, ignoring the others.
"Planet Earth. There was an explosion of spirit energy that broke the bonds of death on you and Raditz. This is Kakarot's home-he goes by Goku here-where he lives with his wife, two sons, and myself. That girl is Videl, your grandson's girlfriend. The others are Prince Vegeta, his wife, his son, and Mirai, his son from another timeline. You remember Mirai, correct?" Bardock nodded, and began to introduce himself to his family. He was much like Goku, if a little more coarse. Chi-Chi took him inside for dinner, and the Briefs family went home after Vegeta complained of the pointlessness of staying. Bulma agreed-it was a family matter. Mirai stayed for Adia's sake, and Videl for Gohan. She could tell he was very tense. Goten went inside to meet with his "Grampa Bardock."
Raditz finally began to wake up.
"You're alive again, brother. You're on planet Earth, at the home of your brother Kakarot. And if you dare harming a human on this planet, I will personally see to your death," said Adia quietly in his ear.
"Adia?!" He backed off, narrowing his eyes. "I was sent here by Frieza. You can't honestly expect me not to follow orders." Apparently Raditz had not been able to witness reality while he was dead.
"Frieza is dead," said Mirai. "I can't take the credit even if I did give him the final blow. He was little more than a corpse when we fought. The true credit goes to Goku." He gestured to the hero. Raditz frowned.
"No one could defeat Frieza. Stop with these lies." Adia glared.
"Raditz, this is Mirai. Son of Prince Vegeta. Recall the visitors from when we were young?" The warrior shook with disbelief.
"Then . . ."
"All the Saiyans present can at least reach the level of Super Saiyan, brother. A few, including Kakarot, have surpassed it," she said, a sly smile beginning to form on her face.
"And remember that little boy you kidnapped to force me into joining you?" Goku continued, pressing Gohan forward. Gohan glared at his uncle before skipping Super Saiyan altogether. Raditz, if he had any doubt before of their words, now seemed to be unable to move anymore. There was no question of his power now.
"This is the level of Super Saiyan 2. Be careful about who you plan on kidnapping, especially when they are family. Don't even think of trying anything, because you will have me to deal with. . . I might even forgive you one day for what you did, you know. We forgave Vegeta at some point. But I won't forget." Raditz cowered, and Chi-Chi called the rest of them in for dinner.
Lorcan, Ventas, and Marcus are all standing in the lobby of an old, possibly condemned apartment.
"Zigdiad," Ventas said, "was weak from the start." Still, tears threatened at the corner of her eyes for a few seconds at the news.
"He was. But I did not expect him to be so stupid to dissent, knowing that his death would only strengthen me. All that research did little for his wisdom," Lorcan said. Marcus huffed.
"Doesn't matter now, you two. The guy is dead, and that's it. Stop sniveling, Ventas. He was your brother, but you never cared before, did you?" She pouted and wiped away the tears that hadn't even fully formed.
"Still, it bothers me. I expected him to kill the girl, then be disqualified. That was the order. It would enrage my self from this dimension, wouldn't you think?
"I suppose. He cares for the human. But Lorcan, I don't think it's wise to even go through with the tournament. Can't we just take the dragon balls while the fighters are otherwise occupied?" Marcus grunted. Lorcan likes to play with his prey, but I doubt that these ones are going down easy. In fact, I think we might actually lose . . . if we're not careful.
"No. We have to make them suffer, make them watch everything get taken away. We have to give them the pain they deserve. Or have you forgotten what the Saiyans did to your home world, Marcus? Such a powerful race . . . and you're the only one left. Don't you want to hear the screams of those who made your life a living hell?" Marcus frowned.
"I've heard them already. And I will follow your orders as long as I get my payment. I've had my revenge already. Don't speak for me through your own experiences. I know that the Ichor-"
"Silence." Lorcan was clenching unseen fists beneath his cloak. His energy levels were spiking slightly. Ventas flinched back, dropping the lecherous guise she always had around the powerful leader. Her face flashed in fear, then quickly returned to the false admiration and desire she'd accustomed herself to.
"My apologies, Master," Marcus said. Lorcan calmed, and then explained to them their next move.
The Son House
Adia was sitting at the dining room table. She was the only one awake in the house, the others long since sleeping. It was late.
Suddenly, a voice spoke in her mind. It was King Kai.
Hey, you still awake? I've got good news and bad news. The others are all connected to this in their dreams. She looked upwards.
"Yes, I'm awake. Let's hear the bad news first."
Well, I've got that guy Zigdiad with me temporarily. He told me the situation. Lorcan, Ventas, and Marcus don't care who wins the tournament. Whether or not they win, there'll be a fight on the grounds where Vegeta and Goku first faced off. As far as this guy is telling me, he was the weakest of the four. Ventas is his sister, and she's got some nasty moves. She's really powerful. Marcus is a mercenary from another planet destroyed by the Saiyans in his dimension. Apparently, he just wants to get the black dragon balls, resurrect his people, kill the Saiyans that took his family, and return to his old life. He's a general and a tactician in addition to his brute strength. Lorcan has lived with Zigdiad and Ventas for most of his life. Adia nodded.
"I know all of this. Why are you giving us old information?"
Because I'm not finished! Stop being so impatient! This is life-or-death stuff here. Vegeta mentally scoffed in the mind link, but Kai ignored it.
Lorcan's mission is to destroy every Saiyan that ever existed, become immortal, and rule over whatever universe he chooses. However, his motives are strange. Zigdiad doesn't even know the full story, but he does know something: Lorcan is half-Saiyan, half-Ichor.
Silence.
Ichor . . . the race that King Cold ruled recently. The one that the Saiyans had been practically enslaved to. Bardock said through the link.
Let's hear the good news. Gohan said quickly.
I have a technique that could help you in the final battle. I will teach it to all of you through the dream world. It is a cooperative technique only to be used by pairs of people with similar power levels. The Supreme Kai has entrusted me with the task of teaching it to you. It's called Fusion.
Dun-dun-DUN! Cool stuff, eh? The tournament will continue as soon as I can get back to writing this stuff (aka when finals are over). I'm so thankful for the support this story has had! I was confident that it would be a flop, but clearly not! You guys are awesome! Be sure to leave a review with comments, concerns, constructive criticism, or whatever you need to say. I'll either PM you or address it in an A/N in the next chapter.
See you later!
