AN: I see the same people are reviewing (Thank you guys!). But even though I am so grateful for their reviews, I know a lot more than 4 or 5 people are reading this story. So, if some other people could review with any feedback that would be so great!
ARIA POV:
I narrowed my choices to two colors, 'Get Back Jack' which is deep purple and 'Come Sail Away'. Get Back Jack would be good if I go with an eclectic décor which definitely fits my unique personality and style. Come Sail Away is a soft blue, a little lighter than the sky. I decide to just get sample cans of both, paint a little on the wall and see what looks best. After all, you can't always trust the way it looks on the sample chips. Glad that I finally made a decision, I yell down the stairs to Zach, asking him to drive me to the paint store so I can pick up the paint.
"Actually, why don't you stay here? I have to run into town to check on the Brew and will have to be there for a few hours and won't be able to bring you back here. I will just pick it up on my way home."
I agree with him, not wanting to be stuck at the Brew for hours with nothing to do. I decide to go work with my girl. I make my way to the stables, and as I approach her stall, I hear someone in the tack room. No one should be in here. Mom is on a call and Zach is at work. Alarmed, I pick up the nearest thing to me, which unfortunately is just a curry comb. I just grab it, not wanting to alert the intruder of my presence. I head towards the tack room, curry comb held out in front of my, trying to protect myself. I open the door slowly, but just as I am about to throw it, I realize who it is, Ezra. He looks at me surprised, but amused at my choice of weaponry.
"Oh my gosh Ezra, you scared me. I could have hurt you!"
"Yeah Aria, you could have done a lot of damage with a pink curry comb", he says jokingly.
I huff at him in annoyance. "What are you doing here anyways? My mom isn't here, she's on call. Shouldn't you be with her?"
"Your mom asked me to come back and get a few things she needed. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you. I will get what I need and leave."
As he is leaving I call out to him, "You are still going to help me paint right?"
He turns around, and smiles, "Of course I am. Call me when you are ready. I'm bringing a surprise." I watch him as he gets into his car and drives down the gravel driveway, leaving a trail of dust behind him. I am intrigued about his surprise, and I know it's gonna drive me crazy trying to figure out what it is. Zach, you better hurry up with that paint.
Remembering what I came here for, I head towards the mare's stall. She is doing so much better, and we have such a close bond. Sometimes when I feel lonely or confused, I just come here and sit with her. Just being around her is so relaxing. I can talk to her about what's going on in my life and she listens, adding a nicker here and there and looking at me understandingly with her big, brown, loving eyes. I still haven't come up with a name for her yet, it has to be something really special, and fitting for such a beautiful creature. She really likes it when I sing to her, and she's a good audience. Melody. It's perfect, I finally came up with a name. I should run it by mom first though. I give her one last carrot, and then happily leave the barn, hoping Zach will be there so I can call Ezra to start painting.
Zach isn't home yet, but he texted me and said that he should be home in an hour. While I wait for him, I decided to prepare my room for paintings, covering up all my furniture with old sheets. After that, I get on my laptop and look at some pictures for inspiration of how I want to decorate my new room. I turn the radio on, and smile when I hear my favorite song. I turn the volume all the way up, and I sing at the top of my lungs, dancing crazily all around the house jumping up and down. I spin around and then all of a sudden I see him standing there with a smirk on his face.
"What is it with you and scaring me half to death today? What are you doing sneaking up on me? Zach didn't bring the paint back yet."
"Well I ran into Zach at the hardware store and he asked me to bring back the paint. He still had a couple more errands to run and he knew you were anxiously waiting for him to bring it back. And plus I needed to come over to help anyways, why not kill 2 birds with 1 stone. I see you already started prepping your room, so let's get the samples on the wall."
I look at him with a smile, and we open the first paint can.
AN: Weird ending I know, but I didn't want them to get into the painting quite yet. The next chapter will be them painting and getting to know each other. I haven't decided whether or not I'm going to do the paint fight or not. A reviewer pointed out to me that irl Ella and Zach wouldn't be pushing their daughter so much to date him. I did not intend them to come off as pushing into it, so I plan on clarifying that in the next few chapters. PLEASE review and favorite if you like it. Thanks for reading! :)
