IceCReaMloVeRx: Hey guys! First off, I'm very sorry that I haven't updated for 5 months! -Story Start-

After the whole incident with the strain, the term "normal" was no longer in Miyuki's dictionary. How can it? After being held hostage by a group of thugs, getting chased by a strain, nearly witnessing an assassination, and then saved by the Blue King because she was almost killed by a strain, yeah how can one's life go back to normal now?

Perhaps if she ignored the cheerful brunette's phone calls and texts—what the hell, even he didn't pick up her call when she needed him during the strain incident—and if she asked the manager at the café to look for someone to switch shifts with her, she wouldn't have to encounter the oddly cheerful captain of Scepter 4 and go through the stupid shit the crazy cameraman drags her into.

…So why was she heading to HOMRA right now?

"In the end…" a quiet mumble slipped past her lips as she pushed open the doors, "I can't escape from them…"

"Hey there Miyuki-chan!" the sandy brunette chirped and greeted as soon as he saw the girl walk in. He flinched when Miyuki shot him a dirty look. Guess she was still mad about the whole phone incident.

"Did you need something or did Totsuka drag you into something again?" the male behind the bar asked with an eyebrow raised, his lips tugged upwards into a small smirk.

"Hey!" the cameraman cried out with shock, "I do not drag her into messes!"

"Name one," the older male and the student chorused in unison, deadpanning at the young male.

"Err…" Totsuka hesitated and laughed sheepishly. Let's see, he pulled Miyuki into the Maria incident, the Eric situation…ah! "The Basashi incident!"

"Since everyone was pulled into it and you guys called me to come pick up my sheet music, it technically counts one on you," the music student bluntly shot back. You thought that she forgot about the missing sheet music didn't you? Well she didn't.

"Eeeeh? No way!" Totsuka's jaw dropped and he gaped at her response.

The bartender only snorted and rolled his eyes as he continued wiping down the countertop of his bar. He glanced up to see Miyuki sit down on a barstool in front of him. The two said nothing, but Izumo could tell that the girl was tired. Well, he couldn't blame her. She was a young girl going to college so the homework was probably piling on her including the midterms and exams. It also didn't help that she was getting involved in the world of Kings and strains. The blond put the wash cloth away and turned around. After a few minutes, he set a glass down in front of Miyuki. The girl only raised an eyebrow at him, staring at the male as if he sprouted another head.

"Relax, it's not alcoholic," Izumo chuckled and wiped his hands. "It's a Shirley Temple. Ever had one?"

"No…" Miyuki blinked and peered at the glass. She stirred it with the straw before taking a sip. Lemon-lime soda with something else. Huh, not bad.

"Stressful day at school Takamiya-san?" Izumo chuckled softly as he rested his forearms on the counter.

"It's not really stress…I'm just suffering with anxiety since they want us to work on vocal notes," she sighed softly and played with the straw. "I love music, but to put me up in front of people to test my high notes and low notes? Sorry, but I think I might pass out."

"A case of stage fright in other words huh?" Izumo chuckled, earning a dirty look from Miyuki. "Sorry, sorry."

"What if we help you overcome your stage fright?" Totsuka chimed in with a grin.

"Hell no."

"Ara…that was harsh Miyuki-chan…" Totsuka laughed weakly as his suggestion was shot down instantly.

"I'll overcome this issue on my own," said the music student dryly as she continued to stare down at the camera man. "Besides, getting you involved would only mean ridiculous ideas and everything getting blown out of proportion."

While Miyuki was busy making Totsuka feel small, Izumo turned his head towards the door to see the others coming in. Mikoto had left earlier to settle some business, leading Anna, Yata, Kamamoto, Shouhei, and Bandou to follow. The whereabouts of Chitose, Dewa, Eric, and Fujishima were unknown but Izumo wasn't worried, they could handle themselves. They were adults after all (Eric's 18, that's legal enough).

"Yo Kusanagi-san! We're back!" Yata grinned and waltzed inside. The others followed behind as Mikoto was the last one to walk in.

"Takamiya-san is here as well," Kamamoto spotted the girl and nodded his head in greeting. "Did Totsuka-san drag you here?"

"Hey!" cue the cry from the cameraman.

"No, I decided to come here to relax from schoolwork," Miyuki sighed softly and gave the big male a tired smile. "But I'm not going to stay too long, the work has to get done eventually."

"Yata-chan, did you get the stuff I told you to get?" Izumo raised an eyebrow at the short vanguard when he noticed the teen came back empty handed minus the skateboard tucked under his arm.

"Eh?"

"…You forgot didn't you?" Izumo sighed exasperatedly, his hand resting on his forehead.

"Yata-san, you were so into beating the crap out of the guy that you forgot to buy groceries," Kamamoto chimed in only to get slugged in the head. "Ow! That hurt Yata-san!"

"Maybe you ought to remind me damn fatty! If you could remember that, why didn't you remind me!?" Yata barked and shook his fist at the chubby male.

"But the chahan was calling for me Yata-san~" Kamamoto whined and hearing that only made Yata even more ticked off, resulting the older male to get slugged again.

"Enough!" Izumo snapped and slammed his hands down on the counter, causing the two males to freeze. "Just go do the shopping right now Yata-chan."

"Fine…" the vanguard grumbled and turned to walk out the doors.

"Ah, I'll get going too," Miyuki smiled softly and hopped off the barstool. "Thank you for the Shirley Temple Kusanagi-san, I'll be sure to pay you back."

"It's on the house Takamiya-san," the bartender chuckled and waved. "See you next time."

A small sigh escaped past her lips as she turned down the street. Miyuki cringed at the thought of her homework waiting for her back at home, but she knew better than to leave it alone. Homework after all, piles up if left alone for a while. The student continued walking until she saw a familiar person up ahead. Oh that's right, he had to run an errand.

"Yata-san!" she called out to him. The skateboarder looked back as he continued to skate. When he noticed that the person who called out to him was Miyuki, the boy turned red and since he wasn't paying attention, he fell over with his skateboard rolling from underneath him. 'Crap…I made him trip…' Quickly, Miyuki walked over to him to help him up. But for some odd reason, by the time Miyuki got close to him, Yata sat up and backed away from her. "Are you okay? I didn't mean to startle you…"

"I-It's f-fine!" Yata stammered with a red face and scrambled up on his feet. He bent down to pick up his board and when he faced the girl, he averted his eyes so that he wouldn't have to look at her. "A-Aren't you s-supposed to be at th-the bar?"

"I decided to leave, I need to work on my music homework," Miyuki explained and gave him a small smile. "I just happened to see you up ahead."

"O-Oh…" his cheeks burned as the girl continued to converse with him. Oh hell, why did she have to bump into him? Because of his issue with girls, his legs began to grow weak and he had to adjust his hold on his skateboard since his palms were starting to get sweaty. He wasn't sure how red his face was, but it was extremely hot.

"Well I better not bother you with Kusanagi-san's errand," Miyuki smiled and turned to walk in the other direction. "I'll see you later Yata-san."

"W-Wait, y-you're walking alone?" Yata stuttered and looked at her. "Th-That's dangerous though, a-after wh-what you went through…"

"I don't think that I'll get attacked at this time of the day," Miyuki laughed a bit, but inwardly deadpanned at herself. 'What the hell am I saying? I was caught up in a strain attack a few days ago, got kidnapped by some thugs in the beginning, of course I'll get attacked at any time!'

"I'll walk you home," the vanguard grunted and walked over to her. The groceries could wait. He was sure that if anything happened to Miyuki, Kusanagi would hang his ass as a decorative piece to the bar if the bartender knew that the girl met the vanguard beforehand. The nineteen year old wanted to keep his ass and decided that the oldest member of HOMRA wouldn't mind if he came back slightly late.

"Eh? But you don't have to—" Miyuki blinked in surprise when the short skateboarder whipped around to look at her with a serious gaze despite the pale pink dusting his cheeks.

"I'm walking you home," he stated firmly. The university student sighed softly. There was no point in arguing with him so she gave up and began walking with him.

The walk home was…awkward. At least she thought it was. The two walked silently side by side without saying anything. When Miyuki wanted to start up a conversation, the skateboarder would only respond curtly and then would stay quiet. She honestly didn't understand why he was so quiet around her. He was all loud and slightly obnoxious with the others at the bar so why act so differently around her? While Miyuki pondered about this, she didn't catch the faint pink that tinted the boy's cheeks.

To the red clan's vanguard, he didn't want to do this bodyguard/escort business. But he knew that Izumo would fry his ass if something happened to the university student, especially since they ran into each other. Since Miyuki was pulled into the whole clan business because of his first encounter with her, Yata couldn't help but feel slightly obligated to watch the girl. His run-in caused trouble for her the first time, he didn't want the same thing happening for the second time.

"Hm? What's that?" Miyuki asked, breaking the vanguard's train of thought as she pointed up ahead. There were vans blocking the road up ahead and the moment Yata saw blue coats, he scowled and stopped walking. This caused Miyuki to stop as well as she turned to look at the vanguard who only had a fierce glare on his face. "Yata-san?"

"Blues…" he growled and tightened his grip on his skateboard.

"Eh?"

"Now this is a sight to see," the familiar yet cheerful called out to them. Miyuki turned her head to only see the captain smiling at her. "It's nice to see you again Takamiya-san, and I see that you have gotten yourself acquainted with the red clan's vanguard."

"Get back Takamiya-san," the vanguard ordered. Miyuki only stared blankly at him and opened her mouth to retort, but no words came out as HOMRA's vanguard rushed forward to attack the Blue King.

"Y-Yata-san!" Miyuki cried out, but her words fell deaf to his ears. She quickly shut her eyes as she didn't want to see any blood splatter. But instead of a splatter, she heard another clash. "Y-Yata-san?" The student looked up only to see the same guy who opened the gate for her when she delivered food to the Scepter 4 headquarters, pressing his sword against Yata's skateboard.

"Damn you…..Saruhiko…!" Yata growled and pushed back in order to get some distance between him and the number three of Scepter 4.

"You have quite the timing Fushimi-kun," the captain chuckled softly as he glanced sideways at his third in command.

"Tch. I didn't come here to rescue you," Fushimi grunted in annoyance, his gaze focused on the Red Clan's vanguard. "I came here to mess with Misaki."

"Don't call me that you shitty monkey!" Yata snapped back, his hand curling up into a fist as he grits his teeth.

While the two had their "stare-down", Miyuki could only stand and watch in confusion and in slight terror. She was tired of getting pulled into one or the other clans' fights and she just wanted to go home! Miyuki whipped her head around to see if there was an opening for her to slip through without getting noticed or caught until she saw the captain smiling at her pleasantly. She immediately deadpanned at his look.

"Do you need someone to take you home Takamiya-san?" Munakata asked politely with a radiant smile. Miyuki could have sworn she saw sparkles dazzling around him.

"Err…no, it's fine…" Miyuki politely declined and turned to walk away until another explosion blocked her way. She jumped back and fell onto her butt to see a person standing in front of her, a deranged look on the person's face.

"Oh? So that's where the strain had been hiding…" Munakata mused to himself, rubbing his chin in wonder as he watched.

'I'm getting thrown into this mess again!?' Miyuki wailed in her mind as she tried to get up, but her legs were numb from the shock.

"Takamiya-san!" Yata grabbed her wrist and jerked her up. Then he turned to run away, causing Miyuki to stumble after him. "Che. We'll finish this another time Saruhiko!" The vanguard shouted behind him, leaving Scepter 4's third in command feeling irritated. As much as Yata wanted to beat the brains out of the traitor, he had to get Miyuki out of the area.

The strain noticed the two running off and lunged at the two. When Yata noticed that they were being followed, his eyes widened and he quickly grabbed Miyuki to throw her aside so that he would take the brunt of the hit. Before he could throw the girl, the strain's arm grew twice the size of a "normal" arm and struck down at the two, sending Yata flying with Miyuki.

"GAH!" Miyuki yelped and flailed her arms as she was sent flying.

"Damn it!" Yata cursed and quickly flipped his skateboard over and hopped on. Miyuki's eyes widened to see a red aura around the boy before he stepped down on the board and in a flash, he was skating towards her. "Takamiya-san! Grab my hand!"

"Eeeh!?" She yelped as he stretched his hand out to her. She decided to question him later about his red "outline" and flailed her hand to grab his. It took her a few tries before she actually managed to grab his. For a moment, Yata felt his cheeks burn, but he immediately pushed the thoughts aside and tugged her towards him, making her land behind on his skateboard. "Yata-san!?"

"Hold on!" He ordered and stomped his foot down on his board, forcing the two to head back down onto the ground. Miyuki yelled at the sudden rush and quickly wrapped her arms around the boy's waist—much to the boy's displeasure—as they landed. She squeaked to see some sparks coming out from the skateboard's wheels and her eyes bulged to see smoke and what looked to be tire tracks on the road.

"Can I please just…" Miyuki groaned and wobbled off of the skateboard before landing on her knees, "go home already?"

"Oi! You fucking blues! Do your fucking jobs right!" Yata growled and pointed at the crew of blue coats.

"Our deepest apologies Takamiya-san, we should have handled the strain much more delicately," Munakata smiled and bowed his head. To Miyuki, she didn't feel that he was apologizing sincerely.

'I seriously need to stay away from him from here on out…' she thought and deadpanned at the dazzling smile he gave her.

"Keh! Let's go Takamiya-san!" Yata scoffed and kicked his board up, tucking it underneath his arm before offering a hand for Miyuki, a faint blush appearing on his cheeks.

Miyuki blinked but took his hand anyways as he pulled her up. She dusted herself off and just before she could thank him, the short skater started walking, pulling her behind him. Miyuki turned her head to take one last look at Munakata only to see him smiling and to see the third in command—what was this name again, Saruhiko?—scowling. She quickly looked away before they could catch her staring at them. Once Yata moved away from them for a good distance, he finally released her wrist and his face was red.

"S-Sorry about that…" Yata mumbled and rubbed the back of his neck. His free hand messed with one of the wheels of his skateboard and his eyes would not look up to meet Miyuki's.

"It's alright…" Miyuki laughed sheepishly. "At least that's done and over with…" she sighed and scratched her cheek. She had enough adventure and action for the day, it was time for her to go home. "I can take it from here Yata-san, sorry for causing you so much trouble," Miyuki smiled and waved her hand carelessly at the shorter male.

"Screw it, Kusanagi-san's going to chew my head off if something like that happens again," Yata grouched and tugged his beanie down, his cheeks still tinted pink. "I-I'm walking you home all the way." He glanced at her from the side and watched as Miyuki opened her mouth to retort, but he had already began to walk ahead of her. "N-No a-arguments!"

"H-Hai….?" Miyuki blinked and ducked her head down. What was with it and men being so god damn stubborn? Noticing that Yata was already a good five feet ahead of her, she quickly jogged behind him. "Ah! M-Matte, Yata-san! My apartment is in the other direction!"

"Geh! Wh-why d-didn't y-you say s-so earlier!?"

[K Project] [K Project] [K Project] [K Project] [K Project] [K Project] [K Project] [K Project] [K Project] [K Project] [K Project] [K Project] [K Project] [K Project] [K Project]

Needless to say, the walk back to her apartment was quite…awkward. The two hadn't said anything after Miyuki pointed out the correct directions to her apartment. The vanguard and university student walked silently side by side. The skateboarder didn't seem to mind the silence, in fact, he preferred it. It was bad enough that he was this close to a girl and he even touched her (from saving her, of course). Miyuki, on the other hand, was starting to feel the pressure of awkwardness as seconds and minutes pass by. She inwardly prayed that they would arrive at her apartment already, but sadly that prayer had not been answered. She would occasionally glance back at Yata and then back at the road, biting her lip as she would wonder what to say. But, what is there for her to talk about? She's not a guy and she certainly was not a HOMRA member. Her knowledge of the opposite sex was limited and the overwhelming silence was driving her nuts!

What is there for her to talk about with Yata? She didn't know anything about gangs—other than them and Scepter 4 (if you want to count Scepter 4 as a "gang")—and she had no knowledge about fighting. Err…video games? Ah, but she hasn't found the time to play video games lately. Um…music? No, wait, that's what she's interested in, there's no way Yata would be interested in music. But then again, he does have a pair of headphone around his neck—unless that's just for show. She wracked her head and glanced at Yata to see if there was something on him that looked interesting to talk about. Skateboarding? No, Miyuki didn't know anything about skating or skateboards. School? Well, he does look like he would be in high school. Okay, let's go with the topic of school.

"Ne, Yata-san?" Miyuki slowly began, watching in amusement to see the boy next to her jump at his name. Once he relaxed a bit, she continued, "What grade are you in?"

"G-Grade?" Yata's eyes widened a bit as he turned his head at the girl.

"Yeah, are you a first year in high school?" Miyuki gave him a small smile which immediately caused the boy to blush again. She only watched in confusion as the vanguard became flustered and would shift awkwardly, occasionally dropping his skateboard and fumbling with it.

"I, uh…" Yata hesitated, feeling the beads of sweat trickling down his temple. "Er…I'm not in high school…"

"You're not?" Miyuki blinked then tilted her head to the side and studied him, making the poor skateboarder shrink at her gaze. "Then…are you a university student?"

"No, I mean…" Yata stammered out and felt his skateboard slip out of his hands, "I don't…go to school. I dropped out years ago…"

Oh…well that's awkward. Miyuki inwardly cringed as she just made the tension between them even worse and the atmosphere even more awkward. She watched as Yata fumbled with his skateboard before finally holding it firmly.

"O-Oh…I-I'm sorry for asking..." flustered, she quickly apologized and waved her hands frantically in front of her. "I-I won't ask anymore."

"A-Ah n-no it's o-okay!" Yata spluttered, getting flustered that she was getting flustered. "Y-Your question j-just s-surprised me th-that's all!"

'Argh! Quick, think of something else to talk about!' Miyuki rapidly thought and fiddled with her fingers before another idea topic struck her.

"Yata-san, did you have some history with that, um, Saruhiko guy?" she asked, but this time, Yata's reaction was nothing like the first. Miyuki watched the teen grit his teeth and clench his fist tightly, his knuckles turning white. Oh great, she said something that brought up bad memories, again. What is with her today? All she wanted was a good conversation, yet all the questions she asked for conversation starters made Yata go from awkward to bitter to what looked to be rage. "Y-Yata-san…?"

"That fucking traitor..." Yata growled and continued to clench his fist tightly. His other hand clutched his skateboard tightly and from Miyuki's perspective, the board looked like it could be snapped in half. He grinded his teeth together and tightened his fist. For a moment, he felt his red aura coursing through his body until he heard his name called. He snapped his head to glare, but soon noticed the frightened look on Miyuki's face. Realizing that he must have freaked her out, he quickly calmed down (or at least look like he tried to). "S-Sorry…"

"I guess you're not in best terms with him…" Miyuki mused to herself and decided to keep shut on the subject of "Saruhiko."

The rest of the trip back to her apartment was silent, but Miyuki decided that it was best for it to stay that way. If she were to try and strike up another conversation, she was sure that Yata might punch a hole through something next. She felt bad enough since she brought up two sore subjects, one of them being extremely sensitive. When they finally arrived at the front of the apartment, Miyuki inwardly cheered that she would not have to deal with the uncomfortable silence any longer. She turned towards Yata and gave him an apologetic smile.

"I'm sorry for making you come out all this way just to walk me back Yata-san," she bowed her head in apology, only resulting the younger one to splutter and turn into a tomato once more.

"I-It's n-nothing!" He quickly waved his hand frantically in front of her, his skateboard slipping out of his grip once again due to his sweaty palms.

"But still….even so, I brought up some uncomfortable subjects…" Miyuki smiled sheepishly at him.

"L-Look, d-don't worry about it, a-alright?" Yata nervously scratched the back of his neck. "I-I'll be going now."

"Alright, see you Yata-san, thanks again," Miyuki thanked and smiled at him, resulting the poor teen to choke on his spit as he tried to respond back. She watched him whip around and drop his board down before he hopped on and skated off.

Once the vanguard was out of her sight, Miyuki hummed and walked to the elevator and pressed the up button. As she waited, she thought back to what happened in the span of one day. She finished up with school, and then on her own accord, she went to the bar. Why she went, she had no clue. It was starting to become a habit now. Miyuki dreaded at the thought. No, she shouldn't make this become a habit. Look at what just happened! After she left to go home, she encountered Scepter 4 and was nearly killed from a little freak accident caused by a strain! Then she had to be escorted by Yata—who, by the way, saved her—but then caused the walk home to become awkward! Sighing as she reflected on the events, she stepped into the elevator and pushed the button for her floor. As the doors closed, she was only left with one question.

"Why does Yata-san sweat and stutter so much?"

-Chapter End-

IceCReaMloVeRx: Hey guys! So….I'm not dead! But I am very, very, very, EXTREMELY sorry for the super, duper, extremely late update! –bows down- Please don't kill me! –dodges knives and tomatoes-

After I came back from winter break, winter quarter was extremely tough (as I mentioned earlier on top) and spring quarter started in April but here I am…updating in May. I, unfortunately, am taking a math course just to get it done and over with so I never have to deal with that crap ever again and…I don't remember shit and this is Math 4 I'm talking about, aka algebra 2 to precal stuff. So I spent the whole month of April prepping for the math midterm and stuff.

But hey! Math midterm is over and I don't have to stress as much! …Oh who am I kidding, it's college, I have to stress every day…But! Like I said earlier in the author's note above, Tuesdays and Thursdays are my easiest days so I will be updating more often! Not to mention summer vacation is coming up so…yay!

Before I forget, did you guys know that there's an otome game for K coming out? Pretty sweet huh? Haha! Them reverse harems lol. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited for this game! Sure the character designs are a bit…eh, but it's the same voice actors from the anime and come on, you can go for the K guys to date. Who doesn't want that?

No, this story is not going to become some otome game LOL We've already established that. This is still the stage where Miyuki meets all of the guys and kind of explores the friendships before she finally "falls" for someone. Still not telling who though!

Anyways, enough of my crazy ramblings. Thank you for all the love and support for this story and thank you for being patient with me! I hope that you guys will still continue to read this story and continue to support it! Thank you for all the reviews, faves, and favorites! You guys are the best! :D
