Chapter 10: Tests

Gotham City July 3rd 0315 Hours EST

Inside of a Warehouse, several crates were being brought in from a train. Some men were bringing off every delivery coming in from Metropolis and placing them into some trucks, all heading towards different directions once they had gotten their packages.

"You sure that these deliveries will be kept safe?" Commissioner Gordon asked Detective Harvey Bullock.

"Yeah, with the ORDER being hunted and the Light occupied with the Justice League and the Republic, we only have small Crime Families to worry about," Harvey replied as he drank some Whiskey. After taking one thirty-second sip, he handed the bottle to James. "Want some?"

"I don't drink," James Gordon replied back. "I'm more concerned for what's inside of these crates that would want the ORDER or the Light to come after us."

"They ain't gonna come after us," Harvey reassured James. "Clone Troopers have reported that the League is keeping them under control, with some of the new Jedi that have arrived," Harvey added on. "We're safe."

At that moment, several winged people crashed through the windows. Each of them resembled owls, with the exception of one girl who had bird-like features.

"By decree of the Court of Owls, we demand you hand over the Xenothium, and no one gets hurt!" one of the man demanded. He had a large sword on his back, was wearing brown armor, and had a helmet that resembled an owl.

"How did they know what we were carrying?!" Harvey exclaimed in disbelief.

"We've heard those kinds of threats before," Lieutenant Gordon said as he stepped up, taking out his phone. "How do we know you'll keep your word?"

"Because we're not Monsters," the female Human/Bird Hybrid said. "We don't want to hurt Humans, and you don't want to hurt us, right, Onikage?"

The man leading the group, Onikage, looked back to the girl and nodded. "Yes, Talon," he said. "As long as we get what we want, no one gets hurt."

"Xenothium is very unstable," Commissioner Gordon warned. "What makes you think you can handle this? Are you with the ORDER, or are you with the Light?"

"The Court of Owls is not like the League of Shadows or the Kobra Cult," Onikage remarked. "We are on neither side, I can assure you."

"He's lying!" a voice called out.

Everyone looked around before the sight of a teenager in a familiar suit with an "R" symbol on it and a familiar build came out from the shadows.

"The Boy Wonder," Onikage mused. "I was wondering when you would show up, Robin."

"Boy Wonder?" the figure asked, revealing to be female. "You have me confused for someone else," she said. She soon came out from the shadows, revealing herself to be Robyn. Jaws started to drop and eyes widened as Kalifa placed one hand onto her hip. "Perhaps I never formally introduced myself," Robyn mused. "I'm Robyn, known as the Girl Wonder."

"There's another?" James Gordon asked.

"Take her down!" Onikage ordered the Court of Owls.

Many members of the Court of Owls started to charge towards Kalifa. However, as they all leapt down and stabbed at her, she teleported away.

"Looking for someone?" Robyn asked as she now appeared in the air.

The Court of Owls looked up with surprise as Robyn looked down to them with a grin. She placed on a Gauntlet and shot out several Birdarangs with it. Several members of the Court of Owls fell in pain before Robyn landed and slashed at all of them with her baton. Four more Owls ran in to attack Robyn, but Robyn extended her baton to its Staff Mode and spun it around before placing her large Birdarang on the end. As soon as it was attached, Kalifa spun around her special Birdarang Axe and narrowed her eyes at the Court of Owls.

Onikage let out some daggers from the claws of his Gauntlets. Soon, the rest of the Court of Owls, minus Talon, released their own daggers as well.

Robyn just held her hand up, stopping the daggers midflight.

"No way!" Onikage exclaimed.

"You don't know the half of it!" Kalifa remarked, using the Force to send the daggers right back at the Court of Owls.

Onikage and the rest of the Court of Owls prepared themselves for death, but heard the sound of their daggers hit elsewhere. When they opened their eyes, they saw that the daggers had just pinned them to the wall.

"But I have a 'No Killing' Policy," Robyn added on. "Now, leave, and never return," Robyn ordered. "Tell Ra's al Ghul that you failed to get the Xenothium, and you can all live."

Onikage growled and unsheathed his sword. He charged towards Robyn and slashed down at her. However, Robyn used her Birdarang Axe to clash blades with Onikage before sidestepping and spinning around, kicking him into the wall.

"You told me we were on neither side!" Talon exclaimed as she flew over. "You knew that the ORDER made me what I was, and yet, you used me to do your work?!" Talon exclaimed. With her anger, she flew down towards Onikage.

"Never doubt your instincts, Teresa!" Onikage spat as he got back up and slashed at Talon.

Talon yelled in pain as she was thrown back. As she struggled to get up, she noticed that Onikage's sword left a gash in her chest.

Robyn gasped and looked back to Onikage. He attempted to strike her down, but Robyn used the Force to send him to the side. She turned around and narrowed her eyes at the Court of Owls.

"Leave here and never return!" Robyn demanded. "This is your last chance. I suggest you take it."

Onikage got up and growled. He started to fly away, and soon after, the rest of the Court of Owls followed after him to the unknown.

"You seem new around here," Lieutenant Gordon mused as he walked over to Robyn with Detective Bullock. "I didn't know there could be a Girl Wonder."

Robyn was half-listening to James Gordon. Her attention was focused on Talon, who was struggling to recover from her injury.

"Lieutenant, get this girl to a Hospital, fast," Robyn ordered as she sheathed her Birdarang Axe and walked towards Teresa. "She needs medical assistance."

Commissioner Gordon nodded as he started to dial a number. As he did, Robyn tore off part of her cape and tied it around Talon's waist to prevent any more blood from spilling. Afterwards, Robyn took out a bottle of water from her new Utility Belt and lifted it up to Teresa's mouth for her to drink.

"Are you alright?" Robyn asked.

"I don't know," Teresa said after taking a sip of water. "Everything's a blur to me right now."

"Don't worry," Robyn said with reassurance. "You're going to get help, I promise," Robyn stated. "Do you have a name?"

"My name is Teresa," Talon said. "The ORDER made me what I am, and I was trying to hide away until that man, William Cobb, the Leader of the Court of Owls, took me under his wing, no pun intended," Teresa explained. "I was under the assumption we were not fighting for any side, and up until now, I believed him."

"We're here to help you," Robyn reassured Talon. "Don't worry, Teresa, everything will be alright."

Teresa nodded before an Ambulance came in. Robyn helped get Teresa into the Ambulance with a Medical Team before turning her attention to the two Gotham Officials.

"Lieutenant Gordon, have a good early morning," Robyn said before turning to Harvey. "Detective Bullock, don't smoke or drink, it's gonna hurt you." Robyn advised Harvey Bullock before running out.

"Take her advice," James Gordon said to Harvey as he confiscated his Arnold Palmer and cigarette box. "She's getting on my good side." Lieutenant Gordon added on, feeling both a bit at a loss for words and surprised at the sight of a Girl Wonder.

Back at the BatCave, Robyn entered her room. She quickly got her clothes off before getting into her new bed. She started to use Force Meditation to heal herself, and as she was doing so, was also hoping that no one would notice her absence. To make sure of this, Kalifa looked to the bottom of her pillow, which had a recorder of her sleeping, complete with noises. It was exactly where she left it, and as she felt it, nobody touched it.

Six hours later…

Kalifa was still in bed, sleeping from her late night patrol. As she continued to sleep, a man in a ski mask appeared. He lifted up a bat in his hand and prepared to bring it down on Kalifa.

Kalifa sensed this attack and easily, without getting out, held her hands up above her to grab the bat. Her eyes were still closed, but she could sense everything around her. She kicked her blanket into the man's face and twirled into the air. She flew forwards, landing a screw-kick on the assailant.

At the sound of a pained groan, Kalifa gasped and opened her eyes. "Alfred, are you alright?" Kalifa asked.

Alfred got up and removed his mask. "You seem to be getting better, Miss Kalifa," Alfred complimented. "Miss Tano sure wasn't kidding when she said you were so talented and full of promise."

"I'm more concerned about you," Kalifa said as she ran to Alfred. "Did I break anything? Is your eyesight alright?"

"Kalifa, calm down," Alfred said as he got up. "You don't have to worry about every injured victim you come across."

Kalifa's eyes widened. "What?" she asked. "How did you—?"

"I'm a former MI6 Agent," Alfred said, pulling out the recorder. "While you managed to subdue me in three moves, you failed to see what I was going for."

Kalifa chuckled nervously. "O-Kay, you're very good," Kalifa said. She looked around. "Does Bruce know?"

"I've known every morning," Bruce's voice said. Kalifa turned to the side to see Bruce throw her a newspaper. "On Earth, all heroic deeds are always revealed to the Public, not like in Coruscant," Bruce explained. "I read that you helped a member of the Court of Owls."

"Teresa wasn't like the rest, Bruce," Kalifa explained as she looked to the Papers. "She was experimented on by the ORDER, and was manipulated by William Cobb to work for him. I couldn't let her get played by Onikage any longer."

Bruce sighed. "Kalifa, I'm not saying I'm upset with you," Bruce explained. "I'm proud that you helped out Teresa, but we've talked about getting to your Training before, and I've made a promise to take you under my wing."

Kalifa nodded. "Yes, Sir," she said with a polite bow. She went to get her uniform before grabbing a new cape. "I'll try not to sneak out again."

Bruce nodded. "Meet me downstairs," Bruce ordered. "I'm sure you're starving."

Kalifa nodded and grabbed her uniform. She ran downstairs just as Alfred left, now with food on her mind.

At the Shrine of the Court of Owls, William Cobb was meditating. His thoughts were soon interrupted when holograms of every member of the Light, with the exception of Klarion, appeared around him.

"I hear you've failed to get the Xenothium," Ra's said. "Do you realize how much we need that chemical to counter the ORDER?"

"I do," Onikage replied back as he got up. "But there was a new vigilante who got in my way."

"Is that so?" Queen Bee asked. "Who was it?"

"A Girl Wonder called Robyn, with a 'y'," Onikage explained. "She took down all of my forces, and from the looks of it, she had that Power of the Force that only the Jedi are supposed to have."

"Sportsmaster, Deathstroke and Fenrir have faced against her before," Vandal stated. "Was she really that difficult to face?"

"It is no surprise, Vandal," Count Dooku stated. "From what I have learned about Earth, Gotham City seems to be the equivalent City to Coruscant here in the Expanded Universe, and it seems that Coruscant has been where Robyn has been fighting."

"So, are you saying that she knows all Crime Gangs, and what they are capable of doing?" Lex Luthor asked.

"In a way, yes," Count Dooku replied back. "To defeat her, you would need someone unexpected, someone who hasn't taken our side yet, and can manipulate into doing our bidding."

"I know just the man," Onikage said as a sudden grin came onto his face. "I'll call you back later on."

The Members of the Light all nodded before they signed off. As soon as they were gone, William looked to a Joker Card and grinned. He looked to see where Ra's al Ghul's screen was, and noticed a small box in its place. Onikage looked inside the box and grinned once more once he saw what was inside of it.

Back at Wayne Manor, Kalifa was having a Panini for breakfast. Bruce was having some Eggs and Mashed Potatoes. Alfred was cooking some food for the two before Barbara came in.

"Hello," Barbara said. "The new Training start yet?"

"Just having Breakfast," Bruce said to Barbara as he directed his cup of Earl Grey Tea over towards another seat. "Sit down, have some food."

"Already full," Barbara said. "I already got lots and lots of waffles for Breakfast at home. My Dad was tired, so I had to make him Breakfast too!"

"Yes, can you imagine?" Alfred asked as he came over. He placed down a tray with some pancakes, as well as the Newspaper with Kalifa's Robyn Moniker on the headline. "It seems that all of are eager to become a hero." Alfred said with a chuckle.

Kalifa and Barbara looked down to the Newspaper before Barbara looked back to Kalifa. Kalifa only chuckled nervously and took a drink of her milk.

"You took down the Court of Owls?" Barbara asked. "Not bad."

"I wanted to get a feel on how Gotham is like," Barbara explained. "After we stopped Fenrir and WildStorm, I went after some guy named the Riddler," Kalifa explained, causing Bruce to accidently cough on his tea. "Then, I stopped a heist by some guy named the Penguin," Kalifa went on, causing Bruce, who was having another sip of tea, to spit out his drink. "And tonight, it was the Court of Owls," Kalifa finished up, to which Bruce had no reaction this time, due to knowing about it already. "So far, everything in Gotham is like Coruscant: crime goes on, no one does anything about it, and I've been sparing anyone who was behind the scenes," Kalifa said. "But I don't feel like I'm ready quite yet."

"You'll be ready," Bruce said as he wiped his mouth with a napkin. "But maybe right now isn't the time for surprises, if you know what I mean."

Kalifa and Barbara both raised their eyebrows with confusion. The two looked to one another and shrugged before Kalifa started to eat her waffles. "You know, I don't mind Earth Food," Kalifa said with her mouth full. She swallowed her food and tried out the syrup to put on top of her pancakes. "Doesn't beat the food at Dex's Diner, but it's still good."

Meanwhile, at the Shrine of the Court of Owls, Onikage placed on his mask and walked outside, where he was immediately met by green gas. Onikage sighed and walked right through the gas to see the Joker.

"You know that we aren't affected by your Laughing Gas, right?" Onikage asked.

"What can I say? My jokes are meant to kill." The Joker replied.

"Yes, so I see," Onikage said before handing to the Joker the box that Ra's al Ghul left. "This should help you for the challenge I'm about to give you."

"I'm not siding with the Light or the ORDER, whichever one you're working for," the Joker remarked. He looked into the box and grinned. "But I just might change my mind considering this new toy," the Joker said with his eyes wide. "So, what's my target?"

"Robyn." Onikage said.

The Joker's eyes widened. "Robin?" he asked. "He's been a pain in my side since that Ahsoka Jedi came! That's the bird I've been waiting to flip!"

"What?" William asked as he turned back to the Joker. "Oh, no, no, sorry, my mistake," Onikage said as he showed the Joker footage of Robyn fighting. "I meant Robyn, with a 'y'," William Cobb explained. "It's a Girl Wonder."

The Joker's jaw dropped almost comically. "You're kidding," he said, now sounding almost deadpan. "There's a girl named Robyn?" the Joker asked. "Ha! These kids need to come up with more original names!"

"Yes, well, this Girl Wonder has been a hindrance to the Court of Owls ever since she stopped one of our Operations last night," Onikage said. "I know you have a grudge against Batman, so why not use this opportunity to get him by taking on Robyn?" Onikage quibbled. "You can get your chance to carve a bird, and it won't have to be us."

The Joker cackled. "Don't you worry, William, I'll get the job done," the Joker said with reassurance in a slightly mad tone. "I was never able to get my hands on the Boy Wonder, but now that there's a new Bird in town, this will be a perfect chance for me to try something new," the Joker said. He looked to the side and placed his hand up to his mouth. "What, you think I'd never hurt a girl?" he asked no one in particular. "I may be serial, but I like to change my targets every once in a while."

"You know what needs to be done, Joker," Onikage said as he disappeared into the shadows and headed back to the shrine. "Don't fail me, no matter what." Onikage added on before finally disappearing.

"Oh, I won't," the Joker replied back. "Girl Wonder, you're mine!"

At Wayne Manor, Kalifa was now in her Robyn Uniform. She was walking through a white hallway, which didn't seem to have an end. Kalifa looked around with caution before she heard her foot step on something. Kalifa gasped and looked down to see she had stepped on a panel.

"Oh, Wynock Spit." Kalifa swore to herself before looking up.

A turret came out from the ground, shooting Batarangs at Kalifa. Kalifa twirled right through the Batarangs and leapt on top of the turret, making her way forward. Two razor-sharp saw blades tried to cut her, but Kalifa managed to slip right through the defenses before kicking herself off of two panels. As she flipped into the air, she soon found herself about to fall into a hole in the ground, but she performed a split to stop herself. As Kalifa rested, she suddenly saw a razor-line dash right towards her. Kalifa quickly ducked from the blades before jumping up. More razor-lines started to head her way, but she somersaulted through all of them before reaching the door at the end.

At the end of the path, Batman and Batgirl were waiting, now donned in their uniforms. Robyn leapt out from the door, and landed right into the BatCave.

"Well?" Robyn asked as she panted and looked up. "How did I do?" she asked.

"Not too bad," Batman replied back. "You have an excellent form, you were able to maintain yourself in even the most dire of those circumstances, and you didn't even lose a single stand of hair." Batman said.

"That means I did good, right?" Kalifa asked Barbara.

"You also made it quicker than it took me to complete," Barbara added on after checking her stopwatch. "I'd say you did pretty good."

Batman nodded as he looked to the large Computer in the BatCave. "Ahsoka told me about how the Jedi can use the Force to adapt to their surroundings," Batman said as he looked over all the battles that Ahsoka was involved in. "She has survived a fight in the jungle, a breakout in Arkham Asylum, and a full-out attack orchestrated by the ORDER," Batman noted. "You've been shot, and lived to tell the tale."

"I'd rather not," Kalifa replied as she took out her baton. "But I've found more ways to move on, to survive whatever life throws at me," Kalifa said before she extended her baton into a Staff. She tossed up her large Birdarang, which fell onto the end of the Staff, forming her Birdarang Axe. "I'll be ready for anything you throw at me, no matter what."

All of a sudden, Batman threw a Batarang at Kalifa. Kalifa easily caught the Batarang and looked to it. She realized that inside of it was a small vial with a chemical she recently came across last night.

"What do you know about Xenothium?" Robyn asked Batman as she looked to the vial. "The Court of Owls seemed to want it pretty badly."

"It is a new chemical formula Bruce Wayne had created to be able to counter against the ORDER," Batman explained. "However, Wayne Industries found that it was a bit too unstable, and was going to ship it to STAR Labs for further investigation, but as you witnessed this morning, news about it has spread quickly."

Kalifa raised an eyebrow. "You're making compounds that can endanger the lives of others," Robyn stated. "What you're doing could be considered about as monstrous as what the ORDER does. This isn't life-saving, this is desperation to win a war you don't understand."

Batman turned to Kalifa. "That's not true," the Dark Knight remarked. "I'm just doing this to ensure the safety of everyone."

"Then explain the Watchtower," Robyn demanded. "Why is it that you and the Justice League state that the League Base is the Hall of Justice when it is really a base that no one knows about?" Robyn asked. Batman and Batgirl looked to Robyn as she narrowed her eyes at Batman. "Ahsoka told me about the Watchtower, but failed to inform me that you and the rest of the Justice League lie about everything to the public."

Batman was left in silence. He didn't know how to respond to this. He had many secrets, not just about the face under his mask, but also about weaknesses on almost everyone in the Justice League in the case they went out of control. The matter that Ahsoka knew about the Watchtower and told Kalifa was different. He knew that he had his reasons, but he couldn't keep everything a secret forever.

Finally, Batman turned back to his two wards. "Let's just… move on with training," Batman said. "I feel like we're getting off-topic with this."

Robyn sighed. "I always wonder when the day will come when you stop keeping skeletons in the closet, and reveal your scars in the light," Robyn said as she sheathed her Birdarang Axe. "I guess only time will tell."

Batman nodded and got into a fighting stance. Kalifa entered a fighting stance of her own while Batgirl watched. Soon, the two ran towards each other, Batman attacking first with an upper punch. Kalifa used the Force to gently push aside Batman's hand and elbowed him in the chest afterwards. Batman recovered and struck with high kicks at Kalifa, but she leapt over his legs twice and struck with a kick of her own while she was still in the air. Batman groaned as he was pushed back before he tossed forwards some Batarangs. Kalifa kicked them all aside before using some of her own special Birdarangs. Some of them split into more Birdarangs, others zoomed all around Batman, and the rest let out some blinding lights.

Batman managed to dodge the first set of Birdarangs as their numbers increased before spinning around and evading the second batch of Birdarangs. However, the lights from the third batch caught him off-guard, and he stumbled backwards while trying to regain his eyesight. As he was doing this, Robyn cartwheeled towards him and landed twin palm strikes at Batman before sending a kick to his chest, knocking him back once again.

As this was happening, the Joker was watching what was happening with a small spy camera that Onikage had handed him. He grinned at how Kalifa was struggling before, but his mood soon changed when he saw what she was capable of doing.

"What?" the Joker asked as his eyes widened. "She can use tricks on her enemies too?!" he exclaimed. "That's… my thing!" he yelled out angrily. "She's stealing my thing!" the Joker exclaimed before regaining his composure. "Fine," he said angrily. "She steals my glory…" the Joker started out before taking out small lightsaber-like daggers. "I steal hers."

Batman groaned as he fell to the ground. Robyn gasped and immediately ran forwards, tending to him. "Sorry about that," Robyn apologized. "I never thought that my new Birdarangs could do so much," Kalifa explained as Batgirl came over to help. "When I used them back in the Coruscant Underworld, none of the Criminals would be able to counter back what I threw at them."

Batman got up with Kalifa and Barbara's help. "Surprise is a key element to being stealthy," Batman stated. "Whether it be on your enemy in real combat or a sparring partner, it can come in handy."

Kalifa raised an eyebrow. "That's… a compliment, right?" the Girl Wonder asked. "I can't tell because I can hardly get on your good side."

"What Bats is saying is that you've caught him by surprise," Barbara explained. "It's not always that easy to do."

Robyn nodded. She was about to speak until all of a sudden, an alarm went off.

"What's that sound?" Kalifa asked. "Is Ahsoka calling the Justice League?"

Batman ran to his Computer and started to scan Gotham. After a while, he came across the traces of the Xenothium.

"Someone's going after the Xenothium," Batman explained. "I can't identify who it is, and deciphering would take hours."

"I can help you," Batgirl said as she ran up next to Batman. "I'm a skilled computer expert, after all."

"And I can check on the Xenothium," Robyn added on. "I'll call you if I have any problems."

"Robyn, wait!" Batman called out. "Remember that any enemy can surprise you, no matter what they do," Batman reminded Kalifa as she turned back around. "Don't underestimate them, or else, it will be your undoing."

Kalifa nodded. "Um, usually, I just leap through the buildings to get to places," Kalifa said. "And I do that only at night so no one will notice me. Is there, by any chance, a way for me to get to the Warehouse much more quickly?" Kalifa asked. "I doubt I can drive the BatMobile, and I can't use public transportation."

Batman looked over to an old motorcycle that had an "R" on it. Kalifa and Barbara looked over towards it as well, both of their eyes widening with surprise.

"That was meant to be for Dick," Batman explained. "You can use it if you want to."

Robyn nodded and ran to get onto the new bike.

"Nice ride," Robyn complimented. "I'm naming this thing, and the first thing that comes to mind… is the R-Cycle." Robyn proclaimed.

"Catchy." Barbara mused.

Kalifa chuckled and started the R-Cycle. Soon, she took off towards the Warehouse through a secret passageway in the BatCave.

Kalifa rode on the R-Cycle out through some bushes in a forest. She landed on the road and started to go full throttle towards the Warehouse. She went through a tunnel, and soon, was on the main road.

Kalifa soon arrived at the Warehouse, where she found the Gotham Police Department already there. As she got off, she approached Lieutenant James Gordon and Detective Harvey Bullock.

"Another break-in?" Robyn asked.

"Yeah," Lieutenant Gordon replied. "We're calling in a Hazmat Team to make sure the Warehouse is safe."

"We've received word that some of the Xenothium has spilled," Detective Harvey Bullock explained. "This Hazmat Team coming will make sure that the Warehouse doesn't go up in smokes the minute we enter."

"Did the Court of Owls set it off?" Robyn asked.

"No sign of them so far," Lieutenant Gordon said. "No feathers or Owls in sight."

Robyn nodded. "I'm going in to make sure that the place is safe," Robyn said as she placed on a mouth-plate. "Jedi can withstand toxic materials for quite a long time, so if I find anything strange, I'll let you and Batman know."

"Be careful," James Gordon said. "We don't want to lose a good hero."

Kalifa nodded and saluted to Commissioner Gordon before she made her way inside. As soon as she entered, she found green gas inside. She quickly used the Force to push it to the side before looking around.

"All of these Crates are secured," Robyn noted as she scanned the area. "And no chemicals have been spilled," she added on before reaching for her belt. "I guess that means…" she started out before turning around. "…That this was all a trap!" Robyn exclaimed, tossing Birdarangs behind her towards her attacker.

The Joker dodged the Birdarangs and dashed towards Kalifa. Kalifa was prepared to take on the Joker, but upon getting a better look at him, she raised an eyebrow in much confusion. She simply sidestepped and tripped the Joker as he ran towards her, causing him to fall to the ground.

"What are you?" Robyn asked as she let her mouth-guard down. She placed her hand behind her back, reaching for her baton. "Is that… blood on your mouth?"

"Well, aren't you clever?" the Joker spat as he got up. "I'm sure Batsy told you all about me… Robyn, am I correct?" the Joker asked.

"Who's 'Batsy'?" Kalifa asked. "Who are you?"

"What about the Cosplay Batman, that redhead girl?" the Joker asked, not believing that Robyn had never heard of him. "She mention me?"

"What's Cosplay?" Robyn asked in even more confusion.

"Hasn't that Ahsoka girl even told you about me?!" the Joker growled. "I. Am. The Joker!"

Robyn's eyes widened. "Oh, yeah, the Joker," Robyn said before waggling a finger at the Joker. "Ahsoka told me about you," she said, gaining a smile from the Joker. "She said something about her having you at her mercy… twice."

"Then you know how serious I can be!" the Joker exclaimed, tossing some of his pocketknives towards Robyn.

Robyn stood ready to counteract against the pocketknives, but she raised yet another eyebrow when she saw them bounce off in different directions, one flying out of the windows, another stabbing into a wall, another hitting a light bulb, and another flying down exactly one millimeter in front of Kalifa.

"Really?" Robyn asked as she looked to the Joker. She let out a chuckle. "First time you're messing with me, and you've already made several big mistakes even without my help!"

"Oh, I'd beg to differ!" The Joker exclaimed.

Kalifa raised an eyebrow before seeing several lasers fire out from all of the pocketknives thrown at her. She started to leap across the room, dodging every blast before she leapt to a window. However, this was the same window that one of the pocketknives flew out of, and lasers started to rain down. Robyn gasped and spun out of the way, avoiding more of the lasers while protecting the Xenothium at the same time.

"Ahsoka told me you were a coward, but she never said you were a maniac!" Robyn exclaimed to the Joker as she took out two Birdarangs and used them to deflect the lasers.

"Oh, really?" The Joker asked. "Ahsoka must have failed to fill in a lot of the blanks if she failed to tell you about her first encounter with me and my girlfriend, the time she and Batsy went to me for answers about the ORDER at Arkham Asylum, and when she and the Young Justice stopped me and my girlfriend from taking over the World!" The Joker exclaimed before letting out a laugh.

Robyn continued to deflect the lasers before she started to redirect them back at the pocketknives. Her eyes widened when she finally started paying attention to the Joker again. "Wow." Kalifa said with mild shock.

"Terrified now, are you?" The Joker asked.

"No," Kalifa replied back. "I can't believe you actually have a girlfriend." Robyn mused.

The Joker frowned. "Now that just plain hurts." He remarked.

"Not as much as this!" Kalifa yelled, redirecting all of the lasers towards the Joker.

The Joker looked up with surprise and cackled, taking out two laser-bladed pocketknives. He redirected them right back at Robyn, who continued to deflect the lasers, even with the Joker taking her on.

"You're lasting longer than I had thought," the Joker mused. "You do Cheerleading or something?"

"As a matter of fact, I do," Kalifa replied back before sending out more Birdarangs to counter against the lasers. "But you know, it just hit me, and I was wondering if you…" Robyn trailed off before she seemingly lost her voice, but continued to talk nonetheless.

"What?" The Joker asked. "Either I'm getting deaf or I need some new batteries for my Hearing Aids." The Joker said.

Kalifa grinned and tossed some Birdarangs towards the Joker while he was in his state of confusion.

"Wow," Kalifa mused as she looked to the Joker fall on his butt. "I can't believe that actually worked."

"You…" The Joker stuttered. "You fool! You tricked the Joker!"

"Who's the fool?" Kalifa questioned as she prepared some more Birdarangs to throw at the Joker. "You fell for it!" Robyn exclaimed before walking out it the Warehouse. "I think that Gotham Police can take care of you." She said.

"At least help me up." The Joker said as he held his hand up.

Kalifa looked down and sighed before rolling her eyes. "Okay," she finally said before grabbing onto the Joker's hand. "But this doesn't mean we're friends or anything."

As the Joker was being helped up, his eyes widened. As soon as he was back up on his feet, he released himself from Kalifa's grasp and looked to his hand, where a joy-buzzer was on his finger. He pressed it against Kalifa's hand again, but nothing happened.

"What is wrong with this thing?!" The Joker complained as he looked to his joy-buzzer with confusion and annoyance. He pressed it against his own hand, but was suddenly electrocuted by it. Yelling from the shock, he fell back to the ground.

"Okay, that's all you this time." Robyn said as she started to walk away.

Before the Joker fell unconscious, he snarled at Kalifa and let out a soft cackle. Afterwards, his eyes closed.

Soon, Robyn came out from the Warehouse. Commissioner Gordon and Detective Bullock looked to her as she wiped some dust off of her uniform.

"The Xenothium's safe," Robyn informed the two Gotham Police Department Officials. "The Joker was behind it."

"And the spilled Xenothium?" Commissioner Gordon asked.

"Turns out it was just a ploy to get either my attention or Batman's," Robyn explained. "Nothing was spilled when I got in, but you'd better keep your masks on if he tries to use that Joker Venom on you," Robyn advised everyone. "He tried to use some on me when I went in." Robyn mused.

Everyone nodded as Robyn made her way to the R-Cycle. She soon placed on her helmet, and as the engine roared, Kalifa started the R-Cycle and rode off as the Gotham Police Department entered the Warehouse. However, as the Gotham Police entered, a figure came out from one of the broken windows and ran after Robyn.

On the road, Kalifa was riding back to the BatCave. As she made her way past Stagg Industries, she placed a hand to the side of her helmet.

"Robyn to Batman, come in," Kalifa said as she went off-road. "Bats, Barbs, do you copy?"

Batman and Batgirl soon appeared on a screen within Robyn's helmet.

"We're here, Robyn," Batgirl replied. "What's the status on the Warehouse and the Xenothium?" Batgirl asked.

"Both are safe," Robyn replied back. "Turns out the Joker was behind it."

"Did he steal anything?" Batman asked. "Did he hurt you?"

"No, he didn't steal anything, and he only ended up hurting himself," Kalifa reported. "Did he ever have lightsaber-like pocketknives when you fought him, or that he once tried to take over the World with his girlfriend, and more importantly, did he ever mention he had a girlfriend?" Kalifa asked with an eyebrow raised.

"Don't let him get to you," Batman said sternly. "He may seem like a clown, but he tends to make every situation dangerous."

Robyn nodded. "Gotcha," Robyn replied back. "He may have been going easy on me. If I encounter him again, I'll be sure to keep my eyes peeled for any tricks."

Batman and Batgirl nodded and signed off. Kalifa started to focus on getting back to the BatCave once again as she rode down the path. However, something didn't seem right as she passed a beaver dam.

"Funny," Robyn said as she looked to the beaver dam. "I could have sworn I passed that five minutes ago."

Kalifa was just about to enter the path to the BatCave behind a road sign before suddenly noticing it was nowhere in sight.

"Am I on the right track?" Kalifa asked herself as she looked down to the GPS screen on the R-Cycle.

All of a sudden, an explosion threw Kalifa off of her course. Robyn gasped and tried to stay on course, but another explosion was set off, causing her to fall off onto the ground and the R-Cycle rolling away to the side.

"Did anyone get the number of that bus?" Robyn asked out loud to no one in particular while rubbing her head and regaining her composure. She shook her head to get everything out of her systems before looking around.

Kalifa sensed everything around her before suddenly feeling an attack coming on. Kalifa turned around and unsheathed her baton, blocking a strike from a crowbar. As she struggled to keep the crowbar from hitting her, she saw the face of the Joker appear out from nowhere.

"I was told I'd be running into you again!" Kalifa exclaimed as she looked the Joker dead in the eyes. "Don't you have a circus to get to or something?"

"I always said I'd carve a bird, and I'm gonna keep my word!" The Joker proclaimed.

"You plan on carving me… with a crowbar?" Robyn asked as she increased her momentum. "Boy, you're one crazed fruit loop."

"A fruit loop?!" The Joker exclaimed in offense. "A fruit loop would have never been dangerous enough to end up in Arkham Asylum! A fruit loop would have never successfully been a part of a group to successfully throw the Justice League and the Young Justice off the Light's backs! A fruit loop would have never been the first villain to almost kill Ahsoka Tano and Robin!" The Joker exclaimed as he now grasped onto the crowbar with both of his hands, in which Robyn did the same with her baton. "I… am. Not. A. Fruit loop!" The Joker yelled out angrily.

Both opponents continued to try and slam their weapons onto one another before Robyn kicked off of the Joker's chest, pushing both of them back to a safe distance.

"I've heard about everything you've done, Joker," Robyn spat. "I know you're dangerous, and I am aware of what you can do," Kalifa added on. "If you want a fight, or someone who can fall for your tricks, you'll have to try harder," Robyn spat before extending her baton into a Bō Staff. "But until you can succeed, I'll be your opponent."

The Joker cackled at this. He threw aside his crowbar and took out some bombs that were shaped like his head.

"Oh, this will be fun!" The Joker exclaimed. With that, he tossed his bombs towards Kalifa while laughing madly.

Robyn kicked one of the bombs to the side before she removed her cape and captured the other two. With the bombs trapped inside of her cape, she tied it up like a sack and let them explode. Her cape didn't even so much as have a scratch on it, and as soon as the smoke subsided, Kalifa put her cape back onto her shoulders, where it fastened itself right on.

The Joker tossed some more bombs towards Robyn, but the Girl Wonder managed to dodge them all before throwing a Birdarang towards the Clown Prince of Crime. Still, the Joker continued to battle against Robyn with everything he had. He continued to send bombs at Robyn before Kalifa leapt into the air and tossed forth two bola-like Birdarangs to wrap around the Joker's grenades, forcing them to explode and send the Joker back into a tree.

Robyn landed back on the ground, twirling around her Bō Staff and placing it behind her back. As the Joker got back up, Robyn narrowed her eyes at him and made a gesture for him to attack her.

The Joker cracked his neck and chuckled, taking out his laser daggers from before. "I am going to enjoy carving a Bird like you." The Joker quipped darkly as he let the sun to shine down and reflect its light off on his new pocketknives.

Kalifa scoffed and unsheathed one of her enhanced Birdarangs, throwing it into the air. The Joker looked up and watched as the Birdarang increased in size before the Girl Wonder held her Bō Staff straight up, allowing the Birdarang to fall onto the top of her Staff. As it did, both weapons soon combined with together to form Robyn's special Birdarang Axe. Now with her own signature weapon, Robyn held the Birdarang Axe at the ready.

"En Garde!" The Joker called out, running towards Kalifa with his laser daggers.

Robyn charged right back at the Joker, and immediately, her Birdarang Axe clashed with the Joker's laser daggers. Both Robyn and the Joker struggled to gain momentum over one another once again, but this time, they were fighting for real, holding nothing back.

Robyn and the Joker pushed themselves off of each other and held their weapons at the ready once again. The Joker laughed and tossed some of the remaining bombs he had left at Kalifa with madness. Robyn managed to dodge the first three bombs sent at her, but upon using her Force Sense, saw that several bombs were flying towards her from different directions.

"You can't be the bomb when they're about to kill you, now can you?" The Joker remarked before taking out a gun.

Kalifa gasped at this sight and closed her eyes.

"Better pray while you can," the Joker teased. "Pretty soon, it'll be 'Bye, bye, Birdie' for you!" The Joker spat. He let out a mad laugh, knowing he would succeed in killing Robyn as he pulled the trigger on his gun.

Robyn didn't let the Joker's taunts get to her this time. Instead, she spread her arms out and used the Force to stop the bombs from hitting her. She could feel the bombs stop, but she opened her eyes upon hearing a small popping sound.

The Joker laughed teasingly as his gun went off, only letting out a flag that said "Bang!" on it.

"Whoops, wrong gun," the Joker said in fake embarrassment before taking out a pitch-black gun. "Now, that's more like it— whoa!" The Joker exclaimed upon seeing what Kalifa had done. "I can see why there are so many good reviews on you now."

Kalifa couldn't help but grin before she spun her arms and her whole body around, sending all of the bombs up into the air and allowing them to explode. The Joker looked up to see the bombs go off before Kalifa turned back to him and send some of the remaining bombs at the ground in front of the two of them. Smoke went off, making the Joker unable to see Kalifa move around as she ran through the smoke.

"Where'd you go?" the Joker asked as he took out his pocketknives again, but still held onto his gun. "I would have gotten some proper preparations for you if you had just told me you were a Jedi in the first place."

Robyn only chuckled before her silhouette appeared at the Joker's left side.

The Joker grinned and shot his gun at the silhouette. Much to his surprise, instead of hitting Robyn, he hit a wooden dummy of her.

"How did you do that?" the Joker asked before seeing a moving Robyn at his left. He chuckled and tossed a bomb towards his direction, but hit an actual silhouette of Robyn moving before it fell down to the ground.

"I hear you like to have fun," Kalifa's voice sounded off. "Let's play!"

"You're different, you know that?" the Joker asked. "As they say in all clichés, 'I like different'!" the Joker exclaimed, tossing bombs all around him.

The more bombs the Joker tossed, the more smoke came. However, the bombs that the Joker threw contained Joker Venom. More silhouettes of Robyn appeared, all falling over with laughter. The Joker's eyes widened when he saw that they were all Birdarangs in Robyn's shape.

Soon, the smoke cleared, and the real Robyn revealed herself standing on the Staff of her Birdarang Axe, which was stabbed into a tree.

"I must admit, you've put up quite a challenge," the Joker said as he looked up. "But I don't want the fun to end just yet."

"Me neither," Robyn said as she sent the Joker Venom into the skies before crossing her arms. "Especially since I view you as a different person," Kalifa stated. "Through all my times here, I've fought Cults and Humanist Organizations, but you… you are different," the Girl Wonder mused. "I sense that you are not of the Light, neither are you of the ORDER, or even the DarkSiders," Kalifa said. "Maybe the Court of Owls hired you to take me down, maybe they didn't, but even still, I know everything that all of Gotham's villains have to offer me, and you have offered me the greatest challenge I could have ever asked for."

"Don't flatter yourself," the Joker spat. "We may be sharing the same views on each other, but we're still standing on opposing sides of the law."

Kalifa chuckled. "I believe you," the Girl Wonder said. She leapt down with her Birdarang Axe and held it in both of her hands, now holding it with a tight grasp. "So, are you going to prove to me that you're the true Joker I've heard about or not?" Robyn quibbled.

The Joker chuckled. "I guess I need to keep my edge," the Joker quipped. "Besides, I still want a Bird to carve." He retorted. With that, he ran towards Robyn with his twin laser daggers.

Kalifa stood ready and ran at the Joker with her Birdarang Axe.

The Joker brought his daggers down on Robyn as his first strike, but Robyn used her Birdarang Axe's blade to block the daggers. She broke off afterwards and made a wide swing at the Joker, in which he ducked before Kalifa swung her weapon low. The Joker laughed and jumped up several times before stabbing at Kalifa. Kalifa managed to parry off all the attacks that the Joker sent at her before the Joker swung at her again with his laser daggers.

Robyn was forced to duck from this attack before she took out another Birdarang. She threw it towards the Joker, who tossed it into the air, but Kalifa was expecting this, and jabbed at the Joker with the pole end of her Birdarang Axe. The Joker was sent back a little before Kalifa held her pole end of the Birdarang Axe into the air, allowing the Birdarang to fall on. As soon as it fell, her Staff now had two Axe Ends. Kalifa held out her double-sided Birdarang Axe in front of her and split them apart, forming two Birdarang Axes for her to fight with.

The Joker once again laughed and tossed some of his normal pocketknives at Robyn, but she sliced them apart easily. She glared at the Joker and spun around her Axes, in which the Joker replied back by twirling around his laser daggers. He seemed to fail in impressing her, however, and nearly cut off his fingers as he twirled his daggers around in his hands. Robyn seemed to squirm at the sight of the Joker nearly losing his fingers, but the Joker revealed his fingers to come out from his gloves and laughed, in which Robyn couldn't help but chuckle a bit.

The Joker charged at Kalifa with his laser daggers once again, but Kalifa, now dual-wielding Birdarang Axes, managed to counter against him. The two locked with one another briefly, but Kalifa used the Force to push him away. However, the Joker was able to withstand this attack, but Kalifa threw a rock at him with using the Force.

The Joker yelled in horror and ducked to the side. He got up and gargled in a silly before he ran and slashed down at Robyn using the laser dagger in his right hand, but Robyn held up her Birdarang Axes and blocked the attack before the Joker attacked with his left blade. Robyn locked both of her Axes and defended herself from the attack before the Joker spun around, slamming his right dagger at Robyn again. The two locked their blades before Robyn kicked the Joker away, to which the Joker replied back by shocking her in the chest with his joy-buzzer, sending them both back.

Both Robyn and the Joker got up and looked to one another.

"I think that's enough for today," The Joker said. "When we meet again, don't think I'll go easy on you again."

"I was about to say the same thing," Robyn remarked. "See you later, laughing boy."

"'Till we meet again!" the Joker called out.

Robyn took off on the R-Cycle back to the BatCave while the Joker ran off. However, as they left, three people were watching from different angles of the scene, but did not know where each other were.

"It seems this new Girl Wonder has promise," Ra's al Ghul noted as he watched from a spy he sent to see the battle. He let out a slight scoff before his spy walked away. "Let's see just what she's made of."

At the BatCave, Batman was talking to Commissioner Gordon, disguising his voice.

"How is the Xenothium?" Batman asked.

"It's okay for now," James reported. "But we're going to send it to STAR Labs immediately in a convoy now that we know everyone's after it," Commissioner Gordon added on. "If you have your new protégé, Robyn, with you, tell her that Commissioner James Gordon thanks her for helping to realize the safety of the situation."

"I'll do that," Batman said. "And I'll send some of the League and the Young Justice to help with the convoy."

"Okay," James Gordon replied. "Keep in touch."

Batman nodded. He signed off and looked to Kalifa as she and Barbara talked with one another.

"It seems you handled yourself well out there," Batman said. "The training help?"

"Both mine and yours," Kalifa replied back, nodding. "Thank you."

"There's more to Gotham out there than you know," Batman said. "It seems you're going to be training with me and Batgirl more often."

Robyn and Barbara looked to one another and grinned. The two looked back to Batman and smiled at him.

"You wanna go the course again?" Batman asked.

"No pain, no game." Robyn replied back with a competitive smirk.
