Chapter 9-Impossible

Stella P.O.V.

Why does nobody seem to understand, that I can do nothing about the country's situation. Yes, it is my fault that Stark has started this rampage against any city that gets in his way but there's nothing I can do about it now. If I give myself up, then KORPS will simply kill me and continue their reign of terror. If I don't give myself up, then they will simply continue as they have done today.

Even if I could do something then it would be almost impossible to stop KORPS now they had so much power. Nobody would want to help, for fear of being captured or caught and even if they did offer to help, it's likely that they would kill me after finding out who I was, considering what I had let happen.

To bring KORPS down I would have to get my friends out of prison and that presented several challenges in itself. Getting into the prison, releasing them, and getting everyone out of the prison undetected. The logistics of it all was impossible.

And yet guilt had been gnawing at me for weeks now. The thought of Frank and the team, likely being tortured by KORPS thugs, made me feel sick. Stark would also have had a stab at all them. If I could even get a message to them, just to let them know that I hadn't forgotten them, but it would be impossible.

"Have you finished sulking yet?" a voice from behind me said

I whipped around in surprise, to see Patrick standing there.

"You…you came back." I thought he had given up on me

"You're angry, but you're not beyond getting yourself together and helping these people." he stated calmly

"I do want to help," I sighed sadly "but it would be impossible. KORPS is far too powerful to start any kind of successful revolution."

"Then don't incite a revolution."

"How do you suggest I stop KORPS?"

"We, stop KORPS by going undercover." He suggested

I scoffed "I thought I was the spy."

"You are, which is why I'm surprised you haven't thought of this approach before."

"KORPS are spies themselves, they will now what to look for."

"Well, they certainly won't recognise you." he argued "The disguise is very good."

"It needs to be better." I knew I wasn't being helpful but the idea was preposterous "KORPS have likely got disguise experts on hand to try and test everything."

"Then we get better disguises." He answered simply

"You make it sound so simple."

"All we need is disguises, which is simple enough when you know where to look..."

He continued to talk but I drifted off. He seemed to have it all sorted out and yet I couldn't see it working out.

"The most important thing we would need is new identity papers."

That brought me to my senses.

"How do you propose we do that?"

"I have some…" he paused "contacts."

"Oh?" I raised my eyebrows in surprise

"In today's world, it is helpful to have certain contacts." His tone revealed nothing

"You make it sound very mysterious."

"Secrets are all some of us have left." He sounded almost bitter "Let's get going. If we go now, we should find my contact by this evening."

"Hang on. You had this planned?" I was confused now

"I've been planning a few things." He was still being vague

I didn't move. I wanted more information before I took part on this plan.

"I knew that I would find you again at one point, so I laid down some plans, that I could put in to effect if needed." He explained

"How did you know I would arrive here though?"

"Oh I didn't." he said so calmly, as if the question didn't faze him at all "But I'm patient enough. You would have to come here eventually, as I knew you would never stay in the same town twice. It was only a matter of time."

"So you waited." I nodded in understanding "I just hope my friends are believe in me enough to do the same."

"We'll just have to find out."

"I still think parts of this plan are impossible," Patrick gave me harsh stare "but let's go and meet your 'contact'."

"It's improbable not impossible" He argued "and we need to do something about the situation."

"Alright then. Let's go and save the country."

Pretty please review.
