So this is the final chapter! Which is really sad, because I've really enjoyed writing this! Sorry if there are any mistakes, they are all my own.
Letty slept late the next day. She could see fingers of sun coming through the blinds when she opened her eyes and the bed next to her was still warm, so Dom couldn't have gotten up long ago. She was only wearing a pair of blue, bikini cut underwear and one of Dom's singlets and she grabbed one of the light blankets at the foot of the bed and wrapped it around her shoulders. She padded out into the lounge, which was empty, and then decided to follow her nose. The scent of freshly brewed coffee was strong in the kitchen and she poured herself a cup and walked out onto the balcony. Dom looked up at her and Jack looked over his morning bottle.
"Your Aunty Letty is a sleepy head," Dom smirked at her. Letty made a face at him as she sat down on one of the desk chairs next to him, tucking her feet underneath her. "He's been awake for a while, you slept right through his crying, so you must of needed it."
"Do you remember back at school when we would stay up with Tony? working on cars in the garage and going to bed late and then up by seven to go to school?" Letty snorted and took a sip of coffee. "Shit, if I wasn't in bed on a work night now, I'd be screwed by the next day." Dom nodded and then looked down at Jack and touched his cheek softly.
"She's a bit of a nana," Dom smirked at Jack, who made a gurgling noise at the back of his throat and gave his Uncle Dom a one-toothed smile. There was some milk gathered in the corner of his red lips and Letty reached down to wipe it away with her thumb and then pressed a kiss to his forehead. Dom leaned forward for his own kiss but Letty straightened up and cocked an eyebrow at him.
"You called me a nana," she stated. "You know exactly where you can shove your good morning kiss." She turned on her heel and headed back into the house. As she stepped through the doorway, she heard Dom talking to his nephew.
"Your aunty acts all big and tough but she's just a big softie."
He heard her scoffing in response as she entered the house.
Dom was happy.
Happier than he had ever been before.
The only thing that could possibly top his current situation would be if his parents were there. He wondered what their views would be on his and Mia's lives as he studied Letty and Mia at the dinner table, Jack on his sisters lap. They had long finished their dinner, but once the two girls got started talking, it was as though they had been apart for years instead of days.
His parents would have been proud.
Maybe not about all of his decisions and choices, but the place he had landed was one that he knew his father would approve of.
It was nearing April when Dom bumped in Elena at the grocery store. She looked good—but then again, she had always looked good.
"Dom!" She blinked in surprise before a tentative smile broke out on her face. "Hi."
"Hey, Elena," Dom smiled awkwardly before at his ex-girlfriend. She was wearing a light blue dress that hugged at her toned body and offset her bronzed skin. "You look good," he said honestly. Her smile and face relaxed slightly.
"Thanks—so do you," she added. Dom smirked at her and nodded cockily.
"Yeah, I know," he replied and Elena laughed, taking a step closer to him, the tension broken. Dom leaned against the post next to him and crossed his muscular arms over his chest.
It was easy talking to Elena—easier than he thought it would be. They finished up their shopping together and then stopped at the coffee house next door. It was automatic that Dom paid for her order and she shot him a grateful look from under her thick eyelashes. When they sat down, her leg brushed against his under the table, but he didn't think anything of it.
When Dom arrived home that night, he was surprised by the fact that dinner wasn't started in the kitchen. They had come to a comfortable agreement where whoever is home would start dinner and then the other would do the dishes after dinner. He dropped his jacket and the bag of groceries down on the couch. He walked through the lounge and into the kitchen, where he saw the back door open. Letty was sitting on one of the deck chairs, facing away from him, her legs stretched out in front of her and a beer in hand.
"Hey, Let," he greeted her, dropping a kiss to the top of her head. "Did you want to go out and order something for dinner? We could go get burgers? I'm in the mood for something greasy." She finally moved, ever so slightly, cocking her head upward. There was a strange expression on her face, one that he hadn't seen in a while. He paused and felt his body tighten. "You good?"
"Am I good?" Letty repeated, her voice eerily quiet. "You feel like something greasy, huh?" Dom raised an eyebrow as he turned side on to face her. "Maybe something blonde who walks around like she has a stick up her ass?" Dom's eyes widened as he realized exactly what it was Letty was referring to. "Neela saw you two together."
"Who—Elena?" He exclaimed, a disbelieving smile spreading across his face. Letty didn't return the smile and he realized that she was deadly serious. "Shit, girl, are you kidding me right now?" Letty finally looked up at him and he almost stepped back as he saw the fire in her eyes. It was the Latina burn that he hadn't been subjected to in a long time. She stood up, approaching him quickly, not caring as her beer bottle smashed to the ground.
"No, I'm not kidding you," Letty snapped, her eyebrow arched.
"God, it was just a catch up between friends!" Dom protested.
"Friends that used to fuck!" Letty snapped back.
"Oh, for fucks sakes!" Dom ried, throwing his arms up. He spun on his heel and stormed into the house. He would expect this from any other female—even his sister—but he didn't expect it from Letty. She had always been so chilled out and one of the guys. He spun around and almost knocked straight into Letty, who bounced back, her eyes spitting fire. "Let—"
"How would you feel if I went out and caught up with Owen?" Letty asked. Dom stopped short and a snide smile appeared on Letty's face. "Exactly. Don't go try this whole over-reacting female shit with me, Dominic. Not when you are exactly the same as me." He opened his mouth but she barreled a head. "And don't even think to argue because you're just as protective over defending what's yours!"
That was the last word she got in before Dom crashed his lips down on hers. Letty squeaked in protest and tried to push him away, flattening her palms against his chest. Dom resisted her easily, his tongue licking at the seam of her mouth before she finally relented and allowed him into her warmth. The ferocity which he attacked her mouth surprised her, and she had to take a step back to try and balance herself. Dom wasn't having any of that, following her backwards until she was forced against the door frame. The corner jarred her back and she gasped.
Dom allowed her lips to leave his and his mouth trailed down her neck, biting and nipping at the sensative skin. His calloused hands dropped her face to cup her ass, hauling her up so that her crotch was rubbing against his pubic bone. Letty's eyes flashed wide as she realized he was as hard as a rock between her legs. Then she let out a throaty moan as his mouth found her cleavage and began blazing a trail to her right breast.
"You're just getting protective over what's yours, aye, babe?" He grunted against her skin. His eeth pulled at the cup of her bra, jerking it down and releasing a hardened nipple. He took it between his teeth and pulled, making Letty keen and arch in his arms. "Babe," he glanced up at her. "Is that what's happening here?"
"Fuck, yes," Letty hissed as she cracked open one eyelid. "Fuck, yes, I'm protecting what's fucking mine—" a satisfied groan broke off her sentence as Dom's finger worked itself under the very short hem of her mini shorts and slid itself inside of her. He thrust into her over and over again and she came apart quickly, throwing her head back against the wall so violently Dom was surprised that she didn't get concussed.
He let her down, even though her legs were a bit shaky but she was back, ripping at his clothes in seconds. Dom ripped her own shorts off and then they were sinking to the floor, Letty straddling him and pulling him inside her wet heat. They both moaned as they were connected in the most primal way possible. She began to ride him, her thighs lifting her above him before she sunk back down, taking him all in.
They collapsed in a sweaty pile on the floor; Letty naked from the waist down with her shirt open and her breasts on display, and Dom still fully clothed, just his jeans pulled down her thighs.
"That's my girl," Dom breathed, pressing a kiss to her shoulder.
Despite the fact that they were all working separate jobs and living at least twenty minute drives apart, since returning from Uni, Letty had fallen happily back into a routine where she saw her friends on a weekly basis. Only seeing Giselle and in turn, Han, infrequently was something she was accustomed to but everyone else it would be unusual. So when Jesse and Shyla announced that they were going to be moving a four hour drive away, it was a teary occasion. Shyla had just finished her first yea of her Veterinary Nursing degree and had impressed one of her instructors so much, he had recommended her for a position of a newly formed clinic. It was an opportunity too good to pass up, with an excellent starting salary for a first year veet nurse, and Jesse understood that. So he had spoken with Dom, who had reached out to a friend in that township and had an opening for Jesse.
The job was starting relatively straight away, as there was only a three week time frame between Shyla's final interview and when she was going to start at the new job. That didn't give the pair much time to get their affairs in order, or the team much time to adjust.
So a week after Dom's twenty-eighth birthday, and Letty's twenty-sixth, they were having a farewell dinner for their young friends. Shyla had died her hair a neutral ash blonde that had surprised everyone.
"Shit girl, look who's conforming for 'the man'," Roman teased her as he reached out and ruffled her strangely un-colored hair. Shyla made a face at him before she was rescued from the boys by Mia and Letty.
"Okay, so just remember you can call us absolutely any time," Mia began.
"And visit us anytime," Letty added.
"Or move back," Mia piped up.
"Not because we want you to fail at your new job or anything," Letty quickly assured her.
"But because we're going to fucking miss you guys," Rosa finished, appearing behind them.
"Aw, guys!" Shyla looked around at the girls, her eyes glassy. "I'm going to miss all of you as well." She nestled her head into Mia's shoulder. "You guys are all so amazing—you're not even that scary anymore, Letty." There was a burst of laughter as Dom and Vince walked into the kitchen and heard the last part of the conversation. Letty's eyes widened as she looked from each of her friends.
"What—me? Scary?"
"Shit, yes!" Neela piped up from where she had just come in, her arm looped around Leon's waist and Brian close behind them. Jesse joined a minute later, the whole part squished into the kitchen, minus the children who were entertaining themselves in the lounge. "I was deathly afraid of being in the same room as you when I first started dating Leon," Neela added.
"I remember that," Leon grinned and squeezed his girlfriends ass playfully. "She madee me promise to never leave you alone with her when you came back in the holidays."
"Fuck!" Letty cried. "Why?!"
"You were scary!" Neela laughed. "You would beat guys up at school who were, like, three years older than you! And you gave one of my bestfriends a black eye when she teased Mia."
"Well, then she deserved it," Letty mumbled, although she looked a little sheepish.
"She was fourteen!" Neela protested.
"Plus you always have a really bitchy expression on your face almost all the time," Shyla cringed. Letty rolled her eyes and snorted.
"That's just my face," she muttered.
"Well I know that now!" Shyla laughed and everyone joined in. om put his arm around his girlfriend and Vince reached over to ruffle her hair.
"That's just our Letty," Vince said. "She just get's all protective over her family.
"And now you guys are family now," Letty told them, turning herself in Dom's hold. She looked around the room as Shyla started telling them about her new job and a lump settled in her throat. Mia laughed at something Shyla said and Leon was teasing Jesse about 'becoming a man' and 'leaving the nest'. Dom nudged her and she lifted her chin to meet his gaze, and he gave her a lazy half smile that made her stomach heat.
"You good?" He asked her quietly, his low voice so soft that only she could her. Letty dropped her head into his chest, breathing in his comforting scent and listening to her friends—her family—talking around her. She nodded, her fingers digging into the material of his shirt.
"Yeah," she breathed. "I'm good."
It wasn't until a month later that she started feeling sick. She was eating a wrap that Dom had made her for lunch when one of the boys walked in with a plastic container of his heated up lunch.
"Shit, what is that?" Letty crinkled up her nose as she smell hit her.
"Nancy is trying all these new dishes because my parents are coming into town next week," Devon Anderson grinned at her. "It's actually pretty good. It's tuna and this weird cheese sauce. Did you want to try—" he was approaching her, but Letty made a face and was surprised when her stomach turned over.
"Shit," she muttered, throwing her wrap down on the table and jogged out of the room, almost breaking into a run as she felt bile rising in her throat. She reached the toilet and kicked the door close behind her before emptying the contents of her stomach into the porcelain bowl. She wiped the back of her hand across her mouth as she slumped down on the bathroom floor. She was trying to think back on everything she had eaten that day to pinpoint what hadn't agreed with her but she couldn't think of anything. It was only when Devon had walked into the room with the God awful smelling food. She washed out her mouth and then her hands before heading back into the break room. Devon was no longer in the room but the smell was still lingering faintly, and she felt her stomach lurch again. "Fuck," she growled, throwing her wrap in the bin before heading outside.
Cool air combined with car fumes always calmed her down.
"Pregnant?!" Letty screeched. Mia raised an eyebrow and held up the little stick in her hand. Letty started shaking her head violently from side to side. "We always wear condoms and I take the pill."
"The pill isn't always effective, as I know. And really, Let? Always wear condoms?" Mia asked. Letty scanned her memory banks, remembering the impromptu fuck that had occurred after she had learned about his lunch with Elena.
"Fucking hell."
"You're going to need to start watching your language," Mia teased her.
"No," Letty snapped. "Ohmygod, no." Mia's expression faltered as she realized just how petrified her friend looked. She sank to the ground next to the Latina and linked her fingers through her own.
"What's wrong?" She asked worriedly. "You know that DOm's not going to be mad or blame you—he loves you, and you know he wants kids."
"He better not be mad at me," Letty snorted bitterly. "I didn't knock myself up."
"Then what's wrong?" Mia squeezed her hand.
"Me!" Letty cried out, jumping off the cold, tiled floor and beginning to pace. "I'm the one who's mad! I don't want kids—at least not yet! I'm not ready to be a mum!"
"You're good with Jack and Nico and—"
"Yeah, but they're not mine!" Letty exclaimed, pulling at her hair in frustration. "No offence." Mia held out her hands, palm upward, to show that offence was taken. "I can give those kids back! Ohmygod! I'm not ready to do that yet! I can't—" her face was going red and her breathing was becoming quicker and Mia jumped off the ground to grab Letty's hands. She forced her to stop pacing and look at her.
"Letty," Mia said, her voice completely calm. "You need to go and talk to Dom." Letty's eyes just seemed to widen further but Mia kept her voice steady. "You need to speak to Dom. He's the one that you need to be with right now." Letty looked like a deer caught in the headlights and Mia couldn't help but laugh. Letty's expression changed and she glowered at her friend.
"I will pull your hair and not feel any guilt," she stated, her expression deadly serious. "I am not even kidding right now."
The smile quickly disappeared.
Dom could sense something in the air from the second he walked in the door. His mind instantly began replaying the events of the day to see if he had forgotten something or done something, but he was coming up with nothing. He ventured into the living room and almost let out a sigh of relief when he saw that he hadn't done anything wrong, she was just still feeling sick. She gave him a weak smile as he came into the room and he frowned down at her worriedly.
"Do you think that maybe you should go to the doctor? You might have a virus because you've been sick for a while," he murmured as he sat down next to her on the couch. She made a face as she shifted under the blanket and he reached out to touch her forehead. "You don't feel too hot or anything."
"Nah, I'm not...I'm not really sick," Letty muttered as she leaned into his touch.
"Shit, girl, if you don't think this is really sick, you've got your thoughts all screwed up. This is the third time I've found you at home early," he slipped his fingers into her hair and massaged her scalp lightly. She didn't respond for a long time and eventually his ministrations stopped and his eyes narrowed. "Letty," he said, and waited for her to look at him. "What's going on?" Letty took in a deep breath and pushed away a strand of hair that had fallen in front of her face.
"I'm pregnant," she told him bluntly. For a moment there, he didn't react, just sat there and blinked at her. Then a smile broke out across his face and he reached out to wrap his muscular arms around her. "Oof!"Letty grunted as she was crushed against his chest. Despite her worries, she couldn't help a small smile settle on her mouth. Then he pulled back and put his hands on her shoulders, the grin suddenly gone.
"Are you okay with this?" He asked her, his voice absolutely serious, his eyes earnest. She stared at him, her breathing becoming quicker, but not in the panicked way that it had when she had seen the two lines on the pregnancy test. This kind of quick breathing made her nose twitch and her skin heat. The longer he stared at her with his deep, dark eyes, the more the sensations intensified until her eyes were feeling watery and she leaned forward to bury her face in his shoulder. "Letty?" Now he sounded alarmed, and his body jerked when he felt her intake a sharp breath that gave away the fact she was crying. "Shit, girl, are you okay?"
"Yeah," Letty mumbled into his shirt. He began to pull away so that he could see her and was surprised when he saw her face all red and blotchy and her eyes glassy. "Yeah, I'm good. I just—I panicked, ya know. I didn't know if I could this..." she took in a deep, shuddering breath and locked her gaze on his. "We got this, right, Dom?" He smile at her, cupping her face and tenderly rubbing his thumb over her cheek.
"Yeah, girl," he said solemnly. "We got this."
The rest of the year just went by so quickly. Letty continued to work, and she told an over-protective Dom that she was going to keep working until she was about to pop. It wasn't like her job involved a lot of moving around, she was sitting down most of the time, and apart from feeling a little bit of nausea, she felt fine. Mia and Rosa helped her know what to expect and also what helped them. The doctor told her that she was having quite an easy pregnancy, and that the nausea usually past with time, although sometimes woman experienced it all the way through.
That thought wasn't particularly comforting.
Things with Dom were completely different this time around. There was still that fear and worry, wondering if he was going to be a good father, and wishing that his own dad would be there to step him through what was to come. This year was the tenth year that that his parents were gone, and the pain had faded to a dull ache in the bottom of his heart, which flared up at times like this.
The first argument about the baby flared up two days before the sixteen week check up. Dom didn't want to know the sex of the baby, he wanted it to be a surprise, whereas Letty wanted to know. They went to toe to toe for almost half an hour before Letty flounced off in the direction of the bathroom and slammed the door shut. Dom was so surprised by the way she had acted like such a girl, flicking her hair over her shoulder and huffing, then bouncing away, that he didn't go after her. He gave her space before finally she came out and silently settled down on the couch next to him. He tentatively put his arm around her shoulder and she leaned into him, her mouth still fixed in a pout despite her relaxed posture.
"I think it's logical that we find out," Letty said after almost half an hour. "So that we can start buying gender specific stuff. What's your reasoning for not wanting to find out?" Dom rubbed a hand over his shaved head and shrugged.
"I don't know," he admitted. "I just think it'd be nice to be surprised." Letty pursed her lips and looked back at the TV. Dom reached out and kissed the side of her head. "If you really want to find out, then I'm cool with that." She didn't reply, but she snuggled her body a little bit closer to his.
The scan they had in the next two days wasn't the first time they had seen their baby, or the first time they had heard the little heartbeat.
But it was the first time they had seen their daughter.
Ellie Leila Toretto-Ortiz was due to be born the ninth of February.
By the time Christmas and New Years rolled around, Letty was showing. Her petite body didn't have a massive baby bump, but it was definitely pronounced. Much to Letty's displeasure but Dom's glee, her breasts had gotten a lot bigger, seemingly taken on most of the baby weight. Another side effect that Dom was enjoying was her increased libido. As if their sex habits weren't crazy enough before, he now had her bent over the kitchen bench or splayed out over the coffee table almost every night—sometimes twice a night.
Christmas Day was spent at the original Toretto house, now the O'Brian household, and Christmas Dinner was at the Toretto-Ortiz home. Jesse and Shyla had driven back into town to join them, spending the day with her family and then the night with his extended family. By nine o'clock that night, the kids were all burned out from their sugar rush with their mums close to collapsing, Letty as well. The men stepped up well, cleaning up after they had eaten and doing the dishes. Vince, Rosa and the two kids left around nine-thirty, Nico and Lilly fast asleep and laying out over their parents, the O'Brian's leaving shortly after. Jesse, Shyla, Leon and Neela were all going off to a party, living up their young years, enjoying no responsibilities. But as Dom and Letty watched them go, they definitely didn't feel any jealousy.
"You think that maybe we're just getting old?" Dom asked with a grin as he threw an arm around Letty's shoulders.
"Pfft," Letty rolled her eyes and nudged him with her shoulder. "Speak for yourself, grandpa. I'm carrying around a whole other person in me—I don't need any more of an excuse than that!" Dom grinned as they turned and began walking back into their home. The house was reasonably tidy, and Letty was too tired to even think about finishing things up in the lounge. Dom went into the bathroom to shower while Letty got ready for bed in their room. She moved slowly, unwinding the wrap around shirt she was wearing, pulling down her leggings and reaching behind her back to undo her bra. Her breasts ached slightly and she breathed a sigh of relief when they were released from the confines. After she pulled on a loose singlet and sat down on the edge of the bed, her phone started ringing. She glanced at the caller ID before putting it to her ear. "Mami."
"Leticia!" Leila was happy to get through. "I know that it's late, but I just wanted to call and hear your voice; wish you and Dominic and my grand baby a Merry Christmas." Letty smiled and moved backwards on her bed so that she could lean back in her pillows and slide her legs under the blankets.
"Merry Christmas, mami," Letty replied.
"And I wanted to tell you that I've booked my flight over a week before your due date, so that I'll be there when you go into labor," Leila added. Letty felt a sense of relief settle over her and she smiled.
"Thank you," she breathed.
"Of course," Leila was smiling on the other end of the line, Letty could hear it. "Now, I know it's getting late over there and I want you in bed."
"I'm not five mum," Letty protested weakly. "I don't have a bed time."
"I'm sure Dominic would disagree with that," Leila replied. "I love you, pétalo."
"I love you too." Letty hung up her phone just as Dom was coming into the room. He had a towel wrapped around his waist and was using another towel to dry the back of his head. He raised an eyebrow as he heard the last snippet of her conversation.
"You talking to your boyfriend?"
"Secret lover," Letty shrugged off-handedly.
"Should I be worried?" Dom smirked.
"It's just a fling, nothing serious," she shot back. "I'm only with him to scratch an itch."
"You said 'I love you'," he pointed out.
"He's clinging," she grinned at him. Dom rolled his eyes as he threw his towels back toward the bathroom and came into the room fully. As he slid into the bed next to her and turned to her, Letty rolled over so that she could throw her arm over her waist. "It was mum. She was just wanting to say Merry Christmas and that she's booked her flights for February." Dom nodded as he put his arm around her shoulder and reached out with his other hand to flick off the lights.
"That's good," he murmured, his mouth pressed against her silky hair.
"Yeah, it'll be good to see her again," Letty said.
"You miss her?" Dom asked as he shifted further down and wrapped his other arm around her so that she was cocooned. She mumbled something to him that indicated the affirmative. "Hey, Letty?" He asked. For a long moment it sounded as though she was going to reply, but then he felt her moving in his arms and he could vaguely make out her face tilted up to his. "Are you happy?"
"What?" Letty asked, her fingers tightening on the skin of his waist.
"Are you happy?" He repeated, his hand tracing up and down her back. She swallowed hard and wiggled herself up so that she didn't need to tilt her head up to look at him and could look straight into his eyes.
"I'm with the man I love, and I'm having a baby with the man I love," she murmured.
"Yeah?" Dom asked.
"Yeah," Letty grinned and leaned in to kiss him softly on the mouth. "Why do you ask?"
"Because I'm so fucking happy," Dom told her. "And I just need to know that you're here with me."
"I'm here, Dom," Letty murmured, kissing him again. "I'm always going to be here with you."
Weeeeell, guess what? It's my birthday today. Whoop whoop. Twenty-one years. Shit, I feel bloody old. And in true twenty-first fashion, I'm working until eight tonight and then this weekend, going out to dinner and probably home by ten. Haha. I'm such a nana, and I totally love it.
Oooh, and I saw Pitch Perfect 2! Ohmygod, so good. I mean, no where near as good as the new one but still very good. Elizabeth Banks is so incredible, and I love Anna Kendrick, she's adorable.
Thank you guys so much for your support and love. Let me know what you think one last time :)
