Chapter 9: I Saw What You Did Last Monday

"Oi Sesshomaru! It's time to tell me who these people are!" I shot two arrows simultaneously into the two demons a few meters away from us. I infused my spiritual powers to the arrows but only one of them was purified while the other was hit but just laid down on the ground, bleeding. We've been fighting for quite some time and I'm almost out of arrows in my quiver. And through this seemingly endless fighting, I found out that some of the demons who are attacking us cannot be purified. I thought he said our enemies are low-level yokais…
I glanced at Sesshomaru who appear to not heard what I said because a group of demons pounced at him though they can't even touch him 'coz he is lashing his poisonous whip around him like a dancing snake and mercilessly slayed those demons in a way that their blood are splatting all over him and the weird thing is… he seems to like it. That's what you called creepy! Some of them were frightened and backed out, while the others who you can only call as idiots-who-don't-care-about-their-damned-lives are continuously attacking him like there's no tomorrow. Well, there is literally no tomorrow for them if they went on with their business with us. I got distracted because of the beautiful yet creepy creature known as Sesshomaru so I didn't notice that those demons who were frightened by the dog daiyokai are now attacking me.
Ha! You thought I'm weak?! Take this! I focused my spiritual energy to my whole body and created a pinkish-coloured barrier around myself. And thus, these insolent demons who dared to pounce at me blast off and created more pink light which almost covered the whole area.
And so, Sesshomaru can't ignore me anymore because those who were attacking him just awhile ago were also purified by my barrier, while those who managed to survive are now frozen to their places, utterly terrified. Someone even managed to say, "Who the hell is he?!"
Somewhere in the crowd, a deep voice was heard. "She is the priestess who holds the Shikon no Tama. You are only a fool if you cannot even sense that." The demons immediately gave way to the one who spoke.
My eyebrows slightly raised. "Tengu…"
The man who is staring at me with his impassive pitch black eyes suddenly gained a different shade of color, like he's amused on what I said. "I am quite surprised that you know my kind even when I am on my human form, priestess." He smiled and a sudden cold wind gashed behind him, passed me and Sesshomaru who is now standing on my left side, holding the hilt of his Bakusaiga. And I know why he's acting like that. Because the man in front of us has revealed his black wings and now a few inches above the ground, while his long, straight dark hair which can only be described as dark as the night itself is blowing around his face. I can't help but to stare at him and be awed by his pale dark coloured-skin which perfectly matches his rather beautiful face and yet stony features. I cannot call him 'handsome' because he's too pretty and to be honest, he is the second creature which I can call truly beautiful in every sense of the word.
"The way you are staring is making me blush." He chuckled. Though I don't know how he did that while still wearing an impassive face.
Wha—? Is he joking?! His lack of emotion is giving me goosebumps! Forget about the beautiful part! He's creepier than Sesshomaru! Burr! I cursed myself for ever gawking at him.
I shivered and Sesshomaru glanced at me. "Cold?"
"You bet! This creep is creating wind all over the place! Thank God I'm not wearing a skirt!"
He ignored what I said and faced the tengu again. "Who are you? I am certain that this is the first time we have encountered."
"Of course my Lord, this is the first time." He smiled —and again, without emotion—and slightly bowed. "I cannot possibly show my face to the one and only Lord of the West without gaining first some powers which I can match up with you."
I glanced at Sesshomaru and saw him raised an eyebrow. "What is a tengu like you doing, leading demons who are not of your kind?"
Wow…as expected of Sesshomaru. Flat out ignored what he said about gaining some powers…
He paused. Slowly, his pretty mouth is beginning to change into something pointy and his dark skin is starting to be concealed with something black. After a few seconds, we saw his true form and honestly, I'm quite disappointed. After all, his beautiful skin and face is now covered with black feathers and has a short yellowish beak for a mouth.
"You do not expect me to bring my race and loyal followers to you, my Lord? This is merely a…" he paused, as if thinking. "Humans call this 'warm-up'. Yes, this is only a warm-up and these demons are my sacrifices."
I heard gasps from the other demons and most of them are wearing outraged faces. So they also don't know what this tengu is planning. And they can't do anything to him because he has this 'power' over them… Poor yokais… Now I'm feeling guilty because I purified those demons without asking first their reasons…
"You do know that by doing this, you are making this person as your enemy?"
"Of course I do my Lord. I do and I am certain. Also, I am not a fool to abruptly show my face to you without making enough preparations. I was born to an elite family so it is only right for someone like me to politely greet the one whom I am going to trounced, especially if it someone as supreme as you, my Lord." He smiled impassively again. As if that smile is plastered on his eerie face.
"What do you think are you saying?! Are you out of your mind?! You should take that back before this dog took you seriously!"
"Oh. I almost forgot about you."
"WHAT?!" I clenched my fist. I sooo want to hit him and wipe out that creepy smile off of his face!
"A priestess, siding with a daiyokai? That is a first. Though I must say that having you at his side is definitely a threat. So I have to put my plans on hold for a little while before I execute it. You just have to wait for it, my priestess."
"My priestess?!" I shivered again. This tengu is really giving me the chills!
"Well then, I shall bid my goodbye. Till we meet again, and I assure you, that that time will be the last."
"HUH?!" I look at the surroundings and I just noticed that the other demons are long gone while the tengu is now flying a few meters away from us. "WAIT! Where do you think you're going?!" I shot three arrows consecutively but he defend it with his wings so I focused all of my spiritual energy to the single arrow left on my quiver. It fired like a bullet, surrounding the tip with a whirlwind of pink light. Unfortunately, it was already too late for my arrow to reach him because he flapped his wings faster and flew to somewhere I can't see him. I knelt to the ground, panting. He escaped! Urgh!
"Do not let it bother you too much." Said Sesshomaru who is now entering a car with Sakemaru ushering him inside.
"WHAT?! When did you—?! WAIT!" I stood up and stopped the car-door from closing. "You're not the least bit worried?! He said he have 'plans'! And that plan is to destroy you!"
He stared at me with that 'why-are-you-so-dumb' face again. "Higurashi Kagome. For how long do you think this person is living?"
"Huh? Uhm…more than 500 years?"
"For how many times do you think this person has encountered vermin like him?"
"Huh? I don't know? Ask yourself!"
He sighed irritably. "What I am saying is, he is not the only person who threatened of destroying me, especially with my duty as the ambassador between humans and demons. I have encountered the likes of him a million times and for that million times, all of them were crushed. You do not believe on my abilities if you are having doubts, do you?"
"Wha—! That's not it!"
He smirked. "Then the only thing I can think of is, you are worried about me."
"H-HUH?! O-Of course not!" I can tell. My face is now flushed. "What worried?! Who will be worried in a big dog like you?!" Then I brusquely closed the door to his face, shouted a, "Goodbye!" and run towards the direction to my house.

(KYOUYA's P.o.V)
"What the—?" What in the world was that…? I stared at Kagome who is now running to what I think is the path to her house, and then to the black car who is now quite a distance away from where I am currently standing—behind a large and old tree. My eyes then went unconsciously to the orange-coloured sky, where I last saw that black creature with wings which I just saw as a normal-looking man before he turned(?) into that thing. I clasped my forehead incredulously and leaned my elbow to the trunk of the tree. "Now I'm regretting of leaving them on the car. I should've brought them with me if ever I want witnesses." I sighed. "No. Who would believe in this thing anyway? I'll only be called as crazy or even worse, a psychotic. And if I brought them here, they will surely show themselves and get killed because…those creatures are clearly not humans." Then I remembered Kagome, and that move she made…
(15 minutes ago…)
"Where are you going Kyouya-sama?!"
"Kyouya-sama! Please don't do this!"
"Your father will fire us!"
I first turned my head, followed by my whole body and then fixed my eyeglasses to place. Then I deeply sighed. I was still only few steps away from them so their shouts are still ringing to my ears. "I am only going to walk on a public park. It's not like I'm going to get kidnapped. So stay there and wait till I get back."
"But—!"
I turned and start walking again while saying, "I'll be back before you know it." I walked deeper to the forest-like park and spotted a group of people. I hid myself behind a tree but made sure that I can hear what they're talking about, though for some reason, they are not saying anything. Why aren't they moving…? Then my eyes went to the two person who are facing their back on me and my eyebrows shot up. Long, straight white hair… that is definitely Lord Sesshomaru! And the one on the right side is... The person who is standing a few meters on his right side has a quiver on its back and holding a bow. That person is also wearing the Ouran High's designated male uniform. Kagome…? Yeah…it must be her if she's with Sesshomaru-sama…
"Who the hell is he?!" I heard someone's shout on the back. Who…?
"She is the priestess who holds the Shikon no Tama. You are only a fool if you cannot even sense that." A pale dark man, with a long dark hair and black eyes appeared on the crowd and it looks like he have an authority over those men who are behind him. Priestess? Shikon no Tama?
"Tengu…" I heard Kagome's voice. So it is Kagome… She said 'tengu'… I think that means a…'Heavenly Dog'…
"I am quite surprised that you know my kind even when I am on my human form, priestess."
Priestess… So he's referring to Kagome… "What in the world are they saying…?" I whispered to myself.
Then something bizarre happened. A gash of cold wind blast to my face so I have to hug on to the trunk of the tree. And when I looked up, I was completely stunned from what I saw. That dark man who Kagome called as tengu is now a few inches above the ground. Not only that, he has a pair of black wings on his back. But what shocked me the most is that Lord Sesshomaru is now beside Kagome in a blink of an eye, apparently protecting her from that creature with wings.
I stared at that man and thought for a second, while holding the middle part of my glasses. "I think in fictional books, those creatures with black wings are called as 'fallen angels' or 'faeries'. It was said that fallen angels are angels who were ripped off of their wings because they had a sexual relationship with humans while faeries are said to be the offspring of angels and demons…" When I looked up again, my jaw dropped and my eyebrows shot up. Yes, my mouth is opening so wide I can't even believe it myself. Who wouldn't? If you saw a man, changing into something else. Wait. 'Changing' is not the right word. More like, transforming? Before I knew it, that pale dark man is now a…how should I describe it? He has black feathers with a yellowish beak who I remembered as his mouth a while ago, and of course, a pair of black wings. "Fallen angel? Certainly not." Then I remembered something. Tengu… Then it struck me. "Yokai…" Again, I can't believe it myself. The great Ootori Kyouya, believing in such things as yokai? I took a glanced at Lord Sesshomaru then stared at the 'tengu' and smack my forehead. "So they are real…"
"What do you think are you saying?! Are you out of your mind?! You should take that back before this dog took you seriously!"
My attention was caught by Kagome's voice and base from it, she looks mad.
"Oh. I almost forgot about you."
"WHAT?!" Really mad…
"A priestess, siding with a daiyokai? That is a first. Though I must say that having you at his side is definitely a threat. So I have to put my plans on hold for a little while before I execute it. You just have to wait for it, my priestess." Daiyokai? I think it means a 'Greater Demon'… He said "a priestess siding with a daiyokai", so it means that that 'daiyokai' is Lord Sessomaru…
"My priestess?!" What?! He dared to say that?!
"Well then, I shall bid my goodbye. Till we meet again, and I assure you, that that time will be the last."
"HUH?! WAIT! Where do you think you're going?!"
He's flying away… Then I saw Kagome shot three arrows consecutively but the 'tengu' protect himself with his wings. That is a practical way of defending one self and Kagome sure is skilful in kyūdō. And then Kagome readied her bow and what I think is her last arrow. Again and again, I can't believe what I'm seeing because…a pink light is forming on the tip of the arrow and when she shot it, it looks like the arrow is cutting through the wind in great speed. Regrettably, the 'tengu' managed to escape and Kagome is left panting in exhaustion.
"So what she did accumulated most of her energy…" I said to no one in particular but in my mind, I want to run to her and help her stand up.

I began walking towards my car where Tachibana and the other two are waiting. On my way, I remembered the conversation between Kagome and Lord Sesshomaru. She said he's living for more than 500 years and she's worried about him while blushing. What? Wait! Why did I remember that part?! Okay. I know the two of them are close but I don't know what they're real relationship are. And the bottom-line is, I don't have any idea why I care. Though what I learned so far is that Kagome is a priestess while Lord Sesshomaru is a Daiyokai and there are a lot of people who are after his life. So he's that important? My concern now is, should I tell it to others?
"Kyouya-sama! What took you so long?!" Tachibana run towards me, while Morita and Ajishima are waiting beside the car, and has a worried expression on their faces.
"I was only gone for fifteen minutes, Tachibana."
"Then what happened?" He walked beside me.
"What 'what happened'?
"Because you saw something there, right?"
I swiftly glanced at him. "W-Why did you say that?"
"Just a hunch and based from your reaction."
I raised an eyebrow. I'm pretty sure I maintained my expression to what I normally wear.
"I have been working with your family for years so I know that something happened when you are trying to remain impassive, Kyouya-sama."
I turned my head away from him, fixed my eyeglasses to place and looked straight ahead while thinking, "Should I? Should I tell it to him…?"
"No. Nothing happened in particular. I just saw an explicit scene from a couple who are doing their thing while I was walking my way back here."
With that, Tachibana became beet red and refused to look at me. "T-T-That m-must have s-shocked you K-Kyouya-sama…"
"Not really." Well…other things shocked me.
He rapidly turned his head to look at me and I'm sure I heard a crack from his neck. "K-K-Kyouya-sama—! Y-You—!"
"Let's go Ajishima." Ajishima entered the driver's seat while Morita opened the door for me and then entered the other door, beside him. Whereas Tachibana is still blushing awkwardly when he entered the car beside me.
While driving, Kagome's face appeared on my head. Why is she studying at Ouran and hiding her gender? Why is she with Lord Sesshomaru, a daiyokai? Why won't she look at me…? Maybe I won't learn the answers to my questions in this lifetime.

And there you have it! The chapter 9! Yey~! I'm sooooo happy that I managed to write something like this! Well…my battle scenes are still crappy so I have to improve myself! Nevertheless…I'm glad! And I laughed at Kyouya's reactions! Ahahaha~
The plot is running smoothly according to my outline so there are still quite a lot of chapters on the list before I finished this story. Wait! I forgot to put the name of the Tengu! Oh well, you will learn his name on the following chapters. And this story has a lot of OCs so I hope you don't mind it because they are necessary to finish this.
Who wants to see Shippo?! Ahahaha~ don't worry! He will appear, though not on the next chapter so please wait for it!

'Tengu' literally means 'Heavenly Dog' who takes the form of dog-like creatures with red face, long nose and black wings. But nowadays, they are pictured as something close to a humanoid crow as seen with most animes with Yokai theme like Nurarihiyon no Mago and Kamisama Hajimeshita.
So I'm so sorry if it confuses you. TT^TT
