And so the story continues… Fire Emblem Awakening, Tales of the Amazingly Stupid.
Chapter 10. Before we get into our mini-prologue…
He sighed as he ran a hand through his pearl white hair. "Sis…" He felt aggravated… These last two years have been so hard for him… Dumb-father Validar has been sending Plegia into a never-ending cycle of turmoil, and Rufure doesn't have the slightest clue as to how to fix it. He missed Robin… He missed her so much.
He wasn't going to sit around anymore, and wait for a miracle … No, he wanted to find his baby-twin-sister… The only one who was real family to him… Ever since their mother had passed, Rufure and Robin practically took care of each other, and their father nearly ignored them.
Robin wasn't the only person he was going on this expedition for. "Marcia…" Rufure looked out the window and saw little Marcia happily waiting for her father.
Never thought I'd… Get married, heh… Who… Who is she I wonder…? Who is my bride?
He yearned to know, and it burned inside him knowing that Robin could be out there all alone, and to find out why Marcia is here… Why is she from a different time-period? And why is it that she doesn't know? He loved Marcia! That much he knew… But the fact that she came from a so-called "future" … Doesn't exactly sit right with him.
He continued packing together his belongings; he didn't even bother with leaving notes for anyone, because his Plegian guards were also family to him and Robin, he only told a few trusted ones about his trip, and that they wouldn't tell, and keep this information from spreading like mad-cow disease.
He definitely didn't want to stir up any panic at Plegia Castle once they find out the prince is also missing… There was one person in particular… Eustace… Who he hasn't seen in so long! … Could he be out there too? Is he with Robin at this very moment as he talks to himself?
The thought of that lightened his burden JUST a little…
Once he had finished packing, he thought carefully about possible scenarios on the road ahead… Heh. Just like his sister would do. Think ahead.
She always was a brilliant strategist. Better than their father!
"Ah!" He snapped his fingers. He quickly walked over to his dresser, got on his knees, and looked under it. "I'm surprised…!" He said with joy as he pulled out two brown faded robes with hoods, "They're still here!" He dusted them off.
Two tall brown cloaks with long hoods… "Heh…" Rufure was reminded… Reminded of when he and Robin would wear these robes to disguise themselves while they go play pranks on city-folk, annoying guards, or their father.
"Marcia and I might need these." He got off of his knees, and quickly looked over his dresser, but before going to put the robes away, a familiar object caught his eye.
It was a picture. A picture of himself, Rufure… Smiling, and Robin smiling as well. When they were small children… And then his eyes met with the hideous figure above them… The worst part of it all… His father. He winced disgustingly as he looked at him in the picture.
His father… That insane dastard that practically forgot his daughter even existed, and doesn't even feel any love towards his granddaughter.
He quickly set the robes down, took the picture out of its frame, and just starred… Then he quickly, but cleanly, ripped Validar off of the picture. Once he looked back at the picture, just the child-version of Rufure and Robin.
When he looked at the Validar half, he simply dropped it on the floor, as if forgotten, he folded the half he kept, and stuffed it into his bag.
Down stairs outside with Marcia.
"Ah! Father!" Marcia stood up, "Ready to go?" She smiled, "I am! … Here. Put this on." He handed her the robe.
And now for our Prologue.
After the war, Chrom and Robin dedicated themselves to repairing Ylisse, and healing the scars and wounds from Plegia's blows. Once they finally restored harmony to the country, Robin and Chrom were wed, and lived with the blessings of their comrades, and friends all around them… Except for Tharja and Cordelia of course.
After two years of peace, Chrom and Robin (-got wild, and-) had a beautiful baby girl, named Lucina.
BUT ONE DAY…
"A word from Khan Regnant Flavia, milord." Frederick took a small bow at Chrom, who was now… dressed in a new… armor. Guess the last two years have taught him well. He was a Great Lord!
SEE WHAT I DID THAR?
"Oh? See them in at once." Chrom looked at Frederick, whose head was still bowed, "You… You can lift your head up now, Frederick." Chrom's eyebrows became a big line. "Oh! Right!" His head shot up.
"HEY! RAIMI! THAT'S YOUR CUE!" Frederick yelled at off-screen, and Chrom winced at how his voiced echoed and LOUD too.
"Ow!" Raimi walked in, her pinkie wrenching her ear canal, "Oh sure! Why not just shatter my ear drum while you're at it?!" She approached.
"Sorry. He'll do that." Chrom glared at Frederick, who had a proud smile on his face.
"Anyway, you said a message from Flavia? Must be urgent." Chrom looked at the woman in green. "Yes. She'd like to request if you could come over to Ferox to discuss the manner." She looked at the Lord in return.
"Hmm…Yeah, alright. Tell Flavia to expect us." He told her. "Yes, milord." Raimi walked off. "Frederick, get everything ready for the tri-OW!" A blue rubber ball smacked Chrom in the middle of his forehead, "Oh! SNAP! Sorry, milord! My wife, Cordelia gave me this ball this other day." He picked it up off the ground.
"Right… Right, it WAS your birthday last week…" He rubbed his forehead, "But watch what you do with that thing, darnit!" Chrom winced.
"Sorry, milord…" Frederick tried to cover up his snickering, but failed. "Just… go get things ready!" He facepalmed.
Shepherd's Garrison
"Hey, guys-WHOA!" Chrom quickly dodged a fireball that was "misfired" by Tharja, who was now a Sorcerer. "Oops… Sorry, Prince." Tharja smiled gleefully.
"… Right… It's… It's fine." Chrom sighed. He was definitely well aware of Tharja's intense love for Robin… It was even more awkward hence the fact that she was married to Libra… Strange thing was that he loved her, and was very accepting of her jealous streak.
Chrom could even remember what happened right after he kissed Robin at the reception of his wedding. A frog slapped him in the face, and knocked him over…. Yeesh…
"Yes, Captain?" Sumia looked over at the door entrance as she was watching Gaius practicing his archery skills as an Assassin, "That was amazing, Gaius!" Sumia smiled happily. Gaius blushed and smirked.
Not only did Gaius, and Chrom look different, but Sumia was Ylisse's second in command of the Pegasus Knights, she herself was a Falcon Knight. Cordelia was the other second in command, Dark Flier. Phila's duty never really changed.
Stahl the Paladin directed his attention to Chrom, who was playing cards with Kellam. Who was a General next to Frederick. Obviously some people thought he was invisible… While others literally said, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! HE IS LITERALLY, RIGHT THERE!"
Panne… Was a still a taguel at heart, but became Ylisse's first and finest Wyvern Rider, hence her beast stone broke during the war.
Miriel kept half an ear, while reading her books, she dressed as a sage. Much like Emmeryn, but with a black and red color scheme. Vaike was now a Warrior, and he actually improved a little at fighting! Much thanks to Stahl, Kellam, and Frederick. He and Miriel were now married.
Nowi was still a Manakete, but had taken a few lessons on magic and staves from Maribelle, who was now a Valkyrie. She married Gregor, who became a Bow Knight.
Ricken was an advanced Dark Knight, he was doing a quick old sparring with his loving girlfriend, Lissa, who became a War Cleric, and was actually using axes instead of her staff… But that didn't mean she didn't use it for a good swinging every now and again.
Donnel and Eustace were two of the top soldiers in the Shepherds. Eustace and Anna were seeing each other, and Donnel was married to Nowi.
"Shepherds." Chrom faced the room, "We received orders from Regna Ferox. About what, we don't know… But I wager it best we get prepared. So grab your weapons, or staves, or tomes, and meet me at the wall outside the Courtyard!"
Back at the main hall
Chrom scurried down the steps, and just stood. He began pondering about this sudden request… Would they have to get dragged back into the battlefield again? One should hope not.
"Chrom?"A familiar voice made his eyes light up as he looked to his right to find his beloved wife. Who was now a Grandmaster Tactician of Ylisse.
"Robin!" She approached him, with a small pink bundle cradled in her arms. "How… How's Lucina?" He smiled at the small baby's sleeping face.
So cute, so innocent, so fragile.
"She's just fine, Chrom." She smiled at him, "Come on now, it's me." Chrom knew well of how protective she was over Lucina. And he was too of course. They both would do anything to keep their family safe.
"So when were you gonna tell me that you were going to Ferox? AFTER you came back?" Robin cocked an eyebrow and smiled. Chrom looked shocked, "H… How did you know about that?" Chrom's eyes widened, "Lissa." Robin responded automatically, and smiled.
"Ooohh! Darn it, Lissa! You should know I didn't want Robin to come along!" Chrom looked up at the stair well where Lissa was watching the royal couple talking.
"Hehe! Come on, Chrom! No way in heck are you gonna go without Robin's tactical genius!" Lissa propped her head in her hands, and starred.
"I… I could do it!" Chrom got flustered, "Oh sure! Your board matches with Robin are just FLAWLESS… Especially how you put that Pegasus-Knight piece in the archer's line of sight!" Lissa sarcastically said.
"That was-!"
"Or when you literally made a knight get GANG-BANGED by three mages!" Lissa's malice towards her brother was increasing as she was watching him get really flustered, really fast.
"True. You are pretty easy to beat." Robin's eyes glided to the side, "Robin!" Chrom said in a hushed tone. Robin giggled, "Why… don't you want me to come along, Chrom?" Robin looked at him questioningly.
"Well it's just… I'm just worried about you… And Lucina." Chrom cupped his fist in his other hand. "I would feel better knowing that you're safe here, at the palace. Besides, Lucina needs her mother now."
"Booooooring! You suck at giving reasons bro!" Lissa called from off-screen. Where she was ignored, and Robin was somewhat laughing at her attitude.
"… ANYWAY..." Chrom said loudly, "Chrom… Didn't you tell me that you and Lissa were wet-nursed growing up?"
"Yeah, but, Lissa and I only had Emm… I want Lucina to grow up with her whole family around her…" Chrom protested weakly.
"And she will… Once we take care of what we have to! Don't worry, Chrom. I'll be careful… I promise. Besides, Lucina is a strong child. She takes after her father; the brand in her left eye proves it." She smiled. And when baby Lucina opened her sweet small eyes, her left one held the brand of House Ylisse.
"…" Chrom opened his mouth to say something, "…. Oh, alright." He conceded defeat. "YES! Oh, man! This is gonna be like old times!" Lissa jumped for joy, and slid down the stair rail.
After making quite a trip to Regna Ferox, Chrom, Robin, Frederick, and Lissa walked down the Great Hall of Feroxi Castle. Where they were greeted by Khan Flavia, and Ex-Khan Basilio.
"Hey Flavia!" Lissa smiled and waved her hand, "Lissa!" Frederick quickly scolded her care-free attitude towards Khan Royalty. But Robin and Chrom didn't seem to mind much, that's just how Lissa was.
"Khan Flavia." Chrom said.
"Hey, Prince Chrom. You came." Flavia smiled. "Sorry we're late. We uhh…" Robin trailed off.
Suddenly they could a voice coming from outside.
"Okay… On three… One… Two… THRE-AAAH!" A loud thud sounded.
"Oh… Right, right. Don't sweat it… As long as you could make it." A small sweat slid down Flavia's head. "ANYWAY… What's this whole 'message' about?" Chrom looked at the Khan.
"Oh, right, uhh… Well, our Valmese neighbors are no longer acting so friendly. Rumor has it, that some conqueror is taking over countries of it, piece by piece." Flavia explained. "And we have a few allies that escaped from… Dare I say it… Walhart's grasp."
Chrom, and Robin snickered at the name, while Lissa and Frederick were still somewhat arguing.
"A-Anyway…" Chrom continued snickering, "Whose the uh…" He smiled, "The two escapees?" He couldn't help it.
"Pffftt… WALHART…!" Robin mocked in an exaggerated tone, and Chrom couldn't contain his laughter. Flavia smiled and cocked an eyebrow, "Okay, okay, fine, fine. Get it out of your system!" She snickered.
"OAF! Where are you, you big, bald-… Chrom is here!" Flavia turned her head a little and shouted.
"I'M IN THE SHOWER!" Basilio called from off-screen.
"G'ah… WELL HURRY IT UP! WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THE MISSION!" Flavia responded.
"OH SHUT UP ALREADY, I'M ALMOST DONE!" He responded, followed by a huge crash, "OH DAMMIT, LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME-… G'AH!"
There was an awkward pause.
"Chrom!" A familiar voice called. "Hm?" Robin looked behind Khan Flavia, and saw two familiar faces, and one whom they've never met before.
"Sully!" Lissa piped up and ran towards the crimson Paladin, "Hey girly!" Sully caught her in a big reunion hug. "Hey-Hey, Sully!" Robin joined on the hug, "Robin!" Sully laughed and hugged them both.
"Greetings my fare peers. I don't believe it is we've met before…" A familiar French accent ensued. "Oh hey, Virion!" Chrom smiled, "We all know who you are, asshole." Frederick said towards the Sniper.
Flavia couldn't contain a laugh.
"Alas, but you-" Virion stuck a finger in front of him.
"People, Duke Virion of Rosanne." The unfamiliar figure finally spoke up.
"Darn it, Cherche! You stole my moment!" Virion started stomping angrily. "HAR! Nice one, Cherche!" Sully highfived the Wyvern Rider.
"PFT!" Lissa covered her mouth from the laughter. Frederick did his best to muffle a chuckle, "A-Anyway, I believe it is time we… get to down to business." Frederick continued laughing.
"Right as always, Fred." Chrom smiled. "Anyway, Sully, Virion, and whatsyourface-Cherche? Is it? What it is you can tell us about this…" He snickered, "Walhart." Robin couldn't contain her giggles.
"Cherche, yeah. Anyway, Valm used to be a small country, almost unnoticeable… Until Walhart-Ha- started dominating country by country, and by god was there a lot of blood-shed, I barely escaped with my life, and then Virion was all like, "CHERCHE FOR THE LOVE OF GODS, SAVE ME-AAAAHH!"" Cherche mocked, "And then Sully came in, slapped Virion, told him to get a hold of himself, aaaaand… Yeah, here we are." Cherche concluded.
"That's putting it sweetly!" Robin laughed.
"Yeah, believe me, you don't want to hear the long version." Cherche winced at the weird memory. "Totally cool, so what you're saying is…. We need to get over to Valm, stop Walhart, and liberate all of the countries again?" Chrom asked.
"Pretty much."
"PIECE O' CAKE!" A blunt voice sounded, "Oh gods… Well, look who decided to show up!" Flavia turn to the stair-case to find Basilio, with a pink towel wrapped around his head.
"I am SET, and ready for action!" Basilio stepped next to Flavia.
"When do we depart?" Another familiar voice called off-screen.
"Hm? Oh! Olivia! Lon'qu!" Robin said happily, "Hi, Robin." Olivia smiled shyly as she waved to her old companions, Olivia didn't exactly change, but the last two years have taught her well, she was way better at swordplay, thanks to her husband SwordsMaster, Lon'qu.
"Oh, you guys remember these two, don't'cha?" Basilio smiled, and started rubbing his shiny cranium. "Of course! Who wouldn't remember these two? Ya know we've all been waiting for when you guys would come back to Ylisse for a visit." Robin smiled.
"I know, and we're sorry…. But we were busy trying to help Ferox repair itself." Olivia smiled wryly.
"Okaaay, can we PLEASE cut to the chase and get out to Valm now? Uuuugggghhh…" The War Cleric leaned against her axe.
At the Feroxi Docks
"Oh! Well, LAH-DEE-DAH! This place is crawling with Valmese troops! WHO WOULDA' GUESSED?!" Nowi sarcastically yelled.
"I KNOW! I mean here we are! Just strutting right along to get over TO STUPID VALM OVER THERE, BUT NOPE. WE'VE TO GET BLOCKED OFF BY ITS TROOPS… OH JOYOUS MOTHER-FRICKER-…!" Lissa chucks a hand-axe at one of them, "DAY!" She concluded.
"M'rrruuuuugghh…" Robin's head falls back, "Come on, duuuude, really?" Chrom smiles at her and shakes his head, "Now, now, no groaning, you were the one who asked to come along." He rested his hands on her shoulders.
"You probably would've been BEGGING for me to come back even if Lissa hadn't told me!" Robin growled at him and ran ahead. "CHROM!" Lon'qu stabbed a Valmese Warrior that Chrom was completely oblivious to.
"Oh JEEZ!" Chrom fell back. "Focus!" Lon'qu kicked the Warrior off of his sword, "Seeeeriously, you're even more distracted than you were back then!" Nowi quickly used a ward on him, as a Fireball struck him in the back, but because of the Ward, Chrom didn't budge an inch.
"Heee-YAH!" Frederick let loose a short-spear, but it nearly struck Robin, "WHOA, GODS!" She fell back.
"Minerva!" Cherche called to her Wyvern, as she sprung herself off of her back, launched high into the air, and came down with her axe and smashed another Valmese Swordsmaster next to Robin.
"WHOA! Bad-to-the-ARSE!" Robin got up, gave a thumbs up, and shot a pillar of light of her Thoron tome, and cleared out a clean row of Valm troops, "STRRRRIKE, OUT!"
"With grace, milady!" Virion shot an arrow from Sully's horse, "Panne!" Sully called out to her Wyvern Rider companion, "Dead ahead!" She drew her sword, "Understood! VeOcatagon!" Panne called to her Wyvern, pulled the reigns back, signaling him to slow down, so she could double throw two hand-axes at two Valm sages, which would have been bad for Sully.
"HIY!" Sully smacked an archer, while Sumia stabbed the one soldier next to him, while Gaius quickly sat up right behind Sumia and aimed his arrow back while taking out a Valm Falcon-Knight.
"We're almost at the ship!" Robin signaled to them, and ran ahead recklessly.
Way off in the distance…
A giant ball of electricity formed by 2 sages, and 3 Valkyrie. That electricity ball was dead aimed on Robin, but Robin wasn't dumb, just before she was caught in the electric ball's line of sight, she did a quick twirl, and suddenly Ricken and Cordelia both popped up from nowhere with their steeds, and shot two giant gusts of wind with Robin, knocking the ball back, and striking the 5 magic users responsible.
"HAHA! YES! SCORE!" Robin jumped for joy, but as always thanks to Ricken's short term-memory, "What? Wha'd we score?!"
"HAH!" Cordelia shot another Javelin and NEARLY missed Robin's head, striking another soldier, "Man, so many close calls!"
"Better stop slacking then!" Chrom playfully stuck his tongue to his wife, and ran for the ship, and Robin quickly ran beside him towards the ship.
… Well… Robin WAS the one who was pregnant of the two… OKAY, okay! I'll be quiet now! *Plays Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds*
"Chrom! Robin!" Libra yelled, hoping they'd stop, "HERE!" He raised a Psychic staff, healing them both, "Thanks, Libra! You're the man!" Robin yelled before turning around and continued running with Chrom.
As soon as they boarded the ship, and met with the Paladin commander of this Valm guild, a spear nearly pierced Robin's foot, "Not yet!" She swung around it, kicked off the ground, pulling the lance with her, and quickly passed it to Chrom.
"Heee-YAH!" He chucked it as hard as he could, but the Paladin quickly dodged it, and slashed Robin's arm, "G'ah!" She jerked back, and readied her Thoron tome, but it quickly shot out the last of its strength, thus breaking, and crumbling over, "NICE!" She sarcastically yelled, "Oof!" She was knocked down by the Paladin, and slashed a light gash on her leg.
"ROBIN!" Chrom lunged forward, stabbing the Paladin through the chest; Robin could stand, but just barely, as she drew her Killing Edge, and slashed up-ward, finishing him off.
"Jeez, that was WAY too close for comfort!" Robin sighed as she quickly scanned the gash on her leg, "I told you, you should have stayed at the castle!" Chrom quickly approached her.
"Hey! I'm not the only one who needs a little brushing up!" She glared at Chrom, "What?" He blushed furiously, "Are you saying I-" He lifted her on a piggyback, "Hey, not just you." She lightly hugged his neck, "We're all just a SPECK off, if not, less. But hey! We're all still the same, I mean come on, when you haven't exactly trained for two years, and nine of those months within those two years you were pregnant, then weeeelll… The battle could have been worse… WAY worse." She smiled.
"True… I'm still new to the lance a little bit." Chrom sighed as he began walking off of the ship. "But still, you're better with magic, next time remind me to NOT let you take a sword to battle." He chuckled.
Seconds later a moist presence invaded his ear, "AGH! Not the Wet Willy! Come on!" He shook his head violently to shake off the effect, "What was that about my swordplay?" She hugged him a little tighter, "I-I mean… Uhh… O-Oh! Look! There's Lissa! Let's get that leg of yours mended!" He smiled.
"Oh, well isn't THIS LOVELY!?" Basilio shouted, and Lon'qu winced at how loud his voice was. "What?" Chrom asked, roughly adjusting the injured Robin on his back, "Ow! Ow! Watch it!" Robin cringed at the sudden pain in her leg, "Oop! Sorry!" He faced back, "Totally cool…!" She held in the pain by biting her sleeve.
"The town's in shambles! A.K.A. MY army!" Basilio huffed. "Yikes! And Feroxi soldiers are the finest east of the long sea! ….. Welp, we're dead." Stahl lazily lifted his arms up in the air, shrugging to the already-known-defeat.
"Worst part: That's not the half of it, just a taste of what is yet to come." Flavia chimed in.
"Stahl, I think the word you meant to say was 'Butchered'." Gaius's vision glided over to Stahl.
"Once they arrive, they could dominate the continent within weeks… There's no way we could hold them off… It'd be massacre…" Lon'qu said as he looked down. "Well… Ylisse is no better equipped to handle an attack on sea…" Chrom intervened.
"Any ideas, Robin?" His head turned to meet eyes with her. "Umm…" Robin thought for a moment, and gently adjusted herself on Chrom's back, "Catch 'em at sea? We've a disadvantage on land, but if we caught them at sea…"
"How would we do that? Ylisse doesn't have any warships, nor does Ferox!" Chrom responded sternly. This surprised Robin, "But you just said…! AGH, why even bring it up?!" Robin just dropped her face on Chrom's shoulder.
"Okay, so…. We need a kingdom that does have warships…" Basilio's head leaned to the right.
Robin quickly snapped her fingers, "PLEGIA!" "Ow!" Chrom winced, "Break my eardrum why don't ya?"
"Sorry." Robin quickly smiled, "And PLEGIA? Hell no!" Chrom looked back at Flavia and Basilio. "Snap out of it, ya jackhole!" Lissa grabbed his collar. "They have WARSHIPS, and if we don't get the help we need, we are GONNA DIE!" Lissa's vicious glare burned deep in Chrom's eyes.
"The girl's right…" Flavia hoisted her sword over her shoulder. "Please reconsider?" Robin gave him his best puppy eyes.
"… Okay, first. Those puppy eyes are actually pretty creepy, and second, fiiiiine… But if their new king is a D-Bag, I'm leaving!"
At Plegia Castle
"How'd we get here so fast?" Sumia looked to Cordelia and Miriel.
You have my power of Jump-Cutting to thank for that!
"'Jump-Cutting'? … Fascinating… I must research of this concept at once!" Miriel's eyes lit up.
Sorry, that info's off limits…
"… Disappointing…" Miriel glared.
… What? Stop looking at me like that! … What? What's with the heated glare?!
Miriel continued glaring at the author.
…. Okay, fine! I'll tell you! … But after this chapter okay?
"Hey, authoress…" Cordelia spoke up.
What do you need, Cordelia?
"Would you mind giving me a new set of dull Javelins?… I'm almost out…"
… They're… Not for hurting Robin are they?
"…. Nooooo…" Cordelia's vision glided off to the side.
… Eh, works for me! Help yourself! *Gives Cordelia a new set of Javelins*
"Perfect!" Cordelia held the new set in her hands, "C-Cordelia…?" A bead of sweat slid down Sumia's head as she watched her friend walk off.
…. I… Think I just murdered Robin… Oh well… You wanna learn how I make these jump-cuts happen with Miriel?
"… Well, seeing as how I've got nothing better to do." Sumia looked at the author.
INSIDE PLEGIA CASTLE
"Ah! Here is milord now." Aversa coughed and hacked. While she was gathering herself, a familiar figure approached the three: Chrom, Robin, and Frederick.
All three of them looked at the new king, "You must be King Validar." Chrom took a small bow. "And you must be the Exalt of Ylisse, Chrom." Validar took a small bow in return.
For a second, Chrom took a good look at his face, he couldn't help but feel as if, "GODS! It can't be!" He shouted in an out-of-character tone.
"(Psst! Robin!)" Chrom whispered. "(I know! He looks just like the asshole that tried to assassinate Emmeryn!)" Robin whispered back.
"(Hey! I want to be in on this conversation!)" Frederick cut in, "(BUTT OUT, FREDERICK!)" The couple shouted in unison.
"(How did this happen?!)" Chrom whispered, "(You're asking me?!)" Robin whispered back. "My, the negotiations haven't even begun, and already so much whispering!" King Validar shook his head.
"Our apologies, milord." Frederick grabbed both Robin and Chrom's shoulders to get their attention, "Ah, right. Anyway… Back to business."
Aversa smiled and pulled out a small piece of paper from between her breasts, "Plegia can offer no soldiers, but can provide 800 warships, and 200 transports. We'd also like to fully fund the campaign against Valm." She stuffed the paper back in her chest.
"You offer us most of your assets?" Chrom looked at Validar surprised, "Mmm, I would offer troops, but since our last war…" Validar trailed off, but picked up with, "Also… I haven't been having some… problems, family issues specifically."
"I won't ask of which you don't wish to reveal." Chrom responded. "Well, we thank you for your help, but we must be getting back to Port Ferox now."
"Oh, so soon? I've still one more introduction to make!" Aversa chimed in with a mischievous gaze. "Hm?" Robin turned, "Who?"
"An hierophant of house Plegia."
Out of the shadows stepped in a hooded figure, the jacket looked strikingly similar to Robin's old tactician hood, and all that anyone could make out of her face was her lips.
"The heart still sleeps, but the blood still flows, and the blood is strong." The hooded figure looked at Robin, yet without actually showing her eyes. Robin's eyes went a little wide, "Pardon, were you talking to me?" She responded.
"Excuse me, but I would advise you to remove your cloak, you are in the presence of House Ylisse." Frederick scowled.
"… You are a long way from Ylisse, you idiot…" The hierophant responded, "But very well…" She slowly removed her cloak.
"HOLY F*CK!" Frederick shouted.
"WHAT IN THE HELL…?!" Chrom jerked in surprise.
"D'AAAGHH!" Robin nearly jumped out of her skin.
"There… Is that better? Oh, how rude of me, I forgot to mention: My name is Robin… Oh, and let me guess, that's your name too, isn't it?" A woman, who looked strikingly similar to Robin, her snow white hair… Her brown eyes… Her small nose… Everything.
"I think I'm about to pass out…" Robin clutched her stomach. "Validaaaar!" Chrom shouted angrily, "What is the meaning of this?! Why do Robin and your-"
"WEEELL, look at the time, I must be going! Have fun with the conquest, ta-ta!" Validar waved good-bye and walked off.
OUTSIDE AND A LITTLE WAYS AHEAD FROM PLEGIA CASTLE, THE SHEPHERDS STOPPED FOR THE EVENING.
Robin was wide awake while sleeping next to Chrom, who had his arm wrapped around her and was fast asleep. She peered up at her husband, envious of how he was in a deep sleep, and she was right next to him, adrenaline in her veins.
She sat up, got out of her sleeping bag, and covered Chrom with the messed up sheets, she didn't exactly get in her usual clothing, just her typical jacket and some slippers.
She didn't stray too far, just a small stroll around camp, until her legs told her to stop, "… It's no use. I can't sleep…" She quickly rubbed her eye. "Who was the hierophant…? How could she bare my same face?" Thoughts and questions piled on and on in Robin's head. It was one thing to not have any memories, but now she has a potential twin that for some reason is in PLEGIA?
… Heed me, Robin…
"Huh?" Robin reacted to the voice.
Heed my call, Robin…
"W-Who's there?" Robin started looking around wildly to pin-point where the voice is coming from.
Why do you close your heart to him?
A sharp pain rung through Robin's head, and suddenly Validar appeared right in front of Robin in a hazy vision, "V-Validar?" She looked up a little.
"Give yourself to Grima, Robin…" Validar chanted, "W… Who are you? G-Get out of my head!" She fell to her knees.
"Such arrogance… You take such a tone… With your own father?" Validar smirked at the pale girl.
"WHAT?" Her vision shot up right and faced the old coot of a man.
"Why the hell haven't you come back with the groceries, Robin? Why are you here fighting alongside these doomed servants of Naga? Your rightful place should be right here by my side." Validar approached her and tilted her chin up.
The part where Validar said, 'Come back with groceries' really stuck out to Robin.
"Get your arse down here before I come up there and-""I am COMING FATHER!"
Oh… Right… Grocery Shopping…
There are no cakes in Plegia? What is he, senile? Oh… Right…
"Robin!" A familiar voice called to Robin's relief, "Pah! … Not this one again… No matter, in time you will see, Robin…" And with that, Validar vanished, and the pain in Robin's head vanished.
"Robin! Are you all right? I heard shouting!" Chrom grabbed her shoulders, to make sure she doesn't lose balance. "What the frick? Chrom weren't you sleeping like a baby when we were in the tent?"
"Why did you leave in the first place?" Chrom looked at her.
"Look, no matter, I'm fine… Let's just… Let's just go back to bed…" She leaned on him. "'Fine' is a poor choice of words! Tell me, what's happened?" He helped her stand.
"Well, seeing as how you're not gonna let this go… Just now… King Validar appeared before me, and spoke to me… He said I was his… His daughter." Robin stood up right.
"What?! Is this true?" Chrom looked at her, and Robin gave him a stupidly obvious look, "How am I supposed to know?! But I also don't know if it's a lie."
"Oh Gods… That hierophant doppelganger… Could she be his daughter as well? Are you twins?" He asked her again, "Again, Chrom. How am I supposed to know?!" She shot him a stupid glare.
"So let me get this straight… Basically what you're saying is, that King Validar is potentially your biological father, which would make ME his son in law, but does that mean you were… Plegian royalty before we met?!" Chrom's eyes widened at the possibility.
"Heck, I don't know! I honestly don't know if I want to know the truth of my past anymore… Holy crap." Robin clutched her head, "Even if I am his daughter, I'd… much rather stay with you, and Lissa, and… Our little Lucina." Robin hugged him, and Chrom hugged tightly in return, protecting her.
"Hey, hey, don't worry. Remember, you're yourself before you're any man's daughter… Remember that." He looked at her and smiled.
"AHA! CAUGHT IN THE ACT!" Frederick scrambled out of the bushes, and face-planted on the dirt, "Frederick?!" Chrom looked at him like he was Risen, "I KNEW IT! I KNEW YOU WERE WITH PLEGIA!" He pointed a finger at Robin.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Robin put her hands in front of her in defense, "I don't even know if any of this is true, so shut your mouth!" She argued. "And how can I be a spy… If I haven't done ANYTHING to hurt anyone in the last two years, and the mother of a baby girl back at the palace?! EXPLAIN THAT!"
"Whatever! I'll grill you later! For now, WE'VE RISEN ENCIRCLING OUR CAMP!" Frederick shouted. "Oh, what the fudge?! Didn't we…?! OH COME ON!" Chrom facepalmed.
Chrom, Robin, and Frederick ran towards the action, and quickly got in their gear, and grabbed their weapons, when they joined their team in fray, Robin started calling out strategies, "Fan out! Mounted units, up those slopes, and fliers out of the archer's ways! Chrom! Let's- Huh? CROWS?"
Before getting into the intended strategy, there was a flock of crows that surrounded the team, "What in blazes?!" Chrom shouted. "CROWS! CROWS EVERYWHERE!" Lissa shouted.
"Nya ha ha! Are you guys lost? Or are you perhaps a lost CAWs?" Suddenly a dark mage, with snow white hair, much like Robin's, and his shut eyes filled with glee, as he cackled into the night.
"Who the hell…!?" Chrom took a quick, yet careful look at the strange dark mage. "Name's Henry! And I wanna join your CAWs! I may not look it, but I have a knack for killing! Most funny people do anyway!" Henry cackled.
"Oh by the way, the crows wanted me to send you a message! "Caw-C-Caw" Roughly translated, that means… Uhh... What was the T-word? Traipse? Tumar? Testosterone? Turmoil?" Suddenly the lightbulb in his head went off, "TRAPPED! Right! The crows say you're trapped!"
"We know, idiot!" Chrom facepalmed, "All right, you're in! Just stay out of danger, and wait for me to give you orders, okay?! Okay!"
"Hey, hey, no need to get your small clothes in a twi-" The Valmese Wyvern Rider met contact with Henry, "C-CHERCHE! Cherche! Cherche, it's me, Henry! Minerva! Papa Henry's here!" He ran towards the delicate Wyvern Rider.
"H-Henry! Darling! There you are!" She flew off to Henry, and swept him up, and lifted him to sit on Minerva's back, "Where were you?!" She looked at him, "I'll explain after this! For now, let's kill some baddies! Nya ha ha!" He cackled.
"…. I'll never understand the SCIENCE… of what happened just now…?" Chrom watched as his new companion just suddenly ran for Cherche.
"Let's go, Daydreamer!" Robin grabbed his wrist, and ran for the commander who was at the top of a bridge, "Who's a slow-poke now?!" Robin stuck her tongue at him as she ran up the slope.
"Olivia!" Lon'qu shouted as he kicked the Risen chief towards the dancer, "Right!" She delicately jumped backward, flung him with her sword, suddenly Cordelia rode in, smacked him down with her lance, and finally Frederick caught him with the throwing adrenaline of the toss from his Short Spear.
"Remarkable!" Cordelia rode in, and stopped by Frederick.
"Whoa! You guys made a kick-arse quadral-kill!" Chrom stepped in and praised his troops, "CHROM!" Robin shouted, suddenly a Risen assassin appeared between Robin and Chrom, "Huh? G'AH!" He pivoted back.
"Father! No!" A familiar voice called up, suddenly… Marth ran in?!
Marth ran in, and guarded Chrom from the sudden attack. Wincing at his failed attempt, the Assassin disappeared into the night, escaping.
"Thank the gods you're safe!" Marth smiled, "Whoa, whoa, whoa! Did… Did you just call me… Father?" Chrom nearly jumped out of his skin.
"… Did I…? Aw, crap… Uh… Perhaps we… We might speak privately?" She kicked the imaginary dirt. "… Perhaps we should, yes."
OFF IN THE DISTANCE
"Look… I already know you're not Marth… Though I've nothing better to call you. I won't ask of which you don't want to reveal… After all, Ylisse owes you a debt." He told her and smiled slightly.
"No, no… I… think it'd be best if you knew the truth." Marth looked at him, "As you wish." He automatically responded.
"Here… Look into my eyes, and all will be made clear." Lucina slowly approached Chrom, and turned to meet eyes with him. Doing as she asked, Chrom looked at her eyes, and what he saw in her left eye, "… That's the… Brand of the Exalt."
Suddenly it all made sense, and his eyes widened, "Lucina…" Then his vision glided to her sword… The very same sword he bears now, Falchion, "You deserved better from me than one sword and a world of troubles… I'm sorry."
Lucina couldn't hold it back anymore, two salty streams slid down her face. As soon as he saw those tears, he took the initiative and wiped them from her face. The contact surprised Lucina, her eyes shot open, and that was her breaking point, "Oh, Father!" She quickly fell into her father's arms; Chrom quickly accepted her hug, giving her a shoulder to lean on.
Once the hug finished, "Better, Lucina?" Chrom tilted his head a little to catch her face looking down, "Yes… I'm sorry, it just… It just all rushed back at once."
"Wow… I'm… I'm a father." Chrom smiled at the concept, "Should I… call you something else?" Lucina looked at him, afraid of his uncertain tone.
"No, no, it's just… a little strange to my ear… I like it." Chrom smiled, "Father! Hehe!" Lucina smiled happily.
"Well, this'll take some getting used to." He scratched the back of his head.
"Uhhh… Chrom?" Robin approached the two blue-heads, "Oh, Robin. Did you need something?" Chrom looked at his wife and smiled, "Weeeell, it's not every day you find… something like THIS, play out before you, ya know?" Robin scratched the back of her head.
Robin sighed, "Chrom, I trust you, but is there a reason you and Marth need to be alone?" She somewhat glared, Chrom felt a little on edge, he didn't want Robin to think… Oh god, that's just GROSS! "Should we tell her, Lucina?"
"Of course." Lucina turned to Robin, "Hold on now, WHAT?" Robin's eyes widened a little, "Robin, this is going to come as a shock, but screw it: This is our daughter." Chrom put his hands on her shoulders.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! I know the expression, "They grow up so fast" But not THAT fast!" Robin held her head, and Lucina laughed a little, "Mother's still got it."
"I know you're confused, but here, prove it with your eyes, by looking into mine." Robin slowly approached Lucina, and noticed.
"Ah! You have the Brand!" Robin's hands clasped over her chest. "The very same that all of House Ylisse carries." Chrom added.
"Wait, so if you're here… Then, what's happened to our baby back at the Palace?" Robin's head was spinning. "Your baby is right where you left her, and perfectly safe. I am her from a different time, a time that has yet to be… After history takes a dark and more destructive turn."
"But why? What happens in the future?" Robin asked, "The fell dragon, Grima, is resurrected. His roar is a death knell for men, a scream that silences all hope. Death everywhere…" Lucina looked down, trembling at the scary memories.
"Me? Chrom? Lissa? All of us? Dead?" Robin asked, shaking. "Naga knew that one day, Grima would come back to reign destruction upon man. So in preparation for that day, she devised a ritual: To allow one to return to the past and altar events already written… I made the journey with others, but some of us got separated…"
"As far-fetched, and insane it sounds, I believe her. She has Falchion, my same sword, and the same sword that the first Exalt used to slay Grima long ago."
"Wait, wait, wait… So when I said that Marth looked dreamy, I was talking about my… Oh gods, back in a minute!" Lissa ran for a bush.
Now that Chrom thought about it… He got jealous of his own daughter?
Chapter 4 reference for those who missed it.
"Hmm… My daughter…" Robin's vision glided down without titling her head, "Yes, Robin, your daughter." Lucina responded, "You turned out to be such a beautiful and strong woman, Lucina." She laced her fingers together displaying her proudness.
"Thank you…" Lucina hesitated, "… Milady." Robin's eyes opened to the sudden nickname, "Will you not call me Mother?" She approached her. "I… thought you might mind." She looked down.
"Of course not!" Robin smiled, "I love you so much Lucina!" Robin hugged her, Lucina felt her embrace, and didn't hesitate to return it, "Oh, mother… I've missed you more than you'll ever know." She whimpered.
AFTER ALL THAT MELO-DRAMA.
"When I said some of us were separated… We had a group of thirteen, myself included. But one friend of ours isn't from the future, but I know he's with the others… However, the ones who made it back with me…" Lucina turned and saw Elincia, Lute, and Roy show up.
"Meet Cynthia." She introduced the orange haired Pegausus Knight. "Laurent." Introduced the blond mage. "And Nah." She introduced the Manakete.
