Chapter 10: Another Power
Yugi's POV
Yugi exhaled in shock when the darkness bounced off a barrier.
"Just because there is a barrier," Shadow said, coming over and standing in front of Yugi, but unable to cross the barrier, "doesn't mean that you are safe. You could most likely make it out of here by running to that door over there without getting caught," Shadow motioned to the door that Malik and Atem had entered through earlier, "but what about your friends? I've got them bound and chained, going through horrors of their own. Can you face your fears, or are you going to run off now that you've finally gotten what you've always wanted, leaving your friends behind?"
"I'm not going to leave them behind!" Yugi shouted, but he could feel his fears pushing at him.
"Then what are you going to do?" Shadow sneered. "You and your pharaoh are afraid and you can't rescue your friends while your afraid."
"Yugi," Yugi looked to his left to see a girl standing there. She was slightly transparent, she had dark brown hair, blue eyes, and was wearing silver Egyptian robes. "Can you hear me?"
"Yes." Yugi said confused. "Who are you?"
"I am Nya," she replied, the daughter of Anubis."
"Yugi?" Yugi turned to look back at Yami and saw that Yami was watching him in concern. "Who are you talking to?" That was when Yugi could hear Shadow laughing.
"He's gone crazy and I didn't even do anything yet!" Shadow howled with laughter. "He's talking to himself!"
"You're the only one who can see me Yugi, Nya said while watching Shadow laugh, "because I'm in your mind. I've been here for a very long time, throughout all your past lives, but this is the first time that you've heard me."
"What have you been doing in my head and what have you been trying to tell me?" Yugi asked, not understanding.
"Something my father knows not." Nya turned and looked directly at Yugi. "You have another power Yugi. Not only do you have the power of Sight you got from the pharaoh, but you also have your own power to heal. And I am in your mind because you granted me access a long time ago"
"Heal?" Yugi repeated questioningly, feeling that was the most important at this time. "I don't understand, what am I supposed to heal?"
"Your fear Yugi." Nya told him. "What is your fear?" Yugi stared at Nya not comprehending, but then his eyes shown gold when he suddenly remember who Nya was to him and realized what the answer was. "I must go now," Nya said, beginning to fade, "but I will still be here with you. After all, you and I made a promise in your first life. Tell father that I said hi when you see him ok?" Yugi nodded and Nya gently kissed him on the cheek. "Goodbye my brother." Then Nya faded away, but Yugi could still feel her consciousness in his mind.
Yugi stood up and walked to the edge of the barrier, then lifted his right hand and touched it.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Shadow asked warily and backed away from the barrier and back to the wall where the others were chained.
"Yugi what are you doing?" Yami asked from behind.
"I'm going to put the barrier down." Yugi said calmly.
"What?! Why?" Yami asked, while Shadow watched Yugi in joy and disbelief.
"Because I don't need it." Yugi replied, staring at Shadow. "I never actually did." Yugi pushed his hand through the barrier, causing it to break down and dissolve.
"You fool!" Shadow laughed. "Now you have no chance of getting away, because my darkness will tear you to pieces. I'm going to-" Shadow stopped talking when he saw a gold light destroying the threads of darkness. "What's going on? What are you doing?!"
Yugi had grabbed one of the threads, a gold light shooting from his hand, and now the light was quickly traveling down the thread, healing the darkness and turning it to light, and it was heading straight towards Shadow. The moment the light touched him it grew brighter and spread towards the rest of the threads, turning them into light as well. When the chains around Yugi's friends turned gold they were released from the wall.
Normal POV
Ryou was the last to wake up and what he saw was unbelievable, Yugi was standing in front of Shadow who was wrapped in threads of light and Atem was behind him.
"What's going on?" Ryou asked as Bakura was helping him up.
"Yugi had another power." Atem replied, turning to them.
"What kind of power?" Malik asked, while leaning into Marik's side.
"The power to heal and fight off fear." Atem replied, looking back at Shadow.
"It doesn't matter!" Shadow snarled at them all. "You can't defeat fear, it's impossible! Even with your power Host, you can't destroy fear!"
"I'm not going to destroy you." Yugi told him calmly now that he remembered everything from his first life. "I'm not even going to try to get rid of you, because you're staying here."
"WHAT?!" Everyone, including Shadow, shouted, wondering if Yugi really had lost his mind.
