1976 Germany
The night air was cool on my bare skin as I led him up the stairwell and to the awaiting bedroom. Erik had left a little while ago to get to the right room while I got the hook, line and sinker in. The small and clinging dress left me with limited places to hide weapons but it seemed like minimal risk of having to use them, the man we had our eye on was a king pin of this organization and a human one. He fit the mould to a tee, an impressive military commander in the day but with time and a promotion he gained weight, taken up on his smoking and drinking and of course had a liking for pretty young things which were far above him. It made my skin crawl on the inside with his hand guiding along my lower back and slipping down lower. I let my hand stray to my wedding ring which was conveniently located on a thing piece of rope around my neck. I knew I wasn't betraying Erik but I hated it any way he a passionate and jealous man, but when we were on assignment the ring slipped from my finger. I knew he didn't like the looks I got from the younger men when we did this sort of thing.
I put a ditzy smile on my face as we reached the door to his hotel room, I'd been playing the little lady who'd had a little too much for the night. He rummaged through his pockets for the key, while I just sway a little; he seemed a little concerned that I'd sober up before this was over it, how little he knew about who was really going to get used by the end of tonight. He took hold of my hand as he led me through the open door. I closed it behind me before I pushed him forward; the chair was waiting where it should be. In a second the arms had contorted to secure his wrists while my I took hold of the muscles in his lips making sure they were shut. Erik stepped out of the shadows, his hair being turned into a blondie-red with green eyes to accompany. He drew the line at make-up but the contacts and hair seemed to do well enough so long as he wasn't on camera. I let a hand ruffle through my blonde curls. My voice slipped into a Russian accent, lighter and feminie than my own voice. "Now Major General Larrison, there is no need to call out, not that it would matter." I loosened the grip on his lip and he let out a breath of air. "You try and get your friends up here and I can assure you that the pain you felt when you were taken by the Koreans for interrogation will have nothing on the pain you'll experience. I learnt at the hands of the most experienced enforcers at a Russian Gulag, trust me I know how to violate the human body before it will die."
I could feel him start to call, before a sound left his lips my fist flew and I connected with his face. It was a technique we had learnt to perfect since we'd begun this little dance after we'd left Greece. I left him with an over the shoulder comment to Erik of "Call Brezhnev."
It wasn't too hard to find the small building that was dedicated to the torment of mutants. It was simple we'd find any targets the Americans had identify and any projects that we felt could be tampered with and that would send us off on our next grand adventure. In the course of less than a year we'd set off around most of the globe it was interesting to see that humanities hate for each other was trumped so easily by their hate of us. Men and women alike, all skin types and age, they all hated us with a religious passion.
It was a simple job nothing too hard. Erik had a great aptitude for this sort of work, quickly picking up the tricks of the trade. We rummaged through the laboratories and offices; I was making my way through their supplies when I heard a scuttling in the corner of the room. I stared dead ahead keeping my muscles not visibly tense as I waited, I gathered my stuff as though I was about to leave before pouncing over the desk before tackling them to the ground. I could feel that whoever was under me was only small but I refused to let up. I'd been underestimated enough times because of my size not to make the same mistake so easily. As I pinned the small frame with astonishing ease my grip tightened I refused to be fooled by someone playing the easy catch. I stared down to find a frightened little girl starring up at me her brown eyes piercing as she shook under me. Taking the time to assess her small frame I could see that she wouldn't have been any older than ten, her pale arms were covered in scars, my heart jumped as I saw myself young, broken and terrified. I let her go and bundled her into my arms. "Shush beautiful I won't hurt you." I cooed in her ear, trying to make the German language sound as unthreatening as I could as I let my hand stroke her dark blonde hair.
I could feel the tears as they slide down my collar. Pulling away so I could look at her properly I ran my finger along her cheek. "Don't cry mon cher, what's your name?" She refused to speak to me but she didn't try to run or fight. Slowly I pried my hands away from her and brought the nails to my arm. "I'm like you there's no need to fear." I tried to sooth her as I dragged them deep into my skin; I barely reacted to the pain while the little girl leapt back in horror, letting out a little shriek. As I removed my fingers I wiped the blood on my jacket. It stunned her for a second before out of morbid curiosity like everyone else had expressed throughout my life she went to touched the healed flesh. Her fingers were so close to my skin when I heard the door burst open.
The metal flung at us so fast I barely had time to shield her with my body before I felt it cut into my skin. "Erik! Stop she's just a little girl." I could hear the quiet sobbing behind me. I slowly got off the floor the marks on my face already starting to heal as I approached Erik. My hands took his, "I know you didn't mean it." I said softly switching to English as I brought his knuckles to my cheek, "We have to take her with us." Erik nodded as I knelt back down to the little girl offering my hand. It took a couple of minutes before I could convince her to come with me. When she was off the floor she cuddled into my side staying as far away from Erik as she could. I sat in the back seat gently singing to her as Erik drove my hands ghosting over her skin making the scars disappear. We made it back to our current base of operations the whole time Erik was quiet and stoic until I got her to sleep in our bed.
As I entered the living room he let out a sigh. "What are we going to do with her?"
I poured us a couple of drinks before sitting down. "I don't know send her back to her family, keep her safe." I looked up at him "That's what we're doing right?"
Erik took a cautionary sip. "We both know how this story goes, there is no happy ending who's to say there is a family to give her back to, we lived this."
I shook my head. "Erik just because nobody came and saved us doesn't mean we can't do it for her, she speaks German that means she's from the country maybe even around the corner, we owe it to her to try. If we can't take her home at least somewhere safe." I got up and held his free hand.
His fingers tightened around mine, taking one last swig, he shook his head and rose. "There is nowhere safe for us. You and I have traipsed the globe from one corner to the next and everywhere we go they hound us, the chase us and they kill us. We'll never be safe until we carve our place in this world." Erik went to walk away from me, but I pulled him back.
I placed our intertwined fingers on my stomach. "What about when there's something growing in here is there anywhere safe. You want an army, you want to send us in while we only make up a fraction of fraction of their numbers and most of our species is children. Are you ready to pack that little girl off as a weapon?"
Erik looked down at my stomach. "I will never let them hurt mine or my own again."
Tossing his hand aside, I moved away. "That's not the point Erik; there is nothing to worry about yet. On the beach you spoke to your brothers and sisters they need our protection what is the point of stopping them if we are just going to destroy our own in the process, we have to protect our own." I looked deep into his eyes.
"We can't save them all."
I shook my head, "No because we've already lost some but I have forever and ever to help them." I let the last part fade off into a whisper; we knew it was an eventuality that I would continue on without Erik.
His arms were warm as they encircled me. "So where do you suppose we sleep?" A smile crept onto my lips as I gently swayed with him.
The next morning I awoke on the couch, Erik's arms around my waist and a set of brown eyes staring at me. I let a kind smile cross my face as I slowly unfolded myself from Erik, sitting on the edge gently. "What's your name?" She scooted away from me slightly. "I'm Vivienne."
"Adele" Came a small squeak she opened her mouth so little it was like ventriloquy.
"Where's your family Adele?"
"182 Linie Straße."
"Would you go back if you could?" Adele just nodded her head. I made pancakes for the little girl as I quizzed her about her life. Erik found us as the kitchen table a knowing smile on his face, Adele was teaching me a clapping game her and her friends played, I found that she was only seven and hadn't been home in three months. She showed me her mutation she could show you anything she had seen with her own eyes through touch, it was sad that I couldn't just enjoy the whimsy it brought because I knew they'd want her as a spy. The journey of taking her home wasn't hard it was only a few hours outside of Berlin we left the family with their daughter, a few good places to hide out and no exchange of names.
I sat on the countertop my legs dangling over the sides my feet not reaching the tiles as I thought, she'd been so young and beautiful and they'd wanted to hurt her. I was still siting like that when Erik found me. He trapped me between the counter and his body with ease as I held onto him my arms wrapped around his neck as his lips found my collar bone. We didn't speak for a minute or so as Erik just held me. His hands moved to my hips thumbs running small circles over the bone slightly jutting out. "Did today make you reconsider things?" He asked into my shoulder.
I nodded coming to rest my chin on his shoulder. "How could it not?"
Erik pulled himself up to look at me his elbows resting on the countertop. "Because you knew this, you spoke of it and you experienced it." His stare was uncompromising as he looked me in the eye.
I nodded moving myself forward toward him so that my hips rested against his stomach and my breasts touched his chest. One hand snaked up to stroke through his hair. I exhaled and smirked a bit. "Because I was naïve enough my love to believe that what happened to us was the product of war and the fact that we were special." Before he could respond I swooped down to kiss Erik, my hands securing him to me as I pushed us closer together and let my tongue do the talking for me. I wasn't sure if it was conscious or not but I sent a wave of pleasure through his body twinging the muscles as though building to orgasm.
Erik's hands his hit the counter with force as he pulled us apart but coming to rest his head on my shoulder. "You can't fuck your way out of this; it might even be detrimental to your point." He breathed hard. "You still want one you're just afraid." He said coming to look me in the eye again.
I kissed his forehead. "You know me so well, love" My hand going to stroke his hair again.
Erik's hands came to hold my hips again. "Don't worry you'll be fine. I saw you with that little girl, you loved her and were willing to die for her imagine what you would do for one of our own." He took in a breath before kissing me on the lips. "There's no point in saving our species if we don't continue it." With that he pulled me off the counter so that I was in his arms.
I smiled as he began to carry me to our room. "And what are you doing?" I said playfully.
Erik ducked his head to kiss the top of my tits. Only coming up long enough to say "The responsible thing and continuing out species," before swooping back down.
I shook my head. "You know if we do have a little one you'll have to share these."
Erik's lips met mine. "For my son or daughter it would be a pleasure." He closed the door behind us.
