Good news- This is officially the 10th chapter! YAY! Thank you to all of you lovely readers! But I'm am a little upset with the huge lack of reviews! I know you people are reading then story! But I'll let it slide, as long as you enjoy the next chapter!
It was the last week of school before final exams and the teachers of Ouran Academy were handing out marked assignments and past tests. Kyoya sat, book in hand as his eyes quickly fluttered across the page. Tamaki was facing his best friend chattering away aimlessly as the teacher went up and down the rows.
"Well done Souh," the teacher said passing Tamaki's marked assignment to him. Tamaki grinned at the paper and said thank you in return. The teacher then turned to Kyoya and passed him a marked assignment as well.
Kyoya took a second to look at it then set it down on the desk to return to his book. In a flash of realization the boy whipped his head back down to the paper and tried to process the information.
Hold on this can't be right…
Kyoya picked up the assignment once more and flipped through it pages looking carefully at the red pen marks. He flipped back to the first page and tried to work out his percentage…
That comes out to an 86%...
And the shadow king felt anger swell up in him. His blood began to boil as he thought things over. This wasn't possible; he worked too hard on this assignment. It was supposed to be perfect. And now this assignment had destroyed everything, all his hard work and all his other perfect test and assignments which now meant close to nothing because this one dreadful assignment that dragged his average down to the gutters.
"Kyoya…" the blond boy whispered softly as he watched Kyoya clenched the assignment between his fists. Slowly letting go of the crumbled paper, Kyoya dropped his head down on his desk and exhaled bitterly. Tamaki picked up the assignment and smoothed it to see the mark. At this point most of the class had gathered around to see what had happened to their beloved class rep.
"Kyoya mon ami," Tamaki said slowly, "You did well, don't be upset."
"Oh Kyoya, it's fine you work yourself too hard," another student chimed in. Others followed, trying to cheer up the sad little boy. Telling him to be proud of himself and that he will probably do better in the future.
And the shadow king raised his head slightly and hissed something under his breath.
"I'm sorry Kyoya I couldn't catch that," Tamaki said moving closer to hear what his best friend had said.
"Enough," the dark haired boy yelled as he slammed his fists on the desk, "I said that's enough!" The students flinched at Kyoya's booming voice.
"Kyoya, it's going to be alright," The French boy said comfortingly.
"No it's not okay! It's never okay! But you wouldn't understand! None of you understand! So do me a favour and just shut up! All of you!" Kyoya hissed darkly. He couldn't hold it back anymore everyone just had it way too easy. They all expected perfection from him all the time and now they're trying to tell him it's okay to do badly.
Hypocrites, all of them!
"It's not alright," Kyoya started once more, this time glaring right into the teacher's eyes, "All of you think it's easy, but none of you know. I have to do well, all the time, every time." With that the boy stood up and walked out of the room leaving the students and their fellow teacher stunned.
Tamaki casted his gaze downward his fair hair covering his face as he spoke, "It's going to be alright," he whispered to himself.
Early the next morning Kyoya took his usual seat. He was much calmer today, having time to think over everything. It still wasn't okay but there wasn't anything he could be about it. He worried that his little outburst yesterday might have not set well with the students and the teacher. But as the students flooded in they smiled as they passed not one brought up the subject of yesterday's outburst. Tamaki walked in being one of the last students. Kyoya sighed to himself as his heart dropped slightly.
I hope he didn't take it too hard yesterday. The last thing I need is a depressed Tamaki.
But just like everyone else Tamaki smiled as he sat down. "Are you feeling better today mon ami?" he asked sweetly.
Kyoya sighed, "Better than yesterday."
All heads turned as the teacher walked into the classroom, "Students," the teacher began.
Here it comes…
"There seems to have been a mistake with the marking system. Your new assignment marks have been uploaded and you can come see them if you wish."
Kyoya (reluctantly) went to see his new mark and smiled sheepishly at the miraculous change. Kyoya wondered if this change had anything to do with his fit of rage.
Tamaki merely smiled mischievously and said, "I told you it would be alright!"
