Hey guys! I'm sorry that it's been such a long time. Honestly, I've been semi-busy and I became obsessed with another fandom. I'm trying to come down from that obsession and so I'm returning to my happy place.
This chapter is shorter, but don't worry. I'm already working on the next chapter.
I hope you guys like this chapter!
Dislcaimer: I don't own Hawaii Five-O or it's characters.
Danny heard someone calling his name from his place in the darkness. The heat was gone and instead he could feel cool water on his body and fresh, clean air blowing against his face. I'm out. I'm free. Steve? That must be Steve. He sounds worried. That's when Danny decided to open his eyes and look up into the worried face of his partner. "Steve?" His voice was weak and he coughed roughly after saying his friends name, but Steve was just happy that his eyes were open.
"Jesus, Danny. You scared the crap out of me. Don't do that." Steve said, his voice shaking as a smile broke out across his face.
Danny smiled too, but the pain was still evident in his eyes. "I'm sorry."
"Stop apologizing, Danno. You have nothing to be sorry for." Steve said, carefully running his hands over his partners body. He started with his neck and was relieved that it felt good and moved onto his arms. Danny's shoulder was in bad shape and his arm wasn't much better. Probably fractured. There was also a large gash on Danny's upper arm and his hands had rope burns on them. Moving on, he grimaced but tried to hide the fear from his partner when he found the damage in Danny's abdomen. It was rigid to the touch and Danny grimaced when he investigated further. Ribs are broken, probably internally bleeding too. His knee was inflamed and there was a bite taken out of the lower area of his leg, teeth marks evident on the pale skin. "How you feeling, buddy?"
"Oh, I'm fine. The air out here is so much better than it was inside." Danny said, a goofy grin painting his features.
"I can believe that, Danno." Steve looked around, expecting to see cop cars and firetrucks come rouring up, but the area around his was silent.
Danny noticed his partner looking around and sighed. "I wouldn't expect any emergency vehicles for awhile, babe. We're in a pretty secluded spot. Bastard probably planned it that way." Danny smiled and started to giggle, greatly disturbing his partner.
"Wanna clue me in, partner?" Steve said, not liking the dramatic change in his friend.
"I didn't get to call him that the entire time because he threatened to hurt you and now he's dead so I can call him whatever I want. It's so satisfying." Danny said, taking a gasping breath and coughing through his giggles.
"Easy, buddy. Why don't we save the laughing for later?"
"Ok. If you say so."
Steve looked around and weighed his options. Danny desperately needed help and he didn't even hear any sirens and he had no idea when he would. Leaving Danny here in search of help was out of the question and there wasn't any help near them, so . . .
Steve genlty lifted Danny's upper torso and cradled it against his chest as he went to gather his partners legs. He felt something wet on his partners back and when he looked over Danny's shoulder, his stomach clenched at the bullet graze that traveled from Danny's left side to his right shoulder. Danno . . .
"Steve? Whattya doin'?" Danny asked against Steve's chest, his voice slurred and tired sounding.
"I'm getting you outta here, Danno. We're going to go find help." He placed his other arm under Danny's legs and started to stand, hefting Danny with him and attempting to shelter him from the strengthening rain.
"Steve?" Danny asked, his face still hidden against his partners chest and his voice coming out muffled.
"Yeah, buddy?" There was no response. "Danny?" Steve looked down at his care and frowned when he saw that Danny's eyes were closed. "Just hang on, buddy. Now it's my turn. I'm gonna get you out of this. I promise, Danny. You have Steve's 100% guarantee."
How was it? I know that it was short, but I wrote this at the end of school and knew where I wanted to end.
I hope everyone had a great holiday and that everyone has a wonderful and safe New Years!
