I know I have been neglecting this story and writing my AliciaxJohnny one. I'm sorry. I still love Alicia and Will together, and will never be over the tragedy of their relationship. I miss Will's presence on the show and from my life. Which makes me really pathetic. Oh well.
As you should by now, I don't own The Good Wife in any way, shape or form.

Alicia didn't quite know how to feel. It was official. She was no longer Alicia Florrick. She was Alicia Cavanaugh once again. And she felt- good? Relieved? Maybe even a little sad? She didn't know why she was sad, the marriage had been over for years now. Maybe it was just seeing it official on paper. 20 years of marriage, gone, just like that. And that was sad, because she does know that a little piece of her heart will always belong to Peter, no matter how much he had hurt her. The last thing he had said to her, after their divorce was over was, "I will always love you Alicia. I'm sorry."
She didn't know how to respond and he walked away, leaving her standing there. She had leaned against the wall, letting it sink in that they were no longer Peter-and-Alicia Florrick. He was Peter Florrick and she was Alicia Cavanaugh. It would take some adjustment. Ok, a lot of adjustment. But she could handle it. She could handle all the stories about her, and the looks people would give her. Some of her clients had already left her firm, but Bishop and Chum-Hum stayed. She lost her St. Alicia nickname, was glad to be rid of it. It was all going to be ok.
Will. She could finally be with Will, officially. After all these years, from their First Year at Georgetown, to working together, to the split, and to almost losing him, they had always come back together. Every single time. There was something to be said of that, that no matter how many times they got pulled apart, they always have been brought back to each other. And this time, she knew it was for good.

Sitting in a coffee shop by herself, Alicia sent a text to Will, knowing he would be finishing up for the day.
"Want to meet for dinner?"
He quickly texted back.
"Yes. 6 o'clock? That little diner?"
She smiled.
"That would be perfect."
After a few minutes, another text came through.
"Are you ok?"
"Yes, I think I am."
"Good."

They met for dinner, and Will greeted her with a bear hug.
"Are you good?"
She breathed him in.
"Yes. I am."
He kissed her, and then grinned.
"Are we less scandalous now?"
She grinned back.
"Yes. Kind of. People will still talk about us."
"They just hate us cause they ain't us."
Alicia stared at him.
"What?"
Will looked down.
"I was trying to catch up on the new teen sayings so I appear cool to Zach and Grace."
Alicia burst out laughing.
"I don't think that's necessary. They already like you. But if you say that, you might lose some of your coolness points. I don't know if that sounds cool coming out of your mouth."
Will threw up a peace sign.
"What, am I not young and hip?"
Alicia kissed him and avoided the question.
"Let's eat. Ok?"
They shared a lot of laughs over dinner, and Alicia felt lighter and more carefree than she had for a long time.
They went for a walk, just enjoying each other's company, when Will grabbed Alicia's hand, and tugged gently. She paused, and turned to look at him.
"Is everything ok Will?"
He hesitated before speaking.
"I know this is crazy, and that you just got divorced Alicia, like today. But I have to say it. I love you. I love everything about you Alicia. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, falling in love with you even more. So, Alicia Cavanaugh, will you marry me?"
Alicia stared at Will. Before she could even reply, he spoke quickly again.
"I don't mean tomorrow, or next week, or 6 months from. I don't even have a ring for you yet. I mean whenever you are ready. I just want you to know that I am in this for life."
Alicia felt her eyes well up with tears.
"Yes Will. I will marry you. Not tomorrow or next week. But someday, sooner rather than later. I love you too, and I want to spend forever with you. It's just these past few years, especially the last couple months have been an emotional roller coaster, and I just need a little bit to regroup. But yes. A thousand times yes."
His eyes met her shining ones.
"Really?"
"Yes. Really."
Pulling her in for a kiss, he whispered in her ear.
"I will wait for you. Just let me know when you are ready, Alicia."
She leaned her head against his chest.
"I won't make you wait too long. I promise."
He kissed her temple.
"I have waited for you for 20 years. I will wait for you forever if I have too."
