Chapter 10
The Next Night; Abandoned Warehouse...
Blackclaw appeared inside the abandoned building from a puff of smoke and looked around the room.
"Shred certainly knows how to pick creepy places..." muttered the dragoness to herself.
She jumped when she heard a clattering noise and a pained grunt and she quietly slinked towards the noise, low to ground. When she neared a corner, she cautiously poked her head around the corner and saw Shred clutching his head in pain before he seemed to grow in height and muscle followed by red fur beginning to cover him and then when his eyes opened, they were a bright yellow with slit pupils.
*Ear-splitting howl*
Blackclaw swayed a bit where she was standing and her last coherent thought was, 'He sure is fluffy', before she fainted with a soft 'thud'. After what seemed like hours she came to and slowly got up and looked around the corner and saw Shred just standing there looking out a window. She walked around the corner.
"Shred?" said Blackclaw nervously and Werewolf-dragon turned around sharply, eyes wide.
"Blackclaw?!" said Shred before he stumbled backwards over a pile of crates, hit the wall behind him which knocked two crates off the shelf above him and the two wooden boxes hit Shred on the head and his head dropped and Blackclaw ran over to him.
"You alright?" said Blackclaw and Shred nods slowly, eyes unfocused.
"What are you doing here Blackclaw?" said Shred as he sat up.
"I was curious with why you always seemed to disappear on full moons and why you come to this creepy place."
"Well...now you know. I'm a Werewolf/Dragon Hybrid. Yippee for me..."
"You don't like it do you?"
"You think?! I spent eleven years of suffering pain and sleepless nights and then I suddenly turn into a Werewolf/dragon on Halloween..."
"I know that costume was too real!"
"...anyway...each and every full moon I turn into this but I don't become a mindless murdering beast but I don't want people to...to see me like this! Seriously, we still have to deal with occasional Anti-Dragon Knight from Sonic's world and imagine what would happen if those knights discovered a werewolf/dragon!"
"We still have to deal with those knights?"
"Rift deals with them most of the time."
"No wonder why I never see that guy anymore...so, who else knows about your...gift...curse...what would you call it?"
"I call it a gift and a curse. And my dad, cousins, and my brother know about it. I find it weird with how they knew..."
"YOU NEVER TOLD ME AND FLAMUS?!"
"You think its easy being a werewolf/dragon?! It's not, okay?!" snapped Shred.
"That's no reason to keep it hidden for six years!"
"Not my fault! I didn't want anyone to know about this except my dad who I was told to tell by some ghostly voice!"
"A ghostly voice?"
"Some ghost visited me and told me to tell my dad about it...dad wasn't very surprised anyway..."
"I just remembered something."
"What?"
"Razor said that when he killed the Jackals in one of their own taverns, he saw a shadow with a toothy grin and long serrated claws pulls a Jackal into a black vortex...and I've done a little research and the only one with a shadow that matches that description was Klaxon."
"Are you saying the guy's not dead?"
"Who knows? I asked Combu what he thought and he...went on a rant and went dark and started blowing up the field for twenty minutes but then stopped and said he didn't know because Klaxon would 'play dead' and then come back in some absurd way and the guy never told him or any of his friends any of his plans. So my guess; Klaxon's dead but his shadow is still around." said Blackclaw before she froze upon seeing the shadow they were just talking about behind Shred but Shred turned around and grabbed the shadow by the neck, the grin fading from its face.
"Talk you living shadow." growled Shred but the shadow shrugs and makes a slashing motion at its neck signifying it can't talk before it punches Shred in the snout and then flies out of room.
"Ow! Stupid slagging shadow!" growled Shred clutching his snout in pain.
"We're not gonna chase it down are we?" said Blackclaw.
"No, we couldn't find it even in broad daylight if it didn't want us to."
"Your great-grandfather was a pain in the a$$."
"Never knew the guy, but I agree."
Both are unaware of the spectral figure with glowing blue eyes flip them the "bird" before it disappeared in white smoke with subtle 'pop'.
"What was that?!" said Blackclaw turning around and looking around frantically, namesakes unsheathed.
"Just the ghost that seems to haunt this place, he always disappears with a popping noise."
"What are we gonna do now?"
"See how the war's going and join in if needed?" said Shred shrugging.
"That works." said Blackclaw before she disappeared in a puff of smoke and Shred disappeared in a vortex of shadow.
Siege on Jackal Fortress; Twenty Minutes Later...
"Look out!" yelled a Jackal as he climbed out of the tank before a massive war hammer collided with its side, sending it rolling on the ground. The owner of the war hammer then slammed his foot down on the Jackal, the scream dying upon his foot crushing the jackal's body.
Blackclaw and Shred appear next to Slither who is watching the whole thing and both gape at the Bull/Dragon's size.
"Is that Dozer?!" said Shred.
"Yep! Guy hit a massive growth spurt and well...he's about as big as the smallest of the Dum-Dum Brothers but he's twice as smart as them."
The three watch as Dozer swings his war hammer and tanks out half a wall, sending Jackals unfortunate enough to be on that wall at that point in time flying to their deaths.
Dozer is now about as big as Tiny Dum-Dum of the Dum-Dum Brothers, spiked shoulder armor covers his shoulders now but overall he looks the same aside from the height and muscle increase. Slither now has red stripes on his green scales but overall looks the same except older.
*Roaring Flames*
The three turn to see the gates to the fortress open and sixty flaming Jackals come out screaming as Flamus walks out after them, flamethrowers roaring. A Jackal tries to jump him from behind with a scimitar but winds up losing his hand as a serrated axe slices it off, spraying blood everywhere.
*CLICK!*
The Jackal's eyes widen as Flamus points a flamethrower gauntlet at him.
*ROARING FLAMES*
The Jackal screams in sheer agony as Napalm-fueled fire covers and before a massive fist smashes him into the ground and Dozer swings his war hammer, taking out a tower on the fortress.
"Mind if we join?" said Shred to Slither.
"Go ahead cousin." said Slither shrugging.
*Feral growl*
*Jackals Scream*
*Bones Breaking*
*Flesh Ripping*
*A Jackal's Head smashes into the camera and slides down*
Twenty Minutes Later...
Over sixty statues are standing in the courtyard of the former fortress as Shred is seen ripping the intestines out of a still living Jackal who is screaming in sheer agony. Flamus is seen pouring "water" on a Jackal before he ignites his lighter and drops it on the soaked Jackal.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" screams the Jackal in agony and Flamus tilts his head as he watches the Jackal burn to death.
"Did we get them all?" said Slither climbing up a wall and looking around for more Jackals before they hear a clattering noise and Flamus walks over to a tool rack and knocks it over to see a Jackal child shivering in fear. Flamus activates his flamethrowers and points them at the kid.
"FLAMUS!" said Shred as he snapped his victim's neck and walked over, "Stand down."
"{Muffled} Why should I? The kid will just grow up to want revenge so I'm giving him a mercy death." said Flamus, keeping his flamethrower gauntlets pointed at the kid.
"A mercy death?! You slowly kill them when you attack Jackals, that's not merciful!" said Slither.
"Yeah! You're cruel when it comes to killing Jackals!" said Blackclaw glaring at Flamus.
"{Muffled} Who cares?! They weren't merciful to me when they slaughtered my family and then left me to live as an orphan! So why should I show mercy to them!?"
"You'll be no better than them."
Flamus' weapons begin to shake before he lowers his arms and sighs and storms out of the area.
"What do we do with the kid though?" said Blackclaw looking over the Jackal kid who was in a fetal position and shaking in horror.
"Let's just get him out of here." said Shred as he picked up the kid who instantly launched onto his red fur and snuggled into his chest.
"Awwwww!" said Blackclaw and Shred turned red in the face which was hidden by his fur.
"Guess having someone snuggle into the chest runs in your side of the family Shred." said Slither with a chuckle.
"Shut up!"
The group then leaves the fortress before Dozer turns into nothing more than a pile of smoking rubble.
