Chapter 10

Abby's Lab

McGee walked into Abby's lab and the first thing he realised was that there was no music playing, which was very unlike Abby because she always had some kind of music playing. The second thing he realized was that Abby was not in her lab, so he started looking for her but he didn't have to look that far because she was sitting in her office, on the computer with the doors closed.

He walked up to the door and knocked and saw Abby look up from her computer screen and smiled at him. She got of the chair and opened the door.

"Hey." McGee said, with a smile on his face, little relieved to hear music playing in her office.

"Hey." Abby greeted him with a kiss on the cheek and smiled again, but this time it got bigger.

"What are you doing in your office with the doors closed?"

"Oh, nothing." Abby replied to quickly and a smile that made McGee not believe her.

"Really?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

Abby bit her bottom lip, "I can trust you, right?" She asked, regretted the moment when she saw the hurt look on his face. "I can trust you. I mean you're one those people who I can trust with anything and everything." She smiled when she saw his expression soften.

"What's this about, Abby?" McGee asked, getting a little confused.

"It's about my trying to get something for Ziva." She answered. "But I don't know what to get her, I mean she's a difficult person to understand, but not as difficult as Gibbs, but she is and I don't know what to get her." She said as she rambled. "McGee! A little help here would be nice, you know."

McGee just stared at her until Abby punched him in the arm. "Ow, what was that for?"

"Were you even listening to what I was saying?" Abby asked, looking a little frustrated.

"Yes, I was." McGee answered while rubbing his arm. "Why do you wanna give something to Ziva?"

"Because I want to McGee!" Abby lifted her hands and placed them on her hips, "You got a problem with that?" When she saw McGee swallow and shake his head, she continued, "I mean she told us that she's having a baby and that to with Tony and then she gets taken by CIRay and then you guys go out and get her back home, I mean she needs a gift for giving us such a big news and coming home to us, safe." Abby reasoned quickly and without taking a breath in-between the sentences.

"Okay, I get it." McGee lifted his hands as to surrender.

"So, what should I get her?"

"You could get her some baby stuff that could help her when the baby is born." McGee suggested.

"Hmm…" Abby started pacing her lab. "That's a good idea, but the problem is we don't know what she's having yet and it's too early to find out."

"But you can get her some unisex stuff."

"I think I'll get her some maternity clothes." She thought out loud. "Yes, that's what I'll get her."

"Okay." McGee agreed with her not wanting to argue with her.

"Okay." She finalised. "So, what are you doing down here?"

"I just wanted to come and see you," he said as he shrugged his shoulders. "If you want me to go then…"

"No!" Abby interrupted him, "I like it when you come down here." She gave him a hug, as if she was trying to make him believe her.

"Okay. I just wanted to come down because we don't have a case and all my paper work is done and I have nothing to do, so I thought of visiting you and keep you company." McGee explained.

"Aww, you are too sweet, McGee." She hugged him again tightly. "And I love you for that."

"Only for that?" McGee asked in mock hurt.

"No, you silly." Abby said as she rolled her eyes. "There are many reasons why I love you."

"Really? And what are they?" McGee asked.

"Oh you know, like you know me like no one else does, you're always there when I need you, you know when I need space and you know when to leave me alone. You know what I like and dislike, and many, many more reasons." Abby listed on her fingers.

"I love you." McGee told her.

Little did they know that Tony was outside and heard their last piece of conversation and he was smiling like an idiot? Once he got over the fact that two of his friends were together, he couldn't wait to share it with Ziva, so he ran up the stairs because he couldn't wait for the elevator.

When he got to the bullpen, he was a little shocked to Gibbs back from his coffee run, which meant that he had to keep his mouth shut until they get home or wait for Gibbs to go for another coffee run.

"You finished with your work, DiNozzo?" Gibbs asked without looking up from the report he was reading.

"Uh, almost Boss." Tony said as he sat down at his desk and pretended to look interested in the file in front of him.

"Then did I give you permission to leave your desk?" Gibbs said sounding calm.

"Uh, no boss." He looked up and saw Ziva trying not to laugh, so he gave her a dirty look. "I went to the restroom, boss." Tony lied.

"Rule 7, DiNozzo." Gibbs stated. Rule 7? Tony mouthed to Ziva. "Always be specific when you lie." Gibbs reminded them.

"Right." Tony nodded his head. "But I wasn't lying, boss."

"Ziva."

"Yes, Gibbs." Ziva looked at her boss

"Go and headslap DiNozzo for me."

"Of course, Gibbs." She said as she got up from her chair and walked to Tony's desk.

"You wouldn't." Tony's eyes wide.

"Watch me." She challenged. When she got to Tony and gave him a headslap, she turned on her heels and got back to her desk. "That felt good." She said with an innocent smile towards Tony, who in return rubbed back of his head.

"I'll get you back for that, David." Tony muttered.

"We will see." Ziva said with a wink.

"You two, stop playing grab ass and get the work done." Gibbs stepped in.

"Yes boss."

It was lunch time and everyone was on their lunch break apart from Gibbs, Ziva and Tony. It was quiet and the three of them were doing their work, well Ziva was trying to because of Tony, he kept throwing paper balls at her and when Gibbs told, more like threatened, him to stop, he did.

After a while, Ziva got up from her chair, giving Tony a look that told him to follow her. She walked over to Gibbs' desk, "Can we talk you, Gibbs?" She asked, suddenly feeling nervous.

Gibbs looked up from whatever he was reading and looked at both of his agents. "What's up?"

"Ziva was thinking about going on desk duty from now on because she doesn't want to anything to happen while she's in the field." Tony explained when he saw Ziva struggling.

Gibbs looked at Ziva, "You sure?" When he saw her nod, he continued, "Okay, but you gotta talk to the Director."

"We will." Ziva said. "You are okay with me going on desk duty?" Ziva wanted to make sure.

"Yeah, it's your choice you say when you want to go on desk duty and I sign the papers." Gibbs confirmed.

"Thank you." Ziva said with a smile.

Tony and Ziva were waiting outside the Director's office, Ziva was getting nervous and Tony was trying to get her stop fidgeting with hands.

"Ziva, please calm down. Everything will be fine" Tony reassured her once again.

Ziva looked at him with a small smile. "I know."

"Then why are you worrying?"

"I do not know. It is probably the hormones." She said and turned her head around.

"Hey," He called her softly, "What's bothering you?" Taking both of her hands in his and held it tightly.

"It is nothing." She shook her head.

"Don't lie to me, Ziva."

"What if my father finds out about this, about us and about the baby?" She finally looked at him.

"Then we will deal with it together, okay?" Tony placed a kiss on her forehead.

She nodded, "Okay."

"You can go in now." The Director's security interrupted them.

They both got up at the same time and Ziva took a deep breath and Tony took her hand in his and knocked on the door, when they heard Vance tell them to go then. They stepped into the office and were told to take a sit, which they did without any questions.

"How can I help you both?" Director Vance asked.

"I wish to go on desk duty until I come back from maternity leave." Ziva started talking.

Vance nodded, "Okay. And how long is your maternity leave, Agent David?"

"I have not decided."

"And you want to go on desk duty this early?"

"Yes, Sir, she does." Tony said, getting a little annoyed with the questions. "Is that going to be a problem?"

"Excuse me, Agent DiNozzo, I'm asking Agent David the questions."

"Yes, Director, I wish to go on desk duty early into this pregnancy."

"As you wish, Agent David." Vance handed Ziva the folder that was in front of him. "Sign all the papers and when you decide how long you want maternity leave for, come and see me and everything will be sorted for you."

Once Ziva completed the papers and signed it, she gave the folder back to Vance and he looked at it briefly before looking up and got out of his desk. He extended his hand towards Ziva, "Congratulation, Agent David," He then did the same for Tony, "And you, Agent DiNozzo."

"Thank you, Director." They both said and left the office.

Once they got to the bullpen, they told Gibbs that everything went fine and the papers are signed, which means he has to go up there and sign his part.
At the end of the day, they all went home at the right time, for once.

Please leave a review to let me know how it was and if you want me to add anything on the next chapter, which I will try to update sooner than this chapter.
