Back in Death City, Marie answers the door, and Soul asks her, "hey Marie, did Maka happen to come by, were looking for her"?
Marie, "oh hi soul, no I haven't seen Maka at all. But I had to leave this morning, so she might of came while I was gone. Stein stayed so he could know".
Soul, "Could we ask if he does know"?
Marie, "go on ahead" She moves aside and lets them in. Soul, and Asi walks into Stein's lab, where they find him still looking at his computer screen. Only now next to it is some kind of microscope. He notices them enter, and turns towards them, with a seemingly good mood, "oh...it's you two".
Soul walks up to him, "hey Stein, did Maka happen to come by? She ran off somewhere, and we don't know where she is".
Stein looks back at his screen, "Yes Maka was here. I called your apartment to you all I found out more on this stuff. But she came herself, then left after I gave her a lead".
Asi, "wait! a lead"!
Stein, "Well it isn't much of one but I told her that a few Students have been seeing a hooded woman going in and out of the sewers at night. Don't really know where Maka is currently, but she's probably trying to find those students".
Soul, "Well, thanks for telling us. Could you also fill us in on what you found out about the blood"?
Stein turns his chair to face them both, "yes. What i've found is that the orange black blood is indeed what caused the deformations in the kishin egg. Not only that but the blood has an assortment of many unidentifiable chemicals in it, that most likely caused the mutation. I also found that the blood has a lifespan of one day after the vial opens. And if you haven't noticed already, it moves towards any soul wavelengths within a centimeter of it. And That's all, I would of had more though if I could test it on a living subject. But that would have caused problems".
Soul, "Thats it. Do you atleast have an idea on why someone would make this stuff"?
Stein, "no I don't, if I knew the side effects of the blood entering the body, i'd be able to. But I don't, so I have to make a guess that the effects are either the same as black blood only much stranger, or something completely different, and possibly worse. So until I find, I can't make any guesses".
Soul, "hmmm… well anyway where are those students you were talking about"?
Stein, "they are currently living in an apartment building on the west main street, it's the only apartment there so finding it will be easy".
Soul, "alright then thanks for the information, we're gonna get going and find Maka".
Stein turns back towards his computer, "goodbye".
Soul, and Asi leave Stein's home, and head towards west side of death city. On the way AsI remembered something, "oh wait I forgot Jakes coming. what time is it". She takes out her phone and looks at the time. "oh man he's probably already at the station, I got to go get him, and catch him up with everything. Will you be alright by yourself"?
Soul, "I can handle myself, you go get him".
Asi heads off the other direction, as Soul continues towards west main street. Eventually Soul gets to the road and finds the apartment, as Maka walks out.
Soul yells to her, "hey Maka Wait up"!
Maka notices Soul, "oh Soul I was just heading over to get you".
Soul ignores her, and continues speaking, "what the heck is wrong with you Maka, you just went off alone without telling me. What if Peren decided to attack you, you'd be defenseless".
Maka, "oh sorry about that. I figured I could let you guys sleep a while, as I found out more". She yawns.
Soul looks at Maka worried, "did you get any sleep".
Maka rubbing her eye, "I think I only got an hour before Stein called. I'm fine though don't worry".
Soul, "ok… i'm just glad your ok. So i'm guessing you already asked those students about the someone going into the sewers".
Maka, "wait how did you know"?
Soul, "I stopped at Steins to ask If he knew where you were and he told us. So did you"?
Maka, "yeah I did. They told me whoever it is keeps going in through the sewer grates in the alleyway next to the building every morning". She looks around, "hey why isn't Svalinn with you"?
Soul, "oh um ,Asi, went to pick up Jake from the station, Too bring him here while catching him up with what we found out. I don't know how long they'll be though".
Maka, "well we should probably wait for them before we just run in. We've already seen what she can do, it wouldn't be a good idea to face her alone".
Soul, And Maka sit down on a bench next to the Apartment building. They wait for 15 minutes till they finally see Asi walking towards them, with another boy around the same age, walking next to her, who they assume is Jake. He is about an inch taller then Asi. He's got sleek dark hair, and a very lean body. when he gets closer they see he's wearing blacked out round glasses, that cover his eyes completely. Asi points them out and says something as they walk over.
Asi, "there they are, the 2 on the bench i'm not gonna introduce you to them so do it yourself".
They walk over, and the kid next to Asi talks to both Soul and Maka, "sup, I'm Jake, won't bother saying anything else other than that".
Soul, "names Soul, and the person next to me is my meister, Maka".
Jake looks at them both for a few seconds before talking, "So Asi told me you two might of found her, so did you"?
Maka, "no. We decided to wait for you two, we didn't really want to go alone after we found out what she does".
Jake smiles, "oh that's good, that means you two are smart, and won't get yourselves killed".
Maka gets confused, "excuse me what".
Jake, "oh sorry, that came out wrong, it was a compliment. A meister we teamed up with before, had the bright idea of fighting Peren himself and ended up getting his weapon killed, and lost a few fingers. I'm just glad you guys thought about it first that's all".
Maka, "oh... thanks. Well all we heard is someone's been going into the sewers, we think it might be her, but it could just be someone else. I can show you where she gets in, just follow me".
Maka leads them to the ally next to the apartment. She points out a very rusty grate leading directly into the sewars. Soul, and Jake both pull the grate from the ground, and set it against a nearby dumpster.
Asi looks down the hole, "I really hope this is worth it".
Jake already going down, "yeah, same thing. Hey you guys brought flashlights right? This place gets dark".
Maka, "n-no we didn't".
Asi pulls out her small flashlight from her pocket, "don't worry I got one remember".
they go down into the sewer path, and begin searching. After about a minute of searching Maka asks Jake, "hey Jake do you mind me asking about how you two got on this case".
Jake answers, "that's a good question, well uhh… the first thing that happened was, our team was just hunting a kishin egg down. We managed to get it but while we were deciding who gets it, she appeared, and told us that she was hunting that kishin egg and we should give it to her. Asi being well Asi, she ate the soul after screaming at Peren about how much she cared. which Peren responded with attacking us. I won't go into anymore details, But two of us was killed, 1 quit the team, and the other just never showed up to any classes after a month. I got out unharmed but... Asi lost an arm".
Maka, "yeah about that, how was it reattach"?
Jake, " well she was put under welding treatment".
Maka, "What exactly is … welding treatment"?
Jake interrupts her and extends his hand signaling everyone to stop, "Shhh!... does anyone else hear that
Everyone looks around and hears nothing at first, but after a few seconds they start hearing a very silent series of people laughing. They continue down the path, the sound of laughter, and soon a voice start getting louder. Eventually they reach the corner, and see light coming from the next hall.
Jake extends his hand behind him towards Asi, "probably should change into your weapon form now Asi".
Asi grabs his hand, and transforms into a sword hilt, without a blade. The handle has a cross guard, with a green and blue eye on both sides. The guard looks like it had been broken off then re attached by welding. A white leather wraps around the handle, and has flat diamond shape pommel with a hole in it. A keychain of a also small silver dollar sized shield hangs from the pommel.
The eyes look towards Jake, "please be a bit more careful while fighting. That goes for you two as well, she cuts through weapons like paper".
Soul turns into his scythe form and lands in Maka's hands, "We'll keep that in mind. Where's her blade"?
Jake swings the Asi in front of him. When he does they see lightning course through her and light project out where the blade would be. The light goes out 3ft and twists and bends for moment before solidifying into a flamberge styled blade.
Jake smiles a bit, "there it is, she projects soul waves as a blade matching it. Sort of helps you, with your fighting style".
Maka looks around the corner, and sees that 10 feet away is a room that's being lit up with an led lamp and has a tv that is on a stand up comedy. She can see dozens of pipes also in the room along the walls, one of them having a bag, and cloak hanging from a valve. They get closer and see a couch, where they see Peren Hatchet sleeping.
