AN: *MUST READ* OTHER PREVIOUS DIARY HOLDERS THAT HAD NOT BEEN MENTIONED IN THIS STORY HAD ALREADY BEEN KILLED SO TECHNICALLY THE ELEVENTH IS THE LAST DIARY HOLDER. AND OH, THIS STORY'S COMING TO AN END.

Disclaimer: I do not own Mirai Nikki.

"Where there is love there is life."

-Mahatma Gandhi

"The watcher diary- allows the diary holder to check the entries of every Diary User. This gives him several advantages such as being able to track the position of his foes as well as prepare countermeasures if an entry suggests he's in danger," Akise uttered the data from his notes.

"So the watcher diary, huh?"

"But we do have an advantage against him," A smile was plastered on Akise's face.

"And what would that be?" Yuno quirked a slender brow.

"I don't have a diary and your diary isn't working anymore so he can't use his watcher diary on us. He's the last diary holder. The last obstacle keeping you away from being the new god," Akise gently squeezed Yuno's hand.

Yuno's face suddenly turned solemn and it didn't go unnoticed by Akise.

"What's wrong?" Akise tilted her chin.

"If I become god would you still be there?"

Akise's expression softened and he smiled," Course I'd still be there. So lighten up, Princess. I'd be right by your side as long as you need me."

"... I never knew you could be cheesy too."

Akise chuckled.

This wasn't supposed to end like this. Things were supposed to get better. They were supposed to have their happy end together just like how she always wanted. He was supposed to be by her side forever like he promised. She was supposed to finally obtain her happiness. IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THIS.

Briny tears flooded down from bloodshot eyes as Yuno held Akise's hand as if her life depended on it. Her whole body trembled and her lips quivered uncontrollably.

"No! Don't you dare..." She trailed off. She couldn't find it in herself to say that word. The word 'die' tasted awful in her mouth. It wasn't supposed to be like this. It felt like it was only a minute ago that they felt like they were the happiest people on Earth and now everything went downhill. Killing Eleventh was supposed to be easy but then after killing him he managed to shoot one last bullet for her and Akise took the hit for her, right in his chest.

Akise just smiled even with the blood dripping from the side of his mouth," Hey, don't cry. I don't want the sight of you crying to be the last thing I see before I die. Smile for me, alright?" The pain in his chest was excruciating but what hurts the most was that he failed. He failed Yuno. He promised to protect her and be by her side but failed. He broke his promise to her. The one that started all of this.

"Hey Yuno, remember that promise I made?" He felt the wound on his chest from the gunshot leaking more blood the way more tears leaks from Yuno's crying eyes.

Yuno nodded, not trusting her voice. Her eyes felt like it was burning that she could no longer see clearly. Her body was wracked with great heavy sobs and she was shaking as a leaf as kept holding Akise, never letting go and never intending to.

Akise's eyes suddenly clouded up with unshed tears. He managed to smile the way he usually does. That smile that Yuno sees everyday but wouldn't be able to anymore," I'm sorry if I broke it."

"No! Don't say that as if you're gonna die! Everything will be okay. You'll survive," Akise's hand was growing death cold in her grasp and she tried squeezing it just to convince herself he was still there. He might still be there but she could feel him slipping through her fingers. She tried convincing herself that everything was going to be okay, that he was gonna live, that they'd be happy again as if this never happened and it was all a nightmare they'll try to forget... That they were gonna have their happy end.

Akise still had that smile on his face as he stroked her hair lovingly," I'm sorry."

As Yuno sat there, holding Akise's hand, watching the light fade out of his eyes, all the good times and bad times they shared flashed in her mind. The first time she met him and wanting to kill him. Her murder attempt at him that failed, getting them stuck in a cave. Her breaking down in front of him and him comforting her and making that promise. Yukiteru's death and how he stayed by her side. How he helped her get over Yukki's death. How he helped her hunt down all the remaining diary holders. And even if she never admitted it out loud- getting jealous at Tsubaki for being that close to Akise even if it was just part of his plan. No matter what happens those memories would last forever and never be replaced. The promises made. The laughter shared. The subtle ways of telling each other 'I love you.' Those would never be lost or erased. Her heart felt like it was sinking. Actually no word could be enough to describe the feeling she had right now. Her crying grew heavy and intense as she watched Akise break and shatter into bits of pieces like a glass... like that one time Deus had him disassembled. The pieces flew with the wind and in a matter of seconds there was no trace of Akise's death nor Akise. How cruel, she couldn't even have a body to burry.

Then all of a sudden Muru Muru appeared and proclaimed her as the new god. She didn't hear all of what Muru Muru said. She was busy crying her eyes out. Her hand that had been holding Akise's hand was hanging in the air as if reaching out in the empty air just to see if she could hold Akise again and see that he was not dead. She tried convincing herself that Akise was just playing a prank on her and would sneak up from behind, hugging her from behind then he'd give her a kiss on the forehead just like how he'd always do. She tried telling herself that Akise was still alive and might probably be at home right, waiting for her... but deep inside her she knew... she knew the lies won't and couldn't help her. Akise would probably be disappointed in her right now. He hates it when she refuses to accept the truth and would lie to herself. He prefers the short term pain of accepting the truth for her over the long term pain of living in denial, as he once stated.

By time they had reached the Cathedral (her new home starting today) she had stopped crying and instead had a blank look on her face, like she was not there anymore, like she was dead herself. She did nothing, just sit at a corner, curl up, hug her knees to her chest and bury her face to her knees. She didn't care anymore. The last important person in her life had died. And before she knew it the tears came up again. Tears welled up in her eyes. She sobbed and rocked herself back in forth. She let out a heart wrenching wail. Who was gonna protect her now? Who was gonna assure her that everything would be okay when she'd feel like her world was falling apart? Who was gonna hold her in his arms whenever she'd have nightmare and whisper soothing words on her ears? Who was going to stay by her side when she'd be completely in her Yandere mode and just smile and call her 'my Yandere'? Who'd share her dreams with as they lay on the roof, watching the beautiful stars displayed on the night sky? Who'd hug her and kiss her on the forehead? She missed him. She terribly misses him already. His smile, the way he'd place his hand on his chin when he was thinking, the way he'd manage a smile even in the worst situations, his calmness, his cerise colored eyes, gleaming with determination all the time, the way sometimes he'd face would be stoic and devoid of emotion, they way he'd sometimes run his hand through his messy silver hair, his smirks that could make Yuno think that he was mocking her and subtly saying 'I win', the way he'd tease her sometimes and he'd find it funny when she gets annoyed (there are times he'd tell she looked cute when she was annoyed or angry and she'd just glare at him) and most of all the way he'd kiss her and tell her everything was going to be okay.
