Chapter 10
Pet Blues
Pov Guan-Thei
It's been a day since the incident in the trophy room, and my pet hasn't woken up since! 'He won't eat the food provided! He wont response to my commands or any prodding/rewrapping of his injuries.' And now after all my effort, he's been reduced to drifting in and out of consciousness mumbling strange ooman speak. I been trying for the last couple of hours, to bring him out of it, but nothing works. I tried just to list; food, liquid fluids, bathes, gentling petting and speaking to him. NOTHING. I decided to finally contracted Yeydine, my wrist comm finally responding. He'll be here in an hour. Hopefully I haven't broken him or….something.
Pov Yeydine
It's been a week since I last saw the ooman and I have been told of his little adventure. He really likes vents! It was no surprise after all he seemed quite active we I first soar him. And now, especially after the results I've found in his blood sample and tissue samples, something I am almost a 100% certain that normal ooman's don't have. I believe it's some sort of foreign DNA or gene mutation. Clearly whatever it is, it was introduced into his system. (Being regularly exposed to in small doses or ingested/injected in multiple doses.) Whatever it is it means, it mostly will explain what Ne'dtesei witnessed during the invasion. I have so far deuced that its enhances his senses, speed and endurance. With training it would make him quite the fighter.
Arriving to Guan-Thei's, equipment in hand, I knock. Which has the immediately reaction of a sudden Guan-Thei looking exceptionally stressed and worn. I was immediately ushered in, and quickly spotted the ooman fast asleep on some furs. I thought for a moment, due to the position he was knocked out. However looking at Guan-Thei's face it must be normal for him. I settle down next to him, placing my equipment down. Raking in what I see, bound injures on his leg and side, the new one to his head AND how thin he has become, I can easily count his ribs. "Has he eaten anything?" I stress worried for his condition. "No, I've tried everything." I start making a mental check list of his state. Noting the ones he had when I met him and how they've healed. And of the new ones.
-Cuts and bruising on the feet, Still unhealed, but healed to the point were it shouldn't be painful to walk on.
-Bruises and cut littering his skin, most on their last healing cycle, however there are some new ones on his torso.
-Tangled mane and filthy skin. Can cause an infection to open wounds if not cleaned soon.
-Cut to the back of the head, not very big, no bone showing threw. Already scabbed over.
-Extremely thin, bones protruding from his torso.
"I suggest a bath fir…." "I'll do that now you get everything else ready" she cuts me up, picking up her pet and stomping off with him. Now were to start…..
One Hour Later
"Done." Guan-Thei enters her pet wearing a navy blue outfit, and she's messed with his manes style cutting it short, adding braids. Mean while I have seen how she'd ooman proofed her living courters, the vents especially and got out everything needed for fix his injures and Hunger problem. "Good, I will begin tending to his injures. Mean while I would like you to go and collect the following items from my lab. Bakuub should be there to assist you." I say handing her a list of edible items for the ooman. To aid in restoring the lost nutritions. Huffing she leaves me to the now semi awake ooman.
Staring at me with untrusting eyes, and who could blame him I did trick him last time. Decided that I would treat him like any other patient, I'd be gently whist ignoring him! Getting to work examining the old wounds on his side and leg. Adding some simple anti-bacterial pastes and some internal scar creams sealing the wound. He surprisingly stays docile throw out the process, not reacting to my care. But I couldn't find myself bother by this, especially if it means the job gets done faster. I finally get a reaction when I reach for his feet, he jerks his foot away, still a litter tender it seems. attempts to move away from me. Purring I gently pull him back to me. He makes a noise and he starts to glare at me. I reach for the anti-bacterial paste, I gently, applying the paste to his feet, adding a light bandage to cover them. Ensuring that the cream will be absorbed into his flesh and not the floor. Finishing I finally moving up to the most resent injury, the one to his head.
At this point he seems to have enough. Exhausted, he starts to struggle, pulling himself away from me. I start purring loudly, My hands stoping his retreat. His head spins, eyes point blank daring me to make him. I decided on some form of communication, in hopes to occupy his mind. Stoping the useless behaviour. Pointing to myself, eager to see if he can remember my name. Clicking and giving light growls of encouragement, my efforts are returned with a confused look. He releases an angry huff. So I repeat my actions, clicking once more, he responses by making some odd noises. Till finally the one I wanted came up "Ye-dine," He spits. 'meh close enough,' His mind now distracted.
It suddenly occurs to me that he doesn't yet have a name. Guan-Thei had yet to give him one. But I am reminded that mine is my birth name. Perhaps he too, has a birth name, he must have one! So after some debate, I point to him clicking and growling encouragement. He sits in thought, staring at my finger, till finally his head snaps up. Eyes starring into mine with new found joy. "Ren" he squeaks."Rrr-en" I growl out, how very oomanish. Purring I reach over to pet him. His expression changes immediately to a hate filled glare, jerking away from my hand. Sighing I trying to my medical responsibilities, grasping some bandages from my equipment bag. I turned to the ooman, reaching out. I gently grasped the back of his neck, With nothing more then a single flinch I continue. Turning him so his head injury is easily accessible, I start to gently apply the paste, as he flinches I purr, soothing him. I remove my hands, finished the medical aspect of this visit. Just in time for Guan-thei to return. He jumps at the sound of the door opening, eyes locked on Guan-Thei, then on the tray of food. Clearly he's hungry.
I stand up to receive the food, taking the tray from Guan-Thei as she pasted, I sit back down and present it to him and with in seconds he starts to pick up pieces, sniffing them and then finally eating them. "Finally" Guan-thei sighs. "The ooman required more meats from his home planet, ours didn't contain the nutriment his bodied needed, and it need to be cooked to a certain degree. Bakuub and I will have his meals prepared in advance for him. And will be dropping them off, all you will need to do is re-heat them as you need them." I tell her with a slightly smug tone. My face sobers up though, remembering the other thing I needed to talk to her about. "Guan-thei there's something I need to discuss with you. Its about his blood sample and tissue samples…"
