Recap:He rolls his eyes, "Femi, want to be my girlfriend?"
I smile playfully, "I thought you'd never ask!" We both laugh.
"WHATT!?" Jounouchi exclaims, "You went to get the sneakers, and found the owner poisoned!? Did you send him to the hospital?!"
"Yeah," Yugi says.
"But I took his scorpion," I say holding my new pet which I named Shadow.
"That's stealing!" Honda says.
"So?" I ask.
"Anyway, I guess we can't beat him up," Honda says put off.
"But," Yugi says, "I don't know how, but one of the sneakers has a hole…"
"What!?" Jounouchi screams, them he smiles proudly at something and says, "Yugi, these sneakers are great! The hole is like a medal of honor!"
"Okay!" Yugi says excitedly
"I don't get it," Honda mutters. I just laugh at my friends. Thinking about today, shouldn't I feel guilty about stealing this? I mean I don't even give it a second thought. I just took it. And where the hell did that dream come from? Why did it feel so real? I grip my necklace. Whatever, I'll think about it later. I'd rather be with my friends!
Cards with Teeth Part 1&2
Femi's P.O.V,
Dream:
I laugh sadisticly. Then I smirk.
"You're dead," I say as I raise my sword and with on clean swing of my sword, he's head rolls on the floor. "This is now mine." I pick up a golden bracelet. I start to walk away, but something golden catches my eye. I pick it up. It's two dagger. Golden Handles with very sharp points. The Eye of Ra is on them both. They match. I smile, "One for me and one for big brother." I look at the dead guy, "Don't worry you're death is not in vain. I will make very good use of these items." The Jewel of Ra glows, "I vow that on the name-"
BEEP BEEP!
I shot up breathing hard. What a horrible dream! I look over at the clock. Shit! I'm late! I get up and run to the bathroom.
"Hey guys," I say as I walk in the classroom, "I'm sorry to make you wait!" I sit in my seat by Yugi. Why do I keep having dreams like that? I don't get it! I don't like not knowing!
"Hey," I turn to see Kaiba, "You alright?"
"Yeah, thanks," I say, "Just a weird dream." I smile at him. He's never really said much to me. Or anyone else for that matter. He nods and turns to whatever he was doing before.
"Hey, Femi," Jounouchi says gaining my attietion, "You alright?" Honda, Anzu, and Yugi looks at us.
"Yeah, Just a weird dream," I say, "Ever since I moved here, I seem to have them a lot." I touch my necklace. Yugi looks at me in concern. I smile at him.
"Well, do you want to come to my house after school?" Yugi asks, "You can stay the night since your parents are'nt home." I flinch.
"Oh, I'm sorr-"
"It's fine," I say, "Of course I'll spend the night! You know, I had a feeling you were going to ask that, so I packed clothes!"
"Do you know the future!?" Jounouchi says excitedly.
"No," I say bluntly, "I just know things. My friend, Marik, used to call me 'the All-Knowing Femi'."
"I thought you said we were the first friends you made," Anzu says.
"I rarely consider Marik as a friend more like a brother," I say.
"Oh," Anzu nods.
Then the teacher walks in.
Now we're at the Kame Game Shop! All except Honda.
Grampa is holding these cool looking cards, "Ho, ho, this is the card game that's such a hit in America. Duel Monsters!"
"Wow," Anzu says.
"It's got a small following in Japan too!" Yugi says.
"They look familar," I mutter. I know I've seen them before, but I've never even heard of Duel Monsters. Strange.
"They're different from normal playing cards," Gramps says, "See, they have all sorts of pictures on them. There are thousands of different monsters and spell cards!"
"Wow, this is really art!" Anzu says.
"Some are creepy," I say, "I like!"
"Huh! So how do you play with these?" Jounouchi asks, "Is it like gambling?"
"It's a Trading Card Game you know, a game where you trade cards!" Yugi says, "You play with two people. Ypu each stake one card, and the one who wins take both. The game is set up so players are both wizards. They use their cards ro cast spells or summon monsters to fight! The cards have different attack and defense strenghts. The person who loses all of their life points first loses the game."
"Of course there are strong cards and weak cards," Gramps explains, "But with so many cards you could never collect them all! I've heard of a fan in America who sold his house just to buy one card!"
"Dude, it's just a card," I say.
"You said that about my amazing Air Musles!" Jounouchi says.
"And I meant it!"
"Anyway," Gramps says gaining our attietion, "This old man is fan enough to have one amazing card! Uh-Huh! I suppose I'll let you see it. This card is my treasure!" He picks something up, "This is it!" A white dragon with blue eyes. I've seen that before! "This called the blue-eyes white dragon! It's so overpowered that they stopped production. Collecters would pay through the nose to get their hands on this ultra-rare card like this!"
"Wow," Anzu says, "Put it that way and it really sounds serious."
Where have I seen that before?
"Alright Yugi!" Jounouchi says, "Let's play duel monsters at school tomorrow!"
"Yup!" Yugi says excitedly.
"I need some cards, Gramps!" Jounouchi says putting money down, "Gimmie a pack with plenty of strong ones!"
"Sorry, you can't tell until you open the pack," Gramps says with a slight laugh, "Thank you very much!"
"I want some too!" I say handing him some money. I open my pack. Wow these are nice. Good effects too. I stop at the card 'Yami'. It's a magic card. It increase the ATK and DEF of all Fiend and Spellcaster-Type monsters by 200 while decreasing 200 ATK and DEF points from Fairy-Types. Yami instantly comes into my mind. I keep going then I stop at a familiar looking monster. The Wicked Dreadroot with 4000 ATK and DEF. Cool. I put them in my pocket for later.
RING!
I turn to see Kaiba walking through the door. I smile at him. He nods to me in greeting.
"Come on in!" Gramps says to him. Yugi looks at him.
"Well, well," Kaiba says, "So this game store is your Family's, Yugi?"
"Ah," Yugi says noticing who it is, "You're Kaiba from our class!"
"Hello," Kaiba says, "So you play duel monsters?" Suddenly I have bad feeling.
"You play too, Kaiba?!" Jounouchi asks, "That's perfect! We were going to play tomorrow at school! You can join our group!"
"Huh?" Kaiba asks, "Join your group? Give me a break! You think you're in my league? Let me see you're cards..." Jounouchi hands them over then Kaiba throws them, "Ha Ha! Useless! What a beginner! You could never match me! Lousy cards!"
"Hey! Those are my cards!" Jounouchi yells.
"I'm good enough to compete at the national competition!" Kaiba says, "You could never win against my deck. It'd be pointless to play against you. Come back after you've collected at least 10,000 cards." He chuckles.
"Man, he pisses me off!" Jounouchi looks ready to kill.
"It's okay," Yugi says trying to calm him down, "I'll play with you, Jounouchi."
Kaiba turns to Gramps, "Do you have any good cards here? I might be persuaded to buy."
"Yes, yes, thank you!" Gramps says. I watch as Kaiba notices the Blue-Eyes.
"Wha!" Kaiba says in complete shock, "IT CAN'T BE! O-old man! W-where'd you get that card? What is it doing here? Let me have a look at it!"
"Well, just a look." Kaiba looks at it with so much shock that I'm shocked just by looking at his face. He stares at it in complete thought. "Okay, that's enough," Gramps says hugging the card protectively.
"Old Man! If you give me that Blue-Eyes White Dragon," Kaiba starts, "I'll trade you all of these cards!" A trunk full of nothing but cards.
"Oh, my Ra," I say shaking my head.
"WOWZA!" Anzu exclaims.
"A briefcase full of cards!" Jounouchi shouts.
"I'm sorry," Gramps says, "But no."
"Gramps turned him down!?" Yugi exclaims, "Double Wowza!"
"I repeat, Oh, my Ra, dudes, it's just a card."
Kaiba looks shocked and defeated, "No matter what?"
"Kaiba, isn't it?" Gramps asks, "I know why you want this card so much, however, I have a good reason to hold onto it. It's not because it's a strong card. An important gamer friend of mine from America gave me this card. This card is as important to me as my friend! I could never give it up! It's the same with the common cards. If you really treasure something, it grows a heart of its own. Just like this card. You would never trade anything for that heart! So take good care of each and every card in this trunk, Kaiba! Then you'll find the true strength of this game."
"Fine," Kaiba says picking up his trunk, "I get it! Later then..." Then he walks out the door.
"Hey! Great speech, Gramps!" Jounouchi says.
"Even without using a rare card, Grandpa has never lost a game!" Yugi says. They all turn to me.
"Okay, fine," I say, "It's not just a card, it's your soul. I can see it now." They smile.
Dream,
I'm sitting on the bank of the Nile washing the blood from my hands. Then I sit down.
"Hello?" I turn to see the hottest guy I've ever seen. Yep, Yami.
"What do you want?" I ask coldy. He looks shocked for some reason.
"Don't you know who I am?" he asks.
"No," I say, "Should I care?"
"I guess not," he says. He sits beside me."What's you're name?" he asks.
I roll my eyes, "Femi, remember it, I never repeat myself."
"Okay,"
"You going to give me a name?" I ask, "Or should I think of a nickname? Sincee you decided to bother me."
He glares at me.
"Okay, nick name it is," I say looking him up and down, "Yami."
"What?"
"It means dark or darkness," I say, "Your eyes show a sort of creepy darkness, I like them."
"Fine," he says, "Yami, it is."
I sit up really fast. I really need to stop having dreams like that! I walk into Yugi's room. He's still asleep. Okay, then. Just like the last times. I walk into the bathroom and turn on the water. Luckily I gave Shadow enough food to last for two days, but when I get home, I'll feed him again. I just get in the shower when Yugi knockes on the door.
"Femi, is that you?"
"No, it's Jounouchi," I say, "I'm hiding from the pound!"
"Ha, ha very funny."
"Hey, what's that, Jounouchi?" Honda asks as Yugi and Jounouchi duel. A group of kids are surrounding us.
"I'm playing the new card game, Duel Monsters!" He says excitedly, "Yugi, I attack with my zombie!"
"It's my turn now!" Yugi says, he draws a card, "All right! The Black-land Fire Dragon! He's strong!" The dragon has ATK/1500 and DEF/800. "I attack Jounouchi's zombie and destroy it!"
"I can't compete!" Jounouchi says.
"That move lowers Jounouchi's life points from 2000 to 1500.
The duel continues...
"AGGH!" Jounouchi shouts, "He got me! Again!"
"Yay I won!" Yugi cheers.
"I'm out of life again!" Jounouchi says. People laugh at him saying stuff like 'Jounouchi you're so weak,' or, 'You have to get better cards!' I notice Kaiba and my stomach turns.
"Yugi," he says.
"Ah, Kaiba!" Yugi smiles.
Kaiba smiles back, "It's fun to watch you play!" Yugi smiles while I'm think, 'who the hell is this? What happened to the boy yesterday at the game shop?'
"By the way," Kaiba says, "Do you have the Blue-Eyes, White Dragon card in your bag?"
"Well, that's my bag," Yugi says, "Wow! How'd you know it was there? I begged Grandpa to lend it to me just for one day! Had to promise not to play with it though."
"Could you show it to me one more time?" Kaiba asks, "Ever since yesterday when I touched this card, I've been so excited. I couldn't sleep! And well, what your grandfather said yesterday made me realize what it means to love the cards!"
Yugi smiles, "Okay then! I'll show it to you!"
Kaiba looks at it with such intrest then says, "It is a beautiful card!" Then I saw him do it. He switched the card! Then he says, "Thank you, Yugi. Just holding this card makes me love this game even more!" I notice the way Yugi looks at the card. He noticed it too. "Later then!" Kaiba says, "Have fun with your game!"
~After School~
"Kaiba!" Yugi yells with me right beside him.
"Yugi!" Kaiba says, "Are you on your way home?"
"Kaiba, please give that card back," Yugi says in a voice mixed with sadness and seriousness.
"What?" Kaiba looks shocked.
"I didn't say anything about switching the cards because everyone was watching," Yugi admits.
"S-so you think I stole your card?" Kaiba raises his voice, "I gave it back to you!"
I snort, "Even I can tell the difference between a copy and the real thing."
"Please give it back," Yugi pleads.
"I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT IT!" Kaiba yells.
"YOU MUST KNOW!" Yugi yells, "YOU HAVE TO KNOW HOW IMPORTANT THST CARD IS TO MY GRANDPA! IF I DON'T KEEP MY PROMISE AND GIVE THAT CARD BACK, I'LL BREAK GRANDPA'S HEART! U CAN'T DO THAT TO HIM! HE'S MY GRANDPA! I CAN'T BETRAY HIM!" Wow, Go Yugi!
"Oh come on," Kaiba says, "What about my feelings? I really don't know about your card. Before you complain about your grandfather, why don't you try believe in your friends?"
"But Kaiba!" Yugi starts.
Kaiba takes his suitcase and hits Yugi in the face, "SHUT UP ALREADY!"
"Hey!" I yell and before I could say anything he pimp slaps me. I'm in shock. D-did he really just pimp slap me?!
"I don't care about 'loving the cards' or stupid things like that!" Kaiba says, "Tell the old man this: It's not how you play the game. It's wether you win or lose!" He walks away laughing. I see a shining light. I turn to see Yami. He grabs my face and looks where he slapped me.
"Yami?" I ask.
"Yes?"
"D-did he seriously pimp slap me?" I ask. He rolls his eyes and nods. "HE IS DEAD!" I yell.
"Calm yourself," he says to me, "He'll get what he deserves."
Kaiba sits across from Yami, and I sit beside Yami.
"Well, Yugi!" Kaiba says folding his arms, "I can't believe you challenged me to a game of Duel Monsters. What are you thinking?"
"The rules of duel monsters will be a little different from what you've seen before!" Yami says with a smirk. Ra, that smirk. As if he knew what I was thinking, he turns and winks at me. The back to Kaiba he says, "You'll see once we start."
"Well, sounds like fun," Kaiba says.
"Game start!" Yami says.
"Well then, I'll go first," Kaiba says, he draws a card, "Yes! Five starts! The Ryu-Kishin Gargoyle!" He sets down a monster with ATK/1000 and DEF/500. As soon as the card hits the table, smoke goes around it. "Huh? What the!? The card came to life!?" Just as Kaiba had said, the gargoyle was sitting on his card.
"Cool!" I say with excitement.
"I knew you would like this," Yami says to me. Then he turns to Kaiba, "I told you this game was different. Now the card I choose to stand against your gargoyle's attack is this one! The Blackland Dragon!" ATK/1500-DEF/800. I watch as the card comes to life before my very eyes. The dragon and gargoyle are just itching to fight each other.
"The Dragon's flame breath defeats the Gargoyle!" Yami says. And true to his word, the dragon kills the gargoyle using his breath.
"I lost," Kaiba says in shock of losing or of the real monsters though, I can't say. Then the card disapears!
"The monsters from the cards become real," Yami says, "And a penalty game awaits whoever loses! Those are the rules in the Shadow Game Version of Duel Monsters!"
"Duel Monsters, the Shadow Game," I say, "has a nice ring to it." Yami winks at me before going back to Kaiba.
"My monster disapeared?"
"After that exchange, your life points drop from 2000 to 1500!" Yami says. Yami has 200 life points. "And as for the punishment, the one who loses shall know death in a penalty game!"
Kaiba af first looks shocked, then he laughs, "T'his is good! I'm glad I took your challenge! This is the extreme game I've been looking for!" I personally already know who is going to win. Yami is. Because he wants Yugi's Grandpa's heart back, which is a good intention, unlike Kaiba who's just here on acount of pride.
"Now it's your turn to draw a card!" Yami says.
"Okay!" Kaiba draws, "Alright! The Minotaur, the Battle Ox! With 1700 attack and 1000 defense, this rare card is one of the strongest beast warriors!" The Battle Ox come out of the card. "The Battle Ox beats your dragon in both attack and defense! You can't defeat it no matter what you do! GO, Battle Ox! Slice the fire dragon to ribbons!" The dragon tries to fight back as the minotaur attacks him, but it's no use. The poor dragon! That's just mean! And not just because dragons are amazing! Kaiba laughs (what a sick prick!) "Begone! Disappear! My minotaur's attack pwer beat your dragon's by 200 points!"
"So I lose 200 from my life points!" Yami says.
Yami: 1800/ Kaiba: 1500
"Now it's your turn to draw, Yugi," Kaiba says, "But it won't be easy to draw a card that'll beat my Battle Ox" Yami draws a card.
"My next card is: The Mystical Elf!" Yami says. ATK/800-DEF/2000
She shows up on her knees looking very pretty. Even though she isn't great for battle, she's great for defense so that's what Yami does. He puts her in defense.
"Very smart," Kaiba says, "The Mystical Elf's defense beats Battle Ox's attack by a safe margin. If I attack, I'll just hurt myself. So I'll go into defense mode as well." Now the Battle Ox is on his knees too. "Looks like we're in a stalemate, so we'll take turns drawing and building our hands, at least until I draw a card that can defeat your elf." Kaiba draws, "and right off, I get one!" He puts it face down behind the monster. It could be a spell or trap card... "I'll save this for later," Kaiba says.
Yami looks concerned about that card. He draws. He shows me the card. It's called Skull Servant ATK/300-DEF/200. A weak card that he puts in defense.
"Are you done?" Kaiba says ans starts his turn, "I'm playing a spell card on my Battle Ox! And the card is Giant's Might! The battle ox points go up by 20%! Now Grow!" And the minotaur did. New ATK/2040-New DEF/1200. "Now my attack is higher than you stupid elf's defense!" Oh no! "Attack the Elf! Off with her head!"
"Okay, no more Alice in Wonderland for you," I mutter. Yami looks at me and shakes head.
"And next that useless Skull Servent!" Kaiba says ignoring me. In turn after turn, the Battle Ox destroyed one of Yugi's/Yami's card after the other. "Give up Yugi! Theres no way you can win!"
Kaiba: 1500/ Yami: 500.
I close my eyes and hope with all of my heart the next card will be of use or it's all over.
"All Right!" Yami says making me look at him, "The Summoned Skull, the strongest monster in my deck!" ATK/2500-DEF1200
"The Summoned Skull?! The Skull Demon!? That's one of the five strongest fiends! How could you have it!"
"Dude, his grandpa owns a game shop," I say, "Duh!" They ignore me, which happens a lot.
"Say goodbye to your Battle Ox!" Yami says, "Demon Lightning!" Of course the Battle Ox dies.
"My Minotaur!" Kaiba yells. Poor baby. And Yami's counterattack began! The demon crushed every card Kaiba drew!
"Now," Yami says, "The outcome isn't so clear anymore is it?"
Kaiba: 800/ Yami: 500.
Kaiba's face goes to scared to relief and confidence.
"I have to say you're pretty good, Yugi," Kaiba says, "I didn't think it'd be this close. You should enter the next tournament, but this is as far as it goes! I've got a special card I've been saving for this eventuality." Is he doing what I think he's doing? "THIS!" he throws down the Blue-eyes, "The Blue-Eyes White Dragon! The rarest card on Earth!" ATK/3000-DEF/2500
"What?!" Yami yells.
"Here it come!" Kaiba says laughing, "Yes! This is great! This is so cool!" I had to agree with him there.
"That's my grandpa's card!" Yami says in shock.
"You grandfather's card?" Kaiba says still laughing, "You're wrong! This is my very own card! I just happened to get it from someone!" Likely story. "Your Summoned Skull's attack is 2500. My Ble-eyes is 3000! The difference is 500 points! The exact 500 points that you have left, Yugi. In other words, next turn you'll drop down to zero and I'll win! Go blue-eyes! Finish Yugi!" Blue-eyes starts to attact then just stops in front of summoned skull. "What?! Why don't you attack!?"
"Kaiba, you still don't understand the true meaning of this game," Yami says, "That card won't attack me because your soul isn't in that blue-eyes!"
"What!?"
"I can see it," I say looking in the eye of the dragon. Grandpa.
"I see the soul of my grandpa behind those blue eyes!"
"My blue-eye is disappearing!?"
"To my grandpa that card was more than a collectible," Yami says, "The dragon was torn between its fate to fight and loyalty to my grandpa's soul. It chosse to destory itself as the only way to fulfill its duty."
"T-thats impossible!" Kaiba says, "There's no way that card can think!"
"Now its my turn!" Yami says, "As you can see, I've been keeping this spell card face down. I chose to use it this turn! Monster Reborn! If course the monster I choose to revive is the Bue-Eyes White Dragon!"
"What!?"
"Attack!" Yami yells, "Burst Stream!" The Blue-eyes does as is told.
"I lost!" Kaiba says in shock.
"And now your penalty game!" Yami says. Then I watch as he turms into a card. Cool! "Kaiba, you will probably experience death in that world. but don't worry, it's only a nightmare. Only an illusion. This is my wish, that by becoming a card, you will come to understand the heart if the cards. Then just like my grandpa, you'll be a true grame master, As for the dragon, I'll return ut to grandpa. Then the card will be happy as well."
"Wow," I say. He looks at me. "Walk me home?"
"My pleasure."
~At my house~
"You haven't been sleeping well," he says.
"Yeah, I know."
"Why?"
"I keep having weird dreams."
"You can tell Yugi and me."
I smile, "I know and I will. When I'm ready."
"Okay," He looks outside, "I'd better go it's getting late."
"No goodbye kiss?" I ask.
He leans closer to my face, "Would I ever forget that?"
Before I could answer, he's lips are on mine. In a soft and gentle way, you would never think that he once burned a man to death. Then he let's go.
"Oh and by the way," he says, "You look good in my jacket." Then he winks and walks out the door.
I smile and touch my lip.
