Overview

It is the April of last year, the new school semester is starting up, and many students are gathering up, some are happy to go back, some are not, and some students reunite again with their friends while many other students just walk alone on their paths toward the building.

The trees in this year have blossomed with more intensity, showing more branches and leafs that shows a more toned color on them, while the wind of spring shakes them up a little.

Makoto "Hey Yukano, don't go running a little, we are still early for the school to start up. sighs"

Mateus "Well, I mean that's the start of the new leaf at school for ya, slugger."

Yukano "Geez, you two. I should let you know that this year is an important day for me and my friends at the club."

Mateus, wearing a more formal red shirt and white jeans along with a fedora, walking alongside Makoto that was wearing his iconic scribbled jacket and modified school pants and hat, are walking up to the new university where Makoto's sister. Yukano Nanami or in other terms, Yukano Kirinou would be assisting to. By that time Makoto and Mateus have been partners and oath brothers for one year after their incident that brought them together, they have been working since then, gathering resources and enough money to help Yukano in making it able to get a place for her at the new university.

Yukano walks up to them.

With a light blue short hair, with many clips on her front right side of her head, moving a part of her front, leaving a gap and a wild bang on her left side, green eyes and a little pale skin on her. Her school uniform consisted by a brown jacket that has the school emblem on the left side, white and long sleeved shirt underneath it, a red and black skirt that is lengthened up to her knees while wearing black kneehighs and white shoes.

Her height is 16 cm smaller than Makoto, which is 1.94, while she is still reaching Mateus' height of 1.8. Her body is while not being more voluptuous, slimmer and fit, even boasting that someday she will be in better form to do breakdance than Mateus. In fact she intended to do many acrobat stunts, while Mateus studied those stunts in order to refine his agile fighting style.

Mateus "Yeah yeah, that occult club of yours, which I expect that you three do a ripoff of those false documentary horror movies, hahahaha."

Yukano "I'll show you Rosen-han, we are going to stumble upon a big mystery soon."

Makoto "Sister, you know that you better be working hard at school then, remember that…"

Yukano "I know, I know, you two busted your asses off for this, blood, sweat, tears and other fluids you spent to make this possible, and you know already that I can't thank you enough."

Yukano approaches Makoto and Mateus as she extends her arms, ready to give a big hug to her brother and his partner.

Mateus "Be careful girl, I'm carrying right now a fragile collectible cup right now."

Yukano "Sorry, but I have to make sure to send the message clear to you two, ever since Iku-chan disappeared, you two have been working so hard to just accomplish someone's selfish dream"

Iku-chan or more like Ikuro, Yukano's biological big brother, one year after the incident in which he also assisted with Makoto and Mateus, right after the day of the incident, Ikuro disappeared, not leaving any crucial kind of evidence that could tell if whether he is alright or even alive.

Since then, Makoto's path in life got more inclined to be of one person who hasn't assisted school even once and setting what he considered being a punk/gang/criminal hunter as only something that he wanted to leave behind after making sure that his family and friends were safe into a way of life where he can only belong.

As Mateus felt that he should not let any more unfortunate events to involve her and make sure to help Makoto and don't let him cross the line so careless, that if there is no option, they will cross it together.

Makoto "Pretty sure that he will have a disappointment face right now seeing you like this, that's why, when I say that you work hard, you better do it to wipe the disappointment in us."

Mateus "And hey, disappearance is just opening the possibility for your brother to be alive and come back to you, which is something to better keep in mind in the future."

The two freelancer's words were making sure that Yukano wouldn't let a tear and not let that memory to ruin her first day.

"Hey, Yuka-chan, where are you? We made it so far."

"Despite that crazy traffic that we encountered so far, hahaha."

Makoto was able to hear them so far thanks to his audible powers, as it seems that they encountered the rush hour in their district.

Makoto "Must've been your friends right, it seems they are just arriving here now."

Yukano "Oh right, hey Ren-chan, Mary-chan, I'm coming up!"

Mateus "Whoa whoa whoa, what's up with that slumped face of yours. Ain't letting you till you wipe out those little tears and show me a big-"

*thud*

Suddenly Yukano didn't have time for Mateus' nonsense, so she proceeded to do a cartwheel kick right on Mateus' forehead, knocking him down in the middle of his speech, as this also let Yukano to advance and started to run to the entrance of the building while waving back at Makoto.

Yukano "I'll see you later you two, good luck in your work."

Makoto "The same to you, Yuka."

Mateus "-smile."

Makoto "Hey partner stand up, that we have work to do and is not going to be finished with your crazy ass on the floor."

Mateus stands up, shrugging off the dust in his clothes.

Mateus "Well, she knows how to change his mood so frequently."

Makoto "So that means that there is nothing for us to worry then, as long as she and her friends don't get involved in one big mess."

Mateus "Come on partner, you should learn from her as well, just as I learned a new tech right now."

Makoto "What do you mean?"

Mateus approaches Makoto by his right side and puts his hand on his shoulder

Mateus "I mean, there is no need to be so stoic all the time, let yourself loose a little, when you're with your family or friends, it has been the few times I've seen you smile before."

Makoto "Come on, as if that lack of smile would become a detriment to my skills."

Mateus "Oh no, I'm sure that even drunk, you can still hand out some brutal beatings, but that's the problem. sighs, with that attitude of yours, no wonder you always think of the drama and battle that you miss out the small details that we humans enjoy in our free time."

Makoto "Ok, I get it, you are like the opposite of a parent from here you know. So I think that you have a plan for today then?"

Mateus "That's right, here take this."

Mateus hands out a small paper to Makoto, as Makoto looks it out it seems more like a VIP ticket for an amusement park.

Makoto "This is…"

Mateus "You are right, today we are celebrating the fact that your sister has managed to keep on her school life and hopefully some adrenaline from the roller coasters can give you more serotonin, the body substance of happiness."

Makoto "sighs Well you are right, we have a big achievement right here, but dude, don't think that I'm always like in a cold mood, of course I'm happy, but right now we are in a risky path."

Mateus "Dude as if that excuse wouldn't let you smile, here is something for you, showing a smile right now is proof that we are confident to walk on this path with no worry."

Makoto "If you say so, last man to arrive will pay more gifts for Yukano."

Mateus "Dude you have to raise the bet, I'll be glad to do that, but you know it'll be hilarious to see a banchou student carrying many fluff, so am up for it."

The two freelancers proceed to run off to the amusement park, only to enjoy the free time after the end of their battle.

[Location: Inside Makoto's mind]

Present day

Makoto's POV

...

Ow my body, how long has it been since I've ever went the extra mile while using my powers or been beating up as many enemies without a break?

The answer is really never, in fact, this is the first time that I actually tapped into the full capacity of it, let alone the fact that I just awakened it minutes ago, but I have to say that this new surge feels pretty awesome.

My eyes start to blink as my vision gets less and less blurrier, I manage to stand to where I am, where it seems that I was resting on a garden by the sound of my feet stepping on many flowers and bushes.

Makoto "Urgh…Well that was an experience I won't forget. yawns"

I stare at many parts of my surroundings and see that I'm on the same garden where that girl with the erhu was.

Satsuki. Rin Satsuki.

I see over my head that in the cloudy blue sky, green glowing lines that fly away doing many curves on their tracks on the sky, their glow is more notable as they fly through the clouds.

I stare back to my front and see the same stone path of before and walk through it.

Makoto "Rin-san! Where are you?"

As I keep walking on the stone path, reaching many areas of this world like fountains, resting roofed areas and little gardens with a bunch of flowers gathered there. I reach what seems like a big staircase on the cliff formed on this green plateau, a line of trees go around the staircase.

I climb through the white and polished staircase, I get to hear the erhu again now with another song that seems that I've heard it before, it is still barely audible, but if I focus enough, I might recognize it.

Makoto "Oh, I finally remember."

Is the closure for that song called 'The Gates of Delirium', even though is being played by an erhu, the sound of it isn't rusty or detuned, in fact it looks just like a violin cover of it.

Without wasting time, I pick up my pace and run along the staircase.

Well little me, found out about it later. That staircase is hella long, goddamn!

I finally make it to the top and reach to what seems like a Shinto temple with white, yellow and light-red colored decoration on it.

And right on the entrance of the shrine, I see her, Rin Satsuki.

But something is different on her, her clothes are not the same as I saw from her, she is no longer wearing a shrine maiden uniform.

She is wearing white pants while wearing what looks like a geta shoes but modified with a leather tip on the end of her feet, she is wearing also only a jacket, a red large one, that the back of it reaches up to her thighs, under the jacket she is not wearing any shirt leaving her bare chest out, but thankfully, thankfully she has bindings around the upper part of it, but still a little bit of cleavage is visible enough.

She still has the large ribbon on her blonde hair, now thinking about it, it looks like if Rin suddenly wanted to jump on the banchou style of dressing, well the look on her face doesn't seem to mind about it, as she has her eyes closing and she is focused only on keep playing with her instrument.

I go to the little stairs of the entrance and sit alongside her, where I let her finish her song while I contemplate the sky.

Just after the song ends, she opens her eyes and stares back at me.

Rin "I have to say, I'm glad to be with you or else I would have missed this joy for the ear."

Makoto "You say that you were asleep all the time I received this power but it looks like you developed a hobby with this music right?"

Rin "I mean after years of being with you, I recognized the good intentions you have within yourself, and all the hardship you have taken for your family. I should've at least possessed your body and write a note while you were sleeping. giggles"

Makoto "And also, how did you even find those clothes? You look somewhat weird."

Rin "Well, these ehm… in the blink of an eye, I was just wearing them already, maybe that is because I've decided to become one with you."

Makoto "So this power, what happened right there, was that the peak of this power?"

Rin stands up from the staircase and gazes at me with a serious look.

Rin "No, you can accomplish more and be able to perform more techniques with the power of wind and sound."

Makoto "Ok then, so while I'm here, I think that it is the time to talk about a lot right?"

Rin "Well then Kirin-kun, what do you want to know then?

There is so many questions that have been forming on my mind now, things about me, her and the time I have been using this power.

Makoto "So to clarify, you are basically a lost soul that came to inhabit inside me?"

Rin "nods At that time, when you and that person called Ikuro performed the séance, you two got super sensible to all kinds of supernatural phenomenon, that led me and possibly, the spirit inhabiting Ikuro to enter inside you and grant you that side effect which is your power."

Now that I think about it, after that, it seemed that I was the only one who got supernatural powers, Ikuro didn't seemed to show any kind of power. Maybe if Ikuro did indeed have something from the séance, chances for him to be alive are increased then.

Makoto "So to start to get acquainted first, who are you when you were alive?"

Rin "Well, you could guess that easily, I was actually a cleric or magic nurse if speaking generally, but if you want the long answer. I come from a family that had an innate perception of the supernatural, which later we got associated with a family of shrine maidens that had an unimaginable affinity with the power of fantasy."

Makoto "Maybe this is a wild guess, but I take it that it was the Hakurei family, then?"

Rin "Ding ding ding, that's right Kirin-kun, and with that it also should answer one thing."

Makoto "You also practiced danmaku then?"

Rin "Well, that knowledge wasn't supposed to awaken for you before, but maybe, unconsciously we opened a link that led to you getting a flawless victory on that living ice cream machine fairy, hahaha."

I couldn't contain it and I let out a little giggle.

Makoto "I shouldn't be laughing at it, neither you Rin. Also I want to talk more about you and this stuff."

Rin nods in an apology expression.

But if it is thanks to Rin that I got what looked like a beginner's luck, is actually an increase of my senses, so the fact that I didn't flinch from that shot at the old shrine days ago, must have been Satsuki's thing as well.

Makoto "So that awakening also involves an increase to my physical status? Just wondering."

Rin "Oh about that day, well it was a matter of life and death so I had to awake the link between us, that's the spark that has ignited all of this."

Makoto "So that confirms it then, ok, what else to ask... hmm… why did you decided to close yourself from me even though I'm the one you decided to possess."

Rin "Maybe it is a stupid reason why I did that from the start, now that I think of it, it was a pretty childish and selfish thing to do to you. The reason is that when I saw you days after that séance and you were using the powers granted only to harm others and bring fear to others, I was shocked by it, I thought that I could return to someone who lived in peace as I would have that peace."

Makoto "That's a pretty stupid thing to do, you should know that those people were way more despicable than me and more innocent people would have suffered."

Rin "You are right, I could feel not see nor hear that you were using those powers for a good intentions but I've already closed myself and decided to slumber till the end of your life."

Makoto "Could've you just possess me right?"

Rin "The séance that you and your brother did couldn't let me do that, as that ritual's purpose is to extract the supernatural energy from the lost soul, leaving that lost soul serve as a battery for the vessel's powers."

Makoto "So the only option left for you, is to decrease, figuratively speaking, the energy drawn from the battery."

Rin nods silently.

Rin "I'm really sorry, it was until what happened two years ago that I snapped and thanks to you and that Mateus guy that I knew the goodwill in your actions."

Makoto "So at that time, why didn't you showed yourself to me?"

Rin "I thought that you would be angry at me and seeing that with your goal was accomplished, I feared that you would vanish me again to the nothingness of the afterlife."

Rin's sad expression increases as I see that her eyes are getting wet.

Rin "I didn't wanted to be left alone again, so it was for the best to remain with you and serve as my battery."

Okay, I had enough, I stand up from the staircase, I approach Rin…

*slap*

Rin "Hnng…"

Makoto "You had it pretty rough isn't it, when you were alive right? Why would I ever hate you, if not for you specifically, I would messed up in that old shrine and at the danmaku duel, let alone all this time that I've been using this power."

Rin "But… sobs It was a pretty stupid thing that I did."

Makoto "Guess what? I don't give a damn. And you know, is not like I ever needed the full extent of this power, as well right now, I can count on Mateus and his ethereal magic."

Rin "I know as well, I know that I mistook you as some dangerous man and the fact that I was cursed to follow a man like that, I had time to reflect upon that but I don't know why I'm having these sad feeling, sobs."

Being that her had connections with Reimu's family, I wonder, could she be partners along with Reimu and Marisa if she were alive?

Makoto "Since you might be from Gensokyo, maybe with what happened recently, you are wondering of what would've been, right?

Rin "Yeah, sobs just at the moment you two met with Reimu, at that moment, I happened to remember all those memories, you probably wouldn't noticed but I was struck at my heart with an inmense joy that you could imagine. I get to see my former friend, whose family really supported mine in the past. sobs,To live in that world that I called my home once."

Rin's face is starting to form a trail of tears that runs down on her cheeks.

I guess that clears it all, I approach Rin and I gave her one hug of immense relief.

Rin "Ah… Makoto."

I wrap around her tightly.

Makoto "Is okay Rin, is okay, if you need it, you can stain my jacket all you want with your tears."

Rin puts her arms on my back accepting the hug and sticking with me tightly. Continuous and silent sobs comes out of Rin as I feel in my chest her tears wiping off on my jacket.

Rin "Please let me go."

Makoto "What?"

Rin "Now, there is much to do right? I can't let those tears hold us down anymore, right now is the perfect time for us to become one in body and soul, be more united, let our bond link be stronger than ever. Kirin-kun"

Makoto "Couldn't agree more."

I let go off Rin, as I see that her face is clear of tears and she raises her head to meet my eyes, while she tries to give a smile yet she still has those humid eyes.

Rin "Well then, to make it official. Are you my master?"

I nod in response, probably that is some kind of joke.

Rin "Will you, Makoto Kirinou, to accept and establish this link between the supernatural forces of the world? Knowing well that the path ahead of you won't have mercy upon you."

Makoto "I accept it."

Rin "Will you, Makoto Kirinou, to put your trust, friendship and loyalty to me? Letting our bond be permanent till the end of your life."

Makoto "You have my word."

Rin "With nothing more to say, you can kiss the bride."

Makoto "I do"

Makoto "Wait what?"

Suddenly, Rin gets closer to my face and kisses my left cheek as she wraps her hands around my neck.

Rin "Hahahahaha, I can't believe that really worked, no wonder you are Mateus' punch bag for teasing jokes giggles."

Okay, I'll let it slide, but I have to reminder myself to beat myself due to falling for that shit.

Rin "Oh right, before we go off, can you hand me that staff?

Makoto "Okay."

I give her the new forged staff as she askes. Rin makes the staff float in a green-ish blue aura.

*sizzle* *sizzle*!

Suddenly, the steel of the staff starts to glow in a red hot light, as it suddenly starts to melt into a gray metallic sphere. Well sucks for me, and for Kogasa as well.

*vwhoom*

A huge gust of wind is blowing around the sphere, Rin's eyes are closed as she is only focusing on the melted staff.

The wind starts fade away as the sphere is now taking a linear shape like a pipe. The aura enveloping it changes to a deep blue color and lets my see clearly the new design of the weapon.

The staff returns to have a circular shape all the way to the length, reaching one meter, as well as the barely green spiral, while the diameter of one inch fits perfectly into one hand of mine on the edges it seems there is a hole leaving a hollow space on the inside of the staff that takes 2/3 radius of the total area.

The aura dissipates and shows the completed product, the staff now looks more polished, sturdy and lighter.

Rin "Makoto Kirinou, right here, right now, I bestow upon you a weapon perfect for someone with abilities like you, this weapon is now imbued with sufficient supernatural energy, reinforcing this staff to unreal levels, not even compared to a blacksmith's masterpiece, will you accept it?"

You know my answer, Rin. Without the need to respond with words, I just grab the new weapon and feel that it really fits perfectly in my hand, I feel more capable to manage its movements, that a hit with this at full throttle of strength can be really powerful.

Time to do the helicopter. I twirl the staff from the center, it easily helps me lifting myself from the ground as currents of wind surround me.

Makoto "HAAAIYAAAH"

*crash*

I hit the ground with the tip of it releasing a blast of wind. Feeling now the power of this, I nod to Rin.

Rin "Okay then, now you are the chosen one to use: The Kirin's Tubular Bell."

Tubular Bell hm? With curiosity at hand, I swing the weapon to the opposite direction in front of Rin. Let's think of a song to express some achievement.

*RPG fanfare*

As expected, it makes an almost perfect replicate of the sound.

Makoto "I can't say with words alone, how thankful I am now Rin."

Rin "Wait, there is another function for this weapon."

Makoto "What is it?"

*clink* *shink*

Suddenly, the staff starts to bend one of the edges and it wraps itself from the inside, like when one tries to shove a flexible rubber tube of those pencils to the inside of it.

As the size of one side of the staff gets more bigger while the side that I'm handling remains the same.

As it finishes to bend itself, the length of the weapon now is of exactly half of the original staff.

Seeing it right now, it looks that the staff transformed into a baseball bat, with a handle of 15 centimeters followed by a conic size 5 centimeter middle and finishing with 30 centimeters of length for the impact area and the tip being of one and half inch and the hollow inside of the bat entirely is more smaller.

Surprisingly, I don't feel neither an increase of weight or decrease, it still feels the same in maneuver and speed. In fact to test it out, I perform the trick of the nunchaku bat. The results of its performance are better than before. It almost feels that I'm a master when it comes to combat with bat and staff weapons.

Makoto "Well, that's a well surprise and all that, but I have to ask, can it return to its-"

*clink* *shink*

Before I finish the question, the bat returns to its staff form. Well guess that with just a quick thought, it can switch from bat to staff.

Makoto "Woah"

Rin "Oh wait there is more!"

Makoto "More!?"

Rin "Yeah, you see, since we are going to use danmaku sometimes, let me give you a spellcard as a gift, a combination of my Wind Sign and Flower Sign."

Rin makes appear from her hands, extended to the sides, two green cards that spin around themselves, their color starts to fade away as I see a green line of energy that it changes to blue at the top of Rin's head, at that spot a blue card starts to appear, like a scarf being woven at a turbo speed. As time passes the two cards vanishes into dust as the new blue card appears more clearly.

Rin steps back from it, as the card starts to spin around and falling slowly. I grab the card in midair and see the new spellcard

[Nature Essence "War Cry of the Steely Forest"]

I don't summon it at the moment, I'll show it like a surprise attack and an ace on my sleeve.

I hug Rin again for a second long as response.

Rin "Don't worry about it Kirin-kun, I should be the one thanking you."

Makoto "Rin, all of these is like going the extra mile for a birthday gift, how could I not feel thankful for these."

Rin "Guess what? All of these gifts that I gave you aren't still enough to cover the gift that you gave me."

Feeling a little confused I ask her.

Makoto "What gift?"

Rin suddenly jumps to me and gives me a hug, wrapping her hands around, she leans to my left ear, trying to whisper her words.

Rin "The gift that you gave me… Is the gift of being able to wander again in the human world, the gift of being able to experience more moments in life again, and the gift of having a new friend that I can trust in. The gift of be alive again."

At that moment, it really hit me, which in fact both of us needed each other, as I needed this power to protect, she wanted to just be around the world again, even if she has to be attached to a thug like me, she would be glad.

Makoto "Sorry Rin, but I have to go now, I need to awake."

Rin "No problem, if you want to hang around with me, just call to me and I will pull your consciousness into this world."

Makoto "Wait, I have an idea, can you speak through me?"

Rin "Well, my voice was sometimes heard whenever you replicated a female voice. Why?"

Say no more then, I pulled Rin's hand towards me and we start to run toward the door that has an exit sign right at one wall that appeared at the left side of the shrine gate.

Rin "Wait, what are you doing Kirin-kun?

Makoto "Well then, I think it's time to pay to your friend a deserved homecoming."

Rin "Okay then, Reimu, Marisa, everyone wait for me!"

The door opens showing a portal that looks like we can dive full throttle at it. Without anything to waste here we jump.

Rin/Makoto "WOOOHOOO!"

[Location: Scarlet Devil City, inside a vacant room-house]

Mateus' POV

Well, there is so much coming up.

Many things are happening right now as well many people is coming back.

Sure is a big surprise that I have reunited with Master Okazaki and her company, I owe them a lot for sure.

Just after everything in that village was finished, we were transported instantly to the Hakurei Shrine, where staff from the SDC were waiting for us, as well they had a nurse tending to Makoto, which he came up unconscious as well the other people that got trapped on the plant, most importantly that little blonde youkai girl (which I believe that must be Rumia) that had many wounds of combat.

So I can speculate that the worst case happened and Makoto gave it his all against this girl. It has been one day after this and Makoto is still in recovery, he is taken care here in one 'room-building' of the SDC by Reisen and her master as well.

Since then, I told Master and her company to stay still in a vacant room of this place that I managed to pay for staying in one day.

Taking fact that other two persons who are apparently called Renko and Maribel are also here and I encountered for a little time while I was searching for a vacant building, which if I remember correctly, Makoto's sister used to have friends were she called them by Ren and Mary, not that I had much time to ask them about if whether they are or not the same persons.

I better stop having a cynical attitude and taking with no surprise that maybe Yukano is also here, at this point almost every people that we are acquainted in Earth have also come in contact with Gensokyo somehow. Which that thought would lead me as well with the fact that Yukano has learned about supernatural powers or something.

It all keeps piling up and we're diving into something way deeper than a rabbit's hole.

Instead of getting worried, I get out of the room and walk toward the street corridor to the room where Makoto is resting up, I think that this should be enough time of resting for him.

I let out a sigh and I increase my pace till I reach the room.

"Are you sure is okay for me to be here, right now? I can appear later, Kirin-kun."

Makoto "Come on, there is no need for that, I can stand up already, so I have no problem for any rough movement."

"Well then, show it to me then."

What was or more like, who was that person? I never saw someone enter right in front of me, maybe is one of here. Considering that we met nothing but girls in this world…

No. No, scratch that Mateus, I have to remember that following that type of reasoning never makes any kind of profit, I knock at the door.

Mateus "Yo, It's me, ya boy Mateus."

Makoto "Oh, good timing, you can enter right now, partner."

Without passing more seconds, I phase through the door, I see that Makoto is already standing up and wearing again his usual attire. But I don't remember his hair wicks to be bluer, I remember them being more compatible with his natural black hair.

Makoto "Hey, good to see you, Mateus. Looks that I lose any bet, right?"

Mateus "Fortunately, we didn't and I won't ever do pointless bets, knowing the outcome, instead of that I want to say that you went for all kinds of extra miles isn't it? Was it a close to the edge experience?"

Makoto "Well, there was times were I get up, I get down, but in the end, it all became too easy thanks for one person that I want you to meet right now."

Mateus "Huh! What do you mean or who is this person exactly?"

Makoto lets out a deep breath as he closes his eyes and sits back in one chair that is near to the bed.

Rin "Hello Mateus Rosen, I'm Rin Satsuki, finally we meet each other, hehe."

Wow.

That's sure is a replicated female voice, talk about a maximized level skill you have right now.

Mateus "Obviously no, I mean finding the disc was in itself a jackpot chance, let alone finding it without any errors on the album."

Wait don't tell me.

Makoto "Well hit it Rin."

*music plays*

From Makoto's mouth, music comes out but not as if that were a great beatbox or acapella try, like actually there is a violin inside Makoto, but wait, is he trying to say that there is another soul that is playing that.

Mateus "Well your sound powers really is something amazing."

But, maybe, what if Makoto is being true about it?

After all, Makoto's sound powers doesn't project necessarily from himself, he can produce a sound at a considerable distance and that female voice, it sounded so clear as if there is actually another person with us. That person could actually be the source for Makoto's powers.

Makoto "What is it not working?"

Mateus "Hey, you two, there is no need to do that already. I'll decide to believe in both of you soo~o, hello Rin Rin, I think you know who I am if you have been with Makoto ever since."

*music stops*

Makoto suddenly stops playing the music and extends his right hand to me and bending himself a little to the front while making a cute expression with his left hand and face. Actually this is kind of unnerving seeing a thug acting moe.

Now that's a bizarre fantasy.

Rin "Yay! Glad to meet you too."

Mateus "Well then, shall we speak then, I think both of us have so much to say."

Just after Makoto got his stuff back from the room where he was resting, we went to the near desert parlor we could find and ordered liters of ice cream and went to one of the streets that leads to the 2nd floor and from there to one rooftop.

In the meantime, Rin would suddenly take over Makoto's mouth and speak and be awe at the huge development and extravagant look of the SDC, let alone the fact that she wanted to look at every shop that we could pass by.

Finally reaching the rooftop, Makoto told me about Rin, that she is indeed the lost soul that gave him his manipulation of wind and sound, that she decided to close herself due to be attached forever to who seemed at first as a young teen that profited from the violence upon others, but with time and after several events (including as well our encounter from two years ago and so on) she opened up more to us.

As well she told us that she is from Gensokyo which explains why Makoto is apparently really good at Danmaku, she also told us about how her family of generally speaking white mages were associated with the Hakurei family.

After she told us her story, we told and show her how is Gensokyo right now as she told us how it looked just like a feudal Japanese fantasy land. One thing for sure is that we told her that this is only the human village, the lake near the SDC, the magic forest and the Hakurei shrine alone, we haven't gone yet to the other places of this world as we need to find a way to arrive at the other islands.

Let that sink in. Yeah, we are also in shock. And also, I think this is good that we can have someone telling us about the surroundings and customs of here.

And with that explained, it was my turn to explain my side of it.

That first, minutes after the green flame problem, I had an encounter with someone who seemed to know about Master but she acted weirdly, as if I wasn't a nuisance at all, after that I returned to the village to see that everything was alright as well that the tengu squad were in fine condition but that Makoto and Rumia were pretty injured and unconscious so Makoto had to take one day of recovery and sleep.

As well I told him that I reunited with Master, after 5 years ever since our last reunion, and with her there were also her right hand, Chiyuri and another member of the guild. As well that I encountered two girls that are also from the Earth, Renko Usami and Maribel Hearn which they seemed to recognize me here.

About those two, it didn't take long for Makoto to connect the dots.

Makoto "Do you think that they would be the friends of that club that my sister was in as well?"

Mateus "Well, the names are a coincidence that's for sure. I didn't had the time to ask them as they were excited to visit this city."

Makoto "Do you think they are my sister's friends?"

Mateus "I don't remember their faces as well they were hurrying up to go to another place."

Makoto "So you didn't have time to ask them? That's what are you getting at."

Mateus "nods, But if that were true, well… prepare for a huge surprise, mate."

Makoto "Please don't joke about that, I don't want that joke of everyone suddenly having supernatural powers, you know I don't want her to meet the same fate as Iku-. "

I slap him for such nonsensical statement.

Mateus "Mate, if there is something you gotta know about your sister is that she knows when to be careful and don't dive too deep in problems."

Rin "Come on Kirin-kun, after all, you should know her after all 'brother', so you two will be there for her if something happens, right?"

Mateus "High five Rin-Rin!"

*high five*

Rin is already becoming a good friend for me.

Makoto "Now that I think about it, what would be the miraculous odds for that to be true?"

Mateus "But who knows, it'll be fun knowing how did she even knew about this world."

*door opens*

Reimu "So this where you are, and it looks like you have recovered pretty well Makoto."

Marisa "Hello Mako-kun and Rosen-san."

Reisen "Well, looks like it won't be necessary for another dose of medicine."

We turn around and see that Reimu, Alice, Marisa and Reisen. They look pretty relieved to see us already, and who not, everything has been solved pretty quickly.

Marisa "For real ze, I owe you one for making it there on time and prevented this mess to turn into a really nasty thing, ze. Isn't that right Alice?"

Alice "Well, ehm… how dare you two go away!? I was worried that maybe you didn't spend the night there or even something happened to you two in the meantime."

Mateus "Well there is no need to worry, at least one of the dolls should have gave you the note we left at the guest room."

Alice "gasps"

Makoto "That's right, but we are really sorry Alice, the truth is that I eavesdropped on you when you arrived at home."

Mateus "Well more likely, your dolls woke us up, thinking that we would be so worried if something happens at our home world."

Alice "So you heard then? I'm feeling suddenly embarrassed."

Marisa "You really think so? If it weren't for them, we would be defeated after being powerless due to that green flame, ze."

Reimu "You are right Marisa, I feel that we should thank to you two for that, but there is something that I want to hear at least. How did you managed to get back to your world? Even if you arrived at the port, the possibility of taking a ship would be even more nonsensical than the nonsensical things that I'm used to deal with."

Makoto "…"

Mateus "…"

Well, the problem here is that we don't want to get a certain god's curse so better come up with something.

If I try to say that we somehow entered through her shrine, I might slip up but is worth a try.

Mateus "Well, we went to your shrine. Keine has told us that the main and secret entrance lies on the Hakurei Shrine."

Reimu "Well then, so explain then how did you managed to get slip by Aunn-san?"

Okay, we don't know that person, that's for sure, but I'll assume that it might be like a shrine guardian and girl by the way.

Makoto "Well, why bother going all tactical espionage when we can do this."

Makoto proceeds to take big and long steps stomping on the ground, but thanks to his sound powers, there is no sound at all.

As well I take opportunity while they are focusing on Makoto to phase on the floor and slid myself to appear right behind them.

Mateus "And we also have this -."

"BOOO!"

The girls gets startled while turning back to me, but it seems their expression looks more shocking, I turn my back to see who is.

And suddenly Kogasa.

Mateus "Well well, look who we have here, how long were you hiding here?"

Kogasa "I just entered and no one paid attention to me on the floor so~o, how about I take this as a chance for a surprising entrance."

Reimu "Do another surprising entrance and I'll let Remilia take you as a new performer here."

Kogasa "Oh no, please shrine maiden, it just that I've woke up in a pretty good mood. I promise to not do it."

Mateus "Well as I said, we just sneaked with this tools on the entrance and waited."

Reimu "Waited for what, exactly?"

Alice "Oh! Could it be that you waited for Marisa to exit and enter through?"

Reimu "…"

Gotcha! Thanks Alice, you just made this perjury be solid.

Marisa "Then that means…"

Makoto "Exactly, despite how rushed that idea was, we still made it out."

Reimu "If that really happened, that means that you had little time to do all that, could I really believe that to be possible?"

Makoto "Well, better thank Mateus, he is something special when it comes to plans."

Mateus "Anyway, you could take it with a grain of salt or with the benefit of the doubt, but in the end, that situation got solved nice."

Kogasa "Oh by the way Makoto-san, why do you have that pipe? What happened to the weapon I arrange for you?"

Makoto "Well you are seeing it right now, is just that it transformed to a weapon special for my powers."

Mateus "Well this staff still has that green spiral paint all the way around it, so it this is your staff, dear Karakase Blacksmith.

Reisen "But how did it happen anyway."

Well it's time for Rin-Rin to come up to meet everyone.

Makoto "Excuse me for a moment, I need to talk with my mind a bit."

It doesn't look at plain sight but seems that Makoto's inner kindness has some stage fright.

Mateus "Well, anyway, how is the tengu squad and Momiji doing?"

Reimu "They are already recovered and ready to continue with their work at the Youkai Mountain, but they said that the captain wants to thank you two."

Mateus "What about Rumia?"

Reimu "Well, I asked Sanae to be with her around, she is still asleep from her unleashed powers."

Mateus "Does she really have that much power within herself?"

Marisa "Well, all that has a pretty long story to tell about and I bet you two want to rest and return to the Outside World, right?

Mateus "Well not really, my friends and Master from Earth are here after all, so I better pay them a visit. Come on Makoto, we can have a better chance later."

Rin "No, I'm ready."

Marisa "Huh. Who's that now?"

Suddenly, all the girls gets surprised by another female voice as they look around who is it.

But suddenly Makoto walks up to them with his hands hold together on his back.

I guess that's Rin taking control of Makoto's body, according to Rin, she can't possess Makoto unless he gives consent about it or he gets unconscious. Suddenly the female voice comes out in the same time Makoto moves his mouth as he is speaking.

Rin "Hello Reimu, Marisa and you girls, you may not remember me but…I'm back at home again."

Reisen "Wait, is it a soul taking over Makoto's body."

Kogasa "Be careful, just in case everyone."

Reimu "No everyone, wait a moment."

Reimu raised her right hand high enough to calm down the girls, after some seconds of deep silence and remembering, she approached Makoto with a startled and blushed expression.

Reimu "That voice, it has been years but I remember that voice, it can't be, but…Rin, is it really you."

Marisa "Huh! You mean Rin as in Satsuki Rin, ze?"

Rin "Well, I was expecting for everyone to not remember my name but guess that I should be more optimistic then, but it is I Ma-ki, Reimu onee-san, I'm Rin indeed, you can believe that."

Marisa "'Ma-ki' huh… No way, but it is really you."

Reimu "Rin-san, don't think of that, ever since you disappeared from our lives, I always had in my mind that someday you would return, don't ever think that you were forgotten 'cause that's a harsh lie."

Rin "Don't worry Makoto, I have cried enough before, I have to step forward and hug you two!"

Suddenly Makoto or Rin in this case (god this will be a regular thing) rushes at Reimu and Marisa with open arms and traps them into a big bear hug that instead of being heartwarming is more heartwrenching (in the physical sense of the word that is).

Reimu "I know Rin… coughs it is good to see you."

Marisa "Don't coughs worry Rin but I'll prefer to be you hugging us instead of; coughs; some thug."

Rin "Oh sorry sorry."

Reimu/Marisa "breathes"

Well as realistic as it seems, this was the kind of reunion that I was expecting. I couldn't help it but see this situation made me chuckle a bit which then Alice broke out in laughter followed by Reisen and Kogasa and then everyone was laughing.

Mateus "sighs Give me a break, anyway ladies, we are off then, I don't want to keep my Master and company waiting enough in a vacant room."

Reimu "Oh really, but I was hoping for Makoto and Rin spend time with us."

Makoto "Well, I can see you later partner, as well that's a matter that only concerns you, so better hurry then."

I nod and while running I stare back and wave my hand at everyone.

Reimu "Hey look out for-"

*phase*

Well with that checked on my imaginary to-do list, now I head back to the vacant room-building.

*door open*

Chiyuri waves at me back, as Master Okazaki is drinking from her tea and eating her usual strawberry shortcake (no matter where she is, she always pulls out a strawberry food out of nowhere) as Ruukoto, a robot maid is sitting beside her, it seems that these is a new model as I remember Ruukoto (Ruukoto Mark 3) wearing a more Victorian styled maid outfit wearing an elegant long hair style, now this Ruukoto Mark 4 has a wild short hair and wearing a white full butler outfit.

And the other member that is far of the center, staring at the outside of the window looking at the sky is a member who I worked with 2 years before meeting Makoto. Another male member of Okazaki's group with magic potential.

Gustav d'Alistel.

A man born from France, with 25 years old beating my age by 3, a recent member that awakened his powers six years ago, he received his powers by being saved by Master in one accident that happened in his homeland, which it is one of the many countries that suffered most by the 21st Century Apocalypse, at this day, France is recovering well, as well other countries around it.

He has purple-red hair swiped to the back, leaving at the back of his head many little spikes, light purple eyes, 10 centimeters below Makoto if I'm sure of that, he seems to wear his purple shirt as well along with a black sleeveless jacket, a white tie, black shoes and black jeans.

Chiyuri "Oh Mateus, you are back how are you?"

Mateus "Well there is nothing to worry about, Makoto has recovered greatly and he is now with the people of here."

Ruukoto "Master Mateus, shall I serve something to drink?"

Mateus "How considerate Ruko but I'm okay already."

Gustav "To think that I'll be going to another world."

Mateus "Pretty impressive right, also you are the only one who hasn't greeted me yet."

Chiyuri "He is right, you should at least hug your former colleague."

Gustav "Ok alright then, sighs seems that you are sticking to your wild path isn't it Mateus?"

Gustav gets away from the window and goes toward me, we stretch our right hands together.

Mateus "Is not like me and Makoto could later get put into a trouble that has youkai involved, even I can think in a realistic way sometimes."

Chiyuri "Is that a surprise to hear, I bet you are already making a plan for around here."

Mateus "Not exactly, the people around here have been testing us to new things that if being honest, I still need practice."

Yumemi "So is back to be a lively atmosphere around us. giggle"

Mateus "I think that would be the first thought when I think how are you doing isn't not?"

Yumemi "Well, thing is that aside from spells demonstrations, it almost feels like a library, what's more, I was planning to expand some book collections in my studio but I risk building a library instead."

Mateus "Don't tell me, hasn't Chiyuri experienced a 'gun malfunction' or I bet that a 'Days without Chiyuri shenanigans' counter is still going, hahaha."

Chiyuri "Say that again, you freelancer, I'm telling you that I have done and made around 10 perfect models to test upon you."

Yumemi "Oh you mean this one? I thought that you found a hair dryer and fixed it."

Yumemi takes out from one of the free chairs what looks like a hair dryer with a bunch of cables and a silencer attached, as well the handler replaced with a handgun one.

Chiyuri "Whaa~aat? But it is supposed to deal devastating… wind jets…"

Gustav "At least I expected that with Master using it, she would be showing a prominent afro, so I think that your ability has increased, dame Chiyuri."

Chiyuri "Not you too Gus-chan."

Yumemi "Don't worry Chiyuri, you can have ten stars for each of your models, that if you are curious Mateus, they really work."

Mateus "Cool. Glad to see that you have been in business since then, so Master I want to ask you."

Yumemi "Go on."

Mateus "What brought you all here or more likely, how you knew that I was in that village at the night when those goons were blasting green flame everywhere?"

Yumemi "Well, we know these two or three possible members that detected some supernatural anomaly which was the green flame, those three people were concerned about it, since they were trying to perform a ritual or some sort."

Mateus "So in a sense, they asked you to do something."

Gustav "It is a mess after all, we don't want the public to be so startled and panicking around, so we had to come, but it seems that you and your other freelancer partner came first than us."

Yumemi "With only that, it was enough reason to come there and assume that you were there. As well it seems that you and Makoto helped us in getting a sample of that green flame."

Mateus "Wait what?"

Chiyuri "I'm sorry, I thought that you wouldn't be offended if I told her about it."

Mateus "There's no problem with that, I bet that Makoto and I would be reuniting with you so this makes it faster."

Gustav "I bet that you are still with the idea of accomplishing that dream by your own hands, right?"

Mateus "Damn right you are, I can't risk having my partners be on to that, I alone shall be the one to do it."

Even though Chiyuri has a gloomy expression towards me and Gustav being indifferent about it, Master seems a bit pleased with my answer.

Yumemi "I'm sorry that those unfortunate events had to be when you were around it at that time."

Mateus "Don't fret about it, I'm the one who needs to deal with it, so what are you going to do then."

Yumemi "Knowing that you know about Gensokyo as well and I bet that you are familiar of that danmaku thing, I-."

*door slams*

We all turn back to notice that Reimu entered by opening the door with a slam, she seems to have a worried expression."

Reimu "Rosen, you have to come with me right now."

Mateus "Wait what happened?"

Reimu "breathes There's no time to talk about it, they will explain the situation better, just come with me."

Yumemi "If there is something more to deal with, then don't fret about it, my student and go, we'll talk later."

Ruukoto "Shall I accompany you Master Mateus?"

Mateus "No, stay with Master Okazaki, that's an order."

Ruukoto nods, while I stare at Chiyuri and Gustav, they also nod as well.

Reimu "…"

Mateus "Alright Reimu, let's go."

I keep walking with Reimu till we stop at one of the main corridors, right there are Makoto, Marisa, Reisen and Kogasa standing in a line, with the Yama herself, Shikieiki there and two officers. The bystanders surround them with scared and nervous expressions on their faces, mumbling about the situation.

I rush there, phasing some of the bystanders without them noticing and I get right in the center where everyone is.

Mateus "Hey Makoto, everyone, what is going on here?"

Makoto "One thing for sure is that we're into trouble."

Marisa "Well, we were walking and thinking in going to sing on a karaoke but we met with the judge and her servants… I mean subordinates and told us to stay still and find you."

Mateus "So she has stayed silent and watching you over while Reimu was looking for me?"

Reisen nods.

Kogasa "But I don't know why do I have to be here as well? I haven't done anything, if my memory serves, that has been illegal or offensive."

Shikieiki "Well, to answer your question, that would be that you have been with the suspects in these past 2 days for many time each."

!

What did she say? Suspects!?

Mateus "Wait what's that supposed to mean?"

Makoto "If it is about not intervening into that trouble, we are deeply sorry about it, but I think that Reimu and company here would be able to tell you that we were a big help right there."

Shikieiki "Please calm down, Mr. Kirinou, I recommend that you two refrain from speaking till we go to a more suitable place around here."

Mateus "Makoto, let's obey for a second, we are getting out of this clear, I bet it."

Makoto "Work rule #4: Put a smile at the danger and time of the job. Right?"

Mateus "Beep, that's rule #6, but you get the point, also Shiki, I want to ask you this?"

Shikieiki "Didn't Komachi tell you to always address at me as Yama when I'm at work?"

Mateus "What are we suspect for? Yama."

Shikieiki "Suspicion for espionage, smuggling and kidnapping."

Author's notes:

So right off the bat, when the perspective of the story changes to Makoto, Rin may also talk through Makoto's mind in parenthesis so this shall also be in case like Satori for example reads someone's mind. As well in this chapter, about how the relation between Rin and Makoto works, let's say that Rin can't possess Makoto's body unless he gives complete permision or he gets unconscious.

About the flashback segment that appeared or more importantly the third person narrative, that narrative will be only showcased in cases of flashbacks, details of a battle or telling in a more detailed way the background of some character. The POV narrative will still be the main drive of the story and it won't be reduced to a minimal relevance.

As for Okazaki and her fellow 'students' are going to be included as well in the story, even though Gustav (which he is a french person) is another OC, it won't be a self-insert or a blank character, I hope that it doesn't trouble anyone.

Woo! I hope everyone enjoyed their vacations doing... well I dunno... anything.

As for the next chapter, I'm already working like around half of it so look forward.
