Chapter 10: Going Overboard

Galen stayed at the guild hall as Natsu and Lucy went to Mount Hakobe to see what happened to Macao. Since they were going to a remote mountain top Galen felt like Natsu wouldn't cause too much trouble so he let him go with Lucy and Happy in toe. While they were out, Galen practiced levitation while standing up. To say that this made him stand out and look a bit intimidating was an understatement. No one was in a panic, but they did point and shout at Galen in shock.

Galen also had a little contest with Cana to determine who could predict the future more accurately. Cana laughed at Galen when he said that he had the ability to see into the future, but decided to challenge him so she could make fun of him when she beat him senseless at it. To Cana's and everyone else's bewilderment, Galen predictions were the same as Cana's and Galen went first every time when they asked a specific fortune to be determined.

"Just how many things can Galen do?!" they all thought since this was the first time Galen showcased his foresight ability.

While it is true that Galen is proficient in many different skills and abilities, he lacks the use of a vast array of different powers from his galaxy, though most of those powers require specializing in specific concepts that Galen has not been exposed to yet.

Cana:" Ok Mr. Genius who plays it off as magic! Can you tell us what happens with Natsu and Lucy, and what happened to Macao?!" she grumbles.

Galen closes his eyes as he casts his sight to Natsu, Lucy, and Macao. Galen sees Natsu and Lucy encountering a Vulcan who is revealed to be Macao who was possessed by one after defeating 19 of them beforehand.

Galen:" Natsu and Lucy defeat a Vulcan who turns out to be a possessed Macao after he managed to defeat 19 of them beforehand."

Cana:" that seemed oddly specific. We will wait and see if your "prediction" turns out to be true or not."

Galen knew he could earn some money by making a bet with this, but felt that was not a very nice thing to do to a friend of his, so he decided to not destroy Cana's bank account.

Sometime later:

Natsu, Lucy, Happy, and a bandaged Macao make it to the guild hall. Natsu and Lucy recount what happened when Cana asked them. Cana cried faux tears since she was made to look like an idiot, but admitted that Galen did indeed had an ability of foresight.

Lucy went to her apartment and Natsu took a job request off the board and tailed Lucy with Happy following close behind him.

Levy was disappointed that the book burning job was taken by Natsu.

Galen:" Don't worry, it's for the best that you don't waste your time on that one." He said as he patted her on the shoulder.

Galen already knew that the contractor was actually not all that rich to begin with.

Sometime later:

Natsu, Lucy, Happy, and Grey entered back into the guild hall. Things are at their normal commotion with Natsu and Grey needlessly fighting again. Loke tries to hit on Lucy when he finally notices the keys on her belt.

Loke:" You're not a celestial wizard are you!?" he says with fear.

Happy:" Yeah shes got cows and crabs and stuff." Happy adds with a fish in his mouth.

Loke:" Curse you fate! Why must you toy with me so!? I'm sorry but and I can't be together my dear!" He cries as he runs out the door.

Galen:" He'll be back shortly." He mentioned to anyone who could hear him.

In the middle of everyone laughing at Natsu and Grey's fighting, Loke comes running back into the guild hall with a loud opening of the doors.

Loke:" I've got bad news! It's Erza! She's on her way here!"

Everyone in the guild except Mira, Lucy, and Galen stiffen up in fright at the news. Galen actually seemed to get more talkative and lively at the news. Natsu and Grey immediately take seats next to Galen and pretend they were in the middle of a friendly chat with each other.

Galen:" You know if you two just stopped acting like children all the time she wouldn't be so hard on you." He dead pans.

Galen notices Lucy's panic as she reads a little too much into the guild's current expressions, and calls her and motions with her to sit next to him as he stares at Natsu to give Lucy some room. Lucy takes the seat to Galen's right and turns the chair around so she could see Erza enter.

Erza enters the guild hall in her casual armor and a massive horn on her shoulders. She places the decorated horn on the floor.

Erza:" I have returned. Where is master Makarov?"

Lucy:" Wow she's pretty"

Galen:" I agree Lucy."

Mira:" Welcome back Erza. The master is at a conference right now."

Erza:" I see."

"So umm… What's that humongous thing you got there?" a random guild member asks.

Erza:" It's the horn of a monster that I defeated. The locals were so thankful that they decorated it and gave it to me as a souvenir. Do you have a problem with it?" She asks threateningly.

"No not at all!" two members answer nervously back.

Lucy:" She's not like anything I imagined."

Galen:" She is confident and very devoted to strength, loyalty, honor, and self-image. She can be bossy at times, but I don't mind it." he mutters to Lucy.

Erza began to tear into the guild members one at a time as she pointed out their actions that she wanted them to change. She sounded quite annoyed and agitated with each lecture she gave.

Galen:" She seems a little on edge today. Maybe she needs help this time."

Lucy:" You think?! Also, what do you mean by maybe she needs help?"

Galen:" I'm good at ready other people's emotions and she seems a little nervous or on edge today."

After rubbing her temples, Erza spots Galen at a nearby table and seemed to lighten up a bit as she walked towards him and hoisted him up for a big hug.

Galen:" Nice to see you to Erza. I may be strong, but I'm not indestructible, so if you could not try breaking my ribs maybe?" He wheezed out as it became harder to breath in her bear hug.

Erza still hugged him, but lessened her grip around his torso.

Galen:" You seem a bit on edge today Erza: Is there something that I can help you with?"

Erza let go and stood up straight.

Erza:" There is actually. While traveling, I overheard something that has me worried. Normally I would consult with the master before acting, but he's not here and this is a matter of upmost urgency. You are the strongest wizard here and I could really use your help."

While many were surprised that Erza asked for help, it was not too shocking to hear she is asking for Galen's help. Erza and Galen had gone on a lot of missions the past year, even though they could have easily done the missions by themselves.

Erza:" I would like Natsu and Gray to join us as well since I don't want them to cause any more trouble while we're gone. We'll meet at the train station tomorrow morning."

The next morning:

Natsu and Gray were at each other's throats when they arrived. Galen was sitting next to Lucy and Happy on a bench.

Lucy:" Let's just pretend we don't know them."

Happy:" What made you decide to come with us?"

Lucy:" Mira asked me to since Natsu and Gray would be at each other's throats while Erza isn't looking and Galen only interferes when they get out of hand."

Happy:" You're not doing a very good job at it."

Lucy:" They're hopeless."

Erza:" Sorry I'm late. Have you been waiting long?"

Lucy:" No not really."

Lucy then notices the massive cart full of luggage that Erza is dragging behind her.

Lucy:" All of those belong to you?!" She asked stupefied.

Natsu and Gray immediately change their tune when Erza arrives into that of best of friends.

Galen has asked Erza from time to time how she gets them to listen to her so well without her even saying anything, but had little explained to him as to how since Erza simply thinks that they have learned to respect her.

After Erza is introduced to Lucy and Natsu challenges Erza to a fight after they helped her with what she asked for, Natsu knows he can't even touch Galen just yet if Erza herself can't, they board the train and take their seats.

Galen sits next to Erza with Happy on his right shoulder: Lucy, Natsu, and Gray sat across from them with Natsu already looking dreadfully sick.

Gray:" I swear you're totally pathetic Natsu. One minute you're picking a fight and next you're like this."

Lucy:" It must be tough on him to get from place to place."

Galen waves his right hand and causes Natsu to pass out.

Galen:" He should be better for the rest of the trip."

Erza, Gray, and Happy know what Galen just did, but Lucy was a bit clueless.

Lucy:" What did you just do?!"

Galen:" I made Natsu pass out using a mind trick."

Lucy:" You know mind magic to?!"

Galen: "I guess you can say that."

Natsu was face pressed and slouched against the train window.

Gray:" I think it's time you filled us in. I mean what kind of mission are we going on here?"

Erza:" Of course. I have reason to believe the dark guild Eisenwald is planning something big. I'm not sure what exactly, but it has to do with a magic item called "lullaby""

Galen:" It's probably an instrument with a name like that. A lullaby is usually played in soft tones so it's a Flute or Harp more than likely."

Lucy, Erza, and Grey were impressed by Galen's intuitiveness in this matter.

Lucy:" That does make a lot of sense, though if it's a dark guild then I don't think the song will be pretty or the instrument beautiful."

"Agreed." Erza, Galen, and Grey stated unanimously.

Erza goes on about the information on the dark guild that she knows about.

Lucy:" Ok I should be heading back home now!" she says nervously as she sweats profusely.

Happy:" Lucy's slimy all of a sudden."

Lucy:" It's Sweat!" she replies annoyed.

Erza:" I'm not foolish enough to think I can take on an entire magical guild by myself. That's why I asked for Galen, Natsu, and Grey for help. We're storming the Eisenwald guild."

Grey:" Sounds like fun to me."

Happy:" Ie!"

Lucy:" I shouldn't have come along!" She shivers in fear.

Happy:" Eww! Now you're super slimy!"

Lucy:" I told you it's sweat!"

Onibas Station:

Galen had the forethought to pick up Natsu and bring him with the group as they left the train.

Grey:" Do you think the Eisenwald guys are still gonna be in this town?"

Galen:" I don't think so. There is not much here that can be destroyed that would cause any significant notice. They are probably going for a higher populated place to enact their plans. As for whether or not they are done in this place with searching for Lullaby: I sense darkness entering the train we just departed. It might be Lullaby. It isn't the strongest darkness I have ever sensed, but it is evil in nature."

Erza was the quickest to react to the news, but the train had already left the station. Erza, Grey, Happy, Natsu, and Lucy entered a magicmobile while Galen ran beside them.

If they were not in pursuit of Lullaby right now, then Lucy would be flabbergasted that Galen was running ahead of the magicmobile.

Erza:" Where do you think they are going?" she shouts to Galen a few feet in front of her.

Galen:" Most likely they will try to regroup. More than likely the rest of the guild will be at the train station that we stop at."

Erza:" A fair assessment."

They arrived at Kunugi station and noticed that the front carts of the train were missing. Erza stopped the magicmobile, but Galen sped forward without so much as a look back.

Erza:" Where are you going!? Stay with the group!" She shouted at the top of her lungs.

Galen:" I won't waste time surveying an event that has already happened and let the culprits get away. Catch up to me later." He spoke into Erza's mind using telepathy.

Erza would usually be a bit livid with someone who acted like that, but she has known Galen for a year now and knows that he can handle himself. They surveyed the situation at the station and then proceeded to follow Galen to the next station.

Oshibana Station:

Galen had arrived as smoke had just poured out of the station. He entered the station and noticed guards were lying on the ground: some of them were still trying to move, though others looked like they were dead or at least unconscious.

Galen eventually made it to a wide open area of the station with marble tiles and columns. A group of at least 30 wizards were standing in front of the train loading tracks and Erigor sitting on a railing.

Erigor:" I was expecting more than just one fly. What a disappointment! I hope you can at least entertain us a little bit before the reaping begins." He says as he floats and lands on top of a light post.

Galen:" You're right about it being a disappointment. I don't think this will qualify as one of my morning exercises." He stated bluntly.

" We're gonna love beating that ego out of you fly!" several guild shouted as they rushed towards Galen with weapons drawn.

While these individuals were indeed weak compared to his exercises, they would still make for at least some decent practice with an unused application of one of his force powers.

Galen generates a skin tight barrier around his right hand as he extends it forward with palm flat and facing up. The swordsmen of Eisenwald raise their weapons in hand and swing at Galen. Galen effortlessly catches each of the blades mid swing and absorbs the kinetic energy using Tutaminis and bashes the blades into each of their faces hard enough to knock them out and leave a gash mark that bled onto the floor.

"He…He blocked them all and knocked them all out using only his right hand!" several shouted in disbelief.

Erigor:" I don't care if he did it with his pinky finger! Attacked him! Don't let him make a fool of us!" he ordered angrily.

Caster mages took the stage as they casted ranged magic attacks towards Galen. Galen decided to redirect the attacks instead of absorbing them this time since it might look a little more intimidating to them.

Galen held his left hand behind him and his right hand held in front of him with palm facing forward.

Each of the attacks that flew towards Galen was redirected back at the attackers whenever they struck the center of his palm. Each attack flew back into the casters face and knocked them into the ground and was out cold.

Only a handful of Eisenwald was left standing when Erza, Lucy, Grey, and Natsu made it to the train station.

Erigor knew that if he didn't set his trap up soon then he would lose to the flies at this rate. Erigor disappeared in a gust of wind without another word in hopes that no one would know where he could have gone, but Galen sensed his thoughts and ran outside of the train station in pursuit of Erigor.

Galen:" I'm going after him. Handle the rest." He said before he disappeared using force speed.

Lucy:" Whoa! He just disappeared!" She said dumbfounded

Kageyama:" Damnit I won't let you get away from us!" He shouted.

Natsu recognized the one who shouted and almost immediately got off the floor and charged at him before he could disappear into his shadow magic.

Clover Canyon:

Erigor:" I'm so close to Clover and the guild masters I can taste it." He talked out loud.

Galen:" You won't make it there I'm afraid."

Erigor:" What!? How did you catch up to me so soon?" he says as he turns around and faces an approaching Galen.

Galen:" I would have gotten here before you if I knew this was the only way into clover, save for flying there. Hand over Lullaby and surrender and you will feel no pain." He demanded coldly.

Erigor:" I would never surrender to a fly!" He said as he flew into the air.

Galen:" Unlike most others, I would let you use a single attack." He whispered into Erigor's mind.

Erigor:" Storm Brin…."

He was cut off when an elbow was bashed into the back of his neck and a fist into his face. Erigor crashed into the side of a rock formation and made a sizable indention in the rock face. A small torrent of lightning followed and blasted away the rock face as Erigor began to fall into the abyss with jolts of lightning coursing over his body.

Galen breathed a sigh of relief and made his way back down the direction of the track he came from.

The ground suddenly began to shack violently as a strong purple light could be seen rising from the abyss. Galen could feel the evil coming from the light growing stronger. The three eyed flute was in the middle of the light as it began to grow.

Galen ignited his lightsaber as the flute began to take the form of a massive demon made of wood. It was easily the size of a small town if not larger.

Galen:" That's more like it!" He thought to himself with a bit of excitement.

Lullaby:" I'm so hungry! Where are souls for me to eat?!"

Lullaby looks down and notices Galen on the bridge.

Lullaby:" Just one? That's not very satisfying, but I do sense overwhelming power within you. I MUST HAVE IT!" It roared.

Galen:" Show me what you can do first and then we'll talk."

Lullaby:" GLADLY!" it said as it charged a beam of yellow light in its mouth.

Galen raised his right hand and palm facing forward in anticipation of the attack. Lullaby fired it's devastating attack directly at Galen, but was mesmerized that Galen was stopping it. Lightning coursed over his light hand and lightsaber as he transferred the energy he was absorbing and adding a little of his own to it. The attack was finished and Lullaby could see no signs of Galen or any damage to the track.

Lullaby:" Impossible! Where did he…."

Lullaby was unable to utter another syllable as its body was cut in half by a vertical beam of highly concentrated lightning.

Galen had used the energy he absorbed and gathered into his saber to amplify his effective swing to gigantic proportions as the lightning followed the path of his saber and sliced the demon in half. Galen landed on one of the still standing rock formations behind the destroyed demon.

Galen stood proudly and smiled at his accomplishment and how impressed Erza would be with his performance.

His self-gloating was soon cut short when he heard metal bending and crashing. Galen opened his eyes and saw that not only had he destroyed the demon, but also the bridge that was falling into the abyss in a domino effect along with rock formations in the distance crumbling into themselves.

Galen's head hung low in shame.

Galen:" I'm in trouble." He thought to himself with dismay.
