I'm back with chapter 9!

Review replies:

Spirit of the Brook- ... What? You have some strange things to say

Lazy Watermelon (Guest)- you were right about... What, exactly?

TheMouseOfAwsomeness- you were right! Also, he is their father, but he's not very caring for them, is he?

YelliGal- what wolf are you talking about? And why do you hate Blackkit?

Ariana Mary Riddle- I'm glad, and the urge just washed over me. He wasn't important in the events at the end (at least not that I've planned)

LightskyxDarkfeather- no, PowerClan doesn't know about Wolfrunner's powers. They don't even know he's alive. They think he's dead. As a matter of fact, they don't know about StrongClan either. In chapter 7/8: Punished, his mother calls him Wolfkit, showing that they think he is dead

Shiverdream of Windclan- not really much I can say to your review

Chapter 9:

One Moon Later

"Goldenbreeze!" Blackkit complained, trying to wriggle out of his mother's paws. Her grip was firm, though. "Goldenbreeze!"

"Stay still, Blackkit," Goldenbreeze scolded, rasping her tongue over his head again, smoothing down a loose tuft of fur.

"I'm good!" He insisted. "Let me go!"

"Alright, alright," she purred, releasing her hold on her winged son. "Just don't go messing up your pelt."

"I won't," he promised eagerly, anxious to get away from her relentless licking. He scrambled away, doing his best to keep his footing. Despite his attempts, he tripped over Softkit as she scurried past him.

"Blackkit!" His mother called in an exasperated voice. "Come back here!"

He growled slightly in annoyance, but obeyed. She had just started to clean him up again when the call rang out,

"Let all cats with powers gather around to hear my words! All Powerless cats, join us at the back!" Spiderstar's voice rippled over the camp, and cats emerged from their dens.

Blackkit wriggled away from his mother, and bounced to the front of the clan. Spiderstar looked down at him, and a faint trace of amusement flickered inside his eyes before he gazed back at the clan.

Tallkit bounced eagerly beside him. She kept growing bigger and smaller, out of excitement, and Blackkit inched away from her before she suddenly got really big and pushed him off to the side. She seemed not to notice.

"Cats of PowerClan," he meowed when all the cats were gathered. "We are gathered here today for one of my most favorite ceremonies: the making of apprentices. Softkit, Blackkit, Tallkit, step forward please."

Tallkit moved first, her large paws able to move more quickly. Softkit was next, then Blackkit, who nearly tripped over his own paws. Spiderstar's gaze swept over them, then rested on Softkit.

"From this moment on, until she earns her warrior name, Softkit shall be known as Softpaw. Smokeleap, you will mentor her. I hope you pass on your courage and loyalty to her." Smokeleap moved forward and touched noses with Softpaw. The leader looked at Tallkit. "Tallkit, until you earn your warrior name, you shall be known as Tallpaw. Cinderfoot, you trained Dewsplash well, and I hope you will do the same to Tallpaw." Cinderfoot touched noses with Tallpaw. Finally, his eyes looked at Blackkit. "Until you earn your warrior name, Blackkit, you shall be known as Blackpaw." He hesitated for a moment. "Rivermist, you will mentor Blackpaw. I hope you pass your skills and intelligence onto your new apprentice."

Blackpaw turned towards his new mentor. The blue-gray she-cat was padding towards him. He quickly moved forwards and in his excitement, moved too fast. His nose started to sting slightly, but he ignored it. They touched noses again.

"I can't wait to start training you," Rivermist murmured softly.

Flashpelt started the cheering. "Softpaw! Tallpaw! Blackpaw!"

The rest of the clan joined in. Blackpaw could hear two voices rising above the rest: Flashpelt and Goldenbreeze. "Softpaw! Tallpaw! Blackpaw!"

Eventually, the cries died down, and the clan dispersed. Rivermist beckoned to Blackpaw.

"Come on," she meowed. "I'll show you the territory now."

Blackpaw followed her obediently, bubbling with excitement. When he left the camp, he saw her waiting.

She showed him the borders. PowerClan was divided between forest and moorland. She had also showed him several notable places. Take the Rose Clearing, for instance. It was a large clearing in the middle of the forest. Rose bushes surrounded it, and Blackpaw was careful not to step on the sharp thorns.

There was the Training Hollow, which was a big indent in the ground covered by thick, soft, bright green grass, to break falls. Obviously, they trained there.

Large, smooth rocks that had sheens of dappled red, orange, and yellow glows, which made it look like fire flickering across the tops, marked Flame Rocks, a beautiful place for cats to sun themselves. It was a fair distance away from camp, and even the elders often took trips down to it. In fact, Beetleclaw and Emberdust were lying on their backs on the rocks, whiskers twitching in contentment, when Rivermist showed Blackpaw. They struck up a short conversation, then let the two cats be.

Another notable thing was the Snake Cave. Nests of snakes lived inside there, and no cat was willing to help chase them out. Several attempts had been made over the seasons since PowerClan first formed, but unless a cat was resistant to poison, and could stand being bitten by several snakes at once, no cat was willing to help chase them out. So they let them be.

Finally, after a long walk, Rivermist led Blackpaw back to camp. "Tomorrow," she told him. "We'll work on your flying. I heard that you've already achieved flight, but you need stamina, and to strengthen your wing muscles."

"Yes, Rivermist," Blackpaw meowed eagerly. Inside, he was bursting with excitement. I'm going to learn how to fly!
