Chapter 10: "Going With The Flow"
Bossun and Himeko remained still at the radio room, staring at each other's blushing face. The girl was still sitting frozen on the floor after she heard a very unexpected confession from her dearest best friend. There was already countless times where she wanted to confess about her feeling to him but she somehow failed to do so due-to Bossun's unsensitiveness. Now her feeling was mixed. She was confused yet understood, surprised yet relieved. She wanted to shed a tear, but she felt very happy inside. After a brief second, Himeko decided to reply his confession but she was very shy to do it.
She asked him, "S-Since when?"
"I am not sure but maybe since you transferred in and gave me this hat…"
"W—WHAT? It was two years ago!"
"It doesn't matter right? I can't help it, you see! Everyone knows that I am a shy person, you see!" Bossun said panickly, blushing.
"Then why now? Why you confessed today?"
Bossun took a deep breath and let it out, "Of course it is because when we went home together yesterday, you told me about not wanting to separate from me after we graduate. But there's also that time when we were teased in the class by the whole classmates and you told them that it was a joke, which made me unsure about our situation. That's why I seriously gave my thought on it all night long yesterday."
"I—I only told you that I want to go to the same university as you!" Himeko flustered. "… Well, that was true too though. I don't want to be separated from you, Bossun…"
"Then what is your answer, Himeko?"
"Isn't it obvious already!? It's embarassing to say that word, you know!" Himeko's cheeks were reddened more. "Bossun… I… you… too," Himeko stammered.
The boy with red hat and google on his head could only gulped his saliva after hearing her because he couldn't hear her clearly. It urged him to ask her say it again, "… Come again?"
The blonde woman couldn't hold it any longer. Her body was shaking due-to her happiness and it seemed impossible for to only express it by words. She charged forward, throwing her arms to Bossun, causing him to skip a heartbeat.
"Bossun… I always like you," she said on his left ear. "Since you saved me and Captain from those punks when we were freshmen and became my very first best friend at this school, you are always in my heart…" She tightened her arms, "You dragged me out from the lone darkness, Bossun. I won't be here if I didn't meet you."
"… But I was scared, Bossun. I was afraid that those feelings would divide us apart. I don't want to lose our friendship. If I was alone that time, I might go to the darkness once again. That's why, I…"
"Himeko," Bossun cut in. "You are choking me."
"Ah! I'm sorry, Bossun!"
After she let him go, Bossun raised up while rubbing his neck to make the slight pain away. He then offered his hand to help the girl stood up. "If it's about helping people, I will do my best. That's what I've always been doing. I was born to help people."
"I see. So that time, you also..." Himeko thought, feeling down. However, she was cut in by Bossun who denied those bad thoughts in her mind.
"However, you are different. When you are in deep trouble, my mind goes blank and I did very reckless things to help you out."
"As we spent day after day together, I realized that you are special to me. It always felt wrong when you are not around me and it is annoying to see you with other guys," he said as grabbing the smiling girl's hand. He stared at her shining beautiful blue orbs and replied her smile, "Himeko. From now on, you shall not worry about the darkness again. Because no matter what happpened, I will definitely stay with you and save you."
"Bossun…" Himeko cried. Tears were running down her cheeks like a river as she covered her face with her hands. Bossun heroically pull out his handkerchief and offer it to Himeko, which she automatically brushed off because it looked dirty, telling him she had her own handkerchief. The man could only sweatdropped, disappointed at himself.
"Himeko, let's go to the class shall we."
"Uun!" Himeko nodded, she had already done wiping her tears with handkerchief but still used it to cover her blushing face.
This had come to Bossun's mind. He couldn't help but to throw a comment when they were about to walk out from the radio room, "Come on, Himeko. You won't be able to see if you cover up your face like that!"
"But it's embarassing, you know! It's like, EVERYONE in this school heard your confession!"
"We… well, we will face them together… So… just…. Re…la…" Bossun's face suddenly reddened up to the tip of his ears. He was suddenly very conscious about what had just happened. He was now also cover his face with his palms.
They finally left the room and walked to their class. They imagined that everyone would throw weird looks towards them, but surprisingly everything was normal. Everyone in the hall was just walking, chattering like usual.
"This… is…"
"Ahaha, I guess there's nothing to worry about! Maybe they didn't hear the broadcast! It must have been turned off!"
"No, Bossun. Tact said he heard them."
"You are right. So what is this? Did some government agents brainwash their memories or what?"
On their way to the class, they passed by Captain and Yabasawa who were walking against them. Bossun and Himeko decided to ask them if they heard incident in the radio just now.
"Yeah. We heard them."
"I… I see…"
The SKET Dan couple was not surprised but confused because although the radio was surely funcioning correctly, no body in the school said something about it. "We all know that you two are going out, so it's not a surprise yabasu~" The chubby girl explained.
Captain nodded in agreement, "Exactly! I guess every ONE in Kaimei High already think that you two are dating!"
"ALREADY!?" Bossun and Himeko shouted together.
"Yeah, is it wrong?"
The new couple looked at each other, dumbfounded and blushed. "So that's why everyone doesn't seem react to Bossun's confession?"
"We already looked like a couple, huh?" He sweatdropped.
"Well, that's that. Chuuma-sensei asked me to come to the teacher's room before the homeroom period. So you both can go on first!"
"Ah. I—I see," Bossun stammered, still blushing.
"Ya-bye bye!"
"L—Later, Captain! Yabasawa-san!" Himeko waved them goodbye.
Bossun and Himeko diverted their eyes from each other while walking. It seemed like they were really ashamed because they had just learned about how people looked at them. However, they didn't concern about that. They just kept walking down the sun-bathed corridor together, side-by-side, with blossomed feelings that surrounded their pounding chests. It was such beautiful sensation that had made Bossun and Himeko smiled sincerely from the bottom of their hearts.
They finally arrived at the class 3-C after spending their journey without a word spoken from both party. There were no sitting arangement in the class so they just took the remaining empty seats, which made them sit next to each other.
Chuuma hadn't arrived yet and their classmates were studying or chattering. Himeko also decided to speak to Bossun again, "Huff. I guess there will be no changing even after what you have done… I'm glad… Hahaha. It will be troublesome if everyone tease us."
"Yeah! It will be very troublesome! I won't be able to focus on studying if they tease us… Ahaha."
"What? You can just put on your goggles to stay focus! I'm the one who won't study if they were to tease us!"'
"Oi. You were just making excuses, right…?" Bossun sweatdropped.
"[Lively as usual, I see]"
"Switch!"
The boy and girl failed to notice that their best friend Switch was sitting in front of Bossun, hearing their conversation. There's a long pause before Switch's laptop read his typing, "[…. Congratulation. Ufufufun~]"
"Aaaagh! You did it Switch! You tease us!"
"[Actually I've always been shipping you two as a couple~ I'm rooting for you two, Bossun, Himeko. LOL]"
"Shipping? This is not a fanfiction for god's sake!" Himeko threw out a nonsense tsukkomu.
Suddenly, Sasuke came to their direction, "Fujisaki. Could you come out with me for a second?"
"Sure," Bossun rose from his chair.
"You two can join too if you want," said Sasuke.
Himeko and Switch nodded in unison.
They were now standing at the outside of the class. The corridor was already empty because it was already the homeroom period. Chuuma was the only teacher who hadn't come to his class.
"—WHAT? Someone you know?" Bossun almost yelled, but Sasuke calmed him down.
"Yes. That's what Shimura said. I don't know if he was true to his words or not, but this is the only clue we have," said Sasuke.
"[Hmm, this can be tricky…]"
"Regardless of who the culprit is, I have a plan to capture him."
"Is that so? What is it?"
"Looking at how our culprit attacks us, I guess it is easier to catch him when he's in action," Bossun pointed out. "He only distributed new photos… Well, he also posted that photo when Himeko and I were going out on a fake date though."
"What is your plan then, Bossun?" Himeko asked.
"It's obvious: Going with the flow. In other words, having them four going out together," Bossun answered.
"W-WHAT!? A—ARE YOU STUPID?"
"[Wait, Bossun. What if he won't show up?]"
"About that, he might showed up and take the bait. Look here. I got this from Kiri," Sasuke showed a photo to the Sket Dan.
"This is… a photo of you and Captain. So what's in it?"
"[That position… Are you Rito-kun in disguise!?]"
"I'm sorry. I mean look at this side," said the ex-president while turning it, showing the backside of the photo.
"Hmm? There's a note on it. 'I won't stop until you fail on your exams'…"
"That's awful!" Himeko commented. "How can someone hate you that much? I mean, really! You are a good boy with a pure heart!" said her with glimmering eyes.
"[The culprit certainly hate his plain and thickheaded character…]" Switch added.
"Hmmm... It must be his eyelashes the culprit hate the most."
"STOP TALKING BAD ABOUT ME!"
Sasuke clear his throat. "More importantly. This guy doesn't intend to stop until the final exams… no, maybe until the university entrance exam," he clenched his fist. "He can harm those three just like what he had done with Takahashi at the storage! We must stop him by any means necessary!"
"That's right… Now the problem is, will Captain and the others agree?"
"Ugh, I don't know why but I really don't like this plan, Bossun." Himeko sweatdropped.
"You got another plan?"
"We—well… No…"
"Then don't complain!"
"Tch. He's so annoying…" Himeko pouted.
"Ah, Chuuma-sensei is coming. Let's go back to class," said Sasuke who noticed the teacher walking at their way with Captain and Yabasawa.
At the end of the school day, Bossun was going to Saaya's class with Switch, Sasuke, and Captain to invite her into the plan. Captain already agreed to aid them. Daisy seemed too busy with taking notes of the teacher's lesson on the blackboard, so they had decided to ask her later after Saaya. Although Saaya was supposed to be in 3-C for the cram later, Sasuke and the others still rushed out. Just in case if Saaya went home instead.
Himeko, who had been waiting for Daisy to finish writing down whatever written on the blackboard stay in the class. She said she was confident she could ask her to come. However..
"I refuse."
"Eeeh, whyyy? This will clear misunderstandings around you, Daisy-chan!" Himeko was shocked. She stood from her seat and approached Daisy, who was in the middle of tidying up her bag after making notes of the teacher's lesson on the blackboard, then leaning her head to Daisy's ear to whisp, "Besides, this is a big chance to confess, right!?"
"…" Daisy stared at Himeko. "What are you talking about? Why would I confess to Tsubaki-kun?"
"But…" Himeko could only gasped after Daisy's reaction.
"Now if you excuse me, I have to go to the student council office," Daisy turned her back at Himeko and walked away. Just when she about to get out of the class, Sasuke suddenly appeared, standing solid at the nose of the door. Seemed like he overheard them.
"Asahina. Why did you refuse?"
"You were eavesdropping? Go throw yourself from the top of Tokyo Tower, come back to life again, and then die again! You petty EX-President!" Daisy insulted him instead of answering his question. "Now get out of my sight. I must go to the StuCo's offi—"
"—If you refuse, you'll only endanger yourself! I can't let that happen, Asahina!" Sasuke said with angry face. "You are my dear friend!"
"…" Daisy just stared cold at him, while Himeko who's the only student left in the class watching them from her position.
"Asahina. You know what happened to Takahashi, right? The culprit may do the same to you in the futu—"
"Cut that out!" Daisy shouted. Sasuke was shocked while Himeko was nervous in the class, watching the two ex-student council officers.
There's a silent moment between them before Asahina continued, "Tsubaki-kun. I thought I had told you not to treat me like a helpless weak woman who's lying on a hospital bed, waiting to die from fatal disease," said Daisy emotionlessly as usual. "I don't even feel disturbed by this false rumor. I can live just fine."
"You can go play your little detective game with those kids. But don't consider to involve me in it, you damn baboon!" she added.
"…"
Thus, Daisy walked away from Sasuke without saying goodbye. Himeko who had been waiting in the class until they finished talking made her way to the door, where Sasuke was standing.
"Can't helped it Tsubaki… But, no worries. Daisy-chan is the least person we should worry about! I mean, she hardly ever in trouble!" She encouraged him.
"…" Sasuke kept in silent, still looking at Asahina who was slowly heading to the stairs. She eventually vanished behind the wall and Sasuke turned to Himeko, "You are right, Onizuka."
Himeko smiled. However, she seemed to feel uneasy upon Asahina's refusal. Something was bothering the Onihime. "That was not your true feeling. Right, Daisy-chan?" She said in her deepest thought.
"By the way, how about Saaya? Why did you go back here again?"
"She said she didn't want me or Fujisaki to be there for some reason," answered him.
"Eh? Then where's Bossun?"
"He stayed anyway. He told her that he must be there to tell the plan. She finally agreed, but I still have to leave."
"Why was she so against seeing Tsubaki? Well, I can tell why she refused to see Bossun after that big confession, but what about Tsubaki? Uuh I don't get this! So she also liked Tsubaki? But her action in front of him was always like... harsh! Geez, tsunderes are sure hard to explain!" Himeko thought. She was really confused that even a black foam coming out from her head comically.
"Oh, now that it reminds me! Aren't we having a cram with Agata-san after this?" Sasuke remarked.
"Ah, you are right! I am completely forgot!"
Soujiro had arrived. He's walking towards them together with Bossun, Switch, Saaya, Captain, and the same ol' Daisy. It looked like they met each other on the way to their way to 2-C.
"There he is… Huh?"
Sasuke was surprised, but also felt funny at the same time as he saw the girl who had just left him in such manner, coming back again together with his mentor. He and Himeko noticed that Daisy averted her eyes away from them.
"Tsubaki, don't just stand there. Go back to the classroom. We are starting soon," Agata commanded him.
"Understood, Kai— ehm. Agata-san!"
Himeko hurriedly took a seat next to Daisy. She seemed to be curious with her. After all, she had just said all those things to Sasuke and she just went back again.
"Daisy-chan, I thought you were going to the Student Council's office. What happened?" Himeko asked.
"I don't want to miss Agata-san's lesson. I have to dedicate every minute to study. That's all," she replied. Daisy put her notebook on the table, "I have asked Hani-chan to do the task anyway."
"What job? I thought you are no longer the secretary of the Student Council. Or are you still?" Himeko asked again. Daisy, however, was not interested in answering her question.
The class started normally, and without them noticing it's already dark. Soujiro went back to the office while the gang stayed at the class for Bossun telling them the detail of the plan. Unlike the rest of the group, Daisy tried to separate herself from them to go back home alone. However, Switch halted her by standing on her way.
"[Wait]"
"What are you doing? Get out of my way."
"[Please stay. We need you here]"
"I thought I already said that I won't join your puny plan, gross otaku."
"[It's not about the plan. But would you care to join us in joy of celebrating Fujisaki Yuusuke and Onizuka Hime's relationship?]" he put out a camera from nowhere.
The whole group heard their conversation.
"Huh?"
"What?"
"[Let's take a photo~ We must capture this moment and remember it forever, yes?]"
"I agree!" Captain shouted happily.
"Well, it won't hurt to take a photo," Sasuke agreed.
Himeko quickly jumped over a school table towards Switch's row and whispered to his ear, "Are you an idiot? Do you forget about Saaya?"
Switch was shocked. He couldn't believe he failed to consider about Saaya's feelings towards Bossun before he took action. However, Switch's feeling of guilt was not remain for too long after Saaya her self said, "-Let's do this! I'm sure it will be cute! Hehe!"
"Saaya?" Himeko was a bit surprised; even Switch's fingers were trembling.
"Well, I am going to apology to her anyway later…" Switch thought.
"[So what do you say, Himeko?]"
"We—well…" Himeko gulped and slowly changed her sight at Daisy who was standing with her and Switch to say, "If Daisy-chan stays, I'll do it!"
"Then it settled," Daisy said, smiling expressionlessly.
"Wh—wha? Why do you agreed!" Bossun stammered.
"[Good Daisy is good!]"
"But I will leave after taking the photo."
"Yes, yes. It's alright!" Himeko commented.
"Now now, Himeko~ Bossun~ Come here!" Said Captain who was already standing in front of the podium. Bossun shyly walked to the front of the class, with his usual embarrassed face. Looking at him was only making Himeko giggled.
"Geez, can't help it! Fufufu~ Let's go Daisy-chan!"
Switch arranged the position. Bossun and Himeko stood in the middle and the others were just standing in random position. Switch carefully adjusting his camera to put it so there was a countdown before the camera captured the picture. He then rushed after he press the capture button, followed by a beep sound.
Two beeps before the shutter closed, Bossun and Himeko held each other hands and looked at each other passionately. And a beep before that, Tsubaki Sasuke moved his eyes towards a certain girl. Without him noticing, his action was permanently saved in a picture and out of his control, that girl is his very soulmate he's going to marry 10 years after their graduation.
On the weekend, the fake date takes place.
They've decided to go to the amusement park for the date. Sasuke was not going to date the two at the same time. Bossun said that it would be an obvious trap if he were. Instead, Sasuke was going to date one by one. He'd get to change partner after 30 minutes or after one ride. While Sasuke dating them as bait, The Sket Dan would work as a lookout by wearing the park's mascot's costume. Not only that, Switch somehow managed to hack the amusement park's system so he could make use of the security cameras. Switch also told them that he could find the culprit with ease, if he meant to appear.
For starters, Sasuke dated Saaya. They pretended to meet each other at the fountain, which was located at the center of the park. Sasuke was wearing a gray shirt, covered by a green cardigan, and a pair of black jeans. Saaya was wearing white dress under a light-pink cardigan, flower-motived skirts with dark-blue stocking wrapped her legs.
After greeting each other, the boy asked the twin-tailed girl to walk.
"OK, since you're here. Let's go. It's already crowded."
"… Geez! Tsubaki-kun is a really plain guy!"
"Tsubaki-kun?"
"What is it, Saaya?"
"H—how… How do I look?"
Sasuke turned to the blushing Saaya. His eyes were scanning her from her head to toe, "Just like the usual I guess."
"What kind of answer is that!? You even took time to answer my question! How rude!" Saaya puffed her cheeks, getting annoyed by Sasuke's response. "I dressed up for this, you see!"
"Eh? You dressed up for th—"
"No no no! Forget what I was saying!"
"What was that all about?" Sasuke thought.
Saaya was extremely embarassed about this. Her face was red all the time. Sasuke was, on the other hand, unexpectedly calm about this.
"Tsu—Tsubaki-kun?"
"What, Saaya? Huh? Your face is beet red! Are you alright?" Sasuke suddenly looked serious.
"No, dummy! Listen! I just want to make it clear that it's not like I want to go on a date with you or anything! This is just for the plan to catch the culprit, got it?" Saaya tsun-tsun—ed Sasuke.
"Yeah. I understand. Well, it's good that you're not sick. The plan will not work if you are not here," he answered.
"Geez… Can't believe I fell for this guy," Saaya sighed. "Huh? Huh? WHAT AM I TALKING ABOUT? Wh—wha! Wh—What?"
"By the way, Saaya. Are you hungry?"
"Ah, yes!" she spontaneously answered.
"Well, then let's go over there," he pointed at a table. There's a fast-food booth near them. The table he pointed at was the only table available since the others were already taken. It was weekend after all, so it's no surprise that there's so many people as far as they can see.
They headed to the table and took seats, of course, next to each other. Sasuke didn't seem to care about their sitting arrangement, unlike Saaya who had been fidgeting since then.
"I wonder if they already find the guy…" Sasuke muttered.
"Yeah. Me too."
"Anyways, what are you ordering, Saaya?"
"I'm on diet."
"Huh? I thought you said you're hungry."
"Well, of course I am. Duh! I'm on diet so I only ate little for breakfast."
"I see. Then, I will choose—"
"About that Tsubaki-kun," Saaya suddenly cut in, putting her hand in her handbag. "I actually made you a bento…"
"Eh?"
"Was it bad? It's okay if you don't want to!"
"No no no! It's just that… This is the first time I receive a homemade bento except from my parents! So, I'm very delighted. Thank you very much, Saaya!" Sasuke took the bento from her hands.
"Yes! It's my pleasure!" Saaya smiled brightly. She looked really accomplished after Sasuke began eating.
The booth was not far from the rides, so they could hear people's screams or laughters. The atmosphere was chilly and windy because it's almost winter in an autumn season. Fortunately the weather was friendly. The sky was clear blue and the dazzling sun would enlighten the city for all day today, said the weather report. Sasuke and Saaya were grateful for that. Not only it allowed the plan to work, but also for the sun had made the trees around them to reflect a gentle red color, which were very mesmerizing to see.
After 10 minutes, he finally had finished eating his lunch.
"H—How was it, Tsubaki-kun?"
"It was great! Thanks!"
"I'm glad then…" Saaya smiled. "Th—this is nothing you see! It's actually just the leftovers of my breakfast!" She turned her head away to enter her tsun-tsun mode.
"What? Really? Why did you give it to me?"
"No, I'm just kidding you silly!" She said, teasing Sasuke by closing her eyes and playfully showing her lip to him.
"Huff. Is that so? I almost fell for that."
There was a long pause between them before Saaya broke the ice again, "By the way, Tsubaki-kun. Where are you going after graduate?"
"Ah. I want to go to Tokyo University. I know It's not going to be easy, but since I attending Agata-san's cramming, my confidence raise up significantly as my scores are getting better and better," he answered confidently. "He's a great man. Your brother. I really look up to him," he added, resulting a soft smile from Saaya.
"Well, It's still alright if it's not Tokyo University though!" He answered, giggling.
"As long as I can be a doctor. Like my father!"
