Demetri
I pushed the solid door open. Kara stepped back and nearly tumbled down the steps in surprise.
"Seriously," Her breath came past her lips in short pants, "Are you a part of a mafia because that's the only explanation I'm coming up with."
"It's somewhat similar," I admitted, "But like you've been told, everything will be explained in time."
Kara's jaw tightened at those words before she muttered, "Answer me this then: you're not human, are you?"
Hell she was stubborn. Something that I was growing to admire about her.
"No," I gently grasped her wrist and pulled her up the steps, "We are not human. None of the beings you will be meeting are."
Kara's moves were robotic as she kept eye contact, waiting for me to continue.
"That's some intense eye contact,"
Kara
I could feel Demetri's cold skin through his glove and shivered at the touch. He noticed as his grip gentled slightly, but his eyes didn't waver from mine. They burned through me as if he could read my exact thoughts.
"That's some intense eye contact,"
I turned my headed towards the approaching voice and my mouth nearly dropped at how beautiful the girl was. She had her long blonde hair was curled to perfection and pinned off to one side. She wore a short, form fitting blue dress with a single laced sleeve that stopped at her wrist.
"Felix came back before you did," She stopped at my side, "I was concerned you two had run off."
I took notice that the girl had abnormally bright golden eyes. Of course, Demetri had abnormal red eyes. Demetri himself said he wasn't human. No one was. So that meant that this girl had to be exactly like him.
"Aro's been very impatient and I'm not in the mood to deal with anymore of his tyrannical outbursts," She turned away from us.
Before I could even blink, the small blonde girl had completely disappeared from my sight.
My mouth fell open in shock and I took several steps forward, successfully pulling myself from Demetri's grasp in search of her.
"You'll see her soon." Demetri walked past me and I caught wind of his earthy scent.
This place had an eerie beauty about it. Dark brickwork adorned the walls. Torches were bolted into the wall, lighting the hallway. My stomach was in knots as Demetri led me down a narrow hall. I moved at a slow pace before stopping completely.
He wasted no time in whirling around to face me.
I had either been physically unable to escape from them for the past three days. Now, with Demetri in front of me, I had the opportunity to turn my back to him and get the hell out of here. Demetri was quick and just as equally strong. I was willing to take my chances.
"Kara," His voice was gentle.
But when I looked into his eyes, despite how beautiful they were, they frightened me to the very core of my body. And I wasn't frightened easily. My heart was pounding against my ribs as Demetri watched me.
"Kara," He called again, this time taking a few steps closer.
I thrust my hands out in front of me as if to ward him off, "No, no. Don't!"
I spun my body around and dashed off. I don't think I made it but five steps before Demetri was in front of me. I gasped and whipped my head around. The spot where Demetri previously stood was empty. I brought my attention back to him.
"Kara,"
Tears sprung into my eyes, blurring my vision. I stumbled backwards as my mind raced with questions. He's definitely not human, is he? What is he then? A human doesn't move that quickly.
I turned in the opposite direction with every intention of finding another exit from this place. Before I could even step forward, Demetri had his arm secured around my waist and swung me clear off the ground.
I emitted an ear piercing scream that echoed off the brick walls. My hands clawed at his jacket in an attempt to have him release me. But the man was solid, like stone. I could feel the cold of his skin through his garments.
We didn't move for a moment. Demetri stood completely still as I screamed and kicked and struggled. So much for taking my chances.
My eyesight was reduced to a blur and the wind was sucked from my lungs.
Demetri
Kara's breath caught as I broke into a run, appearing at the solid doors. I placed Kara on stable ground. Wetness stained her blushed cheeks. A part of me ached to reach out and brush the tears from her cheeks. I held myself back.
The doors were opened from the inside. Kara broke eye contact with me and peered into the room, eyes narrowed.
Aro stood away from his seat. His head was tilted to the side slightly.
"We've been waiting for your arrival, my dear."
I met Krysi's eyes from across the room. If it wasn't for Alec holding her back, I was fairly sure she would've lunged at me by now.
Kara
I didn't budge as the dark haired man spoke. His voice was soft, gentle almost. His raven hair blended into the dark suit he wore. It was a stark contrast to his chalky colored skin.
He took a few steps forward with his arm extended, "Come now, my dear. We aren't going to harm you."
I didn't believe him. Demetri took my elbow and lead me into the room. It felt like a weight had landed heavily on my chest, making it difficult to breathe. Every set of eyes in that room was set upon me.
My heart beat at an unsteady rhythm. I felt Demetri stiffen beside me as the dark haired man drew closer.
"You've grown so much," He gave me a wide smile and it frightened me slightly.
I exhaled a small breath, "I – I'm sorry. But I don't – I don't know who you are."
"You wouldn't."
I narrowed my eyes at him. when he took my hand. His touch was like ice. I had the urge to pull my hand away from his. Not to mention I didn't like the idea of holding hands with a man I had just met.
"But you will." His smile grew smaller, "In time, you'll remember."
In time. What was it with everyone telling me time was going to solve everything?
I jerked my arm. But the dark haired man's grasp was like iron steel.
A gasp passed through my lips. Memories ran through my mind. Memories I didn't even know I had. I could feel something digger deeper into my mind into my mind bringing up the darkest thoughts I'd ever had. And when the memory of my parents came rushing to the front of my mind, I screamed.
