'I want to die,'I stood before the cliff gazing out upon the vast land that God had created for Mankind. The land that I had tended to and had given me sustance. The land that had betrayed me. The land the I had been forced to wander for the last hundred years.
Upon this land I had a family, a son, I had built a city in honor of that son, the son who I hoped would not be inflicted the same curse as I. But... in the end it was all for nothing. All of my accomplishments, everything I had done felt meaningless, as they were all guided by the hands of that accursed God. And so... if anything, I would be the one to decide when I died. I would not die on God's terms. I would die on my own.
And with the thought of freedom on my mind, I stepped off the edge of the cliff.
I woke from the same dream I had every night, less a dream and more a memory. A means to remember why I wanted to destroy God. Why I would do anything in my power, even if it meant assisting the Shomonkai in creating a literal hell on earth. Even though the final destination of our goals may have been the same, our means of getting there were vastly different. I had my own plans now that the COMP's were complete.
I looked over at the open COMP next to my bed, and saw that it read 4:30AM in the small digits I had programmed. It was still early, but there was still so much to be done over the next several days. The ball had only just started to roll.
Throwing on my haori I moved to the computer. The water and lights had already been turned off, and despite having my own generator I would only use it to run my computer. Drawing undue attention would be counter productive, I didn't even want to use the computer, however I had to keep tabs on Kazuya and his group, if anything happened to them my current plan would be ruined. After pulling up the screen which had all the active COMP's my blood froze, "DEAD END" read in big letters next to Kazuya's name, at exactly midnight.
I tried to consider the different possibilities. How he could have died, why he died so early, when I noticed that both Yuzu and Atsuro's COMP's were active. Kazuya wouldn't have died without them would he? I decided to run a quick diagnostic on his COMP to make sure it was reading correctly. It may have just been an error, the most hopeful situation that is, is that it was and no demons would attack until the COMP was back up and running.
My mind once again stopped when I noticed a little warning in the bottom of my screen. Despite my security someone had managed to gain access to my own network that I had set up, and was watching my moniter. The diagnostic had to run in order for the error to be fixed, but I couldn't remain here. Casting a barrier over my apartment I quickly left the apartment, finding several people dressed in yellow and black uniforms waiting for me outside.
"Naoya Minegishi, you're coming with us." One of the black uniformed men spoke up. I recognized this group. Infact I had already done my research on them. JPs, the organization that ran Japan from the shadows. Their leader, a man named Yamato Hotsuin was young but powerful, ruling the organization with an iron fist.
"I'm afraid I have another engagement, you'll have to excuse me." I feigned politeness. As soon as I said those words, several phones flipped open followed by the summoning of demons. A program similar to mine that used phones... I was impressed, however they lacked power. Even so, I was in trouble. In my rush to protect the diagnostic I left my COMP on the desk, and I was outnumbered atleast ten to one.
"This is your last warning, Naoya Minegishi. You are coming with us." He was an unremarable man. An insect. And yet he felt it necessary to order me around? I dropped the facade, reaching into my Haori. It was true I had left my COMP on my desk, but there was one other thing that was always on my person, no matter what I did. "Don't move!" I ducked just in time as the demon came running at me.
"I am going to give you a single warning, JPs." I spoke coldly, standing up straight as I removed the small velvet key from my pocket. "Leave now, or I will kill you."
"Then you leave us no choice! Bring him in! Dead or alive!" At that mans orders the demons that had been surrounding me suddenly closed in. Pathetic insects, if they wanted to die that badly they needed only ask.
"From the Sea of My Soul, I summon you. Jack the Ripper." The blue key glowed faintely, and the demons fell to peices at my feet as the man dressed in black stood behind me like a shadow. "Kill them."
"Wh-What is that thing!?" The man who had so confidently given the orders to bring me, fell to his knees trembling in fear. I stepped towards the man, as he tried to scramble away from me, the Persona I had summoned slaughtering the other JPs Members, slashing through the environment like butter.
"That 'thing' is the reflection of my soul. Jack the Ripper. The name given to me over 100 years ago." I told the man as the last of his comrades fell victom to my persona and it sauntered over to him.
"Don't... Don't kill me! Please!" He begged, tears streaming down his face. I smiled as I crouched down to him, the Ripper stabbing a sword through his uniform pinning him to place. "I'll do anything you ask! Just... Please! don't ki-" The magic shot pierced his throat, just barely missing me.
I looked up at the source and I saw an almost perfect mirrored image of my younger self staring down at me from atop one of the buildings. He stared down at me with cold, heartless eyes before he turned around disappearing into the darkness. There was no mistaking it. That was Yamato Hotsuin. A man who had no tolerance for the weak. He would be coming after me. I would have to keep moving, the diagnostic would have to run on it's own. Jack the Ripper disappeared again, returning to the form of a key, which I pocketed.
I had left several COMP's around the city for emergencies. I would have to pick one up later, using a persona would be for emergecnies only. It drew to much attention from the Angels. I started to move, the last time I had checked my Death Clock I still had 7 days, it would be down to 6 now. I had to be careful, even with my power Yamato Hotsuin was not to be underestimated.
'You need to survive Kazuya. Whatever the cost. You're needed in the new world.'
