Lila braced for Edward's attack, time slowed to a near stand by even for the superior eyesight of vampires, a roar echoed out, like the boom of a mighty thunder strike, raw and full of untamed and uncontained emotion. Startled Edward stopped a hairs breath away from Lila, watching shocked as her red eyes flashed to gold for a moment, she straightened her stance like nothing had happened, brushing her robes off, "You stand in the presence of a vampire form a direct descendent of Marice! I am the last of the original venom lines."
The throne room became impossibly more intense when Lila's eyes burned solidly gold now, a animalistic look settling over her face, yet her eyes held a pain, "We where cursed to this Earth, cursed to drink the blood of humans. Those that know of us worship us as gods, though it is us that should worship them. For they know true peace, the true treasure and gift of life! Just because we are monsters does not mean we should act as such," Lila said, and it became apparent this was about more than just the Cullens and Edward's actions.
I turned to Bella, "I will agree to sire you, and you shall be my first and last. The fourth venom descendent of Marice himself, though there is oath you must swear by eternity to uphold-"
"Why?" Bella asked clearly frightened by my off putting behavior.
Lila let out a ragged sigh, expelling more than just wasted breath, "Because the line of Marice is cursed, for if we shall kill a single human we shall take their death unto our self and know death for eternity, and any chance of redemption for our kind shall be lost."
Alice looked flabbergasted, some part of her denying the truth before her, "Bella she's telling the truth."
Edward gained his courage back, "W-why are y-you're eyes-s gold?"
I turned to him with a forgiving look, "It's like a mark of Cain, it's a mark, a mark of the cursed. Within each of the line of Marice, is a animal, a beast that tempts us to our dark fate, do not give in for the price shall be far worse than if I never turned you," the last part was said more towards Bella than Edward and Alice.
Bella tilted her head to the side and I bit into her neck not taking a drop, as my venom pooled into the puncture wounds, and welled up into her blood stream. To be swept away with the thundering of her heart, she collapsed in my arms, much like a coma patients, and I held her up till Edward swept his mate in his arms. I smiled knowing that this siring would be my first successful one, the animal in me satisfied with its good work. I didn't know if No'vake's story about Marice being a fallen angel was true or not, but I did know for sure that our line was cursed. Carrying a burden that the rest of the vampire race doesn't have to carry.
I turned away from the scene and walked to my angered mate's sides, watching as the Cullen's left with their precious human. Looking to the gazes of my mates I knew they had questions, and answers I would willingly give them. I swept myself from the throne room, knowing full well that they would follow me. I met them in the gardens, a delicate bud of a rose held in my hand, still attached to the bush unharmed. The line of Marice was the protector of humanity, yet cursed to feed of the lambs they acted as Shepard to. I felt their presences lingering behind me, "I didn't say because it wasn't relevant till now, it was information only to be past on to who I wished to sire, but now you know, I will answer your questions."
I paused speaking to turn around for my mates, seeing Marcus was the only one standing, Aro and Caius appearing very unpleased and disapproving, it didn't brush against my feelings, I felt no hurt at their obvious rejection, "You no not my burden my ravens, so be careful who you judge."
Not to my surprise Caius and Aro left, Marcus patted the stone bench at his side, looking wistfully into my eyes. We shared a moment of silence, sitting side by side, our legs brushing, I broke the silence first, "Do you wish to share the bond with me?"
Marcus nodded, it seemed he was the mate that I could not anger even if I tried, "If that is your wish mia cara."
I nodded silently agreeing it was, and so I here we where, moments away from sharing only a piece of the darkness of my past.
