I have nothing to say except sorry.
I don't own The Avengers, Just Andy.
I have chapter 11 in the oven, might post it tomorrow.
ENJOY
May 4, 2012
It was a hot and humid evening in Kolkata and Bruce and Andy were currently caring for a young boy that had heavy diarrhea.
"What's your diagnosis, Nurse Lupin." Bruce teased lightly.
Andy concentrated as she went through different sicknesses and their symptoms that Bruce had taught her.
"Dysentery." She said finally, "You should just tell his parents to give him lots of fluids so he doesn't get dehydrated." Andy murmured, looking at him with growing confidence, "However this implies that he digested dirty food or water, or he has a bad immune system."
Bruce nodded his head in approval and began telling the parents in Bengali what to do which Andy could understand because Bruce explained it slowly.
The parents then began thanking the two, speaking rapidly in Bengali which Andy just nodded during pauses praying that she was nodding her head at the right things, but they let them wash up and payed them 1500 rupees so Andy assumed they were very thankful that they had helped them with their son and were just like any worried pair of parents.
Bruce was beginning to wash up as Andy combed through the sick child's hair to comfort him while singing a soft hymn to lull him to sleep when suddenly a young girl appeared at the door way and began speaking quickly in Bengali to the mother of the household.
Bruce said something along the lines of calming down, Andy couldn't tell.
"What does she want?" Andy asked skeptically when she eyed the large wad of money in the girls hand with suspicion even more so when she said 'please' in English.
"Her father's sick." Bruce muttered as he quickly dried his hands. "We should go."
Andy nodded her head solemnly and stood, giving the little girl a wary glance as she did so.
Bruce entangled his left hand with Andy's right, a habit it seemed, never really noticing the blush that Andy formed whenever he did after the past years.
The little girl grabbed his right hand and began leading the two of them out of the city.
An armed vehicle drove by and Andy tripped slightly to turn Bruce away from the soldiers in case he was recognized.
Andy flashed him a smile and he chuckled slightly as the little girl led them into the house across the road.
The girl led them in, "Right so where is-" Andy trailed off as the girl jumped out an open window, "Ah." She said.
"Should've got paid up front." Bruce joked.
Andy eyed at him and squeezed his hand to try and take away some of his stress.
Bruce let out a sigh and squeezed back.
"For a pair that's suppose to be avoiding stress you picked a hell of a place to settle." Came a calm and familiar voice.
"Out of all the bloody people." Andy growled as Bruce and herself turned to face none other than Natasha Romanov.
"Avoiding stress isn't the secret." Bruce said calmly.
"Then what is it, yoga?" Natasha said smartly as she tried to avert her gaze from Andy's piercing one.
Bruce looked at Natasha and began fiddling with his hands like he always did when he was nervous.
Andy glanced out the window, "You led us to the edge of the city, smart." Andy commented coldly and Bruce slowly placed his bag on the ground. "I'm guessing you've got the whole place surrounded."
Natasha held back a flinch, "Just the three of us." She said calmly.
Bruce frowned skeptically, "And your actress buddy." He said as he gestured towards the open window, "She a spy too, they start that young?"
"I did." Natasha said quietly.
"Who are you?" Bruce asked.
"Natasha Romanov." Both Andy and Natasha said at the same time.
Bruce sighed and subtly moved in front of Andy protectively, "Are you here to kill me Miss Romanov, because that's not going to work out with everyone." He said.
"Yeah, it wouldn't work out with me." Andy muttered.
Bruce stopped himself from rolling his eyes and elbowed her slightly.
"No no of course not." Natasha said. "I'm here on be half of SHIELD."
"SHIELD." Bruce muttered as he looked at the floor.
"And here I was thinking that this was a social call." Andy drawled sarcastically.
Bruce looked back up at Natasha, "How'd you find us?" Bruce asked.
"Yeah how did you find us Tasha?" Andy asked.
"We never lost you Doctor. We've kept our distance, even helped keep some interested party off your scent." Natasha said keeping her eyes away from Andy.
Andy felt anger well within her and she stepped in front of Bruce, "How." She stated.
Natasha still looked only at Bruce.
"Natasha I asked how." Andy said coldly.
Andy caught a glance that Natasha threw at her and bristled, "You tagged me." She said in disbelief.
"I didn't know until a few months ago." Natasha said quietly. "Nicholas said he tagged you when you hugged him or something."
Andy pursed her lips as her hair began changing colors rapidly.
Bruce walked over to her and took her hand into his like she always did to him when he was in distress.
It was awkward for him but Andy relaxed somewhat and soon her hair stopped at a reddish sandy brown.
Andy detangled her hand from Bruce's.
She motioned for him to lean his head down to her level.
"I'm going to go and sit in that bedroom and try to take the tag out." Andy murmured tiredly into his ear. "You going to be okay?" She asked quietly as she gestured towards Natasha.
Bruce nodded and flashed her a small smile.
"Thank you." She said and promptly moved to the bedroom of the shack house muttering about trusting spy agencies and stupidity.
Bruce stood straighter and stared at Natasha with a condescending look.
"We need you to come in." Natasha said bluntly.
"What if I say no." Bruce challenged.
"I'll persuade you." Natasha said smiling.
Bruce felt himself bristle in anger, "And what if the other guy says no?" He said darkly.
"You've been more than a year without an incident, I don't think you want to break that streak." Natasha said coolly, "and knowing you, you wouldn't want to place Andromeda's life in danger."
Bruce chuckled darkly, "then you really don't know me very well, or Andy apparently because she can handle herself when it comes to the other guy."
Natasha shifted, "Doctor we're facing a potential global catastrophe." She explained, trying to change the subject
Bruce laughed dryly, "Oh those we actively try to avoid." He said.
A sudden flash was emitted from the bedroom and both Bruce and Natasha could hear Andy yell in delight, "I got it." She said.
Andy made her way back into the room with a smile of triumph as she sat down on the floor showing off a small bloodied metal disk that was the size of a pea, "That was in my left forearm." She said.
She looked between Natasha and Bruce, "Proceed." She said.
Natasha nodded and pulled out her phone to pull up a picture of a glowing blue cube, "This is the Tesseract." She said pushing the phone to the center of a near by table, "It has the potential energy to wipe out the planet."
Bruce began fishing in his pockets for his glasses.
Andy rolled her eyes and went over to him while taking out his glasses from her pocket.
She tapped him on the shoulders as he kept looking around for his glasses and he turned.
Andy handed his glasses to him, "You almost left them at the previous patience house you idiot." She said.
Bruce let out a breathy laugh, "Thanks." He said as he put them on to look at the picture.
"What does Fury want me to do swallow it?" Bruce joked bitterly and Andy snorted.
Natasha stared at how relaxed the two interacted until Andy cleared her throat.
Natasha blinked and began explaining, "He wants you to find it, it's been taken. It emits a gamma signature too weak for us to trace. No one knows gamma radiation like you do." She gave Bruce a smile. "If there was, that's where I'd be."
Bruce sighed, removed is glasses and placed the phone on the table, "So Fury isn't after the monster." He said.
Andy sighed in disappointment at his choice of words but kept quiet.
"Not that he's told me." Natasha said calmly.
"And he tells you everything." He said doubtfully.
Natasha froze for a second out of panic as she notice the doctor begin to get testy, "Talk to Fury he needs you on this." She said, quickly glancing at Andy for help but the young witch just smiled and shrugged.
"He needs me in a cage." He said irritably.
"No ones going to put you in a cage." Natasha said as panic began creeping up her spine.
"STOP LYING TO ME!" Bruce yelled gutturally as he slammed both his hands hard on the table.
Natasha pushed back, whipped her gun out from underneath the table and pointed it at Bruce knowing that Andy would probably help her now.
But Andy sat there and began giggling hysterically and Bruce just brought his hands up in a peaceful gesture.
"I'm sorry, that was mean." Bruce said bashfully.
"We just wanted to see what you'd do." Andy said as she stifled her giggles.
"Why don't we do this the easy way, where you don't use that." Bruce pointing at the gun, "And the Other Guy doesn't make a mess of things." He said gesturing to himself.
Bruce smiled awkwardly, "Okay?Natasha." He said softly.
Natasha stared at the Doctor and slowly put down her gun. She then put a hand to her ear, "Stand down. It's good here."
Andy walked to a window and looked out the window smugly with her arms crossed as she spotted gun men walking away from the house.
She turned to Natasha, "Just the three of us." She said mockingly as she made her way back to Bruce to hold his hand.
"Lead the way then." Bruce said in a resigned manner.
"Do you need to pick anything up?" Natasha asked.
"No, this is it." Bruce mused, gesturing to Andy who was wearing her satchel and to his bag that he had put down previously.
"Follow me then." Natasha said leading them out of the house and into a nearby quinjet.
Andy sighed and leaned her head on Bruce's shoulder as they made there way into the jet, "And here I thought I could trust a spy agency." She said miserably.
Bruce nudged her comfortingly, "It'll be okay." He murmured as he sat on one of the seats of the jet.
"You're just saying that so I don't feel shitty." Andy muttered, dropping her satchel on the ground and dropped into a seat.
"Pretty much." Bruce said jokingly.
Andy giggled and pushed him good-naturedly , "Oui, shut it." She said.
Natasha cleared her throat and sat across from the two of them, "So are you two a thing now?" She asked Andy.
Both Andy and Bruce blushed heavily, "N-no we're just-" "Yeah no we just-" Bruce looked at Andy and Andy looked at Bruce, "Friends." They said quickly at the same time before looking away.
Natasha raised an eyebrow at Andy.
"Oh shut up." Andy said, "I'm still mad about the tag."
Natasha raised her hands in mock surrender and turned her attention to some papers at her side.
Andy sighed and looked at Bruce, "Get some shut eye." She murmured.
"But-" Bruce began.
"You haven't slept all that much lately, sleep and I'll wake you when we get there." Andy said.
"What about you?" Bruce asked.
Andy looked at him as if he was a stranger, "For God's sake, we live together for close to four years. I'm a werewolf for cryin out loud, like you know a nocturnal creature. Or have you lost your mind?" She asked incredulously.
Bruce laughed and slouched over in his seat, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." He said. "Night Andy." He said as his eyes began to close.
"Good night Doc." Andy said as she fished out a book from her satchel to read.
Five minutes in, she spotted Natasha staring at them again as Bruce's head lolled to the side to rest on Andy's shoulder.
Andy quirked her eyebrow at her, "You guys better not have touched my stuff otherwise I won't just be angry about being tagged." She said smirking as Natasha smiled slightly.
The three sat in the plane in silence with the low hum of the planes' engines running as they flew through the clouds.
Andy frowned when Natasha sighed, "What's wrong Tasha?" She asked.
"Clint's been compromised." The red head answered quietly.
"What." Andy said flatly with a blank expression on her face.
Natasha nodded in confirmation. "He's not dead right?" She asked. "You said once that you put some kind of link between Phil, Clint, Fury and I, did you feel anything change?"
"He's not dead." Andy said softly as she closed her eyes to find Clint's link with her, immediately she touched something cold and gasped as she pulled back quickly shivering slightly as she did.
"He's being possessed." Andy muttered as nausea came over her, "The magic's really strong it kicked me out."
Andy shivered again, "And it's cold. Very very cold. I wasn't ready for that." She said truthfully.
Natasha gave Andy a couple minutes to sort herself out, suddenly Andy spoke up, "Do you know who's responsible." She asked curiously.
Natasha nodded, "He's a Norse god, brother of Thor and the God of mischief apparently, his name is-"
"Loki." Andy breathed.
"Yes." Natasha said slowly as she studied Andy's reaction.
Andy sat back slightly to not disrupt Bruce and pursed her lips in thought, "Now that's interesting." She said softly and Natasha shivered slightly at the darkness in her words and you couldn't blame her for inside Andy's mind, rage was building.
A few hour later and the quinjet landed on the carrier.
Andy nudged Bruce awake, "Oui Doc. WAKE UP!" She said loudly.
Natasha paled slightly but Bruce just woke up normally and looked around with bleary eyes.
"Yo." Andy greeted as she handed his bag to him and watched as Natasha made her way out of the jet.
"Is it morning?" Bruce said as he stood to stretch before he took the bag.
"Yup." Andy answered, watching Bruce finish stretching and then taking the bag from her hands, "I told you you were tired."
Bruce frowned, "But you need sleep." He said.
"I'll sleep later." Andy said brightly, "I actually feel fine." She added quickly when Bruce shot her one his disapproving looks.
Bruce sighed in resignation, "How long do you think we're going to be here?" He asked her.
"Hopefully only a couple of days." Andy responded, "And I'm going to make sure you have a room next to mine because I can't bring myself to trust Nick right now." She paused, "Or ever."
Bruce nodded in agreement.
Suddenly Andy spotted a familiar and almost bald face, she jumped in excitement.
"Oh my goodness." Andy chimed, "Gimme two minutes lemme go say hello to Phil over there." She said pointing at the balding man.
Andy took Bruce's stuff because he might get nervous without her, especially being surrounded by military men and women so he would want to fiddle with his hands and having the bag would make it hard for him.
"Okay. But you don't have to carry-" but Andy already sped off.
"PHIL!" She cried out excitedly running over to him as he left a spiffy looking blond man.
She jumped and tackled him with a hug.
Phil hugged her back, "Good Morning." He
"I missed you." She said as she hugged him tightly, "And I would have missed you more if you had told me that Nicholas tagged me."
Phil sighed, "I'm sorry." He said quietly. "Do you want me to take it out." He offered.
Andy released him from her hug and fished through her pockets to reveal the small, finite disk that was the tag.
"Already did." She said grimly.
Phil's eyes widened, "But you had to have made an incision in your arm to get it out." He said.
"And I did." Andy replied, bringing her t-shirt sleeve up to reveal an almost fully healed scar on her forearm, "It hurt but I'll heal." She muttered bitterly.
"I'm sorry." Phil said.
"I am too." She said, "because I'm going to kick Fury's arse the second I see him."
Phil laughed but Andy looked at him hard, "I'm not joking."
Phil kept laughing, "I know, record it for me will you." He said as he headed for the brig.
Andy saluted, "Sir yes sir." She said as she turned back to Bruce who was currently talking to the spiffy blonde.
"Brucie." Andy waved at she made her way back to him.
He turned and waved when suddenly the carrier shook and rumbled causing Andy to fall forward when she was only a few steps away from Bruce and the blonde stranger.
She somersaulted twice and ended up with her face looking over the edge of the carrier.
"ANDY!" Bruce exclaimed as he took her from under her armpits to lift her up.
"Ma'am are you okay?" Came a low and masculine voice.
"I'm fine, I'm fine." She waved off and dusted herself, not really caring about her close encounter. She turned her attention to the waters below while they began churning erratically by something underneath.
"Is this a submarine?" The masculine man asked.
Andy giggled and poked Bruce in the stomach, "Really. They want you in a submerged pressurized vehicle?" She teased which won her a bewildered look from the masculine dude and a smile from Bruce so it was worth it.
Soon fast moving blades were seen above the water.
"Oh no this is much worse." Bruce said and Andy smiled.
"Oh Merlin." Andy breathed, "This is wonderful Bruce. I mean think of the possibilities, I could practice so much magic up here." she began rambling.
"Doctor Banner, Miss-." Interrupted the masculine man and both Bruce and Andy looked at him.
"Andromeda Nymphadora Lupin at your service Blonde." Andy said as she bowed dramatically.
"Nice to meet you." He said, "My name's Steve Rogers."
Andy's eyes widened slightly, "You're American Pie." She said, "Has Phil asked you to sign his Captain American trading cards? He's collected them all and they're vintage. He asks me clean every now and then, they're really nice, however he won't let me touch you, even though there's some foxing around the edges, because your mint." She began saying.
"No not yet." Steve said in a slightly flustered manner, "But I will if he asks."
"That's nice." She mused as she looked around a little more with Bruce.
"Miss Lupin may I ask what it is you do here?" Steve asked curiously as he spied her attire because she had pulled her cloak on when she was in the quinjet.
Andy started and saw Steve eyeing at her attire, she looked down and saw her dusty cloak that was hanging loosely on her frame, "Phil didn't tell you?" She asked.
Steve shook his head.
Andy hummed in thought, "I'm a specialist." She said finally.
"You work here?" Steve said, almost in shock.
Andy raised an eyebrow, "Problem?" She said challengingly.
Steve blushed, "No, i'm just surprised ma'am."
Andy stared at him and narrowed her eyes slightly until Bruce nudged her, "You're freaking him out." He muttered.
"Just because I'm a young women gives him no reason to belittle me." Andy whispered back to him heatedly.
Natasha came over, "Gentlemen," she said quickly interrupting the quiet conversation the two travelers were having.
Andy raised an eyebrow bemusedly.
"And Andy." Natasha added, "If you could follow me."
The three nodded and followed.
Two clear double doors opened automatically to the brig as Natasha, Steve, Bruce and Andy walked towards it.
The brig still had its alarming amount of computers and touch screens, but it all looked sleeker, and more refined. There was a lot of glass panels and that made the area look bigger then it was.
All around agents were chattering and communicating through their coms and it all seemed like utter chaos.
Andy blinked in surprise, "I didn't visit that often did I?" She muttered to Natasha.
"You haven't visited for six month's." Natasha said dryly.
Andy blushed, "Sorry," she apologized, "We've been busy."
Natasha nodded and looked at her skeptically, before moving to one of the computers.
Andy looked to Steve who had wandered to the side, marveling at the modern technology which caused her to roll her eyes and turn to Bruce.
The good doctor was currently fiddling with his hands as he looked around nervously and that made Andy sigh, immediately she walked over to him.
She bumped him playfully with her shoulder, "Calm down, you look like you just planted a bomb." She said.
"I am basically the bomb though aren't I?" Bruce retorted.
"Oh haha very funny." Andy said dryly, but let his comment slide because he had relaxed visibly. Andy looked around for something to get his mind off if everything.
She pointed at Steve, "Made a bet with Fury," She said as Steve went up to Fury with a ten dollar bill. "and lost the bet because Fury doesn't loose bets."
Bruce chuckled in amusement as he crossed his arms around himself.
Steve walked away from Fury and Fury began walking to the two.
"Doctor thank you for coming." Fury said as he brought his hand up for a shake.
Bruce looked at the outstretched hand warily before taking it, "Thanks for asking nicely." He said.
Fury turned to Andy, "Agent-"
Andy held up a hand to silence him before revealing her cut up forearm.
Fury stared at the cut and Andy looked at him smugly as she brought out the metal tag from her pocket.
She placed it in his hand, "Don't talk to me Nikki or I'll make warts grow on your nuts." She said sweetly as her hair began changing color rapidly and her eyes turned feral yellow for a brief second, "You. Tagged. Me." She growled, "Treat me like an animal again and I will end you."
Fury stepped back slightly and Bruce cleared his throat.
"So, umm, how long are we staying?" Bruce asked as he slowly got between they two.
Fury snapped back to business mode, "Once we get our hands on the Tesseract, you two are in the wind." He promised.
"Unless he tags me before I leave again because he decided that he wants to experience A grade pain." Andy muttered darkly as her hair turned jet black.
"So where are you with that?" Bruce intervened before Andy began ranting, "The Tesseract, I mean."
Fury pointed to Phil who was standing below deck.
Phil looked up at Bruce, "We're sweeping every wirelessly accessible camera on the planet cell phones, laptops, if its connected to a satellite it's eyes and ears for us." He explained.
"It's still not going to find him in time." Natasha added.
Bruce's eyebrows furrowed together as he figured out the flaws in their plan, "You need to narrow your field. How many spectrometers do you have access to?" He asked.
"How many are there?" Fury said smartly.
Andy came beside Bruce to look down at Phil, "You should call every lab you know and tell them to calibrate them for gamma rays." She said building off of where Bruce began.
"And tell them to put the spectrometers on the roof." Bruce added.
Andy blushed, "That would make more sense would it?" She said to him sheepishly.
Bruce smiled, "It's okay. You've learned a lot."
Andy rolled her eyes, "Now you realize." She huffed.
Bruce took off his coat and began to roll up his sleeves, "I'll rough out a tracking algorithm, basic cluster recognition,-" Bruce rambled.
"And then you decide to throw me off completely." Andy grumbled, as she took his coat from him to drop it in her satchel.
"-at least we could rule out a few places." Bruce said as he held back a smile.
Fury nodded in satisfaction.
"Do you have somewhere for me to work?" Bruce asked.
"Agent Romanov could you show Dr. Banner to his laboratory please."
Natasha came up, "You're going to love it Doctor, we've got all the toys." She said as she walked past him to led him to the lab area.
Andy and Bruce looked at each other before following the red head.
Andy walked up to Natasha, "Which lab is it?" She asked.
"Lab 8." Natasha answered with a smirk.
Andy grinned mischievously at Bruce and he looked at her with a bewildered look.
"After you finish the algorithm thingy, I'm dragging you to lab 7." She said.
"What's in lab 7?" Bruce asked as they continued walking.
Andy grinned like a Cheshire Cat, "My lab." She answered simply.
The three kept walking until they stopped at a lab.
Bruce looked the through the windows and his eyes widened.
"Hey Doc you're drooling." Andy tease.
Bruce scoffed, "it's just been a while. I'm mean I've read about changes in technology through newspaper but this is surreal." He murmured back to her.
Natasha swiped her card and stepped aside, Bruce and Andy walked in.
"Good luck Doctor Banner." Natasha said, she nodded to Andy, "Later."
Andy mock saluted and Natasha left.
Andy turned to Bruce and took his stuff, "I'll set up a room next to mine and probably shower and change. By the time I finish I'm guessing you'll have the basic tracking algorithm done?" She asked.
"Knowing you and how long you take showers I'll have the algorithm done and be able to scan for gamma rays manually." Bruce joked.
Andy stuck her tongue out at him, "See you in two hours Doc." She said before turning sharply on her heels and apparating to her room.
Andy landed in her room; falling from the air and safely onto her four poster bed.
She thoroughly scanned the room for an type of disturbances for five minutes as she checked, double checked and triple checked.
When she was satisfied with her clutter of papers, towers of records and groups of unfinished potions and tea, she sprung off from her bed and ran to her clothes drawer and picked up a burgundy cloak, leather fingerless gloves, damaged dark wash skinny jeans and a clean black tank top.
Andy then stepped into the shower and promptly stayed in for 44 minutes and 55 seconds.
She dried and then stared at the bathroom mirror and began flipping through different colors and shades before settling on a pixie cut electric blue, putting on the outfit she put out for herself.
When she was satisfied she walked out of her room to stare at a space on the wall next to her door and began to think about what she should do about Bruce's room.
"BRUCE!" Someone yelled.
Bruce jumped, eyes widening in surprise as his heart rate sped up.
"Oui! Calm down it's only me." Someone drawled and Bruce's eye landed on Andy.
He looked at her attire, "You look nice." Bruce said without thinking and immediately he began blushing.
Andy smiled timidly, "Umm, Thank you." She said, suddenly feeling shy as she morphed a blush of her own away.
She walked up to him and looked over his shoulder to see him scanning for more gamma signatures.
Andy hummed as she watched him work, "I made you a room." She said.
"Could you lead me there to shower?" Bruce asked.
Andy nodded her head at him as if he were stupid, "No I was going to let you wander the hall of a government facility. Of course i'm going to lead you there!" She exclaimed, "Honestly you can be so thick sometimes."
Bruce brought his hands up, "I'm sorry." He said in mock defense.
Andy smiled and pointed at the door, "Let's go." She said and she headed off with Bruce right behind her.
They went up two levels and Andy dragged Bruce left and right before stopping at two doors.
"The door on the right is yours," she said as she pointed at said door, "It's actually your room in Lavender Cottage but I just placed another door in your room that now leads you to here because I was lazy." She said as she eyed her work with a look of satisfaction.
"But what if the kids come through?" Bruce questioned.
"I-" Andy trailed off and waved her wand quickly a few times to cast a charm, "took care of it obviously." She scoffed scratching the back if her neck as she looked the other way.
Bruce yawned as he ran a hand through his mess of hair, "I'll be out in thirty minutes." He said.
Suddenly the speaker came on, "Agent Lupin," came Fury's from the speakers, "Come to the brig immediately we've found Loki."
Andy sighed in aggravation, "Great." She said flatly. "How about I go and kick some godly arse and be back with some jammy dodgers and milk?" She asked.
"In thirty minutes?" Bruce challenged.
Andy nodded, "Forty five minutes or I have to give you your own personal bag of Honeyduke's finest chocolate." She shot back as she glanced at her watch, "It is now 9:45pm, this challenge starts at 10pm."
"Deal." Bruce said and they shook hands.
When Andy was about to apparate Bruce stepped forward and hugged her, "Be careful." He said and Andy began to blush.
"I will." She promised her voice slightly choked up, as she hugged him back before turning on her heels quickly so Bruce didn't see her burning face.
"Stuttgart, Germany?" Andy said excitedly as she bounced on her heels inside a quinjet excitedly while Steve watched with a bewildered look on his face.
"Andy sit down you're scaring the Captain." Natasha drawled.
"Well he's in his first twenty-four hours with me so I don't blame him." Andy retorted, "Don't you remember how you were with me?"
"Shut up." Natasha muttered.
Andy tuck her tongue out her, "Grumpy pants."
"I'm wearing a cat suit there are no pants." Natasha said.
Andy groaned, "Sarcasm doesn't suit you." She said dryly.
"Yes it does." Natasha said happily.
Andy sat down finally, "Yes it does." She said in defeat and the plane filled with silence for a while, with Andy occasionally humming or knocking a tune or Steve talking quietly to Natasha.
Steve cleared his throat as he sat across from Andy, "So what are you going to do?" He asked when he spotted that she didn't have a weapon or another means of defense.
"Well I perform-"
"I'm dropping you two down here it looks like some serious stuff is going on down there." Natasha interrupted as she opened the hatch so they could jump onto a roof of a building.
"Don't get in my way and you'll find out." Andy said mysteriously.
Steve stood and walked to the hatch, ready to follow Andy until Natasha stopped him, "She's not kidding. Don't get in her way." She said seriously.
"But what is she going to do?" Steve asked in confusion.
Natasha smiled, "Just a little magic." She said before closing the hatch and flying away.
Steve sighed and ran down the building wondering what the young woman could be capable of.
When Andy and Steve got to the streets a whole crowd of people were kneel in the plaza all for an old man who was talking to a tall and slender man wearing leather and metal who Andy guessed to be Loki.
"There are no men like me." The god Loki laughed out.
"There are always men like you." The old man said strongly.
Steve advanced towards the god.
Loki scoffed, "Look to your elder people," he said as he pointed his staff at the old man, "let him be an example." And the god shot a ball of blue light at the man.
Suddenly Steve jumped in front of the light and deflected it with his shield and it hit Loki instead who unceremoniously fell down only to recover quickly.
"You know the last time I was in Germany and saw a man stand above everyone else, we ended up disagreeing." Steve said as he walked towards Loki.
Andy rolled her eyes from her spot on the sidewalk, "Stop talking and sack him." She muttered irritably but Steve didn't hear her.
"The soldier." Loki said with a manic grin on his face as he stood and laughed, "The man out of time."
"I'm not the one who's out of time." Steve said as Natasha brought the quinjet to align with Loki.
A machine gun came from the belly of the jet, "Loki stand down and drop the weapon." Natasha ordered.
Loki scoffed and shot a blue energy ball at the jet which caused Natasha to veer to the left.
Then the crowd of kneeling people dispersed in a panicked frenzy as Steve and Loki began fighting.
"Andy do something." Natasha hissed over the com.
"Why? Caps doing okay." Andy said lazily but walked towards the fight anyways twirling her wand in hand.
Loki now had Steve kneeling with the butt of his spear pressed agains the back of the soldier's head.
"Kneel before me." Loki hissed.
Steve kicked back and pushed the spear away, "Not today." He said and continued to fight.
Andy sighed "is it necessary to think of come backs." Andy muttered and turned on her heels quickly, apparating behind Loki.
When she appeared behind him, he was turning around in shock and she quickly sent a stunner at him, causing him to fall forward.
Steve looked at her with wide eyes, "But you were just over there!" He sputtered.
Andy shrugged, "Yeah well-" She trailed off as she twirled her wand in her hand.
Loki began to get up so Andy sent a stunner at his back, "What's with the golden horns?" She said as she began poking at them.
Loki made to get up again so Andy sat on him and pointed her wand threateningly at the base of his neck which the god froze at.
Suddenly ACDC blared out from the quinjet and Andy looked up to see a Gryfinndor colored metal suit.
The suit landed and looked as if it was going to shoot at Loki until realizing that the god was laying on him stomach with a girl sitting on him.
Steve walked beside the metal suit.
"Mr. Stark." Steve greeted.
"Captain." Tony replied.
"Andy." Andy mused.
The men looked at her.
"What just happened?" Steve asked her in bewilderment.
Andy looked at him lazily and swish/flicked her wand up which caused the Captain to levitate in the air.
The metal suit laughed in disbelief and Andy placed the good captain back down again"You were doing fine until he kicked your ass." She giggled at Steve.
Tony brought up his helmet, "Good evening, and you are?" He said.
Andy stood up and off of Loki before materializing a bowler hat and bowed dramatically, "Andromeda Nymphadora Lupin at your service but you can call me Andy. I'm a freelance specialist that kinda sorta works for SHIELD." She introduced.
"Tony Stark." Tony said smugly as if that explained everything.
Andy looked at Loki and flicked her wand up which caused his spear to come to her, which she caught with her left hand, "Yeah your the guy that Bruce likes reading about in the papers." She said as she examined the spear, "I think you even made it to the Prophet once." She murmured.
Andy looked up at Tony who was trying hard not to look surprised of her lack of knowledge about him, "I like your suit, people call you Iron Man, yeah?" She asked.
"Yeah." Stark said as he eyes at her wand, "I like your stick."
"It's a wand." She said as she laughed at his remark, "I'm a witch."
"A witch." Steve said flatly.
"Yes." Andy mused, "Now if you lovely gentlemen would kindly man handle the god who has surrendered himself to us and has patiently been waiting on the stairs for us to shush, I would appreciate it if we could crack on." She said, throwing a smile at them and marching of to the quinjet that Natasha had landed.
Tony looked on at Andy with a befuddled smile on his face, "She's different than most SHIELD agents isn't she," he muttered, "She's like a gender flipped Coulson."
Steve gave him a confused look and Tony just rolled his eyes as he picked Loki up and dragged him to the jet.
When the small party was properly set in the quinjet Cap struck up and conversation.
"I don't like it." He began.
"What don't you like? The fact that you're wearing a skin tight American flag or that golden horns over there gave up so easily." Andy said smoothly as she examined Loki's spear closely.
Tony chuckled at her remark.
"I don't remember it being that easy," Steve retorted, "This guy packs a wallop."
Andy rolled her eyes and continued to examine the spear, "Welcome to the future." She muttered.
Tony butted in, "Still you are pretty spry for an older fellow." He said, "What do you take Pilates?"
Steve threw him a confused look, "What?" He said.
"It's like a calisthenics." Tony explained, "You might have missed a few things doing time as a Capsicle."
"Meaning you should learn about what you've missed." Andy added dryly. She then looked at Tony, "And Capsicle was just mean." She drawled, "I think I'll use it one day." And she went back to her work.
"I like you." Tony said.
"That's good." Andy murmured, "A perfect start for the first day I think."
"Fury didn't tell me he was calling you in." Steve interrupted as he looked at Tony.
"Well Fury hasn't told people a lot of things." Andy said irritably before glancing at her watch.
10:35
Andy sighed, As long as nothing happens Bruce won't get fat. She thought as she closed her eyes and leaned back.
Why did you say a bag? Howler groaned in her head. Couldn't it have been a slab? Or a small box.
He likes them, Andy thought back in defense.
But is a whole bag necessary?! Howler moaned in denial.
I'm sorry! Andy said.
Suddenly thunder and lightning shook the jet and both Howler and Andy cringed.
"Where's this coming from." Natasha murmured.
"What's wrong scared of a little lightning?" Steve said to Loki.
Loki looked around nervously, "No, but I'm not overly fond of what follows." He shot back.
Andy groaned, "Your brother? Why now?" She said exasperatedly as she flinched slightly at another shock of lightning lit the night sky outside.
Loki looked at Andy with interest and Tony opened the hatch at the back.
Suddenly a burly blonde man with a majestic red cape came in through the open hatch took Loki by the neck and flew out.
On the up side the lightning stopped.
Andy was still in a slight daze when she heard Tony say something about attacking and flying off to follow the Asguardians.
Andy stood and combed through her hair, "Great that's just great now I have to fly down just in case Stark gets the wrong idea and starts a fight with a thunder god." She mutter bitterly as she picking up her broom and fell out of the hatch.
"Ms Lupin." Steve exclaimed but then looked out side in shock as she saw the young woman fly towards the Tony on a broom.
"She'll be fine but you should sit this one out Cap, those guys are legend they're basically gods." Natasha said as she turned the jet the other way.
Steve shrugged on a parachute, "I believe in only one god ma'am and I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that." He said before jumping out of the jet.
Andy touched down and looked up to see both the thunder god and Iron man crash though some helpless tree.
"I should probably do something." Andy said as she watched the two throw punches at each other.
"Um..Hey can you two stop?" Andy started.
Thor bashed heads with Tony which sent him flying back.
"Can't we go get Loki and head back to the carrier." Andy tried again.
Tony flew forwards and threw Thor into a tree that almost fell on top of Andy had she not moved.
Andy rolled her eye, "Oh for gods sake." She muttered irritably has Thor was about to smash his hammer down upon Tony's arc reactor.
Andy apparated behind Thor, brought her right arm back and delivered a rather beautiful punch to his face, sending the god stumbling backwards a bit
Andy groaned and stood up right, "I am never doing that again." she hissed as she shook her right hand to restore feeling to it, she looked down at Tony"And stop fighting, Thor is perfectly capable of-" suddenly Tony grabbed her and flew up just as Thor hammer was about to connect with her face.
"Holy hell." Andy breathed when Tony dropped her down.
"You're welcome." Tony said through his suit.
Andy walked towards Thor, "Thanks, I'm going to go beat him up now." She said dry.
Andy looked at Thor and waved, "Yeah Hi, thanks for almost killing me." Andy said cheerily and Thor gave her a bewildered look as she took out her wand.
"Incarserous." Andy muttered and chains tied themselves around the god.
Sadly Thor ripped through them and picked his hammer up again.
"Put the hammer down." Andy said pointing wand at him threateningly, "Our I'll trap you in something stronger."
"Yeah, uh no. He loves his stupid hamm-" Tony began before being hit bumpy Thor's hammer
"You want me to put the hammer down?" Thor challenged as he jumped high in to the air to deliver a powerful blow to Andy.
Andy stood there with her wand pointing up as she quickly began to speak an incantation before she was pushed to the ground.
She was about to get up to yell at whoever pushed her until a explosively loud bang erupted from the impact of Steve's shield and Thor's hammer.
Andy yelled and covered her ears at the noise.
When the noise died down Andy heard Steve say something along the line of 'are we done here.'
"What the actual fuck." She almost screamed, her voice muffled to her ears. She stood and dusted herself off. Her ears ringed painfully, "I'm temporarily deaf now." She hissed.
Steve looked at her eyes and Andy closed them, "Yes they change color they do that sometimes." She said as she controlled her temper.
"I'm a witch, what do you not understand. I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself." She continued looking at him angrily.
"He was going to kill you." Steve argued in exasperation.
"No, I was going to freeze him with a charm and then haul him onto the jet while explain how we're the supposed good guys." She snapped as she read his lips.
Thor stubbled up to Andy, all the fury he had gone, "My apologizes fair maiden." He said as he finally took notice of the the SHIELD emblem on one of her gloves, "I had know idea you worked along side the Son of Coul."he added as he looked at her curiously.
Andy sighed as she tried to understand what he was saying, "It's fine go collect your brother you can ride in the quinjet." She muttered.
Thor nodded and flew off to locate his brother once more.
Steve remained silent.
Andy sighed as she summoned her broom, "I'll see you at the quinjet." She said to the soldier, before trudging off into the woods when she saw the jet waiting there muttering something about going to Tesco's and custard creams.
Steve sighed and Tony walked up to him, "She was actually doing fine by the way." He said, "have a little faith Capsicle." He said slapping him on the back and walking to the jet.
Steve follow irritably as he saw Thor land near the jet with Loki draped over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
How was he going to work with these people. He thought as kept walking.
When the new party of seven were situated in the quinjet they took off.
Andy glanced at her watch again,
10:50pm.
"Damn everything." Andy muttered as she stood up to talk to Natasha.
"I need to go." Andy said flatly.
"Go where." Natasha asked.
"Tesco's." Andy replied.
"For what?" Natasha asked in bewilderment.
"Milk, jammy dodgers and a bag of Honeyduke's finest." Andy listed, "I promised Bruce. We made a bet."
"Okay, can you get me some firewhisky?" Natasha asked.
Andy stared at her companion before smiling sadly, "It's Clint isn't it." She said softly.
"It'll keep me from punching Loki's face." Natasha growled.
"Sure I'll get a bottle, I wanted a drink anyways, I can't handle all this stupid." Andy said gesturing at Steve.
"Cut him some slack, he's seventy years behind." Natasha said.
"Yes but he's had some time to study up to at least the last ten years. Thor is an exception because he lives in another dimension thingy so I'm just pissed that he's not trying." She ranted.
"Okay, okay." Natasha said, "See you back at the carrier."
Andy nodded, "Yeah, bye." She said walking to the middle of the Quinjet.
"See ya boys." She said cheekily before spinning sharply on her heels and disappearing with a loud pop.
Tony blinked, "Where did she go?" He asked.
"Probably somewhere in London or something." Natasha said airily as she glanced at the billionaire.
"What!?" Tony said.
"She's a witch, she does what she wants." Natasha replied before turning her attention back to the console.
Bruce was recording data in his temporary lab when suddenly he felt a chill travel down his spine. He looked up expecting Andy but instead his eyes landed on a man being escorted by multiple gunmen.
The man locked eyes with Bruce and smile maniacally and suddenly Bruce didn't feel too good.
The scientist brought a hand to his glasses and was about to take them off until he heard a loud crack.
His head snapped to the left and he could have sworn he saw a look of shock cross the mysterious man's face until the guards ushered him away.
"Brucie, you won the bet, here's your bag of Honeyduke's finest." came the cheery voice of Andy as well as the thump of the packet of custard creams hitting the table.
Bruce smiled and took off his glasses to rub the bridge of his nose.
"Hey what's wrong?" Andy said as she came over to him and placing herself on a chair.
"Nothing." Bruce muttered, "Just some guy passed by and gave me the chills, it's silly."
"Did he look like this." Andy said as she morphed herself into Loki.
Bruce nodded and went to open his chocolate bag.
"Then it's not nothing it's something you lump." Andy said, knocking his head as a reprimand. "If I recall he's a Norse god that's rather good at magic."
Bruce hummed in thought as chewed on a truffle of chocolate.
"Are you all right?" Andy asked.
"Fine, I just had a headache." Bruce muttered, flashing Andy a smile as he glanced at his work again.
"Dr. Banner, Agent Lupin, come to the brig immediately." Came Maria's voice through the loud speaker.
Andy and Bruce sighed, "Lets go." Andy said glumly, taking her packet of jammy dodgers as she stood.
Bruce raised an eyebrow.
"Eating during a meeting always pisses Nicholas off, it's funny." Andy remarked as she walked to the door.
Bruce followed and Andy linked arms with him.
"Shall we go Doctor?" Andy said poshly.
"Yes we shall." Bruce said in a similar voice and they marched out the door.
