Kara felt bored. In fact, she felt bored to death. As she walked through the park, she swatted at a butterfly which whisked by her in the warm breeze. She scratched the top of her head, as her brown "disguise" wig was irritating her something terrible, and she exhaled as loudly as she could. As she looked around her calm, tranquil, peaceful surroundings, she sighed even louder, making the sigh turn into a groan. Nothing exciting had been happening at all since she'd been patrolling all day. Absolutely nothing. She walked over to a nearby fountain and plopped down.

"Of course nothing ever exciting happens when Clark's away!" Kara mumbled out loud. She grunted. "Figures."

After tracing a tiny pebble with her finger, she suddenly brightened, whipping out her cell phone from her pocket. "Hey, I know! I'll call Gotham and see if they need any help with anything!" Kara knew Barbara was always up to her chin in criminals and crime. They always seemed to have things going on there on any given day, and Kara would much rather do a little away trip for some action then sit around and do nothing. Her smile slowly faded, though, and she slowly put the phone back into her pocket. "Aw, I can't call them begging for work. How lame is that." She sighed again, and lay down on the edge of the fountain. "Lame lame lame. Almost as lame as this boring day, where nothing exciting will ever happen in a million years!"

Not too far away from Kara's whining, Sophie, Ivy, and Harley had made their way to the construction site, and were gazing up in awe. Sophie took in a deep, nervous breath. In all honesty, she hadn't realized just how high up it actually was, and she almost reconsidered her plan, even if she had felt so proud for "thinking of it" in the first place. From the looks of it, the building seemed to go on forever. Sophie wasn't sure, but she was almost certain it was as high as the clouds in some parts, which only made her stomach churn. The ladder which went up to one of the beams was tall, thin, and extremely rickety-looking, almost as if a stray breeze would knock it over. Ivy was even less thrilled about the idea now, especially after seeing just what Sophie was going to be "playing" on.

Ivy looked from the building to Sophie, and shook her head. "Okay, can I just say that this is the worst idea you've ever had, darling? The absolute worst. This is a definite no-go. No way are you going through with this."

Sophie gasped, loudly. "Say what?"

"Aw, come on, Red!" said Harley with a nervous, not-very-reassuring chuckle. "I-it's not...so bad." Even Harley was having second thoughts about it, now. But, she knew how much Sophie wanted to do it, and she wanted to be supportive of her little one, so she tried to push the danger out of her mind.

Ivy scoffed and held her hand up, motioning to Sophie's playground. "Not so bad? You're joking, right? I wouldn't put Batman up there, let alone our kid!"

Sophie grinned and bit her lip, slyly. "Your kid?"

Ivy shook her head quickly. "Y-you know what I mean!"

Sophie just continued to grin. She took out her hair ties and re-did her hair into high pigtails once more, just for good measure. Ivy couldn't help but notice just how much Sophie resembled Harley with her hair that way, which was probably one more thing she had managed to "take" after her.

"All I'm saying is, there has got to be an easier way of finding out if Superman is here or not.," Ivy said. "A way that doesn't involve Sophie risking her life!"

"But if you think about it, Red, we risk our lives on a daily basis," Harley pointed out. "I mean we got car chases, bombs, guns, explosives, you name it!"

"Exactly. And that's why I think we can come up with something new and different, and less dangerous," Ivy said.

"But this is new and different, Red!" Harley said, enthusiastically. "I mean, she ain't got no explosives or nothing...she's just gonna be waltzing around up there, real casual-like."

Sophie looked from Harley to Ivy as they bickered back and forth. She watched like a ping-pong match, her head going back and forth between the two of them. But she had to admit, she was getting tired of it.

"Casual-like?" Ivy exploded. "There is nothing casual about dancing around on top of an unfinished building, Harl!"

"That's why it's new and different," Harley said, matter-of-factly. "My clever little cupcake just took my idea and made it her own. I taught her well, didn't I?"

Ivy sighed. "You taught her, alright. And now I'm gonna unteach her. I'm putting my foot down this time. We're gonna figure something else out. So, Sophie," Ivy said, turning to where Sophie had been moments before. When she was nowhere to be found, both Harley and Ivy gasped.

Sophie had indeed gotten tired of listening to her friend's fighting, so she took it upon herself to begin climbing the ladder which led to the tallest beam.

"Oy vey!" Harley cried, as she and Ivy raced over to the ladder, which Sophie had already halfway climbed up. Harley looked at Ivy and inhaled deeply, taking a huge gulp before she spoke. "I sure hope she knows what she's doing."

"I sure hope I know what I'm doing," Sophie mumbled to herself as she slowly but carefully continued to place one foot after the other.

As she climbed higher and higher, she began to feel dizzy and light-headed. She gulped in a huge breath and gripped onto the ladder as tightly as she could. She could feel her palms sweating, which only made her grip tighter. The last thing she wanted to do was lose her grip and come tumbling down to the ground.

"Oh, Ivy was right. This is the worst idea I've ever had," Sophie said out loud, half hoping Ivy really would hear it. As she reached the top of the ladder, she carefully stepped off, her knees trembling. She mistakenly looked down, and she froze in terror. "Oh, shiiiiii-take mushrooms!" She yelped, crouching down on the top of the beam.

From as high up as Sophie had climbed, Ivy and Harley seemed to be a million miles away. They looked as tiny as ants. She felt her blood run cold and as she knelt down on the top of the beam, she took in strong, deep breaths of air. Sophie knew she just needed to calm herself down before she moved an inch, or she might really get hurt. She shut her eyes as tightly as she could and started thinking happy thoughts until her breathing became normal again. After a few moments, Sophie opened her eyes and stood up, wiping her clammy palms on her dress. She glanced down again and found it easier to handle, and a small smile appeared on her face. Now she was feeling absolutely alright.

"Pssh, I got this, no problem!" Sophie said out loud, holding her hands out like a tightrope walker. As she walked across the beam, she burst into a huge grin. "Hey, this is just like in gymnastics! This really is a piece of cake! I knew it!"

Harley and Ivy watched from below as Sophie walked and spun around the top of the beam with ease. Fortunately they hadn't been able to see her moment of panic, otherwise both girls might have had a panic attack themselves.

Harley grinned at Ivy upon seeing Sophie's act go off "without a hitch," and she elbowed her in the ribs. "There, ya see, Red? Don't underestimate the power of the Crazy Clown Chicks. We can handle ourselves."

Ivy had to smile at her friend. "You are a crazy clown chick, that's for sure!"

Harley grinned back. "And now comes our fun part," she said. "Let's get this panic party started!"

The construction site was a little ways away the street and the park, but that didn't stop Harley from letting out a loud, panicked shriek that got people's attention.

"Oh, oh look! There's a little kid playing up there!" Harley dashed to the street and pointed towards the site. She grabbed a few people and dragged them towards it. "Look there! What are we gonna do?"

Some of the other passers-by had heard what Harley had said, and they gasped in horror, dashing over to the site as well. When they noticed Sophie carelessly walk, spin, and jump high above them, the rest of the people began shouting, too.

"Look, there really is a kid up there!" cried a woman, in a panic.

"Somebody has to help her, before she gets hurt!" cried another.

"Isn't there anyone who can help?" yelled Ivy, trying her best not to break into a grin. Her eyes got big and she began shouting in in hysterics, trying to work everyone else up even more. "Help! We need help! Quick!"

Sophie did another little spin and looked down, bursting into a grin as she noticed the crowd of people standing below. She was amazed by just how many people Harley and Ivy had "convinced" there was real trouble.

"Come on, Stuperman, where the heck are you? I'm getting bored already," Sophie said, doing two graceful cartwheels in a row, her hair bouncing. "Hm. Well...what next? Maybe, a sommersault with my eyes closed?" She looked down at the ground and put her finger to her lip. "Uh, m-maybe next year." She spun around a few times and balanced on one foot. She broke into a huge grin. "And now, the ever-so-talented Olympic gymnast Sophie Quinzel will now attempt...will now do a one-footed cartwheel!" Sophie burst into giggles as she prepared to flip. "It's gonna be a...a flamingo cartwheel," Sophie said, doing her best mock TV announcer voice. She performed her one-footed carthwheel without a hitch, and sighed as she spun around, doing a second one without missing a beat. "And now, a one-handed cartwheel!" Sophie flipped a cartwheel with no hands with ease. "And now, three aerials in a row!" She easily did a three cartwheels with no hands across the beam. "And she did it, ladies and gentlemen! Sophie Gabriela Quinzel, the lowly kid from Gotham City, New Jersey, is now the youngest person in Olympic History to win gold for the USA! This kid can do anything!" She walked across the beam, slowly. "Everything except find a Superman," she mumbled, stepping over the ladder. "Aw man, this is so bor-"

Suddenly, without warning, Sophie's foot accidentally got caught in the edge of the ladder, knocking it down. She gasped in shock as she lost her lost her balance after tripping over the ladder. She just barley managed to catch the edge of the beam with her hands before she fell, as well. People gasped and jumped out of the way as the ladder crashed to the ground. Harley and Ivy gasped, too, but this time, in real terror as they saw Sophie hanging dangerously from the end of the beam. That was definitely not part of the plan at all.

"Oh my God!" Harley and Ivy cried together, in real panic.

Sophie could barely breathe as she held on for dear life. Her fingers were aching, and she tried with all her might to pull herself up, but she wasn't able to swing her leg over the beam. "Uh-oh," she said, gulping loudly. "Please! S-somebody help!" She cried, her voice shaking. "Help!"

Kara had abandoned her "fountain patrol" and continued to walk through the park. She had almost finished walking through, when she noticed a large crowd gathered near the construction site. She heard screams for someone to help. She burst into a gigantic happy grin. "Finally!" She jumped into a nearby bush, and in a flash, she reappeared in her Supergirl costume. Without wasting a second, she quickly flew over, landing next to a older couple.

"Supergirl!" cried an old man, sighing with relief.

"It's about time one of you showed up!" Ivy hissed angrily, as she and Harley huffed over to her.

"Get your butt up there and get that kid down!" cried Harley, grabbing Kara's arm and pointing to Sophie, who was still dangling from the beam. "And make it snappy!"

Kara gasped as she saw Sophie, and she prepared to fly up to grab her, but to the horror of everyone watching, Sophie lost her grip just then and with a loud scream, started to fall. In the blink of an eye, Kara had flown up and caught Sophie in her arms, mid-air, before she had even fell halfway to the solid ground.

Sophie's heart was beating wildly, and as Kara flew down again, she could barely speak out of pure terror. It was all Harley could do not to run and grab Sophie into a hug, but she and Ivy hung back as far as they could as Kara set Sophie on the ground. They couldn't risk blowing their cover now, even as much as they yearned to. The crowd cheered and praised Supergirl for her quick response time and swiftness.

Kara looked down at Sophie, whose eyes were still wide with actual fright. Kara crossed her arms over her chest and cleared her throat. "Just what do you think you were doing up there, kid?" She asked, attempting her best Superman "scolding."

"Gymnastics," Sophie mumbled, putting both her hands behind her back, embarrassingly.

"What?" Kara cried, her mouth dropping open. "You could have been killed by doing a wreckless thing like that!" She sounded ridiculous even to herself, but she wanted the citizens of her city to see and hear that she could be just as strict as Superman could. She noticed the people of Metropolis mumble and nod their heads in agreement, which is exactly what she had been hoping for. "Construction sights are no places for little kids like you to play."

Sophie stared at her feet. "Gee, Supergirl, I'm really sorry. You're right. I should have never ever gone up there." She kicked the ground with one of her feet and looked up, innocently. Her fluffy pigtails really did the trick when it came to making her look just as "innocent" as could be, and Sophie almost broke character when she realized how golden it really was. "I promise I'll never do it again!"

Kara smiled and patted Sophie's head, gently. "That's good to hear. Just try and be a little more careful next time, okay honey?"

Sophie grinned. "Oh, I will!"

As Kara turned to leave, Sophie reached out and grabbed her arm. "Supergirl? I...I just wanna say thank you so very much for saving me. I'm so lucky somebody as brave and strong and smart and pretty like you were here."

Kara smiled and gave a little chuckle. "Aw shucks, kid. It was nothing, really. If Superman weren't away right now, he'd have come just as fast as me. I'm just doing my job!" Kara gave Sophie one last pat on her head before she flew away in a cloud of dust.

Sophie grinned slyly. "So am I."

The crowd began to disperse after Kara flew away, and Harley and Ivy, hoping to keep up the charade in case anyone would be suspicious, also left the scene, pretending to "go about their business." An elderly woman hobbled over to Sophie and began scolding her and chastising her for playing near such dangerous place.

Sophie continued her act and stuck out her bottom lip, pathetically. "I know, Ma'am. It's just...I love gymnastics so much, and I wanted to practice somewhere. You see, I don't have any money to pay for lessons." Sophie paused for a moment and sniffed loudly. "Or for food."

The old woman gasped and reached inside her purse. She pulled out her pocketbook and stated handing money to Sophie, clicking her tongue and saying how much of a poor little thing she was. Sophie's lip continued to stick out until the woman had given her almost all the money she had. As she placed the pocketbook back inside her purse, Sophie smiled.

"Oh, thank you so much, Ma'am!" Sophie reached over and gave the woman a long, warm hug. After a moment, they released each other, and the woman told Sophie to run along home because it was getting dark.

After everyone had finally left, Harley and Ivy rushed back over to Sophie as fast as they could. Harley and Ivy threw their arms around Sophie the moment they reached her.

"Oh my God, you are never doing anything like that again, do you hear me?" Harley said, angrily. "If you had gotten killed I...I would have killed you!"

Sophie giggled despite being hug-crushed by her friends. "Aw, it was a piece of cake!"

Ivy shook her head again and poked Sophie's stomach with a playful smile. "A piece of cake, my foot! Next time, it's gonna be my plan!"

Sophie giggled again. "But my plan worked didn't it? Supergirl said Superman isn't even in Metropolis right now, so all we'd have to deal with is her...and that old lady gave me loads of cash," she thrust the money to Ivy with one hand, then with her other hand, produced the pocketbook she had swiped from the woman. "Plus," she added with a giggle, "A little something extra for us on the side!"

Ivy grinned and put her arm around Sophie, giving her another tight squeeze. "I gotta hand it to ya, kid. Even if you had some...major setbacks, you did good."

Sophie's heart swelled with glee. The Joker had hardly ever told she or Harley they had ever done anything good. She wasn't used to getting praised on things she'd done, especially if the plan hadn't gone exactly as they hoped. Sophie had to admit, getting told she did something good felt really, really great.

Harley grabbed the money out of Ivy's hand with a chuckle. "So what do you dolls say to a nice, fancy dinner?" She narrowed her eyes with a sneaky grin as she gazed at the city skyline. "Then we can really get down to business."
