Chapter 10
Link woke with a familiar lump in the bed next to him, "Morning, Zellie,"
"Morning, Link, I fancy some breakfast, shall we?" Zelda said standing up from the bed forcing Link to stifle his giggles
"Sure but you'll have to put some clothes on so you don't arouse Dark!" Link said through fits of laughter
Zelda looked down and squealed grabbing the duvet from the bed and covering herself with it, "Where are my clothes?"
"In the corner," Link said calmly getting up and searching his drawers for his school sports kit.
The sports kit was simple, white shorts and a white short sleeved top with one coloured stripe across the middle, red, green or blue depending on which house they were in. Link's had a green stripe because he was in Farore house. Zelda was in Nayru house so had a blue stripe
Link and Zelda crept downstairs trying not to wake anyone up, but were met by the twin glares of Dark, wore the same clothes as Link and Aryll who was in casual clothes. "What did I do?" Link asked genuinely confused. Dark and Aryll exchanged glances.
"Get some breakfast then we'll tell you," Aryll said
"Okay…" Link said, walking over to the table where four places were set for eating, "Why all the effort for breakfast?"
"Well we had plenty of time to do this last night," Aryll said, still glaring at her brother while Dark grinned at Zelda
"Why?" Zelda asked cautiously
"Cause you two hump like elephants!" Dark said cheerily, making both Link and Zelda's faces go bright red.
"Uhh… we…ahh…umm…" Link said, looking at the floor
"If you're going to stay the night more often, Princess you need to get that room soundproofed!" Dark said, winking at Zelda
After breakfast Aryll and Dark broke the news to Link that it was sports day. "Dark?" Link said holding his head
"Yeah, bro?" Dark said
"Bring your rucksack…" Link knew this was a mistake but Link wouldn't feel safe if he wasn't protected from Ruto,
"You mean it?" Dark asked hopefully
"Yep… and bring Clyde, I may need to borrow him and put my sword and that mask in," Link thought that a rock shooting ally could really help against Ruto
"But… Clyde hates you…" Aryll said, overhearing the conversation
"I just need to tame him, what does he eat?" Link asked
"Hmm… Rocks, conkers, people…" Dark said
"People?" Zelda asked, an eyebrow raised
"Yeah but he's just a baby so he could probably only manage a toddler or two." Dark said thoughtfully
"Right we need to go," Link said, ignoring Dark's last comment
Kafei picked the friends up and drove them to school in relative silence. Most of the occupants of Kafei's van were dreading sportsday.
Link, Dark and Kafei walked up to Ralph and Saria, who were waiting for them outside on the playing fields, "Hey guys!" Saria said cheerily
"Your disgustingly cheerful for sports day, Saria," Kafei said, clearly in the same mind set as Link
"Yes well today is the day when I get sit back, relax and watch Ruto harassing Link!"
"Shit I forgot about Ruto, has she seen me?" Link said, frantically looking around and ducking slightly
"Na, don't worry!" Ralph said
"Phew!" Link said, wiping his brow
"So, any idea if Sheik is gonna make an appearance today?" Saria asked
"No, he said that he had sports day at his own school…" Link said, covering for Zelda
Dark took this as his time to strike, he shot a mischievous smirk at Link, "So Link, how was Zelda last night?"
Link instantly straightened up, "Dark… you bastard…" Dark grinned and waited for everyone else to do the real damage
"You spent the night with Zelda?" Ralph asked surprised that Link had finally made the move
"They were so loud!" Dark dramatically put his hand to his head, "Me and Aryll could not get to sleep, and from the sounds of it they didn't get much sleep either!"
"You kept Aryll awake!" Saria was now giggling uncontrollably
Link went bright red and he gave Dark a vicious elbow to the ribs, "I hate you!"
"I know," Dark said grinning "but you slept with royalty and the world needs to know!"
"No they don't!" Link said
"You what!?" not too far away Zelda was in a similar situation to Link
"I… uh…" Zelda said, looking at her feet
"Me and Dark got no sleep at all!" Aryll said, hoping that Dark was doing the same thing as she was
"Poor you, while you were humping the night away, did you spare no thoughts for the other residents of the house?" Anju asked mockingly
"Umm… uh…" Zelda replied
"Could Farore's competitors in the 100 metre race please make their way to the running track!" The headmaster shouted through the PA system
"That's us, Dark!" Link said grabbing Dark by the arm, "Saved by the bell!"
"Let's go watch!" Saria said following them closely
"Kafei's already gone to compete," Ralph said as he walked slowly after Saria
Link, Dark, Kafei and three other boys lined up on the starting line, ready to go. "On your marks," the teacher at the starting line said, "get set," Link and Dark leaned forwards slightly, "Go!" all six boys sprinted off the starting line but two figures started to break ahead.
"Go Link!" Link's friends shouted from the side lines
"Go Link's creepy brother!" the people Dark had slept with shouted
Link and Dark were side by side running completely in sink, both were trying desperately to overtake the other but neither was successful, "1st place goes to Link and Dark Hero!" the Headmaster announced, "Next are the swimming events so could all participants please make their way to the pool?"
"Hey, Link, well done!" a familiar feminine voice called over to Link
Link sighed and Dark's grin grew even wider, "Hello, Ruto!" Dark greeted
"Hi, Link's brother," Ruto replied
"Socially retarded brother," Link corrected under his breath
"Hey, Link!" Ruto said, flirtatiously batting her eyelids
"uh… is something wrong with your eyes?" Dark asked sounding genuinely anxious
"No…" Ruto said seemingly put down
"So, Link… what are you doing after school?" Ruto asked, looking down at her feet and blushing slightly
"Sorry Ruto bu-" Link began before he was cut off by Dark
"Link and the princess are in an intimate sexual relationship so I'm afraid he's taken!" Dark helped
"uh…" Link said, unable to come up with words
"Love rival!" Ruto said under her breath
"Are you alright?" Link asked
"Yes…" Ruto said
"Oh good! Let's go to swimming then!" And with that the trio walked in the general direction of the swimming pool, Dark grinning widely all the way.
Link, Dark and Ruto went into the changing rooms (Ruto went to the girls changing room and Link and Dark went to the boys changing room). When they emerged they went to the poolside and got ready to go.
Link looked at the other competitors, it was a mixed gender event so on the left was Ruto, then Mikau (who had won for three years in a row), Darmani, Ralph, Dark and then Link himself. The teacher, in this case Miss Nabooru, stood by the side of the pool, on your marks get set go!"
6 figures dived off the diving blocks into the water, 5 of them continued to swim; one figure just splashed and thrashed in the water, "Dark what are you doing?!", Kafei shouted from the side lines.
"Umm… I never learned to swim…" Dark muttered as he walked along the bottom of the pool. Link winked at him as he swam past him for the second time
"In first place is… Mikau, then Ruto, Link, Ralph, Darmani and Dark is yet to finish…" Miss Nabooru walked over to Dark who was standing in the shallow end, "Get out," she ordered
"Ok…" Dark said, seemingly put down but then he looked up, his trademark grin returning to his face, "But may I just say that you are looking mighty fine today!"
Nabooru sighed, she had dealt with Dark before and had decided that ignoring him was the best course of action, "Out!" she said pointing to changing rooms
"Fine…" Dark climbed out of the water and walked over to the changing room smiling and waving at the crowd who were clearly laughing at him not with him.
Ruto walked up to Zelda, after she had gotten changed back into her running kit and hissed, "Love rival…"
Zelda felt extremely unnerved straight away and backed up slightly, "What do you mean?"
"Love rival…" Ruto repeated
"Uh… I'm just going to go now..." Zelda hurriedly walked off to find Link
"Could the participants in the tug of war please make their way to the… uh… place with the rope…" The headmaster announced and the sound of paper crumpling as the headmaster, presumably he was trying to find out where the tug of war was meant to be.
"That guy has no clue…" Zelda muttered as she retreated from Ruto who was glaring at her from behind.
"Psst, Dark" Aryll hissed from a crowd of students
Dark instantly turned round and walked towards her, clearly spotting where she was hiding in the crowd, "Hi!" Dark saw that she had his backpack.
"Hey, Dark. Listen, I told the girls, did you tell the guys?" Aryll asked
"Yeah, and Saria," Dark replied
"Good. Now, fulfil your end of the deal!" Aryll said
"Straight to business, I like it!" Dark said taking his bag off Aryll and unzipping he paused for a second and looked at her, "Ready?"
"I was born ready!" Dark looked at her and grinned clearly he was rubbing off on Aryll. Dark looked in to his bag and took out a cage and then he handed it to Aryll who eagerly opened it and Clyde jumped out into her arms and she hugged him tightly.
"Be careful with him around other people," Dark warned
"Okay! Thanks!" Aryll said hugging Dark, "Oh but how will other people react to him?"
"Well, most people will see him for what he really is but will refuse to believe it and will presume he's a dog or something because they can't perceive him properly." Dark said
"Oh… ok!" Aryll said, grinning at Clyde and skipping off through the crowd
Dark grinned to himself and walked hastily back to Link and his friends. "Where did you go?" Link asked
"Meh, nowhere," Dark said very aware of Link's unbelieving gaze
"Why is no one at the tug of war… area?" The headmaster asked rhetorically through the PA, "hurry up and get your asses over there now!"
"He's pissed!" Saria giggled
"Na he's just old, he probably doesn't know what day it is…" Kafei sighed
"We should probably go before he chokes on his dentures, shouting into that mic!" Ralph said between laughs, everyone else just sent him worried looks
"Yeah, where is it?" Link asked, ignoring Ralph
"At 'the tug of war… area'" Saria quoted
"Wow… that was really unhelpful," Link muttered
"Yeah," Kafei agreed
"You know we've been standing at the tug of war place for quite a while…" Saria sighed, pointing over her shoulder to a rope lain across the floor
Link sighed, "Right, I think it's Farore and Nayru first… so… that's well all of us and some of the girls…"
The group nodded. Saria, Link and Dark went to one end of the rope, while Ralph and Kafei, who were in Nayru house went to the other end of the rope. Link's side was joined shortly by two more girls who Link didn't recognise.
Ralph's side was joined by Zelda, Anju and Ruto. "I see that all the participants are here!" Mr Darunia, one of the sports teachers boomed, "The teams must contain two boys and three girls!" Darunia looked at both teams, nodded then continued, "Take the strain!" Darunia held the rope up in exactly the middle of the two teams and both teams leaned back, ready to pull, "Three, two, one… Heave!"
Both teams started to pull on the rope. The girls on both teams seemed to be pretty equal in strength, so the boys would decide who won with their own strength, Link and Dark vs Kafei and Ralph. Both teams new that Dark was as strong as Link and Link was much stronger than Kafei and Ralph.
Slowly but surely the rope started to move and then it picked up speed and Nayru house let go of the rope, causing Link's team to both win and fall over to the cheers of the on looking crowd.
"Next is Nayru and Din!" Darunia said. The two teams lined up, "Take the strain! Three, two, one. Heave!" The two teams pulled and almost instantly Nayru house's member started to fall over and get dragged across the floor much to crowd's amusement.
"Din house wins! Now Farore and Din!" The two teams went to the rope and got into position, "Take the strain! Three, two, one. Heave!"
The Din's house team was led by Darmani, who was the size of a UPS truck. So the end result was inevitable, but Farore house's team put up much more of a fight than Nayru but they simply could not move Darmani or the rest of his team. Darmani just took three paces back and Link's entire team fell to the floor, "Aww shit!" Link exclaimed and then swiftly covered his mouth as Darunia gave him an angry glare.
Once Sports day was over, Link, Dark, Aryll and Zelda decided to go to Navi's Coffee Hut, mainly so that Link could shout at Dark and Aryll for telling the entire school about him and Zelda and also the fact that Dark gave Aryll a psychopathic octarock.
"Dark you're an absolute bastard!" Link shouted attracting lots of attention
"That's a bit much!" Dark said
"No its not!" Link said which was punctuated by Clyde firing a rock at him, "I hate that tool!"
"Give him your cookie," Aryll suggested and held Clyde out in front of her
Link picked up his cookie and looked at it forlornly as he fed it to Clyde who looked at him, Link winced and waited for the rock but none ever came instead he looked down and saw Clyde standing there looking at him, "Sit," Link commanded and to his surprise Clyde sat. Link grinned and pointed at Dark, "Attack!" Link grinned when Clyde fired a rock at him, "Revenge is sweet!"
The group chatted for a while longer, mostly Link ranting at Dark and bonding with Clyde. When they finally left, to Navi's eternal joy, they looked at the sky and noticed something strange. "Uh… Dark?"
"Y-y-yeah?" Dark stuttered, seemingly frozen by shock
"Did you draw a face on the moon?"

Hi finally done! Sorry for the wait… as usual!
Anyway I finally got round to posting the first chapter of another fic… but I have forgotten what I called it… which is why this took so long and also mixed with writers block and the fact that this chapter hates me, possibly because I hate sports day!
Oh yeah almost forgot next chapter is going to be a dungeon fighty one (insert whoop whoop here) and therefore it will most probably be more like me kicking a skunk into a bucket… I don't know where that came from…
