Hi everyone... how are you guys doing...? (runs and hides behind Sesshomaru) Okay, before anyone starts hurling feces at me (Sesshomaru glares at anyone attempting to soil his clothes with fecal matter)... I'M SORRY. I know, I knoooooooow that it's been a very, very, very, and very long time since I've updated. There are no excuses, so I won't bore you with any. If anything, I will say that I found out that writer's block is real the hard way. Anyway, I decided to update on this story as soon as I figured out what I wanted next for Sesshomaru and Kagome. I'm still working out the details and whatnot but I liked how this chapter went. Answers from the previous chapter were not answered in this chapter, so if you guys are still baffled, sorry but I'll elaborate on it later. I just really needed this chapter to be it's own thing without having to worry about tying everything up from last time. Anyway, hope you guys have been well and I'll see you at the end :)
The mirror in the bathroom was becoming increasingly misty as the steam from the hot water running in the shower began to condense onto the reflective glass. A gentle humming reverberated around the pristine bathroom as the young woman in the stall washed off the grime of travel from her hair and body. She stood under the stream of water with her eyes closed as she tried to relax her mind and recall the events that had happened that day so far.
Kagome could not have been happier when she felt the wheels of the plane finally hit the runway. Not only had she had to awkwardly sit next to her ex for the entire flight knowing that he had spent a good majority of it staring at her even if he pretended not to be; but there had also been a few babies and children on the flight who did not enjoy the change in pressure on their little eardrums nor being told to remain in their designated seats. To say that she was exhausted and irritated was an understatement. Kagome had been glad to have gotten off the plane and away from all the madness.
It had been mid-day when they had finally arrived in Paris. She had swiftly removed her luggage from the overhead carriers when the pilot had given them the clear to remove their seat-belts. Koga had offered to help her, but she had politely declined it. He didn't seem to upset by it, so she thought nothing of it. Once outside of the gate, she saw the Mr. Taisho had already exited and seemed to be waiting for them. A few people had slowed down to stare at him since silver hair and amber eyes were definitely not a commonality in this country.
A little girl from afar even seemed to scream from four gates over to her mother, "Mommy, look! A fairy!" as she stared in wonderment at Mr. Taisho's long hair, regardless of the fact that the "fairy" was wearing an Armani suit. A few men and women chuckled at the little girls' innocent assumption.
Kagome swore she had seen a slight twitch of his right eye when the little girl called him a fairy and she let out a small giggle, herself. He unleashed a powerful scowl at her but she continued to smile as she finally reached him. He quickly turned around and proceeded to walk towards the escalators that led outside of the terminal. She looked around and noticed that Koga had disappeared before she followed her boss to retrieve her bags. As Mr. Taisho's bodyguard, he had to be nearby; she gave him props for being stealthy.
As they descended down the escalator, she saw a man holding a signed that read "Mr. Taisho". They made their way over to him and he introduced himself, "Good afternoon, Mr. Taisho, my name is Takumi. I work for Mr. Kasai and I will be your chauffer for your stay here in Paris."
Mr. Taisho nodded to him and introduced Kagome to him, "This is my personal assistant, Ms. Higurashi." Kagome shook hands with the young man and smiled at him, even through her exhaustion. She wanted to make a good impression to everyone, after all.
They made their way to the baggage claim and Takumi picked up Mr. Taisho's belongings while Kagome insisted on retrieving her own. Once all the luggage was firmly in place in the trunk of the car, the trio were on their way.
The town car was not as room as the stretch limo back home, but Kagome was able to relax as they quietly waited to reach their destination. Even though she had never been in the country, she was too exhausted to truly enjoy the new sites. She figured there would be time for site-seeing later. The vibrations of the car were slowly lulling her to sleep.
"Where are we going to be staying?" she asked when she realized she didn't know what their destination was. Mr. Taisho had been staring out front before sliding to look at her. He seemed alert and relaxed at the same time. 'He probably had a peaceful rest while in first class,' she glumly thought to herself.
"Our host, Totosai Kasai, owns a hotel in Paris. You may have heard of him," he answered.
"Totosai Kasai?!" She screeched, bouncing in her seat.
Of course she knew of him, everyone knew Totosai Kasai. He was one of the best weapons developers in the world, and he was originally from Japan. She had read all about him in school about how he had been a small and relatively unknown blacksmith before the government had noticed the superior quality of his weapons. He built his company from the ground up after that, all before he was 30! Talk about a success story.
Mr. Taisho gave her a scalding look for disturbing his peace. "I believe I already said that, Ms. Higurashi. We're meeting with him tonight for business, so try to remain calm and collected" he said, already envisioning her fan-girl eyes while in Totsai's presence.
Kagome blushed for a second before remembering, "I thought he retired or something."
Mr. Taisho nodded, "Yes, his daughter Kaguya now runs the company while also maintaining her own company in the fashion industry. We'll be meeting with the both of them because Totosai likes to be kept in the loop for any major company decisions. While he is no longer CEO, he is still on the Board of Executives."
Kagome nodded her head at his to convey that she understood. From ahead in the driver's seat, Takumi announced that they would be reaching their destination in roughly 10 minutes.
"Like I said, Ms. Higurashi, we have a meeting later tonight so it's best to get some rest and freshen up before then," Mr. Taisho said.
"Will I have any time for site-seeing during this trip?" she asked, innocently.
At that Sesshomaru smiled inwardly, remembering that this might be her first time in Paris. "Yes, I am sure there will be enough time for you to see a few sites."
Kagome smiled at that and remained quiet as they pulled up to a grand hotel in the middle of the city. The name of the hotel was Celestial and Kagome thought it was aptly named with immaculate white pillars and beautiful ceilings with intricate designs.
Once checked in, the hotel clerk gave them separate key cards and a bellboy followed them with their bags. They made it to one of the top floors and were directed to their rooms. The halls were quite wide and rooms seemed to be quite spread apart from each other, indicating rather spacious rooms behind the doors. His room was located directly across from hers. Before the retreated to their individual rooms, Mr. Taisho informed her that Koga and his team would be located in various rooms down the hall so as to not alarm her should she see him. Kagome lightly swallowed and nodded before turning into her own room.
As she had assumed, the room was HUGE! It was almost as big as the room in Mr. Taisho's house that she had slept in the night previously. The bed was definitely a king sized bed and the view was amazing. The bellboy dropped off her bags after his and let her know that Mr. Taisho had given him a very generous tip when he saw her reach for her own purse. She smiled at that and closed the door after him once all her bags were inside. She decided to call her mother to let her know that she had reached Paris safely and that she would call her as often as she could.
Feeling the fatigue starting to settle in, Kagome decided that she would like to rinse off her body before taking a nap. Looking over to the nightstand, she saw that it was almost 12:45 pm. She wasn't hungry since they had been served food in the flight but knew that she'd need sustenance when she woke. With that, she grabbed her toiletries and headed towards the beautiful bathroom.
Kagome snapped out of her reverie when she noticed the water starting to lose some of its warmth and quickly turned the faucets off. After drying off her body and blow drying her hair, she wrapped herself in one of the robes that was hanging on the bathroom door. Exiting the bathroom, she started heading for the very inviting bed when she recalled that Mr. Taisho had not told her when she was to be ready to meet Mr. Kasai and his daughter.
Looking down at her robe, she realized that she wasn't aptly dressed to go prancing around the hotel halls. She also didn't want to change out of the comfy robe since she was about to take a nap anyway. So she came up with a brilliant idea.
Kagome walked over to the door, took a deep breath before yanking the door open and running across the hall as fast as she could, knocking on his door, and running back to her own room, before anyone spotted her and before the door had fully closed. She figured this way she wouldn't have to change and she'd still be able to talk to him while hiding behind her door.
She waited for him to open his door but nothing happened. She ran at full speed across the hallway two more times and on her way back to her own room the second time, she heard the door open on his end which made her pause for a slight second. She turned her a head a little to see him standing in his doorway before slamming face-first into her door that had JUST closed and locked on her in her moment of hesitation. Of course, this could happen to the one and only Kagome Higurashi. In her moment of genius, she was now standing outside of her room without her keycard, in a robe, with her boss staring at her like she was a crazy person. Oh this ought to be good.
So... what did you think? Leave me a review, I love reading them! Constructive criticism if always welcome. Also, one of the reasons I got more and more disheartened to continue this story was because as time went on, I felt like I was becoming too old to be writing fanfiction. I am 23 and working full time. But I realize now that I am not too old to be writing AND READING fanfics, especially because there are some awesome works of arts out there. So no, I will not be giving up on this story. It may take a while but I will finish it. If you decide to leave me a review, how about leaving your age in the title so hopefully maybe others out there who are too afraid to write might realize that it's never too late. Of course you don't have to, just something to consider. (I swear I'm not trying to be creepy... PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME). Lol anyway, until next time!
