Chapter 10: Training With Excalibur
"What should we do now?" Sonic asked his Super form.
Super grinned. "We must train. You transform into your Excalibur form and train us. Before we do that, though, I have some information to tell you."
"What about?"
"It's about your other forms. There is another thing that I can teach you: fusion. You can fuse your different forms together to create even more powerful ones, and you can also fuse with them, along with different people."
"Really?" Sonic asked. "That's cool. How do I do that?"
"Simply close your eyes and focus on the other's energy; they have to do it as well."
"So," the werewolf said as it looked at Sonic. "What now?"
"Do what I do."
Darkspine Sonic and the werewolf nodded. They closed their eyes, along with Sonic, and concentrated. A bright light shone and when it faded, the werewolf and Darkspine had fused together. The being's fur was now a thick dark bluish-purple with white streaks and the face was now a long snout with the teeth grown into long sharp fangs. Claws sprouted out of its fingernails and looked very sharp. Also, its arms and legs had massive muscles on them. Darkspine Werehog Sonic's eyes opened, revealing to be a pure white.
"This is incredible," it said, looking at itself, and cracked its knuckles.
Sonic smirked. He closed his eyes as he felt the air around him shifting. The golden glow building up engulfed him. Sonic sighed as he felt armor building itself out of the air. Heavy gauntlets formed on his hands, smaller pieces guarding each individual section of his fingers. Large metal cuffs weighed down his wrists. A ruby oval embedded itself in upper point of each cuff. Gold pieces of armor formed up the length of his arms, separated into sections so he could still move. Small shoulder pads stuck off his shoulders, connecting to the plates on both sides of his torso. Sonic looked down in curiosity as the front plate slanted outward and came to a point. Beneath that, more plates of gold metal formed the lower part covering his hips. Part of his thighs were left uncovered as the armor continued building itself. Circular pieces covered his legs from there down to his ankles. At both his knees and ankles, an extra piece of bent metal attached to the pieces already there to protect where his legs bent. Short heels formed under his feet, altering his shoes to fit the new look he was getting. At the toes, the tip of the armor curved upward. The plates laying over his feet were mostly gold, with a single white one laying across the center to mimic his normal shoes. A red cape flowed out from under the armor over his back quills, going to his ankles in length. The helmet was the last thing to form. Four separate plates covered each of the quills on his head, circling them completely. More metal formed on the rest of his head, covering his ears completely. His visor formed closed over his face, a white cross on the front of it with the lower jawline the same color. Over each eye was three thick slits so he could see. A ruby was embedded in his forehead as well. Sonic looked around as a sword formed in the air next to him.
"Prepare thyself," Excalibur Sonic said, and lunged at his opponent.
Darkspine Werehog was taken by surprise. It didn't expect Excalibur to attack so quickly. The fused being stretched its hands out, trying to punch the armored hedgehog, but it didn't leave a dent. Excalibur chuckled and swung his sword, slashing at Darkspine Werehog and cutting its chest. The wound on the fused being healed instantly, and it grinned.
"What's the matter?" It asked. "Did you forget that werewolves are immortal and can't be killed except by another werewolf or anything silver? If you wound me, I'll heal instantly!"
Excalibur Sonic nodded. "Nay, I hadn't forgotten. Thou art powerful indeed," he said. "It seems thou art suited for hand-to-hand combat..." He threw his sword down and looked at Darkspine Werehog. "It would be unfair to challenge thee armed with a sword, knave."
He ran at the fused being, closing his fist to punch it. However, Darkspine Werehog grabbed Excalibur's fist and twisted him around, stretching its arm out and knocking the king to the ground. Excalibur looked at him and got up, then boosted forwards and punched Darkspine Werehog straight in the chest. It doubled over in pain and then ran on all fours, scratching at the king with its claws. The armor was protecting him, however, and the fused being's attacks didn't leave a mark. Excalibur Sonic hovered in the air, looking at Darkspine Werehog. Closing his eyes behind his helmet, Excalibur Sonic felt power flow through him and a bright red orb appeared in his hands, growing larger.
"Dost thou knowest this attack?" he asked. "SOUL SURGE!"
The king shot the attack at Darkspine Werehog, then boosted down, picked his sword up and channeled the energy into it. Excalibur Sonic was glowing brightly as a golden aura surrounded him and the sword, which crackled with red energy. He looked at the fused being, whose eyes were wide in shock.
"What...?" It asked. "How did you...?"
Excalibur Sonic grinned and said nothing. He lunged at Darkspine Werehog and slashed at it multiple times in a flurry of attacks. It roared loudly and then fell to the ground, defeated. The king put his sword away and looked at it, then turned back to normal.
"That was incredible," Super Sonic told him after watching the fight.
Sonic smiled. "Yeah, well, I am the true King of Camelot," he said. "Speaking of which, I need to see how my subjects are doing. Perhaps I will go there after this is over," he said with a smirk.
Super chuckled and nodded, glancing at Sonic. The blue, immortal hedgehog looked at Darkspine Werehog, who stood up.
"That was a good training session," it told its alter ego. "I didn't know you could speak Old English."
Sonic grinned and turned back into Excalibur Sonic. The fused being was about to speak again when they heard a loud crashing sound. Everyone looked around for the source of the noise when an armored echidna walked into the room.
It was Enerjak.
