He woke up, didn't know how long he'd been asleep or how many days it had been since he'd been in the darkness. However, when he opened his eyes it wasn't to the void, it was to a gentler darkness. The kind where it takes a moment for your eyes to adjust. He was in a room. Like a small bedroom. In a bed. A proper bed. With blankets and a pillow and all his things folded and stacked neatly in the corner the way it had been in his hut. Lightsaber on top. He stood and went to the door. It was unlocked. That surprised him. He went out and wandered the small ship until he found the cockpit.
"Rey?" His voice was sleepy like a child that had shuffled out of bed.
"You're finally awake." Her voice was not friendly, but not terribly unfriendly either. He sat next to her.
"I guess Fey gave you my things?"
"She brought them to the ship."
"Did you bring me to her in the first place?"
"I couldn't leave you there."
"Why didn't you just let me die?"
"I have too much blood on my hands already."
"Where are we going?"
"I'm taking you back to your people."
"I don't want to go back."
"Our paths are seperate."
"Fey said we were done with her teachings but that it was up to you if we should stay together."
"I don't trust you."
"Then why did you leave my lightsaber with me?"
"Fey gave it to you. I trust Fey."
"I would never hurt you."
"And when I defy you? When I make you angry? What then?" She turned to him with a fire in her eyes that almost made him smile.
"I will never hurt you." He said. "Please don't take me back."
"I'm taking you back. If you don't want to stay there don't, but don't expect any help from me."
"I want to stay with you. Our paths are intertwined. We are destined to be together. You are the one that is going to lead me back to the force. You are the one who is turning back to the light side."
"I'm not light or dark, I'm not a jedi. I have no sway in your life or anyone else's." She said.
"I love you. Please don't leave me."
"You don't know me."
"I know you as much as I know myself. Which isn't a lot but it's enough."
"I don't trust you."
"Give me a chance." He watched her sit in silence for a long time. "You saved me for a reason. Let's figure it out together." Silence again. After a long time he turned to watch the stars racing by.
"I guess master trusts you so I should at least give you a chance."
"You won't regret it."
"But we have to go back to help my friends."
"The rebels?"
"Can you do that?" She looked at him.
"I would do anything for you."
"Would you really leave everything behind for me?"
"I would do anything for you." He repeated.
"Can I trust you?"
"I will do everything I can to help you in whatever path you chose to go down."
"Because you owe me a life debt?"
"Because I love you." They stared at each other for a long time, before she turned the ship towards home. He'd do anything to protect her. To make her happy. And even if he had to pick up his lightsaber, even if its red hue clashed with the warm brown of her beautiful eyes, he would use it only in defense of her.
