As if a switch was turned on, the entire Hall exploded into talks. Questions were being asked, theories being discussed, rumors began forming as the entire Hall had descended into absolute chaos. The long awaited secret was revealed and it was something many, if not all hadn't seen coming.
The foreign students were whispering to one another each asking if they had interacted with the youngest Potter, most getting negative responses. Then they turned their attention to the Hogwarts students who had given them mixed responses.
The Hufflepuffs were talking excitedly about Hadrian's medical prowess, many asking Susan Bones and Hannah Abbot-two good friends of his-anything and everything they knew about him. Both girls simply swelled in pride and wasted no time in telling their House mates the kindness and strength of their friend.
The Ravenclaws gaped unattractively at the news. It was a well known fact that Hadrian Potter hated them due to them bullying his friend Luna Lovegood. And to think that he was a well-known figure? Many of them had relatives or family members that had benefited greatly from his improvements or new potions. This wouldn't end well for them that was for sure.
The Gryffindors were all smiles, all cheering and talking excitedly as they talked amongst themselves about the latest news. They all liked the raven, having long since dubbed him a 'Honorary Lion'. Him being the Mysterious Healer and helping others that had a low chance of surviving had given them much more respect than they had for him.
The Slytherins would have gaped like the Ravenclaws, but wouldn't be caught doing such uncouth behavior, so settled for paling rapidly at their lost chance at having such a strong political ally/connection. The boy they had deemed a disgrace in their noble house, a lost cause in the politic circles as well since he was the second son, had been the one that had the biggest clot.
All those who had hated the boy for either being a half-blood, the second son, or for not being the Boy-Who-Lived could only shake their heads at the missed opportunity. Many weren't stupid and knew there would be absolute no way Hadrian would want to form a connection with them in any way. Others that didn't seem to have any brains thought otherwise.
Draco Malfoy's jaw dropped low, his pureblood training going out the window when it was revealed who the 'filthy half-blood' truly was. To think all this time he was a renown figure and he hadn't known. He paled once he remembered all the things he had done to the boy all these years. His father would be pissed that was for sure once the news got out.
Victor Krum grinned in triumph when he heard the declaration. Hadrian had become an even more desirable person and he'd make sure he'd become the best suitor. The young teen was perfect. Besides the fact that not only did he not fawn over him, he was beautiful, strong, intelligent and now the Mysterious Healer. Hadiran Potter had no equal in his eyes.
Zacharis Smith first hated Charlus Potter. He was the Boy-Who-Lived and knew that people would pay more attention to him than he, the Heir of Helga Hufflepuff. Then he learned about the other twin, Hadrian and like many others noticed that Charlus seemed distraught that his twin wasn't paying attention like everyone else. That was when he subconsciously began noticing him. Soon enough, he believed that the only way to beat Charlus Potter was to befriend his isolated twin-the one person that didn't seem to like him.
That task seemed to be pretty hard and he grew frustrated. But that turned into fascination and then desire. He wanted Hadrian Potter and he would get him, he was a descendant of Helga Hufflepuff, Boy-Who-Lived or not. He had a plan that he knew would work as it was well known that Potter wasn't accepted by the Slytherins thus they wouldn't help him. Of course the Gryffindors getting in the way was something he never counted on, or Charlus being accepted by his twin.
He had to re-think his plans.
Those at the High table where the staff sat looked at their favorite student in pride, with even Professor Sprout wiping away a proud tear. Those who didn't know would ask the others if they did and Fillus had no problem with telling them. Severus simply had a smirk glad that his apprentice was getting the fame he rightly deserved.
Dumbledore would have choked on a lemon drop if he had been eating on. He always suspected that there was more to the littlest Potter but to think that he was THE Mysterious Healer, the one who created so many cures and potions that helped many people out. He felt proud at his accomplishments and a smile at broken from his face, only for it to slightly dim when he saw that James and Lily looked equally shocked about the revelation like everyone else.
James and Lily looked at their youngest son like they had never seen him before and they were looking at some revered deity. Harry was the Mysterious Healer!? Wha-How!? They had just thought they had learned a lot of their son, only to find out that there was so much more that they didn't know. And the sad part was, was that Harry would now simply believe that they wanted something from him and were paying attention to him due to his newly revealed celebrity status.
Charlus and Neville shared a grin. It was about time Harry got the respect he deserved from everyone. Granted they wouldn't have done what the older Longbottoms had done, but it was still all good. Harry downplayed everything he did and it was nice that he would get the recognition and admiration he rightly deserved.
Harry for his part looked calm and collected like he always was, but was fighting the urge to bang his head at the nearest surface. Why oh why did they do that? Couldn't they had done it in a more private place? Now people would be watching his every move-and wasn't that disturbing!-or wanted to get close to him for political gain. Especially the Slytherins or Malfoy in particular would be annoying.
He sighed as he looked at the Longbottoms. They were looking at him expectantly and he knew he had to answer. It would be disrespectful if he didn't. Even if he didn't like the situation. He's grandmother, bless her soul, would have his hind if she were alive. Though he was pretty sure being a portrait wouldn't stop the woman. Dorea Potter was scary that way.
"I, Hadrian Potter, accept the House of Longbottom as allies." he said and magic surrounding them, verifying their claim, "Thank you." he smiled.
"Don't be ridiculous! Now come." Alice exclaimed, grabbing his arm, Neville on her other, "We'll be going out for dinner. I want to know more about my son's best friend." she smiled, dragging them away.
"Um..." Harry looked completely lost and Neville liked the look on his face, so simply grinned at his glare and let his mum drag them away.
"Alice, the boys are in school you can't just take them away." August huffed, a smile on her face. Alice never stopped though and was already nearing the door.
"Huh? What did you say? I can't hear you properly." the bubbly woman yelled as she picked up her speed and soon was out of sight.
Frank laughed, knowing perfectly well that his wife heard them alright but didn't care. He was glad that she was getting back to being her old self.
"There is no use mother. You know how Alice is." he said and then turned to the Headmaster, "We'll return both boys by the end of the day. It was nice seeing everyone again." and without a second glace at anyone else he walked out the door after his wife and the two boys.
"Honestly." August shook her head fondly.
Minerva smirked.
"You shouldn't have expected anything else 'Gus." the Transfiguration Mistress said, "Would you like to join us?" she offered.
"No, no. I'll be going after them. We had planned on taking them for the day from the start, but not so abruptly." she said, "I bid you all farewell." the old woman said and then made her exit.
The Staff looked at one another, the students talking in the background, as Dumbledore broke the silence.
"How long?" he asked, specifically Minerva and they all turned to her, especially the two desperate parents.
"Since he was nine." she said proudly at their shock looks, "Harry was often left alone when he was younger and that had gotten him associated with the family portraits especially Dorea Potter. Once they realized that he was incredibly intelligent, they nurtured it and had taught him everything ranging from languages, etiquette, spells, theory, potions and even family magic. He then began experimenting on his own and creating things which was when he presented it to me. I was skeptical at first so arranged a meeting with the Head Healer who had verified that the potions and medicines had worked. Since I was his godmother, I was allowed to sign the contract between him and where he'd create more and supply them with it. And you are aware of the rest." she concluded.
"That's not all he's done." Remus spoke up with a smile, "I took him with me to the muggle world once and he absolutely loved it. Dorea Potter being who she is, had somehow arranged for him to take muggle education with the goblins and he had started going from the age of five. He completed their education at the age of nine, when it would take the average until the age of eighteen to complete it." he finished proudly.
"He went to muggle school?" Spetima asked, looking at the Potters.
Minerva scoffed.
"Don't ask them anything regarding little Hadrian. They don't know anything about him. Or that he existed for the matter." she sneered and they flinched.
"Now Minerva-" Dumbledore silenced himself from the glare he received from the angry woman. Better them than him.
"Why exactly did he keep it a secret though?" Pomona asked.
"Harry doesn't like the spot light. He never has and I don't think he ever will." Minerva answered and then giggled, "I bet you anything that he was internally wailing at the big reveal."
"This Harry has done good. He should feel proud of his accomplishments." Headmistress Maxime said with her thick French accent.
She like her students were in awe at the remarkable intelligence and prowess that this young boy had demonstrated at a young age. Some one like him should bask in his work and honor that his accomplishments had brought him, not hide away. It might stereotypical on her part, but he was the brother to the Boy-Who-Lived, a person she knew loved the attention he had gotten if the gossip, rumors and news reports was anything to by.
"We told that to him too, but the lad likes being in the background. Said the spot light wasn't for him. So I respected his wishes. Though he knew it would eventually all come out either way." Minerva explained.
"I think I can say for all of us that tomorrows paper in the Prophet will be one to remember." Fillus said, taking a sip of his drink. They each nodded. Hadrian Potter would be famous all over the country tomorrow.
Headmaster Igor listened to their conversation but didn't give any input. What the British did was of no concern to him, but he was a former Death Eater and something was bugging him. As a visiting school Headmaster, he could get access to the report cards of other students. A sign of good faith they would say, but it played well for him.
The first thing he did was check the records of Charlus Potter and he had to say that for someone who had taken down the most foul being of all times, he wasn't anything special. His grades were pretty average his first two years, only for them to skyrocket in his third. A bit of eavesdropping and questions had told him that Charlus had spent more time with his twin and his group of his rather than his own from that year.
He didn't think that a change of friendship would do so much, so he looked into the records of Hadrian Potter, only to find out that the boy was in the accelerated program and that he was currently in his last semester. Not only that, but his marks were grades that even surpasses Dumbledore's at his age. They were no scoffing matter.
Then there was the boy's magical power. Victor had told him of his display of wandless magic-not an easy task either!-and how the entire Slytherin house feared the boy, despite being a half-blood.
So why was it the one praised to have defeated the Dark Lord was weaker in magic prowess and abilities than his twin? The only other person in the room that night?
The answer was something he had to verify, but if it were true, then it would mean the stupid British had been praising the wrong child all these years. And if he'd hearing correctly, the Potter's neglected the wrong child.
One thing was for certain, with the darkening of his Mark, the peaceful days were soon over.
This one is a bit short I know, but the last chapter was the longest one and many unexpected things just popped up this month. And since a promised a monthly updated, I believed 'anything would be better than nothing', so here it is. Hopefully next chapter will be longer. My personal matters should be done by the middle of this new month. Hope you enjoyed!
