Chapter Ten: Bedtime stories with Mommy

"Are you ready for bed yet, sweetie?" Cooro asked as he poked his head into Coori's room.

"Not yet," Coori said as she finished up putting her toys away.

"Well, let me know when you are, okay?" Cooro said with a chuckle.

"Okay, Mommy!" Coori said, smiling at him.

Cooro returned the smile before leaving her to her work. Coori hummed as she finished putting the last of her toys away.

"Okay! I'm ready!" Coori said as she looked toward the door.

Cooro soon came into the room after she said that and went over to help her into bed. Coori climbed up and grabbed Mister Fluffy before snuggling into her bed. Cooro smiled to this as he tucked her in.

"Story?" Coori asked, looking up at her mother while holding her teddy bear.

"Alright," Cooro said as he sat down on the bed next to her. "What do you want to hear tonight?"

"How you and daddy met," Coori said.

"Again?" Cooro asked with a laugh.

"I like that story." Coori said with a pout.

"I know, sweetie." Cooro said, smiling at his daughter. "Shall I begin?"

"Yeah!" Coori said happily.

"Okay," Cooro said, adjusting himself a little so that he was comfortable. "Let's see….Well, your Uncle Husky and I just finished up getting some items from a traveling merchant. We had to sell a wig Husky had with him in order to get the items. As the man was getting our purchases together, Uncle Husky asked him if he had any clothes for sell. The merchant said he ran out and instead gave Husky a cloth to use. Uncle Husky took it and used it as a cloak before asking him if there were any stores nearby. The merchant told us that there was this little town called Abon not too far away. He even told us that the town had a few shops and was famous for a really delicious dish. Of course, once I heard about the food and Husky heard about the stores, we immediately set out to Abon.

"Once we made it to Abon, we were stopped at the entrance by a group of men with weapons. One of them scared me and your Uncle Husky off by pulling out and swung his sword around, claiming to be part of some gang. I don't remember the name but I do know they said they were in a gang. Anyway, since we couldn't get in through the entrance, I saw and noticed that there was a river nearby that went through the village. I showed Uncle Husky the river before making my wings appear and took to the skies. Uncle Husky took to the river since he's a…?" Cooro trailed off as he looked toward Coori for the answer with a knowing smile.

"A fishie," Coori said happily.

"That's right," Cooro said, nodding before continuing with his story. "So, I flew over the river and into town, landing in a field of flowers that Abon is known for. However, as I landed, the pollen from the flowers got into my system and started to make me cough. That's when I heard someone come up behind me. I turned around to find-"

"Daddy!" Coori exclaimed happily.

"He wasn't daddy then," Cooro said with a laugh. "But yes, that's when I first met your father. He was there in Abon protecting the flowers from the gang I mentioned earlier. We didn't start off well, but it was understandable due to the circumstances at the time. But luckily the townspeople came out and called your father off for me."

"Daddy was funny back then," Coori said with a laugh before it turned into a yawn.

"And it looks like my little crow is ready to head off into dreamland." Cooro said as he looked at Coori.

Coori nodded her head and snuggled into her pillow, holding Mister Fluffy close. Cooro smiled to this before getting off of the bed and kissed his daughter on the forehead. A small little noise came from her as she closed her eyes and fell right to sleep.

"Good night, my little crow bear."Cooro whispered, brushing some of Coori's hair back before heading towards the door. He left it opened a crack so Coori could have some light before going to his husband's side.
