Journal Entry 5 Book 2

I've been settling in quite well with locals ever since I arrived in Gravity Falls. This town seems like it would be a great place to live. Yet I have a feeling that this place is not what it seems.

So far, I've noticed that the inhabitants seem to be hiding something to us outsiders, something that may make this mission worthwhile. Hopefully, it won't be our undoing. But we're done things like this before, so there is no doubt in my mind that we will find out what it is, soon.

All in all, I have great hope for our mission. And I believe that my partners feel the same way. Maybe after we complete our mission I'll come back to live here. I hope the best for us!

Hello my dear readers. It seems that we are nearing the end of this story, but do not fret. All stories must end eventually. And with their end, new stories come to fruition.

However, we cannot finish this story just yet. There are still many things that have not resolved themselves. And for us to finish our story, we must tie up our loose ends.

And our loose ends include a shattered mirror, two cursed children, the final artifacts have yet to be retrieved, and there is a witch who seems to be after Stan.

And so, I shall continue, so we may tie up these "loose ends", and before I do so, I will make sure that you are informed.

Dipper and Pacifica have collected the artifact helmet, bringing their total amount to eight. And now, their time is running thin. They only have three days to collect the remaining two artifacts.

Yet, despite the fact that their time running thin, they have found time to grow closer to each other. And slowly, but surely, they are growing as close as Dipper was to Mabel.

And so, I shall continue my story.

In the morning, the two kids packed up their camp as quickly as they possibly could, before running towards the ninth sanctuary.

The two ran through the densest parts of the Gravity Falls Forest. The freezing air around them and the sweat on their brow helped them fight back their exhaustion.

They fought towards their destination, letting nothing stand in their way, for they knew that they had to waste as little time as possible.

They only had three more days left before the curse settled permanently on Mabel.

Yet, unlike the road to the other eight, the ninth artifact was well guarded. It was hidden deeper in the forest, than all of the others.

It took them the entire day, up until the dead of night for them to reach the ninth sanctuary.

And by the time they reached it, they two were tired.

Because they had to go through the challenge of the deep forest, Dipper's sweater was just as badly torn as Mabel's was before they went after the mirror, after the "incident" with Pacifica.

Pacifica's coat was damaged too, but not as badly.

And just like before, they found a gate. Before calling out for Alpha, who then proceeded to activate it.

This time though, the gate was held at the center of a clearing, and when Alpha activated it, a red beam of light fired from it, pointing towards a nearby mineshaft.

And so, the two kids nodded, before they ran into the mineshaft in search of the ninth artifact.

"Wow Dipper, I didn't know that Gravity Falls had a mineshaft." Pacifica couldn't help but marvel at how beautiful the remaining ores and crystals in the mineshaft were.

"Yeah the journal said that at one point, Gravity Falls was a mining town. But all the mines closed down after a big earthquake sealed most of them off." Dipper replied, his eyes looking deeper into the mine.

Even though they were surround by some of the most beautiful stones they had ever seen, they did not let themselves be distracted.

So instead, the two hurried through the mine, following the winding tunnels deeper into the earth.

Eventually, they neared the end of the cave. There, they saw light, and felt boiling heat.

They had found the sanctuary of the Artifact scepter. Yet, unlike the other sanctuaries, this one was a single massive platform, that stood above a lava lake. There was a single, rocky bridge connecting the platform to the cave.

And at the beginning of the stone bridge was an obelisk.

"Hey Alpha! Translate this please!" Pacifica yelled, as Dipper inspected the stone. Examining every meticulous detail that it had to offer.

Alpha appeared in a flash of light, and read the pillar of rock, before he read aloud, "United as one we stand, and divided we fall. Only together may the scepter be freed from the seal. Yet, to unite yourselves, you must know each other's hearts."

By the looks of it, they figured that it was best not to question what the tablet meant.

So the two nodded to each other, before running across the bridge with Alpha following behind.

Then, they tried to grab the scepter.

But, instead of releasing itself from its seal, the scepter started to vibrate, and glowed bright red.

Then, the light illuminated the platform, engulfing the three in pure light, while it knocked Dipper and Pacifica unconscious

Dipper woke up in a black and white clearing. He quickly surveyed the area, looking for anything that could tell him where he was. But alas, all he could do as sign.

So hoping to at least find his companion, he yelled, "Pacifica!"

Now, Dipper expected a voice to answer him. That's a given, but he didn't expect Pacifica's voice to be in his head.

"Dipper! Where are you?" Pacifica's voice cut through his thoughts.

"Pacifica?" Dipper said aloud, "Can you hear me?"

Dipper hoped that she could hear him the same way he heard her.

Luckily for him, she did.

"Dipper, where are we?" Pacifica sounded like she was starting to panic.

"Calm down…" Dipper looked around, and thought for a few seconds, "This place looks eerily familiar."

So, he concentrated.

Then, his eyes started to glow red, before firing lasers and chopping down a nearby Pine tree.

And so in the most confident voice he could muster, Dipper said, "I know exactly where we are."

"Where Dipper?" Pacifica asked, hoping that Dipper knew a way out of there..

Dipper started to walk deeper into the forest, "We're in the mindscape. Basically we can do whatever we want here."

Pacifica couldn't help, but be surprised, "Wow, really?"

And she continued, "So what do you think this test is?" on the other side of the forest, Pacifica got up and started walking too.

Dipper sighed as he said, "Well let's find each other first. Then we can try to figure out what we're supposed to do."

Then, Dipper tried to teleport to Pacifica, because hey, you're in the mind. You're supposed to be able to do whatever you want.

But, nothing happened. It was as if something was blocking him from finding her.

So he sighed, and started to run deeper into the forest.

Pacifica did the same ran hoping that she would run into Dipper, but that's not what she ran into.

She found a clearing with a little blonde girl in a white dress in it.

If she didn't know better, she would've thought that she was looking in a mirror.

But, as she went up to the girl, the shadowy mist engulfed her, and turned her into the dark beast known as the gremloblin.

"Dipper! Help!" She screamed, as she jumped behind a near by rock. But it was of no use. She was on her own.

The gremloblin lifted the rock she hid behind, and threw it to the side. Then the creature picked up Pacifica and forced her to look into its eyes.

And just as the monster was about give Pacifica the same fate as Mabel, a laser came from behind and blasted the Gremloblin.

"No one messes with Pacifica while I'm around!" Dipper screamed as he fired another, forcing the gremloblin to drop Pacifica.

Outraged, the beast grabbed Dipper, and prepared to force him to see his worst nightmare.

Pacifica got up, and following Dipper's example, fired powerful, yellow laser beams from her hands. "I'll save you Dipper!"

But just like Dipper's blasts, her beams did nothing to defeat the beast, just make it angrier and drop Dipper.

The beast was angry, and with one scream, it grew 4 sizes larger and grabbed the two.

"Pacifica!" Dipper was stuck in the beast's right arm, while Pacifica was stuck in the left. "I think I know how to finish the challenge!"

"How Dipper?! Spit it out!" Pacifica struggled, and managed to get her right arm free

Dipper forced his arm free and reached for Pacifica, "Divided we fall, united we stand. To defeat the beast, we have to fight together."

The beast sprouted wings and flew high into the sky, as Dipper and Pacifica reached for each other's hands.

Then, just as the beast was about to drop them, and let them fall to their demise, their hands touched.

In an instant, everything was clear. Their minds were linked. All of their memories, secrets, lives, of who they were to each other became clear.

Dipper watched as Pacifica's father beat her to a pulp over minor failures. And how her stepmother was the cause of everything. How Pacifica wanted to become friends with Mabel, and chased after them to do so. And yet, the most important thing that he learned was that Pacifica loved him back.

On the other end of the link, Pacifica watched as Dipper stood behind Mabel as they went after the cursed mirror. She took in every second of their plan, and watched as Dipper took care of her after she got knocked unconscious. She couldn't help but feel surprised when Dipper drunkenly defended her. And just like with Dipper, the most important thing she found out was that he loved her back.

Then, together, they fired a ray of green light at the gremloblin, causing it to shriek in pain as it dropped them.

The monster vanished in a flash of pure light. And the last thing the duo felt was the sensation of falling.

A few seconds later, they woke up and they were both clutching the artifact scepter.

"Did we…" Pacifica started, barely able to continue, "Did we do it?"

Dipper picked up the artifact before responding, "Yeah, we did."

Pacifica rubbed the back of her neck before saying, "So did you see inside my head too?"

Dipper's cheeks went red before he looked to the side and said, "Yeah…"

"So did you see, you know?" Pacifica tried not to sound as embarrassed as she felt.

"I did." He replied, coming closer to her.

Then they came together into hug, before looking into each other's eyes, longingly.

And then they came closer, and closer, and then…

A rock.

A rock fell from the roof of the cave, and made a loud splash as it fell into the lava below, catching the attention of the two lovers.

"What the…" Dipper started, and would've continued, if another rock didn't fall closer to them.

"Let's run." Pacifica said flatly, and Dipper nodded, "Agreed."

And in a second the two sprinted out of the collapsing cave, with alpha following right behind.

Luckily for them, Alpha grabbed the mirror shard before they left.

The two children continued to run, past falling rocks and boulders, before sliding under a boulder blocking the exit.

"That was a close one Dipper." Pacifica said while panting.

Dipper looked into Pacifica's eyes as he said, "Let's go, we can't waste time."

Then, he pulled out journal number 2, and flipped to the page with the map on it.

"Pacifica…" Dipper took his eyes out of the book, before slamming it shut.

"Yeah Dipper?" Pacifica curiously asked.

Dipper seriously said with a solemn look, "We're going to Gravity Breaker."

"How far is that?" Pacifica dusted herself off and fixed her bag.

Dipper pulled out the map, before saying, "We're at the forest edge. We've got a straight two days of walking ahead of us."

Then the two nodded, and began making their way to the center of Gravity Falls. Where the mountain that did not fall to Gravity resided.
