I'm sad to see it end but I think it's time you know. So by next year I'll finish the last couple of chapters and I promise I'll make them good. Also I would like to dedicate this chapter to xTheDoctorsCompanion as an Christmas present.

Merry Christmas everybody!

*Flashback*

Ali and Dan were hanging out in the rec room laughing and having a few beers. Earlier Dharma threw a surprise birthday party for Horace. Everyone was there. It was strange that two months ago these people suspected them as Hostiles and now they were welcoming them with open arms. Even though Sawyer was still waiting for Locke to come back it was painfully obvious that wasn't gonna happen any time soon. As much as Ali missed being in their own time she had come to accept that this was their life now. It wasn't all bad. At least she wasn't alone.

"What time is it," Dan asked.

"I don't know. Around one I think," Ali shrugged.

"Aren't you tired," Dan asked.

"Surprisely, no. Besides I think Miles and Virgie are still having some quality time," she pointed out.

After the party they headed to Ali's house where she lived with Virgie, Katherine and Juliet. Katherine and Juliet stayed behind to help Amy clean up while Virgie and Miles were have some fun of their own. Not wanting to stick around for all of that they decided to hang out in the rec room for a while.

"Can you image if those two had a kid together," Dan joked.

Ali almost choked on her beer when he said that.

"Ew! Image. The thought of Miles reproducing is scary," she confessed.

"Yeah. One Miles is bad enough," he agreed.

Ali thought for moment before asking, "If you had a kid, what would you name it?"

Dan looked at her strange.

"Where did that come from?"

"I don't know. I'm just curious I guess. I mean, have you thought about it," she asked sheepishly.

Dan thought about it for a moment before answering.

"Once. When I was studying at Oxford. I was seeing someone, Theresa. I thought maybe she could be the one," he said sadly.

"What happened," she asked him.

"She ended up a coma. That was the last I saw of her," he answered.

Something told her there was more to the story but judging from the look on Dan's face he was pretty broken up about it so she didn't push.

"I know that if I ever have a baby girl I want to name her Holly," Ali said.

"That's a nice name. What if it's a boy?"

"I don't know. I'm not good with boy names," she admitted.

"How about Eric, or Jordan, or Kyle," he suggested.

"Kyle. It's not a bad name," she smiled.

Ali noticed that Dan staring at her. She started to feel her cheeks turned red.

"Why are you looking at me like that," she asked him.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to stare. It's just... it's just... I think you're beautiful," Dan confessed.

"You don't have to say things like that," she said, looking down at the floor.

She felt his hand on her shoulder. She looked up to see Dan staring at her again.

"I mean it. You really are beautiful."

All of a sudden she found it hard to breathe.

"Thanks. Um, I think I should head home. I'll see you tomorrow," she said.

Ali got up from the couch but she only made it three steps when she felt Dan grab her hand. Before she knew what was happening he was pulling her toward him and kissing her. The kiss wasn't a light kiss that was shared between two friends. No, this kiss was passion and full of need shared between two lovers. My god, she had no idea that Dan was such a good kisser. Dan's lips moved from her mouth to her neck. She let out a moan as she felt his teeth nipping at her earlobe. Soon he was easing her to the floor. Ali starts tugging at his shirt before he finally takes it off completely. Soon her shirt was off too, leaving her in nothing but her light blue bra and skirt.

She was flat on her back with a nervous looking Dan leaning over her.

"Ali? Is this what you want," he asked her.

"What," she asked confused.

"Do you want this? Do you want me," he asked.

She slowly reaches up and strokes his cheek. He was so handsome and a bit nerdy but she thought it was kind of sexy. Ali loved spending time with Dan these past two months and she often would wonder what it would be like to kiss him. But this went beyond anything she ever dreamed of.

"Yes. Please Dan," she begged.

He leans down and captures her lips again.

The morning after...

Ali woke up on the couch in the rec room. At first she was confused to why she was there, but then memories of last night started to appear in her head. God, her head hurts! She hasn't drank that much since college. She notice that she was alone and wondered where Dan was. She went over to Dan's house, where he was sharing with Jin, Sawyer and Miles. Ali knocked on the door and Sawyer answered.

"Hey," Sawyer greeted.

"Hi James. Is Dan here," she asked him.

"No, he left the island already," he answered.

"What do you mean he 'left the island'," she asked confused.

"He didn't tell you," he asked surprise.

"Tell me what?"

"Dr. Frankenstein left on the sub for Ann Arbor about an hour ago. He's been planning it for weeks," he explained.

Ali didn't know what hurt more that everyone knew except her or that he didn't even say good bye. How could Dan leave without saying anything to her? Didn't she mean anything to him?

"You really didn't know?"

"No."

"I would have thought you would be the first to know. You guys seemed pretty tight."

"I thought so too," she said, tearing filling her eyes.

"Are you all right," he asked.

What kind of stupid was that, she thought.

"Y-yeah. I'm just gonna head on home. I'm sure the girls are wondering where I've been. I'll see you later," she said softly.

Sawyer grabbed her arm and pulled her toward him. He wrapped his arms around her as she buried her face in his chest and began to sob.

"It's okay. It's gonna be okay," he told her.

Even though he was trying to comfort her, she couldn't hear what he was saying over her heart breaking into a million pieces.

Dharma 1977

Ali woke up the next morning with a big smile on her face. Last night was one of the best nights she had. Dan came back into her life and told her those three small words she's been waiting so long to hear. She was even more happy that Dan got to meet their son. Whenever Kyle asked about his dad she would tell him little things like, he was really smart and that he was helping people in far off places. She turned over to reach for Dan but he wasn't there. Where did he go? She heard a noise coming from the kitchen so quickly got out of bed.

When she entered the kitchen, Dan was placing pancakes on a plate while Kyle was placing strawberries on them.

"Good morning," she greeted them.

Kyle smiled at his mom.

"Look mommy! We made pancakes," Kyle said.

"Yes, I can see that. It smells yummy," she said.

"Hey! We were going to surprise with breakfast in bed," Dan said.

"Dan, you didn't haven't to do all this" she said.

"Yes, I did. I have three years to make up."

Ali saw the look on Dan's face and it made her sad. Even though last night he apologized a thousand times she knew he still felt guilty for leaving. But he was trying and that meant something.

"Well, you're off to a good start. I love pancakes," she said with a smile.

"I know. Kyle told me. And he helped me make them, right champ," Dan said to Kyle.

"Yup!"

"Honey, why don't you go and wake Aunt Kathy," Ali told Kyle.

"Okay!"

As she watched Kyle disappear down the hall Dan wrapped his arms around her kissed her. She wrapped her arms around his neck.

"What about breakfast," she asked between kisses.

"It can wait," he said.

They were so caught up in their moment didn't see Kyle coming into the kitchen.

"Ew!"

They pulled away and laughed at the look on their son's face.

"Is Aunt Kathy up yet," Ali asked Kyle.

"She's not here," he answered.

Ali looked surprise. That was strange. She thought for sure she would be here for breakfast.

"Are you sure," she asked.

"Uh huh. I checked all the rooms but I couldn't find her."

"Well...she must have left early for work again. But I'm sure we'll see her later," she assured him.

"I hope so."

Of all of her friends, Katherine was the closest to Kyle, next to her. She was like a second mother to him. Ali didn't want to say anything but she was starting to get worried. It wasn't like Katherine to not come home without letting them know where she was.

"Hey. Come on. Let's have some breakfast," Ali suggested.

"Okay!"

The three of them sat at the table and started eating breakfast. She never thought in a million years she would sitting with Dan and her son, eating pancakes, like a family. It's a good thing she wasn't crying otherwise she wouldn't be able to start. Suddenly there was a knock at the door. Ali got up to answer the door and was surprise to see Charlie.

"Morning Ali," he greeted.

"Charlie! What are you doing here," she asked.

"I need to talk to you. Can I come in?"

"Yeah, sure."

Charlie followed Ali into the kitchen where Dan and Kyle are still eating.

"Hi Uncle Charlie!" Kyle greeted.

"Hey little man," Charlie smiled.

"Charlie, I would like you to meet Dan. Kyle's father. Dan, this is my friend Charlie," she introduced the two.

"It's nice to meet you," Dan said, shaking his hand.

"You too. Hey! Aren't you the scientist," Charlie asked him.

"Yeah, that's me," he answered.

"Dan, could you give Charlie and me a few minutes alone? I just need to talk to him about something," she told Dan.

"Sure thing," he kissed her cheek. He turns to their son, "Hey buddy, why don't you show me your room."

"Yeah! I can show you my dinosaurs," Kyle said, excitedly.

Kyle grabbed Dan by the hand lead him to his room.

"So, that's Kyle's dad," Charlie pointed out.

"Yeah. I never thought I would see him again," she confessed.

"Are you okay? I remember you being uncomfortable when I mention the guy before."

"Honestly, I'm good. I mean, I was pretty mad at first, but we got to talking. Now I'm just happy. I never thought I would this happy," Ali said.

"That's great Ali. I'm glad you're happy. But if Mr. Wizard breaks your heart again..."

"That's sweet of you, Charlie, but you're gonna have to get in line. James and few of the other guys got first dibs."

"Well, as much as I would like to threaten Danny Boy back there, that's not why I'm here. I wanted to let you know we're having a little meeting over at Sawyer and Juliet's place," Charlie explained.

"About what," she asked curious.

"We're voting whether to stay here or look for the plane that we were on," Charlie explained.

If this was three years ago she should have been the first in line to get off this island. But things were different now. As much as Ali wanted to help her friends she didn't want to leave. She had a life here and a son. And now that Dan was back she wasn't gonna give that up, not even for Jack.

"What do you think," she asked.

"I want to find the plane and get back to Claire. I never wanted to come back to this sodding island in the first place. Stupid Jack and his hero complex," he confessed.

"Hey, what's with you? You've never bad mouth Jack before."

Back in the day Charlie and Jack got along pretty well. Now just hearing Jack's name made Charlie want to throw something.

"I had a falling out with Jack a while ago. He did something unforgivable," Charlie explained.

"What did he do," Ali asked.

Charlie stared at her for a moment, deciding whether or not to tell her. Finally he spoke.

"When Lacy was a year old Claire asked Jack to watch her for a few hours. I was working the music store and Claire was taking Aaron to see her mother. Business was slow that day so I came home early. When I get there I find Lacy with a open beer bottle in her hands."

"Oh my god! She didn't..."

"No. I stopped her just in time," Charlie assured her.

"Where was Jack," Ali demanded.

"Passed out on the couch drunk," Charlie said bitterly.

Wait! Jack? Jack Shepherd? It was like someone telling her Gandhi was a drug dealer.

"Jack was drinking," Ali asked, shocked.

"It's hard to believe isn't it? God, I was so furious with him. I threw him out and told him he wasn't allowed near my family until he was sober. That was almost a year ago."

"Does Claire know?"

"No. Even before Claire knew that she and Jack were related she always looked up to him like a brother. If she knew it would have broken her heart," Charlie explained.

Ali stared at Charlie not sure what to say. I mean, what could she say? The thought of Jack of all people going off the deep end like that was just unbelievable.

"I better get going. I'll see you later," Charlie said.

"Yeah. Okay," she said.

As Charlie got up to leave. She decided to check on Dan and Kyle. She watched from the doorway as Kyle showed Dan his toy dinosaurs. Kyle loved dinosaurs. Then she watch as Kyle hand Dan a drawing. She couldn't see the drawing because they were blocking her view but she noticed that Dan was getting teary eyed.

"You like it," Kyle asked hopefully.

"I love it. Thank you Kyle," Dan said, hugging his son.

Ali slowly creeped into the room and looked over Dan's shoulder to see what Kyle drew. It was a picture of three people in crayon with 'Mommy, Daddy, and Me' written in child like letters. Now it was her turn to get teary eyed.

"Hi mommy," Kyle greeted her.

Dan turned his head and wiped the tears in his eyes.

"Hey! Look what Kyle made me," he said showing her the picture.

"Yeah. It's really pretty," Ali said sweetly.

Seeing Dan with their son made her heart skip a beat. This was her family. And she'll be damned if anyone tries to take them away from her.

Island 2007

Brad woke up feeling dizzy and stiff. He tried to stand but couldn't move. He looked down and saw that he was tie to a tree. What the hell was going on? The last thing that he remembered was being chased by two Others... than Abby... holy shit!

"I'll ask you again, where is my daughter," a voice shouted.

Brad looked around to see where the voice was coming from but saw no one.

"I told you I don't know! Now let me go you fucking bitch!"

"Wrong answer," she said.

The last thing Brad heard was the sound of something getting chopped off. Abby suddenly comes out of the jungle carrying a bloody hatchet in her hand. From the look on her face she was not happy.

"Abby," Brad declared.

"Brad. It's been a long time," she stated.

"Three years. My god, I can't believe it's you. You disappeared and we thought the worst..."

"Where's Rosie," she demanded.

"Abby..."

"Where is my daughter," she demanded.

"Look calm down. Just put that away and we can talk about this," he said.

"I want to know where my daughter is."

Damn it! This wasn't getting him anywhere. He needed to convince Abby to untie him. That's when he gets a idea.

"Listen look inside my backpack. My camera is in there," he said.

Abby looks at him suspiciously but he does what he says. She sets her hatchet down and grabs his backpack. She looks inside and finds his digital camera.

"Turn it on," Brad encouraged.

Abby turned on the camera and saw a picture of Rosie smiling while holding flowers.

"Is-is this her," she croaked.

"Yeah."

The next picture showed Rosie feeding a goat at the petting zoo. Another one showed Rosie dressed up like a fairy princess and Brad dressed up pirate on Halloween. Another showed her sleeping on the couch in her pink pajamas. Each picture brought a tear to her eye. She couldn't believe this was her little girl.

"She's so beautiful" Abby exclaimed.

"Yeah she is. She's amazing," Brad said.

"So it was you then. You took her. You took my daughter from me," Abby declared.

Brad notices that Abby was getting that crazy look in her eye again.

"Abby, let me explain."

Abby picks up her hatchet again.

"I wish you would," she said.

Even though her voice was calm he knew what she was really saying, tell me the truth or I'll kill you.

Oh yeah. Brad was in big trouble.

Dharma 1977

Virgie quickly filled Miley's baby bag with baby food, a blanket and a few other things Miley might need. After the meeting with her friends, she and Miles agreed that they should prepare for the worst. She didn't want to leave. This place has been their home for three years. It wasn't the life she expected but it was a good life. They were happy here. Now they had to leave and start all over again.

She was just about finish with Miley's bag when she noticed the picture of her and Miles on their wedding day on the night stand. Virgie couldn't help but smile. She really was lucky to find a guy like him.

*Flashback*

"I cannot believe him!"

Ali and Katherine were playing with a year-old Kyle on the floor when Virgie came into the house upset.

"What did Miles do now," Katherine asked.

Whenever Virgie got this upset it usually meant that Miles did something stupid.

"He broke Jerry's nose," Virgie explained sitting on the couch.

"For what," Ali asked surprised.

"For talking to me," Virgie declared.

"You're kidding," Katherine declared

"Nope. I was in the cafeteria eating my lunch when Jerry sits next to me. We started talking and Jerry starts telling me this funny joke and that's when Miles shows up. He started accusing Jerry of hitting on me and Jerry explained that it was big misunderstanding. They started arguing and suddenly Miles threw the first punch and broke Jerry's nose. That's when things got really out of hand. Jim and Horace had to break them up. I didn't want to stick around and listen to Miles' bullshit excuses so I left," Virgie explained.

"Are you okay," Ali asked.

"Not really. I'm just... I'm just sick of this. Every time Miles sees me with another guy he freaks out," she said.

"I know Miles can be a pain in the ass but he does love you," Katherine pointed out.

"And that's another thing. We've been together for a year now and not once did he say 'I love you' to me," Virgie declared.

"Wait you guys haven't said 'I love you' yet? I mean, you love him, don't you," Katherine asked.

"Of course I do! I just don't want to jinx it. I have a bad history of saying the 'L' word to the wrong guy. They end up leaving and I don't want that to happen with Miles because... I want him to be the one," Virgie explained.

Kyle started to cry and Ali took him in her arms.

"Oh! Don't cry baby boy. Mommy has you," she assured him.

"I think he needs a diaper change," Katherine said.

"I think you're right. I'll be back in minute," Ali said.

Ali exit the room, trying to calm down a cranky Kyle.

Katherine decide to sit next to Virgie on the couch.

"Don't be so hard on the guy. He means well," Katherine said.

"I know. He just drives me crazy sometimes," Virgie said.

"Of course he does. He's a guy. They do crazy and stupid things. But it's our job to knock some sense into them," she pointed out.

She was about to say something when they began to hear rain pouring outside.

"Oh great, rain. The end to a perfect day," Virgie said sarcastically.

"At least we're inside," Katherine pointing out.

As they listened to the rain for a few moments it was replaced by the sound of music, that played over the speakers. Everyone at Dharma could hear it.

"What the hell," Virgie exclaimed.

"Is that 'My Girl'," Katherine asked confused.

Virgie listened for a moment before she realized it was My Girl. What's going on?

"Virgie!"

They turned to see Ali coming back to the room with not so cranky baby Kyle in her arms.

"You might want to look outside," she told her friend.

Virgie looked at Ali confused but did what said. As she looked outside she didn't see anything besides the rain. But then she sees a dark figure standing in front of the house. It took her a moment to realize who it was.

"Is that Miles," Katherine asked surprised.

Katherine and Ali joined their friend at the window as they stared at the man that was outside their house looking like some crazy axe murderer.

"Yeah. He's finally lost it," Virgie commented.

"He's gonna catch he's death of cold out there," Ali said.

"One can only hope," she said.

"Virgie, I'm serious. Go out there and get him," Ali scolded.

"No way! I'm still mad at him," Virgie declared.

"I know you're kind of pissed because your boyfriend is an idiot, but come on. It's raining cats and dogs out there. And once he's inside you can ignore him all you want," Katherine encouraged.

Despite the voice inside her head telling her to leave the jerk where he was and prayed he got hit by lightning she knew was gonna cave in. Without bothering to grab an umbrella from the closet Virgie went outside to confront her insane boyfriend.

"Hey!" Miles greeted her.

"Miles, what are you doing," she asked him.

"Standing in the rain," he shrugged.

"I can see that but why? And what's with the music?"

"You like it? I had Jerry set it up for me," Miles explained.

"Jerry? Doesn't he hate you right now," she asked surprised.

"Oh yeah, he hates my guts. But I talked to him and we came to an understanding," Miles said.

"How much did you pay him?"

Jerry was a good enough guy but he would sell his own grandfather for a buck when given the chance.

"Fifty bucks and I let him take a swing at me. He got me really good too."

That's when notice that Miles' right eye was pretty bruised up.

"You could have called," she suggested.

"You have hung up on me if I did. And if I tried to come over you would have slammed the door in my face. I just... I just wanted to say that I'm sorry," Miles admitted.

It was the same song and dance. Miles does something incredibly stupid that makes her mad and he apologizes in the craziest way. Though she was a romantic she was getting tired of the jealously and paranoia that Miles always seems to wear on his sleeve whenever another man is involved.

"Miles I don't get you. Why do you always act this way? It's like you don't trust me," she said sadly.

"I trust you more than anyone. It's just that I've never been in this situation before."

What was he talking about, she thought.

"What do you mean?"

"If you were any other woman I wouldn't care half as much. Hell, I probably would just ignore you and you would be long gone by now. But you're not, you're the woman I love," Miles said.

Wait, did he just say...

"There I said it," he confessed. Miles looked so frustrated but he continued. "I love you! I love you so damn much that it hurts. Sometimes I wonder why you're with me. I'm no prize. I'm obnoxious. I talk to dead people. I leave the toilet seat up yet you're still here. It's like you have this iron grip on my heart that refuses to let go. I've had women leave me before and I've managed to live with that. But I can't live without you," he confessed.

Virgie stood there dumbfounded by what Miles said. She couldn't believe he actually said he loved her. Even though she wanted to say 'I love you' back she had to ask...

"Do you really mean that," she asked hopefully.

"I'm standing in the pouring rain, declaring my love for you with the Temptations playing in the background! If that's not love I don't know what is. Seriously, I feel like I'm in one of those romantic comedy movies," he said.

That was all she needed as she moved toward Miles and kissed him. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders as he wrapped his arms around his waist. They held each other as they poured their love into a single kiss. When they finally pulled apart Virgie looked into his eyes.

"I love you too. I've never loved anyone the way I love you," she said.

Miles pressed his forehead to hers and held her tight, not wanting to let go.

"You know if this really was a romantic comedy this would be the part where the guy pulls out a ring and ask his girl to marry him," she joked.

Miles slowly steps back and reaches for something in his pocket.

"You mean like this," he said, showing her the ring.

"Oh my god!" Virgie declared.

"You know I was gonna write this big fancy speech but I'm just gonna wing it. Virgie you are the most amazing woman I have ever met. When I'm with you I'm happy. I mean honest to god, I've got fucking sunshine, happy. But the only thing that would be even better... is spending the rest of my life making you happy. I want to make you laugh. I want to take care of you when you're sick. All I ask in return are your smiles. Because it's proof that I finally did something right. So what do you say? Wanna marry me," he asked nervously.

"Yeah! I really do!" Virgie yelled with happiness.

Miles tries to put the ring on her finger but it falls into the mud.

"Oh shit!" he declared.

They both searched for the ring but the mud and the pouring rain made it difficult. Finally Miles managed to find the ring and slip on Virgie's finger. It was a little muddy but she didn't care. She was getting married! Virgie threw her arms around him and they both fell in the mud, laughing.

*End of Flashback*

Virgie puts the wedding picture in the bag and goes into Miley's bedroom. Miley smiles at her mother as she reaches inside the crib.

"Come on sweet baby," Virgie said, lifting her up.

Virgie steps inside the living room and takes one last look at the house she and Miles has called home the last two years. She really didn't want to leave. But if things didn't go as planned there was gonna be trouble and she needed to Miley out of here. With a heavy heart she headed out the door and into the unknown.

Meanwhile...

Natalie walked up to the Dharma's daycare to pick up Kyle. Ali couldn't do it because she had to take care of a few things. And the others were busy preparing to leave this place. Natalie didn't have anything better to do so she volunteered to pick up the boy. Sawyer said they were all suppose to meet up in the jungle where he marked a few trees as a meeting spot. Natalie knocked on the door and a woman answered the door.

"Hello! Can I help you," she asked Natalie.

"Hi! Are you Suzy?"

"Yes."

"My name is Natalie. Ms. Raymond asked me to pick up her son," Natalie said politely.

"Oh! Please come in. Are you one of the new people that came on the sub yesterday," Suzy asked her.

"Yeah. I came here with my mom," she answered.

"The brunette with the freckles," Suzy asked.

"Yeah that's her. You wouldn't think we're related but I look more like my dad than my mom," Natalie explained.

"Where is your father," Suzy asked.

"He's dead."

"Oh I'm sorry," Suzy said.

I'm not. I'm glad I killed the bastard, Natalie thought.

"How do you like the island?"

"It's... overwhelming," Natalie declared.

"Don't worry sweetie. After a couple weeks it will start to feel like home," Suzy assured her.

Natalie followed her into the backyard where a bunch kids were playing and running around. Kyle was playing in the sand box with a little blonde boy.

"Kyle honey! It's time to go," Suzy called out to him.

Kyle looked up and smiled. He got up and walked over to the two women.

"Natalie!" Kyle declared, throwing his arms around her waist.

"Hey Kyle," Natalie greeted.

"You two know each other," Suzy asked surprised.

"Um... yeah. My mom and I met Ms. Raymond yesterday when we were exploring the place," Natalie lied.

"Where's mommy," Kyle asked curious.

"Mommy couldn't make it today so she sent me. Is that okay," Natalie asked him.

"Yeah!" he said excitedly.

"Well, I can see Kyle is in good hands. Tell Ali I said hi," Suzy said.

"I will. Come on buddy," Natalie said, taking Kyle's hand.

Natalie and Kyle quickly left the daycare. They were walking pass the garage when they noticed some kind of commotion. She was going to ignore them but Kyle had other ideas when he saw Dan.

"Daddy!" he cried, running toward him.

"Kyle!" Natalie yelled running after him.

Natalie managed to catch up to him as he reached his father. That's when she finally noticed everyone. Standing behind Dan with Jack and Kate pointing guns at some Dharma guys, who were also pointing guns at them.

"Guys, what's going on," Natalie asked concerned.

"Natalie, get out of here," Jack told her.

The man in the glasses points his gun at Natalie and Kyle but Kate points her gun at him.

"I swear if you hurt those kids, you'll regret it," Kate threaten him.

Natalie wrapped her arms protectively around Kyle. Okay, things are starting to get ugly.

"Please! Let me take Kyle back home to his mother. He's just a boy. He shouldn't see this," Natalie tried to reason with the man.

"Shut up! You're not going anywhere until I get some answers," the man with the glasses declared.

"Don't point that gun at my son," Dan threated him.

Radzinsky backhands Dan who staggers back.

"No!" Kyle yells and kicks Radzinsky really hard in the shins.

"Ah! You little monster!"

Dan tackles Radzinsky before he can grab Kyle. Soon a fight breaks out, where they start shooting each other. One of Radzinsky's men tries to grab Kyle but Natalie grabs a screwdriver from the tool box and stabs him in the neck with it. Natalie didn't even bother to look at the man he was bleeding to death as she quickly gathers Kyle in her arms and makes a run for it with Kate following right behind them.

"Get in quick!" Kate yelled, pointing to the jeep ahead of them.

Kate gets behind the wheel. Natalie looks back and sees Jack half carrying, half dragging Dan, who was bleeding around his neck. They weren't gonna make it. She had to help.

"Stay here and keep your head down, okay? I'll be right back," she told Kyle, as she carefully placed him in the backseat.

"What are you doing," Kate asked her.

"I have to help them."

"Natalie!"

But she wasn't listening. She runs toward Jack and Dan.

"Jack, give me your gun," she told him.

"What do you think you're doing," Jack asked her.

"Helping! Give me your gun. I'll cover you," she said.

Jack looked unsure but they started shooting again. He gives her the gun and she starts shooting at Radzinsky and his men. She managed shoot two in the chest.

"Natalie come on!" Jack shouted.

She quickly runs to the jeep, where she climbs in front. Kyle was in the back with Jack as he tries to treat Dan's wound.

"Go! Go!" Natalie yelled to Kate.

Kate quickly drove as far away from Dharma as she could. Just when Natalie thought things couldn't get any worse the island always proved her wrong.

Island 2007

Grace couldn't believe what she was seeing. Her father, who was suppose to be dead, was standing right in front of her.

"Um, is this a dream? Am I dreaming? I mean, you guys see him too right," Grace asked her friends.

"Yeah dude, but I'm surprise you guys can," Hurley said.

"What do you mean," Mira asked confused.

"Well... I kind of talk to dead people. It's sort of my thing," Hurley explained.

Grace turned back to her father who just smiled at her.

"Sweetheart. I can't tell you happy I am to see you. I would hug you but..." Benny shrugged.

"I am so confused right now," she confessed.

"I know you are. You probably have a lot of questions. And I promise to answer them the best I can," Benny explained.

"Dad? Why am I here? Why are me and Virgie connected to this place," Grace asked.

"You two were born here. When your brothers were two and your mom was pregnant with you sister, Laurie convince me to move to the island. After Virige was born everything was great. We were happy. But Laurie started getting sick. She was having nose bleeds and feeling dizzy all the time. I wanted to leave the island but your mom refused. Apparently protecting the island has always been a sacred duty passed on in her family. The longer we stayed the worst she got so I had to take matters into my own hands. One day I slipped something in her food to knock her out for a few hours. I took her along with your brothers and sister off the island. When she regained consciousness she was angry. She told me that I had no right to take her away like that. But I couldn't stand by and watch her die. After that things were different. We would fight over every little thing. When your mom was pregnant with you I thought things would get better. That we could go back to the way we used to be. But your mother had other plans," Benny explained.

"What did she do," Grace asked.

"She asked help from a friend of hers, Richard Alpert, and he helped her get back at the island. No sooner did she arrive that she went into labor. They took her to some temple, where she gave birth to you. But... there were complications."

"What kind of complications?" Mira asked.

"Laurie nearly died giving birth. There was so much blood, but she survived. You both did. When I found out where your mother was I demanded that Richard take me to the island. When I arrived I was told that you had to stay on the island. Even though there were a few who were born on the island you were the first to be born in the temple, which meant you were extra special. In the dead of night I took you from your crib and boarded the submarine to you away from here. Soon your mother followed us and she was furious with me. It turns out as punishment for taking you, both me and my mother were forever banished from the island. I honestly couldn't be happier while Laurie was completely miserable. I tried everything to make it work between us but your mother wouldn't have any of it," he said sadly.

"Did you really cheat on mom the night you left," Grace asked her father.

She wanted to ask that question her whole life. She heard answers from different people but she wanted to hear from the man himself.

"No, but your mother thought I did. Vanessa was an old friend of mine and it was just nice spending time with a woman without arguing with them. I think she did know the truth she just wanted an excuse to end things. She gave up on us," he answered.

"But, if you weren't cheating why did you leave?"

"The night before I left I got a call from Richard. He told me that they were coming to get you and take you back to the island, by force if necessary. So I made a deal with them."

"What kind of deal," Hurly asked.

"That I would take Grace's place instead," Benny said.

"You-you took my place," Grace asked in disbelief.

"It was the only way to protect you and the rest of the family," he said.

Oh my god! She couldn't believe that her father gave up everything to save her. All her life, her mother painted the man as a bastard that abandon his family and never came back.

"Dad, how... how did you die," Grace asked afraid.

As much as she didn't want to know the details of her father's death but she had to know.

"I was in the jungle for a walk when all of a sudden this black smoke appeared. And it was strange because it wasn't normal smoke. It was as if it were... alive. Everything happened so fast because the next thing I knew it grabbed me and it started choking me and then... everything became dark," he explained.

Grace gasp in shock. Oh my god!

"It's all right honey. This isn't your fault," he assured his daughter.

"You're right. It's mom's," Grace snapped.

"Grace..."

"It's her fault that you're dead! She cared more about this stupid island than her own family. Don't you hate her for that?"

"I can never hate your mother. And I don't regret what happen. I would do it again if it meant keeping you safe."

"How can you say that? Because of her I grew up without you! Virgie, Jeric and Josh have memories of you except me. I don't have anything and mom robbed me of that. I'll never forgive her for this," Grace cried.

God, she didn't know what to do. She was just so angry.

"Grace, look at me," her father begged.

Grace looked up at her father with tears in her eyes. Benny tried to touch her cheek but his hand goes right through her. Benny looked at her in sadness.

"I understand you're angry. But sometimes we have to make sacrifices to protect the ones we love."

"But it's not fair," Grace said weakly.

"I know and as hard as it is for me to admit it, you belong here. This is your birthright."

"What?! No! I don't want this! I don't want any of this! I just want to go home," Grace cried.

"I'm so sorry honey, but you don't have a choice. If you don't play your role everyone will die."

"Wait a minute. What do you mean by that," Mira asked concerned.

Benny turned his attention to Mira, who wanted nothing more than to run.

"You must be Mira. I've heard a lot about you," Benny told her.

"From who," she asked confused.

"Mark's father," he said simply.

Mira's eyes widen with shock. Before Mira could response Benny turned his attention back to his daughter, which she was grateful for.

"Now are you ready to listen to me," Benny asked.

"Um, I think we should hear your dad out. I mean, if there's one thing you can count on about dead people... they don't lie," Hurley told Grace.

Grace really didn't want any part of this, but if she wanted to find her sister and get off this island, she had to play her part.

"Okay, I'm listening," Grace said.
