"Roy..."

She stared in disbelief. The boy she once knew stood in front of her once again. Except now, he stood there as a new man. She didn't know what to say or where to even begin. All he did was smile at her. "I've missed you, Sam. For so long I wanted to see you."

"W-what are you doing here?" She didn't know what else to ask. "The same reason you are here; I was summoned here." He reached out to touch her, but she took a few steps back. She felt her back bump against someone's chest. She turned to see Ike with a drink in his hand. "Samus, are you alright?" he said with a concerened look on his face. She looked like she had seen a ghost. "Ike I-" She turned back to Roy, still not believing he was actually there. Ike turned to look at Roy. "Is he bothering you?" Samus took a deep breath, and looked down. She held her arm with her free hand before answering. "No, Ike this is Roy, Roy this is-"

"Ike, I know who he is." Roy's smiled dropped and his face grew somber when he mentioned Ike's name. "Roy? As in that Roy?" Ike asked. Samus simply nodded in response. "Oh... wow... but wasn't he..?" Ike's was also suddenly at a loss for words.

Samus felt the uneasiness from the three. "Ike, can we take a rain check? I think I need time to figure things out with Roy."

"Oh... yeah of course. See you tomorrow?" She smiled and nodded. He gave her a smile back, kissing her on the forehead, and then turned to walk away. Once he was far enough, he couldn't help but look back. He didn't know why, but he didn't like the thought of Samus being alone with Roy. Since they didn't end with closure, he knew she needed to figure things out with him. Although he knew this well, he still wanted to be there for her. He didn't want her to go through that pain again. As he watched as she talked to Roy, something inside stirred. No, he didn't like this feeling at all.

Samus held both her arms and stared off into the nearby crashing waves. She turned towards Roy looking down taking a deep breath. "So what are you doing here Roy?" She finally calmed her thoughts and started think clearly as she rose her head to look at him. "I told you Sam-" He began before she interrupted. "No Roy, what are you REALLY doing here, with me?" His facial expression softened. His eyes stared deeply in to hers. "I came to see you. I love you Sam, isn't that reason enough?"

Anger suddenly arose in her. "What do you do you want me to say? Do you honestly think you can just come here and say you are sorry, and then everything will be okay?! Dont you think I deserve an explaination? Don't you think you owe me that much?" He reached out and grabbed her hand in both of his. "I know Sam. I know what I did was wrong, and I can't change the past, but let me make it right in the present." He took both her hands in his as he intently looked at her as her eyes turned away from him. "Look, I've had years to think about this- to think about all we had and all that we could be. Samus, I can't imagine a future without you in it."

"No, no!" She snatched her hands back. "You think it was easy for me?! You left me without a single word of goodbye. You dont think my life wasn't a marathon from hell without you? I was all alone, and I had no idea what I was doing!"

"You don't have to do it alone anymore. Just tell me what I have to do." He gently held her shoulders and with a bitter-sweet smile, he let a tear fall. " I don't want us to end like this, I'd do anything for you Sam. Just tell me how, and I'll do it for you."

"How? How can you just disappear like that? How do you expect me to go back when hurt me like that? how-" Her emotions finally got the better of her. She let tears fall down her cheeks. Tears she held in for so many years. He pulled her in to a soft embrace and placed his hand on the back of her head. He knew the pain he caused Samus's heart was far worse than anything she had experienced. He knew that mending the broken pieces of Samus's past would take more than a mere apology or sorrowful tears. Samus had always built walls to protect herself, and now they were built against him. Knowing her all too well, it would take time, and all the sincereity he had to give. However, he promised himself as he held her in his arms, he would never let her go again.
