Kaigo's POV

I collapsed.

I took the hit.

And now I'm on the floor.

I feel blood oozing out of my wound, is this what it's like to be impaled? I'm surprised that Cinder never did this when she was torturing me.

I open my eyes, and the first sight I saw was Ruby's concerned gaze meeting my lifeless look.

She was about to cry my name and rush over here, but I stopped her by putting my hand out. Well, I wanted to put my hand out, but it ended up as hand flop.

Surprisingly with that gesture, she shuddered, now unsure if she should approach me and leave her fight.

I managed to move my leg and make it to a crouching position, with one leg at a right angle allowing me to rest on it and the other still limp on the ground.

"Kaigo?" Weiss said, sounding half in shock by my act and concerned for my well being.

"I'm...fine," I breathed, while pushing off of my knee to a standing position.

I swayed a little before adjusting to two legs, my sight was now locked on Weiss' opponent.

Now I felt four other gazes linger on me, if they came to my aid and left their fight then the enemy could easily approach the vault.

"Guys…" I stopped to inhale a large breath of air, "face what's in front of you! if you let your opponent go, then that'll give them enough time to get to the vault!" With that quick order I was now back to slowly swaying with stumbles left and right. I was beginning to lose consciousness, I just needed to withstand this pain for a minute.

"Weiss I'll give you 7 seconds, just don't waste them," I peered back at her than back forward.

"A-alright," she stuttered.

"Hmph, buy 7 seconds? You won't even able to buy one in that state!" My opponent mocked, if she didn't seem confident before she definitely was now! My reply to this was taking off and straightening my jumper in order to tie it around my wound.

"We'll see about that…" I replied in a vile tone as the flame on my silver eye began to vigorously flicker, causing claws to come out of my hands.

And with that we both rushed each other at the same time meeting with claw against blade. I swiped it down and used my free hand to try and slash at her face, but she jumped back and began unloading rounds.

I ran towards her and weaved my way through the stream. I was now close enough to strike her, so I skipped of the ground with my tail and spun once anticlockwise. I stuck my hand out to swipe at her face, but she deflected it with ease, I landt and brought out my gun while at the same time brought the deflected claw back around.

Even though it was unexpected, she still blocked the claw, but she didn't notice the gun almost pressed against her body. I pulled the trigger and she jumped back just before, but she landt while holding her side so the bullet must have at least skimmed her,

"You little…" she seemed infuriated by my counter and rushed me, I attempted to dodge by I felt lifeless, using my claws and ignoring my wound has already token a deadly toll on my body.

I couldn't take it anymore. Not only is the use of the claws risky and draining, but the pain from the hole was now beginning to mess with my depth perception, I couldn't tell when the attack was going to hit me!

She buckled back her fist and prepared to slice my face in two, I closed my eyes and expected even more immense pain, but instead I heard the sound of metal clanging against metal.

I opened my eyes and saw a giant silver sword in my line of sight, I then felt a hand on my shoulder,

"You've done enough, take a rest now,"

And with that reassuring statement I collapsed on the spot and fell unconscious.

Ruby's POV

I heard a body hit the floor quite abruptly. I looked to over where Weiss was and saw Kaigo's body laying there lifeless, I felt a my eyes begin to sting, but I reassured myself with a simple statement.

He's not dead… and he's not going to die.

I calmed myself down, Kaigo's main motives were keeping the group concentrated on their fights and for me to not lose control… Whatever that meant.

"Hey focus on the fight," my attention was snapped back to Emerald, who had already threw her chain at me.

I brought up my scythe up to defend myself and it measeasly bounced off of the blade. She retracted it and her revolvers changed into sickles. I charged at her and swung at her right side, she stopped it with one of her sickles and attacked with her other. I jumped back while I positioned my scythe backwards. I pulled the trigger and was sent flying into her again, I bent my leg and stretched it out on the moment of impact, even though the force of my attack was immense, Emerald still blocked it with an X-block.

She knocked me away by slashing with them outwards, but I still landt fine,

"Wow Ruby, you've gotten much better," she smirked, bringing two fingers to her temple, "but it won't be enough,"

Just as she finished her sentence, multiple clones appeared and they surrounded me. They all brought out their sickles and prepared to attack.

I stuck my scythe out and spun, slicing all 8 of them...but it didn't work!

It was as if my scythe just phased right through them. They all smirked then jumped towards me, I used my semblance to rise and lower myself out of the circle.

I landt and was surrounded instantaneously, I didn't want to repeat of what happened, so instead I pulled the trigger to Crescent Rose and was sent through the clone and to the real Emerald.

I brought my weapon forth and swung vertically at her, hammering my weapon towards the ground, however it phased right through and the copy disappeared.

Did I get her?

The confusion left me open to what happened next, a very real chain wrapped around my scythe and it was ripped away from my grip.

"You might as well give up now," it landed near Emerald's feet, "I know you're completely useless without this,"

My eyes stared her down calmly, she didn't know that throughout my time in Haven, I've been practising for this very predicament.

I searched for any openings, but instead, I found something else that was quite off-putting.

Kaigo's knife was missing.

I looked around on the ground for it and found it at the bottoms of the staircase, unretracted. I looked at Crescent Rose by Emerald's feet and figured my chances in getting a weapon would be better if I went for the knife, but then again, I don't know the first thing about it.

"Want this back?" The mint-green haired woman taunted as she picked it up, "well go fetch!" She planted a foot in the ground and tossed it up and away, wedging it in a wall.

I clicked my tongue, that left me with Kaigo's knife, sure I could get it back, but it'll take some time.

Emerald began to slowly walk towards me, then she broke a run with her sickles out ready to attack.

She swiped inwards from both ends, aiming for my waist and torso, I jumped back to avoid it but she leapt forward again, this timeswiping outwards.

I used my semblance to warp behind her and went for a cross for the back of her head. I knew it wouldn't work, if it didn't connect with Kaigo then it probably won't connect with Emerald either.

Just like expected, she turned and caught my fist and began to swing me until she had enough momentum to fling me into a wall.

She released me and I was heading directly to where Weiss was.

"Weiss! catch me!" I yelled gaining her attention and landing on a black glyph.

I paused before dismounting, because I caught a glimpse of Kaigo's lifeless body.

I launched off of the glyph filled with anger,

If I didn't send him off to help Weiss, then maybe he wouldn't be like this.

My punch was stopped by the the two hilts of the sickles, but Emerald's guard was broken by the force of my attack.

No, the outcome would have been the same with Weiss and I would still be feeling the same anger.

I landed with my right leg bent and launched off it.

Maybe I'm just mad because I couldn't protect him like he did with Qrow.

I brought my elbow up and reinforced it with my other hand.

Oh wait…

I made it seem as if I was going to pummel her gut, causing her to protect that area, however just before I connected, my left leg skipped off the floor and I hit her in the chin with the top of my head.

Maybe I already did…

"Run Ruby…. please run, before I lose control,"

Emerald stumbled back and held the bottom of her chin, I took this chance to casually walk towards Kaigo's knife, I picked it up, and held it by my waist. She was now charging at me with frustration.

Then why do I feel like this?

She swiped with only one sickle from the right, I leaned back enough for it to swoop over me, however, she had her revolver aimed at my head and ready to fire.

Why do I feel like I can't let him get hurt.

I covered my face with the blade of the knife and reinforced it with my other hand, she pulled the trigger and the bullet collided with blade. It did knock me off my legs, but I used my hand to land… and spring away from another shot.

Do I feel sorry about his past?

I landt on two feet and charged her straight away, not giving her a chance to ready up again. I went for a straight jab, but Emerald ignored it and instead went for a swing at my head.

Am I unconsciously protecting him from any more suffering?

'Umm Weiss! you should probably stay away from that topic! let's talk about something else! yeah guys?'

At the same time, we caught each others attack, I used Kaigo's knife to block the sickle and Emerald used the barrel of her revolver. I swiped the swickle away, dismissing it for the moment and grabbed the revolver and swatted it to the ground, leaving her open.

Then…

I pulled my fist back, but she had already jumped away.

What is it?

I bursted into roses and appeared behind her in midair and delivered my cross to the back of her head, causing her to fall limp and to fall with a thud.

I landt before her body and retracted Kaigo's knife, I stared at my hands and thought.

What… just happened, there's no way I was able to pull that off with as little as 12 hours of training...right?

"Ruby come quick!" Everyone except Yang and Oscar was crowded around Kaigo's body. I got closer and saw Jaune holding his hands above his wound.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"Jaune is healing him, I'm pretty sure it's his semblance!" Nora replied as she turned to me.

"No… I don't think it's my semblance, I think I'm giving him my aura, and amplifying his,"

I don't know why, but my mind was beginning to piece bits of information together due to Jaune's statement.

If Kaigo has possessed Utsu's that means its his body and not Kaigo's, I mean earlier when he defended me from that fireball, silver aura fissures were sent throughout his body. If Jaune really is amplifying his aura, then isn't all going straight to Utsu?

My eyes scurried to his face, and it seemed off, it didn't look like he was in any pain from his wound, he seemed...calm. It was if he was waiting for something to happen.

My sight went from his face to his hair, and one glance was enough for me to grasp what happened. I opened my mouth, but it was too late...he had already disappeared.

"Wha-where did her go?" Jaune asked in shock.

"Over there!" Nora pointed to the back of the boy,

"Hey Kaigo, you shouldn't move around too much! Especially after being impaled!" Weiss shouted out.

"..." He didn't reply, he was too busy staring at his hands, opening and closing them.

"I've got to say," finally the boy spoke as he turned to all of us, "it's good to have my body back," if I hadn't reached an answer before, I had now, Utsu had gained control of his body again. His hair was white, both eyes silver and his look was the complete opposite to Kaigo's carefree look.

"Guys, go help Oscar, I'll take care of this," I stepped in front of everyone, only to be questioned by Jaune,

"What do you mean? Its Kaigo! What is their to take of!"

"No…" Ren finally noticed what had happened, "he's different, his hair is completely white and he has both silver eyes,"

"You don't mean…" Nora asked, only for me to order,

"Just go! I can handle this," everyone eventually complied and took off, leaving us two to a stand off,

"Really?" Utsu scoffed, "you think you can handle me, you don't even have your primary weapon and I doubt you could handle that knife the way he did!" I remained in silence, "anyway, you won't be fighting me, believe it or not, I have matters to attend to right this moment," his silver eyes became alight as a pair of fauness ears and a tail sprouted out, his pupils shifted into a cat's pupil and claws appeared at the tips of his fingers, "so, see ya later,"

He dashed passed me, in that moment when he was using his semblance, I felt immense power, Kaigo always said that he chose to possess him, but I'm beginning to think that he had to possess him.

I looked down at his knife, and clutched it.

I'm going to bring him back.

I clipped the blade to the side of my clothing.

But right now, I have to concentrate on what's in front of me.

I then spotted Crescent Rose and bursted into roses to grab its hilt. With a few heavy tugs, it became dislodged from the wall.

I fell, but softened my descent with an angled shot, I landt and went flying into battle with another shot.

Utsu's POV

I dashed past her and looked back, she was still standing, I thought she would of collapsed by feeling my power, but I guess not.

Their was already a large hole in the wall, so I went through that instead of the door and I was greeted to at least 1000 other fauness'.

They wouldn't be here... they'd probably be observing like the bastards they are.

Just blend in.

I walked down the stairs silently and merged into the back of the crowd, I peered into the middle where everyone else's attention was being occupied. I saw a man with red hair and a female with black hair, that was all I saw until I turned forward again. I quickened my pace and made it to where I could dismount from the rest.

I parted from the crowd, but one off step was all it took for me to get caught,

"Hey," I stopped in my place, "where are you going?" I turned back and saw a male fauness with his shirt fully unbuttoned and collar popped,

"You gonna button your shirt?" I asked, trying stray away from his question.

"Answer. The. Question." His arms were now folded.

"I'm going to see them," I turned to the forest then back to the blonde.

"And who is them?" He asked.

I flicked the switch and practically saw the goosebumps travel from his neck to his arms.

I charged in and aimed to pierce his heart with my claw.

It felt like I hit three walls before reaching him, but even so I charged through all of them.

He jumped back hesitantly, I stopped in my place and gazed at him, he was holding his chest. I looked at my right hand and saw blood.

"You gonna let me go now?" I asked, whipping the blood away with one swipe.

"Grh," he seemed to still be in pain, I took that as my yes, I turned and took off to the nearest branch and began my journey.

I peered back and saw him collapsed on the ground with clenched fists.

I smirked.

I loved leaving my opponents like that, on the ground and in awe at what I did, it gave me a sense of...joy.

Joy knowing that I was stronger.

Joy knowing I was superior.

I kept leaping from branch to branch until a gunshot was heard, I quickly stationed myself on the next branch and saw a bullet whizzing past.

Mom.

I heard trees falling one by one, eventually my one fell to as I hoped back down to the ground.

Dad.

I landt and looked up at the two figures before me, one muscular, one slender, both succumbed in the shadows. The slender one, gun in both arms, emerged first and spoke

"Utsu? Is that you?"

"Of course it is! What? You don't recognise your own son anymore!" I answered, slightly annoyed that they didn't realise who approached them.

My mom let out a gasp before almost crying,

"No! It couldn't be, if you're here that that means…"

"That means I've finally done it, all that's left is a few quick lies," My father scraped his knuckle dusters together and let of sparks.

"Well, I'm going to do what I've been soughtng out to do," I readied up and so did father and mother.

"Really? And what is that?" Father taunted.

"Ending. Your. Lives."

My mother jumped up into a branch, then went deeper in the forest. I lunged towards my dad and had my claw ready to swipe at his face.

Wait!

I hesitated, and that delayed my attack, the gap was wide enough for him to catch my arm and throw me to a tree. I positioned my arms backwards and my claws pierced into the trunk, however, the same sniper shot rang through the air. I quickly dismounted and avoided a sniper shot.

"What's the matter kiddo? I know you're better than that!" my father taunted.

What was that voice?

I charged in again, attempting to block the subject out of my mind, I brought my claw up and angled in to his chest, he attempted to block me by meeting my attack with his knuckle duster. At the moment before impact I slipped past it with a little shimmy to the left and continued to pierce his chest.

Let me change them!

I hesitated again, father didn't notice, but mother certainly did. Two gunshots were heard throughout the air this time, I predicted the first to be right where I was standing, threading the needle past my dad to me, so I jumped back. However, the second took me by surprise as it was heading straight towards me. My tail latched onto a branch below and I was tugged downwards out of the bullets trajectory.

I landed and remained perched in order to gain my bearings…

What is that voice?

It couldn't be Kaigo's, I know he wasn't dead but he should still be passed out, so…

Who is it?

Kaigo's POV

"Wait!" I awoke from my slumber to a startling black abyss, "let me change them!" my weary eyes widened to see a single figure in white hair shouting those words.

"Huuuh" I meant to ask 'Who are you?' but my mouth was so dry that only guttural sounds would come out. Thankfully, the kid noticed and said with a toothy grin.

"Buckle up bro! You ain't done yet!"
