The next day, the tower was ready for the Hulk (or more accurately, a Bruce in a very potentially emotionally unstable state) to move in. Tony had been planning to make Petra her own room, giving him a better chance to get to know his daughter by how she decorated it, but Nick Fury had warned him that Petra had now agreed to be Hulk's handler and was not allowed more than ten feet away from him. That had been a very upsetting argument. After hacking into the files for more information about the deal, information that Nick didn't even try to hide from JARVIS, Tony admitted that he had no chance of stopping that deal. After that, he immediately tried and succeeded at washing any knowledge of whatever horrified him so much about the deal out with alcohol.

Still, Tony was fairly impressed by the room's modifications, even if he wasn't sure why he let Petra just share a room with Bruce. That room itself was much the same as before, with the same furniture, wallpaper, and decorations. The room did have some changes however. The ceiling tile, a flimsy material, had been replaced with actual tile with much higher structural integrity with Petra's wall crawling abilities in mind. To give at least some illusion that Petra would not be going anywhere near Bruce's bed, a hammock had been added close to the ceiling, a place easily accessible to Spiderman but inaccessible to Bruce. Bruce's bed had been exchanged for a much smaller one in furthering the illusion. To justify this change, however, the new bed was much more structurally stable and theoretically could survive the Hulk laying on it, even if the new size wouldn't be any more comfortable for him than the bedposts on the previous model. Tony was fairly certain the bed would last agenst the test, however. It's design was based of the bed that had survived countless of Tony's one-nighters.

In keeping with Fury's desire to keep Hulk contained, the whole Avenger's set of rooms were reinforced. The outside walls of the floors were thickened with the Hulk-proof glass that would stall any Hulk escape attempts. The doors were all low enough that Hulk couldn't get through them without some easily fixed damages, enough to remind Hulk not to escape. The labs, were all sorts of dangerous things could be destroyed, had the sleeping glass set to release immediately if the Hulk entered them or escaped from Bruce's control in there. The other rooms needed someone to tell JARVIS to activate the sleeping gas and the Hulk to be spotted in the room in question before it would fire. That should be enough to keep the Hulk from accidental escape without being unwelcoming to Bruce, or more accurately, Bruce's girlfriend who was quick to stand up and verbally defend him.

Some other things were changed to better welcome Petra. All of the ceilings were replaced with a sturdier and more easily cleaned material in preparation for a wall crawler's arrival. The air ducts, which had been widened for Hawkeye, now had some motion sensor lights, just in case Petra was interested in them. The fridges were stocked with a few more pizzas than normal, just in case she was hungry. A few thermoses were added to the kitchen after security feeds from the place that she was staying as the renovations were being made showed her frequently using them. Hopefully that would be enough to make up for his bad first impression.

The move into Avengers tower wasn't easy on Bruce either. There were countless worries about seeing Tony again that Petra calmed him down from. He had numerous worries about having Tony and Petra in the same room together that Petra now knew. Worries about how Steve was doing in the barrowed containment cell stressed Bruce. With how many times that she talked Bruce down from a Hulk-out or contained the Hulk until Bruce could regain control, Bruce was starting to see the benefits to having Petra as a handler.

Nick Fury himself was already pleased by the results of making Petra Bruce's handler. The situation with Steve would have been much worse if Petra hadn't been there to mediate for Hulk, even if that Hulk-out was caused partially by Petra's presence. Tony himself was fairly abrasive, and Nick hadn't been eager to explain damages to the World Security Council, nor had he been willing to force Tony to abandon the person who he had formed some friendship with to the wilderness of third-world-countries or life of an illegal immigrant. Tony and the Council would have had him stuck in a balancing act between two equally hard places, with Tony being the more immediate threat. Spiderman had managed to solve that.

When Spiderman had first appeared, it hadn't been anything worth notice. Still, three years of patrol over New York city did have him known, and the way they handled the Lizard-mutant problem had ticked of the green boxes for being a potential threat. Various battles, nearly staged in their ridiculously low casualties and high number of bystanders, had proven Spiderman's abilities. It had been enough to make her a target for more information. The story of Spiderman was best discovered when the Lizard, the most dangerous of Spiderman's challengers, had been taken into Shield custody to better learn about her. The story of how she came about was fairly interesting, but nothing that was that fantastical in the grand scheme of things. Learning who she was affiliated with and who she obeyed- yuck! Even he didn't want to think about it more than necessary.

Spiderman hadn't been recruited for the suspected invasion for the simple fact that it wasn't worth the effort it would take to secure her loyalty. Her arrival at the battle itself wasn't appreciated initially for the simple fact that it lowered Shield's control of the situation. That opinion was changed when her webs caught a majority of the invaders before they could cause collateral damage. There were still things to fix, but it wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been, even if the disappearance of most of the bodies was disconcerting. Still, not worth getting involved.

It was just silly to hear her mirror the same sentiments to the Avengers. By then, she still was not worth the effort. The way she contained Hulk's appearance and talked down a situation that could have potentially split up the Avengers changed that. With an opportunity to fully utilize the Hulk as more than just a destructive, but loose cannon, gaining control was now worthwhile, regardless of what it took to keep her.

Nick never wanted to think about the discussion that it took to gain Spiderman's loyalty. He didn't want to think about why he couldn't get her cooperation for anything less. It was discussing how pleased she was with what little payment she was initially offered. He had expected to use the excuse of her debate to give her a little more and set comfortable boundaries between her opinion and her job. The way that any Stark could easily sign over her primary goal in life was just disconcerting for someone who had dealt with two generations of self-important people from that family made him- no, he didn't want to think about that.
