H is for Holiday Fun

-At the Dojo-

-Kim's POV-

It's the best time of the year! Christmas time…. I just get happy thinking about it. I know what you're thinking 'You only like Christmas because of the presents' well that's not true. I love Christmas because I get to spend time with family and friends. I love Christmas because of the spirit and cheer. It's such a joyful time of year. This Christmas was going to be extra special because my dad is actually home. I won't get into the details but let's just say my parents weren't, er, the best together.

At the moment I was sitting in the dojo with the gang waiting for Rudy. It is funny how this is his place yet he's always late coming. We are all about to go shopping for presents. I was in charge of making the groups of who goes with whom so nobody knows what people got. The groups go like this:

Jerry, Rudy, and I

Milton and Jack

Then we switch.

Jerry and Milton

Jack and I

And at that point Ms. Applebaum would come so her and Rudy go together.

I would say this is going to be a great day!

"Hey Kimmy" Jack said, sneaking up behind me.

"I told you to stop calling me that Jackie" I replied.

"Touché" I gave him a look of playful hatred and stuck my tongue out at him.

"Are you excited for today?" I asked him.

"Of course I am I'm partnered up with you for shopping later. And it's Christmas!" I giggled at his childish manner. Yeah, yeah, I may have a little crush on him, but tell anyone and I'll kill you.

We all got into our partners and walked out the door. Jerry, Rudy, and I stayed in silence for quite a long time. Mainly we all knew where to look and what to buy. Jerry got Milton a new study planner notebook thing that came with a free calculator. He got Jack a pair of nice shoes. And, he got Grace a little photo album of all of the pictures they took together. I think I should do the same thing with Jack.

Rudy got Ms. Applebaum a diamond bracelet and a matching necklace. He got Milton a new award case for all of his school trophies and ribbons. And, he got Jack a mug that says 'BEST KARATE STUDENT' which is very insulting to me since everyone knows I'm the best.

Lastly I got Milton a brand new science kit thingamabob. I got Jack an album with all of the pictures of us together and a bobble head of himself that I pre-ordered online. And, I got Grace a phone case that says besties on it.

The day was going great so far! Jerry was texting Jack and said that they weren't done shopping yet so we decided to go get something to eat at Falafel Phil's.

"Yo, this day is going great! I'm so excited for Christmas, it's going to be swag this year guys!" Jerry said, jumping up and down.

"Yeah it is! I really hope that Jack likes his gift," I said. The boys looked at me with an eyebrow raise.

"You so like him!" Rudy shouted, jumping up and pointing a finger at me.

"No I don't!" I really hope they bought that.

"Yes you obviously do. It is cool mamacita, we all know you do!" Jerry told me. I groaned and rolled my eyes.

"Let's just eat and switch partners already," I replied annoyed. After we ate Rudy texted Milton and said we were on our way to the dojo to switch partners. Milton quickly replied and said he was already there with Jack. The awkward silence continued as we made our way over to the dojo. As we got closer I spotted Jack and ran over.

"Hey! How was shopping with Milton?"

"Oh, it was just peachy! Nerd talk all throughout!" He shouted. I struggled to restrain a laugh.

"Well, you don't have to worry anymore, you have me now!" I said with a smile. Yeah, yeah, real subtle right? I can't even talk to him without showing that I like him!

"Yay! Let's go now; I was hoping to squeeze in some hot chocolate time," Jack said with a smile.

"Race you to 'Doctor Kicks'!" And with that we both ran over to the shoe store.

-10 minutes later-

-Still Kim's POV-

Why is he so cute? Why does he have to be so damn cute? Why? I shouldn't be thinking like this. I should be focused on beating people in karate tournaments, not how cute Jack is! Oh god, there he is, with that smile, and the hair, and the eyes. Why did I even agree to be his partner for the second shopping round? I should've picked Milton.

"So what do you think I should get Rudy, the bobble-head or the best karate teacher mug?" Jack asked me, showing me the two items.

"I would say the mug," I replied smiling. I mean Rudy did get him a mug that said best karate student on it.

"Why are you smiling? Did he get me a mug? OMG he got me a mug didn't he? He knows me so well! I love mugs!" He said, a little bit too excited about it.

"Don't look at me I said nothing. But he most likely got you a mug!" It was the damn face again, it made me tell him. It's so hypnotizing!

We continued shopping, shoes and headphones for Jerry, a mug and a bobble-head for Rudy, and a study kit for Milton. Jack ended up getting the mug so I decided to get the bobble-head for Rudy. Jack got the shoes for Jerry, again just a coincidence I didn't tell Jack what Jerry got him.

"Want to go get that hot chocolate?" Jack asked.

"Oh um, yeah sure, I would love to!" I replied. I know he's cute and I know him like the back of my hand, but maybe it can wait. I am having fun being his best friend.

Maybe I'll ask him out on New Year's Eve.

I don't know how I feel about this.

I don't know, I just don't.

Anyway, a new story might be up, I might be calling it Restarting Life. I was having a lot of fun writing that one. So Christmas Break has been a blast so far, no school for two weeks! 3 more days until Christmas! I am really excited.

Have any of you read the book 'The Summoning'? Because I'm reading it now and I love it!
