All mistakes are my own and I don't own Glee

Rachel knew that she had her work cut out for her. If she wanted Sebastian back, she'd have to do a lot to win him back but she was willing to do whatever it took to do just that.

First thing she had to do; tell Sebastian what had got her so freaked out about being in a relationship with him.

The first week of NYADA ended for Santana and Rachel and as soon as the weekend hit, she made her way over to Puck and Sebastian's place so she could tell him the whole sorry tale.

She knocked nervously on the door and waited. She was convinced that Sebastian would answer the door, see it was her and instantly close the door in her face. The thought made her feel sick.

After what felt like a lifetime to Rachel, the door opened and Puck was standing in front of her. "Hi Rachel." He greeted. "San's not here." He said instantly. "I think she's gone to work." He said, looking confused.

"I'm not here for Santana." Rachel said. She took a large gulp of air and tried to not let her nerves show. "I was wondering if I could speak to Sebastian?"

Puck smirked. "Come in. He's in his room. Make yourself comfortable and I'll go and get him for you." He said. Rachel was grateful to him for being so nice to her.

She walked in and sat down on the couch in the living room while Puck went and knocked on his roommate's bedroom door. Puck didn't have to wait long for his friend to answer the door.

"What do you want?" Sebastian groaned, rubbing his tired eyes. Puck could see easily that he'd only just woken up.

"Rachel." Puck said simply.

"What about her? Puck, I've only just woken up; this isn't the time for vague answers." Sebastian said bitterly.

"Rachel is in the living room; she's come to see you." Puck told him friend.

Sebastian stood stunned. Of all the things he saw coming; Rachel Berry coming to his apartment wasn't one of them.

"Go!" Puck urged, knocking Sebastian out of his stunned state.

Sebastian nodded and made his way to the living room.

Sebastian walked in and Rachel tried not to stare for too long at his naked torso. She blushed as she thought about how long it had been since she last saw it and it was only when Sebastian coughed in the back of his throat that Rachel was brought out of her daze.

"What do you want Rachel?" Sebastian asked. He knew he shouldn't be so short with her but he could help but feel shocked that she was sitting on the couch in his living room.

"I told you I was going to ring you back." She said like it was obvious.

"How is you coming to my place without notice helping your cause here?" Sebastian asked.

Rachel sighed and stood from her sitting position. "I know that the first step in wanting to get you back is to tell you what it is that got me so jittery about being in a serious relationship with you. So I thought I would."

Sebastian sighed. "I'm going to go in my room and get changed and then I'm going to come out and you can talk to me about it." He said before walking into his room without giving Rachel a chance to respond.

It didn't take long for him to come back out and after making Rachel a drink he sat down beside her on his couch and waited for her to begin her story.

She took a deep breath and began her story. She told him how was on the football team and she was the glee loser and it was like he'd rescued her from the abuse she got from her peers on a daily basis. Almost like a cliché waiting to happen. Their relationship went swimmingly to start with and she began to fall in love for the first time. However, as his popularity got higher, so did his distaste at having a 'loser' girlfriend - Not even her cheerleader best friends could change that. He'd find any chance to belittle her and shatter her confidence. He'd do it subtly so it was easy for Rachel to make excuses for him and leave her best friends wondering why she'd put up with it. He'd tell her she was ugly, worthless and that no one else would love her if she didn't have him.

The final nail in the coffin was when he openly cheated on her for everyone in the school to see. She was humiliated and even if she was able to offer an excuse for her cheating boyfriend, Santana would definitely not allow it. No words needed to be spoken – he knew he'd been caught; after all, he planned it like that; she was just suddenly single.

It took some time for her confidence and self-esteem to come back and that was helped greatly by Santana, Brittney, Finn and Quinn as well as her acceptance to NYADA which turned up days after the whole incident with her ex.

Meeting Sebastian had pleased and terrified her all at the same time. She thought she was ready to be with someone new and Sebastian was just what she was looking for – someone completely different to her ex – but apparently; and nothing annoyed her more; she hadn't quite let go of the past.

Rachel noticed, as she finished telling her story, that Sebastian had taken her hand at some point during the story and was now holding it.

"I'm sorry." She said to him. "I'm sorry I put you through all of that and I'm sorry I've been letting my past make an impact on my future."

Sebastian shook his head. "I just wish you'd told me before. I could have helped you." He told her soothingly.

Tears started to come to Rachel's eyes. "I just didn't want the same thing to happen. I was scared. Everything between us was going so well and I was terrified that this relationship was going to turn out exactly the same way."

"You still should have said something to me." Sebastian insisted. "That girl you described that you used to be; you're not her. Not that I've seen anyway. You're strong and determined and you fight for what you want. You don't seem like a girl who'd let a guy walk all over them."

"If you knew me before, you probably would have said the same thing." Rachel said bitterly.

"You've learnt from your mistakes and I don't see Rachel Berry as a girl who makes the same mistakes twice." Sebastian chuckled.

Rachel laughed and shook her head. "What does this mean for us?" Rachel asked eventually.

Sebastian sighed. "You said it yourself before. You've not quite let go of your past and maybe before we can be anything; you need to try and accept it and let go."

Rachel's breath caught in her throat. He wasn't turning her away?

"I think we should still see each other but maybe in social situations for a little while. I also think that you should work on yourself for a little while before we jump back into a relationship with each other." Sebastian offered.

"So, you're saying that we try and be friends?" she asked.

"I'm game if you are?"
