Chapter 10: Nashville Pt. 3

We were driving around after deciding on going for an early dinner. We ate a small restaurant that I went to regularly when I was here. It had good food and I was well known there. Brie and I sat in the back of the car while the guys sat in the front. Brie was talking about her wedding plans and she asked me if I wanted to take part in it. I simply told her that I would think about it. Nobody had ever asked me to stand up in their wedding before and thought it was nice of her to ask.
"I am thinking about not wearing shoes" She said to me I laughed.
"I personally hate heels" I tell her "I would wear my Chuck Taylor's down the aisle" I say to her. This time she laughed.
"I could see that" She said, I looked up and saw that Dean was looking at me through the reviewer mirror with a smirk on his face. I didn't know why but I felt the butterflies I always felt when he smiled at me. I looked away and went back to Brie.
"Thank you for what you did for me today" I say to Brie.
"I would do it again. She was being a total bitch. You don't deserve that you were just being honest with them sweetheart. You are one of my closet friends I would do that for you again in a heartbeat" Brie said to me. I smiled and leaned over to hug her. "Nobody should be treated like that, I believe ever one is equal obviously they don't think the same thing. Plus she smelt like an ashtray" Brie said pinching her nose with a small laugh.
"She did, my family has always been that way with people different than them" I say to her.
"Okay Kaylee I am going to tell you this once. They are not your family. They might be blood but that doesn't make a family. A family is made up of people who care about one another. You are a part of my family Kay and don't you forget that" She said. I smiled at her and she hugged me again. "So what are the plans for tonight" She asked. "You know any good clubs" She asked me.
"No I don't really go out when I am home I stay in and relax and let my body heal most of the time. I spend it catching up on the shows I missed while I am on the road" I tell her.
"You are no fun, we are going out and you getting drunk" She said.
"I don't drink very much. You know alcoholic father and family" I say to her.
"Your family doesn't define you" She said.
"I am with her" Dean said. "I don't let my past define me, I just live every day to the fullest" he said.
"Yeah by chasing Kaylee" Brie added in, I smacked her arm. "Ouch" She said rubbing her arms.
"Not exactly" Dean said I rolled my eyes and looked out the window.
I smiled and looked back at the people in the car. Brie was on her phone trying to find a place that we could go tonight. Dean and Bryan were talking about something in the front seat. I smiled and for the first time I realized that these people in the car are my family. They came with me to my father's funeral they didn't want to see me go through it alone. These people cared about me and I cared about them. Brie shouted when she said she found the perfect place.
I really didn't go out a lot but since the break up with Ian. I didn't go out because the only places I knew where places that Ian would play at before he got a contract. I just didn't want to run into anyone he knew. None of his friends understood why I broke up with him. I didn't care they were his friends not mine. Brie gave Dean the directions to the club she found. I really didn't want to go but, it could be good for me other than staying and watching DVD's.
The car came to a stop ten minutes later and Brie pretty much pulled me out of the car. I grabbed my purse and we waited till we all were standing together. When Dean and Bryan were out of the car and beside us girls we all walked into the building. It was packed wall to wall. There was barely any room for us to walk. Techno music was playing loud I could feel the vibrations through my body as we walked through the sweaty bodies to the bar. We found four empty seats and we grabbed them before anyone else could. Brie ordered us drinks while Bryan just had a club soda and Dean had a beer. I wasn't in the mood for this but I would do it for Brie. She was leaving tomorrow and I would have the last few days with just Dean.
After a few drinks I was dancing with Brie out on the floor with the other people here. Our bodies were moving with the beats and the guys were sitting at the bar. "I will be right back" Brie said a few minutes later I watched her go back to the bar before I kept on moving to the music.
"You dance well" I heard behind me. I didn't recognize the voice. I felt that hands go to my waist I pulled away but he grabbed me and pulled me closer to him. His arms went around my body and held me tight against his body.
"Let me go" I tell him. I felt him start to kiss my neck I tried to pull away but the man kept a firm grip on me.
"I don't think so" he said I tried elbow him but he had my arms pinned against me. "You smell so good baby" He said to me. I groaned and tried once again to pull away.
"Come on leave me alone" I say to him I wiggle to try and get out of his grasp. I lift my foot and step on his. I feel his grip weaken and I pull away to look at him. He had shaggy black hair and green eyes. I couldn't see much because of the lighting. The guy came at me again but somebody stepped in front of me. I saw that it was Dean.
"The lady said to leave her alone" Dean said, it was like he was back in the ring. "So I am going to tell you once to leave the lady alone" He said the guy laughed at Dean and tried to get past him to get to me. Dean grabbed him and shoved him back.
"Dean he isn't worth it." I say pulling his arm. Dean looked down at me and then back at the guy. He nodded his head and turned. He grabbed my hand and started to walk away.
"You will go with him after you practically begged me to come over here" they guy said he grabbed Dean's arm and Dean yanked his arm away.
"Do not touch me" Dean said. I watched as the gut smiled.
"That's okay she probably sleeps with every guy she comes across anyways" The guy said I don't know how it happened but the guy was now on the floor and I was pulling on Dean's arm to get out before security came and kicked us out. We got outside and Dean pulled something out of his pocket. It was a pack of cigarettes he pulled one out and lit it.
"You didn't have to do that" I say to him.
"That guy was going to take advantage of you I was only protecting you from him. He had no right to call you what he did. He may not have said the word but he was thinking it." Dean said as took a puff of his cigarette.
"Thank You for defending my honor" I Say to him he nods and I lean against the wall. As I was I watched as two bouncers were escorting the man who was hitting on me out. They threw him to the sidewalk I stifled a laugh while I watched him walk away. The Bouncers walked over to me.
"You okay ma'am" One of them asked.
"Yeah I am fine" I say to them, the both nodded and went back inside. Brie came rushing out of the club and tackled me in a hug.
"I shouldn't have left you alone" She said to me.
"I am okay really Dean punched the guy" I say to her. She leaned over to my ear.
"I told you he likes you" She whispered I smiled and looked over at him. He wasn't looking at me he was looking straight ahead but I saw him smirk. He heard her. She pulled away and took my hand.
"We are going back to your place. I shouldn't have forced you to come out when I knew you didn't want to" Brie said.
"It's okay I am fine Brie" I say to her. "A little shaken up but nothing I won't get over" I say to her.
"She most likely broke the guy's foot when she stepped on it. Didn't you see the way he was limping?" Bryan said. I laughed.
"I can handle myself this guy was just really touchy." I say he laughs and we all start for my car. Bryan and Brie went into the back of the car while I sat in the front seat Dean was driving again.
"How about some music" Brie said.
"Alright my choice" I say to them I pull out my CD case and look through it. I found one and put it in the player. I pressed the button till I got to the track I wanted.
"Really Michael Jackson" Brie said.
"I am a huge Taylor swift and MJ fan. Michael got me through a lot of times when I was growing up" I say to her. She laughs but dances along to the music.
"I don't think I have heard this song" She said.
"You rock my world it's off his invincible album one of my favorites." I say to her. I then start to dance in the car. Music always calmed me down. It probably why when most people try to reach me I have my ear buds in my ears all the time. So then I can't hear them.
"This is really good" Brie said. I smiled and when the song was over I changed the track to a different song.
"I didn't know you were a Michael fan" Dean said to me, I just smiled and looked out the window before I responded.
"Yeah, I am I just love music except rap" I say to him.
"Yeah same here" Dean said. I started to move to the music again. I had forgotten the incident with my aunt and the guy at the club. It was just me and my friends in my car driving back to my place. Dean had slowed the car down.
"I like this anything else" Brie asked me she smiled at me and I laughed. Yeah but before I could Dean had pressed the next button and different song came on it was Give into me. It was like he was telling me something. I didn't know what I was doing with Dean but I had a feeling this song would become his new favorite. I looked over at him and saw him smiling he was mouthing the words. I looked away and watched as he pulled into the parking garage of my apartment building.
I was sitting in the middle of Dean and Brie on the couch while Bryan sat on the other side. Brie had her legs on Bryan's lap. We had a movie playing it was just my kind of night. Staying in with friends and watching a good movie on TV. Brie and I had made some popcorn and were snacking on it. I would throw a few to my cats on the floor. They both liked popcorn they were weird cats.
I didn't really pay much attention to the movie I was still going through everything that had happened today. It was a mess of events. After everything I said at my father's funeral, what my aunt said and the guy at the club.
What a stressful day. I didn't let any of it bother me though I stayed strong and didn't it get to me. I looked around me and saw that I had the friends I always wanted. Maybe one day I would let Dean be more than just a friend I am just fragile with my heart. It has been broken to many times to just let somebody hold it again. Brie was like the sister I never had and always wanted. I had my adopted sister but we didn't get alone.
Bryan was just a very good guy. He was kind and I liked him, Brie chose the right guy. I just hoped one day I found the right guy.
My head lay on Dean's shoulder while he lightly snored having falling asleep half way through the movie. He looked so peaceful while he slept. You wouldn't think he was who he was in the ring. The thing is he nothing like his in ring character. He was sweet and protective. Just don't tell him that. I looked over at Brie and Bryan found Brie was lightly sleeping she was leaned against me. I smiled and knew that my life was good right now.
I knew that I would get my other best friend back. AJ was just still a bit mad about me taking the Belt from her. I didn't know how long I would have it though. Only time could tell that. I was at a great point in my life and I was hoping that it wouldn't change for a long time.
