Things Never Seem Right pt. 1
Yami ran as fast as his legs could go. Spotting the tree, where they'd kissed, he sprinted to the area. He bent forward slightly to catch his breath. Once he was breathing evenly, he scanned the park. Lots of people, mostly children, were playing around being watched closely by family. He checked his watch, 5:30 pm, he had a half hour to spare and decided to walk around a bit. Soon, the children were starting to leave the park and couples began taking their place, walking hand in hand. Yami glanced at them, imagining himself and Naomi being together like that. He sighed…at least maybe…if she accepted his feelings.
"I hope she shows up."
It wasn't long until his nerves started acting up. He kept glancing at his watch every five minutes. He looked again, it was now 5:49 pm, this was killing him.
"Hey! Yami!"
Looking in the direction of the voice, which he knew all too well, he spotted Tea running towards him waving frantically.
"Hello Tea," he greeted as she approached.
"Hello yourself," she breathed. "Whatcha doin'? Waiting for someone?"
"Yeah." he answered looking around briefly.
"Naomi right?"
Shocked at her words, he dumbly nodded. Did everyone know about their incident? He knew Yugi wouldn't gossip, but…
Tea smiled warmly. "I just had a feeling. You guys are always together now. Why so down?"
Yami sighed resting head against the tree looking skyward. "It's nothing."
"LIAR!" she half-screamed, pointing a finger.
He looked at her with wide, surprised eyes.
"Yami, I've known you long enough know when your troubled about something. So…talk, what's wrong?"
Yami hesitated. Talking to Yugi was one thing, but to Tea. He didn't mind her, don't get him wrong, but…having to tell someone else about is budding feelings for…Should he really tell her? She was a friend after all.
"Might as well, she'll find out sooner or later."
"Last night," he began. "I…kissed Naomi, she kissed back, then ran away. I called her house countless times, but she wouldn't answer. So on my last message, I asked her to meet me here at 6 o' clock, so we could talk about what happened and …to also tell her my feelings for her…So, here I am waiting."
He stared at Tea, who was blinking as she processed all that the tri-color haired teen had told her.
"YOU GUYS KISSED!" she screeched.
He flinched and nodded. "Of course she'd start with that."
"And…she ran away?"
Again he nodded.
"Yami do you like her? I mean like like her?"
Again the ex-pharaoh nodded.
"Thank Ra!"
"What?" Now he was confused.
"It's about time two you hit it off, we were going crazy!"
"We?" What the hell was going on?
"'We' as in the gang and myself, were tired of you two always bickering. So, we pl…err…wanted you guys to become friends. Never thought you two would hook up! Wow, I guess that one's a bonus."
As he listened to the girl manifest this new information his so called hikari neglected to mention. He felt slightly aggravated, he had a feeling his friends were behind he and Naomi getting along and this just confirmed it. He'd have to have a little talk with Yugi and his friends later about meddling in one's personal business. However, he realized that if they hadn't he wouldn't be here. Chuckling silently, he shook his head.
"I guess I'll let it slide."
"So you really like her huh?" Tea teased as she nudged him.
He looked skyward. "I do, " he replied honestly. "I just hope…she comes."
Tea looked towards him. Upon seeing his distraught face she gently grabbed his chin.
"Hey," making him look at her directly she smiled. "I know she'll come. She's probably on her way right now. So cheer up, everything will work out."
The ex-pharaoh smile grabbing her hand hold his chin. "Thank you Tea."
"Hey, what're friends for?" she stated letting go.
He nodded chuckling lightly.
Suddenly, he felt a part of warm arms snake around his neck.
"You looked like you needed this."
Shaking off the shock, he hugged her back.
"It'll be fine, you'll see," she said pulling back slightly. "Don't worry so much."
Yami smiled humming in agreement.
Unbeknownst to them, a person was watching them secretly from afar.
