Chapter 10: The Auras within.

It is awesome to see the readers are enjoying this story, now for the third gym battle for Ash and Serena. This chapter will also be pretty long as well to accommodate for the gym battle, maybe 7000 words.

Ash had eventually woken up from his slumber, it had been three days since the attack on the Tower of Mastery, his partner pokemon was nowhere in sight, he looked around to see if he could find the small electric mouse pokemon, "odd, Serena isn't here as well," Ash whispered to himself until he heard a sudden explosion outside the hospital battle area. Ash jumped up quickly and rushed to the window, there he spotted his Pikachu in a battle against a small green pokemon, "that's Bagon, then that must mean Serena is training her pokemon," Ash whispered, he turned towards the exit of the room and walked out of the ward.

"Alright, Pikachu, don't hold back," Serena instructed the small electric mouse pokemon, "Bago, use Dragon Breath," Serena ordered her small dragon type pokemon, the green dragon without hesitation attack the small electric mouse with a green flame, Pikachu dodged the attack and rushed towards the dragon firing bolts of electricity at the dragon pokemon, "dodge them now Bagon, then use Headbutt," Serena gave out her next lot of instruction.

Ash was standing at the entrance silently watching Serena train her pokemon, he watched as the dragon did backflips to dodge the sparks of electricity then rush towards his starter pokemon, "Pikachu, use Iron Tail," Ash ordered his pokemon, Pikachu smashed his tail in the dragon type pokemon while Serena watched in shock.

Serena turned her attention to Ash and gulped, "Ash, you're awake," Serena whispered, still unable to run she limped towards Ash and in a sudden move she embraced him with all her might, "I have been training for three days," Serena told Ash proudly, she pulled back and looked towards her dragon pokemon, "I even have Bagon listening to me fully now," Serena pointed out with great satisfaction, her dragon walked up to her and smiled at her.

Ash walked towards the battlefield and held out his pokeball, "well since you have trained a bit, how about a quick battle?" Ash questioned the female trainer with a smirk, "the winner faces the gym leader first," Ash suggested the terms to the blonde haired trainer.

Serena nodded and held out her pokeball, "alright Ash, you're on," Serena replied confidently.

"Alright, let's see what you have learned in the last few days," Ash stated while getting ready to call out his pokemon for the battle.

"Floette, time to battle," Serena called out her fairy type pokemon to battle.

"Gabite, I choose you," Ash called for his dragon type pokemon, it was then Serena started to smirking at Ash, it was the first time she noticed that Ash hadn't battled against fairy type pokemon, "what are you smiling about Serena?" Ash asked in a perplexed manner.

"Oh nothing, I bet you didn't know that Floette are fairy type pokemon," Serena pointed out with a playful smile.

"So, Gabite Dragon Claw," Ash called for the attack, his dragon rushed towards the fairy type pokemon, but Serena remained calm and issued no command, the dragon slashed down on the fairy type but the attack did nothing, "what happened?" Ash asked, shocked at what had happened.

"Dragon type moves don't effect fairy type pokemon, you might end up watching me battle first," Serena laughed at Ash who was in shock at what he had heard, "Fairy Wind now Floette," Serena called for the next attack of the battle.

"Use Dig," Ash instructed his pokemon, 'now what do I do? I can't attack as much as I would like,' Ash asked himself while his pokemon dug his way underground to avoid the blast of wind coming from the fairy type pokemon.

"Excellent now I have you on the defensive," Serena commented with confidence, she looked over to her pokemon and nodded, "get to the hole then use Moon Blast," Serena instructed her pokemon, the small pokemon flew towards the hole and unleashed a pink sphere inside.

"Get out of there now Gabite," Ash panicked slightly, his pokemon emerged a few feet from the place he dug into, his pokemon started to wonder what to do next, 'man, I cannot attack that easily,' Ash thought to himself while looking up towards the confident young rival.

"Use Magical Leaf," Serena called for the next attack.

Ash gritted his teeth knowing that he might have to watch his rival battle against the gym leader first, a vibrant barrage of leaves flew towards the dragon type pokemon, "use Dragon Claw to slice through the leaves," Ash instructed his dragon quickly. Bagon was watching in awe as the blarger blue dragon started to slice through each leaf with great accuracy, the dragon waited for what was going to happen, interested in seeing how Gabite was going to battle against her teammate.

"What to do ha Ash, you can't land an attack against me, because of a certain advantage I have, fairy type moves are super effective against dragons and dragon type moves cannot hit fairy types," Serena commented while Ash tried to figure out a way to defeat Floette.

"I can't believe it Dragons are weak against something else," Ash whispered to himself while he looked over to his dragon.

"How about I help you out, Fairy types are weak against Steel and Poison types," Serena informed Ash with a wink.

"Not great, my Gabite doesn't know a poison or a steel type move," Ash thought to himself while he pulled out his pokeball, he recalled his dragon, "you won this battle Serena, never thought I would learn something from you, thanks," Ash submitted to Serena for the first time, he started to laugh at himself, "you did well, Serena, you certainly seem a much more confident trainer," Ash complimented his rival while remaining calm.

"I won against Ash, I cannot believe it," Serena whispered while her fairy type hovered up to her.

Ash looked back with a smile and nodded at his Pikachu, the small electric mouse leapt onto his shoulder, it was then he noticed something that he hadn't expected, "what was that? It is a special energy that I sensed at the Parfum Palace," Ash questioned as he spotted a feint glowing from his rival's right hand, it was then Ash took a glance at his left hand and wondered what was going on, 'is she? There is no way she could be, I thought I was the only one,' Ash wondered to himself, he turned back to the entrance to the hospital and walked back in while Serena continued some more of her training, 'so fairy types, never thought I would see the day another type would be able to defeat dragons,' Ash reminded himself.

Serena looked towards Ash who was walking down the hallway, still recovering from his injury from the battle, she then recalled her pokemon and walked slowly back towards the Pokemon Center, wondering what the other surprise was going to be, "I better put a pokemon away, Floette is one of my better pokemon, Braixen, Bagon, Torchic and Amaura are my better pokemon so I can send my Skiddo to Professor Sycamore," Serena told herself while trying to conceal the pain from her injury from the battle against the enemy teams.

Ash walked back to his room and wondered what to do next, after discovering that his dragon type was weak against the fairy type, he had to decide what to do next, "so I better teach my Gabite a poison type pokemon, maybe Poison Jab, but that means I will have to wait until he becomes Garchomp," Ash thought to himself while remembering the battle knowing that he was on the defensive for the entire battle, he looked up to his starter pokemon knowing that his partner was the only pokemon he had that knew a steel type move.

Ash picked up his bag and walked to the main counter of the hospital to sign out, "glad to see that you have recovered," the woman said with a smile, Ash signed the paperwork and nodded at the nurse.

"Thanks, I never thought a Poison Tale would hurt so much," Ash joked to the person behind the counter, he turned walked back towards the exit of the hospital and towards the Pokemon Center, "I never thought I would learn something from Serena," Ash whispered while thinking back to the battle against his rival.

"Mom, there is something I want to ask you?" Serena asked while sitting on the seat and talking to her mother.

"What is it Serena?" Grace asked her daughter calmly.

Serena breathed in taking the chance to calm down, "there have been a few people asking me whether I like this guy, but I am not certain he does in return, what should I do?" Serena asked her mother who burst out into laughter at her daughter, "hey mom, that's not funny, I am serious," Serena berated her mother as her disdain grew towards her, 'now I can see why I don't have the time of day to even talk to her anymore,' Serena thought to herself while trying to remain patient with her mother.

"Well you should just be honest and tell him, I am certain he would acknowledge it," the brunette replied to her daughter with a smile, "you love him right?" Grace asked her daughter causing her face to start turning a shade of red.

"Well, I….um kind of, I think I do, I get nervous and have Butterfrees in my stomach at the moment come to think of it," Serena replied to her mother, the lady started to get a little more serious at her daughter, "but when I am around him, I feel happy and warm inside," Serena told her mother while she started to smile at the young lady proudly.

"So you are, well then you need to tell him," Grace told her daughter with a playful smile.

"But mom, what if he says no to me?" Serena questioned her mother.

Grace shook her head in disappointment, she never knew her daughter would be so nervous around the guy she had a crush on, "come on Serena, you are usually very sassy around me, something must have happened for you to be out of character like this," Grace stated while her daughter continued her nervous attitude, "why not go and have your gym battle, maybe the one you love will be watching you battle," Grace stated while ending the call with her daughter.

"Thanks mom," Serena said as she placed the phone back on the hook, she turned around to find Ash walking into the Pokemon Center, she looked at her five pokeballs and wondered what kind of pokemon she was going to battle against, "this is the first time Ash will be watching me battle," Serena whispered, 'I think I will use Braixen, Torchic and Floette,' Serena thought of her team of pokemon she was going to use in her next battle, she knew that the gym leader was Korrina, but wasn't certain of what pokemon types she was going to use.

"Hey Serena, are you ready to battle Korrina?" Ash asked with a broad smile on his face, he walked over to his rival and noticed her pokeballs in her hands, "so you choosing your team, just remember to have a good time in the battle, I will be watching your battle," Ash told the girl with a prideful smile.

Serena turned around and thought about her battle with Korrina, "so Ash I was thinking of something, we have been in Shalour for a week now, I was wondering, I want to know what you think of me?" Serena enquired causing Ash to step back in shock.

Ash tried to say something but the words were impossible to utter, he looked away too nervous to even look into her blue eyes, "you're a great trainer," Ash replied knowing that he might of messed it up.

"No Ash not that, I was thinking of something else, me as a person, the people we met earlier in the week used to bully me because I was either too gentle or not up to their standards," Serena pointed out while her face started to redden.

"I think you're a pretty lady, you personality is great, I really like you personality, confident, intelligent and brave," Ash replied with a smile. "Certainly not reckless like me," Ash laughed at his own personal fault.

"Come on, you need to watch my gym battle," Serena said with a grin, she turned around and rushed out of the medical facility, leaving Ash behind with his partner pokemon on his left shoulder.

Ash started walking towards the exit wondering how Serena's training went and how it would help her in battle against the gym leader. "You know buddy, I am not certain, how to tell her, I really want to tell her, but I am not certain that she feels the same way," Ash whispered to his pokemon who shrugged his shoulders. Ash walked out of the Pokemon Center thinking about his battle with Korrina as well, his team set ready to face the gym leader in battle, "so this could be three on three, so I think I will go with Frogadier, Pyroar and Gabite," Ash announced his team for the battle against Korrina.

Ash spotted his rival entering the gym building following Korrina inside, he rushed towards the building to see the two trainers preparing for the battle and walked up to the seat to watch the battle, "our battle will be three on three, as for you Ash it will be two on two," Korrina told the two trainers as pulled out her first pokeball, "I will be taking you both on one after the other," the blonde haired gym leader decreed calmly.

"What?" the two trainers asked in unison while staring at the gym leader in shock.

"You both heard what I said, after I battle Serena, I will be facing Ash in battle," Korrina replied to the two shocked trainers, she held out her pokeball, "Meditite, time to battle," Korrina called for her first pokemon to battle Ash's female rival.

"A Meditite, okay, go Torchic," Serena called for her first pokemon to battle the gym leader. The small fire type stood ready to face the fighting type pokemon at the opposing end of the battlefield.

"Meditite, start this battle with Force Palm," Korrina instructed her pokemon quickly.

"Dodge it now Torchic, then retaliate with Peck," Serena instructed her pokemon hurriedly. The young woman watched her pokemon jumping back avoiding the fighting type move, "that's it Torchic, keep dodging," Serena instructed her pokemon with certainty, the chick pokemon kept evading the attacks until it was ready to strike back, "now hit with Peck," Serena ordered calmly.

The smaller pokemon got underneath the attacks and started pecking that the fighting type pokemon. The tiny pokemon leapt back towards the trainer ready for the next command in the battle, meanwhile Korrina gulped as her pokemon got back to its feet slowly, "Meditite, strike back with Confusion," Korrina countered the opposing trainer's attack.

"Torchic, use Flamethrower now," Serena gave out her command. The small pokemon leapt into the air before being surrounded by a blue aura, it unleashed a swathe of flames but was stopped as the small pokemon lost control, 'no, Torchic is stuck in the confusion,' Serena thought to herself as she tried to think of a way to get her pokemon to break free from the powerful psychic attack.

"Come on Serena, don't even think of giving up," Ash called to his rival with all his might, he placed his hands on the railings staring at the girl who was struggling to come to grips with the challenge she was facing, "what so you trained with my pokemon and you are giving up that easily?" Ash questioned the young trainer with a smile.

Serena nodded and looked back towards her Torchic, "Torchic, attack with Flamethrower!" Serena yelled out her command, suddenly the small pokemon started to glow, it grew taller and gained two powerful arms, the glowing stopped with a burst of flames careening into the meditation pokemon sending it flying towards the wall behind Korrina.

"Amazing, her Torchic evolved into Combusken," Korrina whispered while looking back to see her pokemon laid out on the ground after the fiery attack, "Meditite, return," Korrina recalled her fallen pokemon from the battle, "Machoke, let's win this battlem" Korrina called out her next pokemon, the grey humanoid pokemon stood ready to face the opposing fighting type pokemon, "wait for the next move," Korrina ordered her pokemon quietly.

Ash noticed the calmness of the gym leader and knew straight away that she was going to wait for Serena to make the first move, 'Serena needs to be careful,' Ash thought to himself while keeping his gaze firmly planted on the blonde haired trainer.

"Alright now attack with Double Kick," Serena called for the first attack of the new round, her pokemon ran towards the powerful fighting type pokemon.

Korrina smiled knowing that her challenger made a mistake, "Vital Throw," Korrina called for the counter attack, the muscular pokemon waited for the fire type to get closer, luckily it didn't have to wait for too long. Machoke swung its arm out and grabbed the incoming pokemon before side slamming Serena's pokemon into the ground, the yellow and orange pokemon jumped up and glared at the more powerful pokemon.

Serena looked towards her tiring pokemon and started to think of an attack against the more powerful pokemon, "Combusken use Flamethrower now," Serena called for the long distance attack.

The young fowl pokemon sent a blast of flames towards the fighting type pokemon, but Korrina remained calm yet again, "use Protect now," Korrina instructed her pokemon. Korrina's pokemon formed a powerful green barrier to prevent Flamethrower from hurting him.

Serena started to grow slightly impatient and looked towards her pokemon, "Now strike back with Double Kick," Serena called for the next attack of the battle.

The fire type charged towards the gym leader's teammate, "wait for a chance," Korrina whispered with the now speedy fire type getting closer to attack the mighty pokemon, "now use Dynamic Punch," Serena called for her pokemon to counted attack. The large pokemon's fist started to glow white before sending the punch towards inbound pokemon, the punch landed sending the fighting type flying towards Serena.

Serena rushed towards her pokemon who had land in front of her after taking the powerful hit, "Combusken, are you alright?" Serena asked her pokemon with a concerned, "you did well, I think you need to take a break from battling," Serena told her pokemon while recalling it from the battle, she walked back to her side of the battlefield while clasping onto her Combusken's pokeball, "Floette, time to show them our power," Serena called for her second pokemon in the battle, her small white and green pokemon appeared with her signature flower.

"I was expecting her to have a psychic pokemon, but wow, she has a fairy type pokemon," Korrina whispered, the little pokemon hovered in front of Serena awaiting the first command, 'hitting Floette will be hard,' Korrina thought to herself while the challenger became a little calmer after the first two rounds, 'this will now be as easy,' Korrina told herself while, "use Cross Chop," Korrina ordered her pokemon.

Serena remained quiet, but this time she smiled at the mistake of the gym leader, "Grass knot," Serena commanded her pokemon, the command shocked the gym leader as her pokemon was tripped up by a small vine appeared from the ground.

"Machoke no," Korrina called to her pokemon, he got up slowly as and glared at the smaller pokemon, "what do I do? I cannot get near her Floette," Korrina questioned herself while her pokemon was kneeling the ground waiting for the command from the gym leader, "alright attack with Earthquake," Korrina ordered her pokemon while trying to maintain her cool.

"Use Moon Blast," Serena replied to the attack from the opposing trainer, as the fighting type pokemon, a small ball of pink energy formed at the end of the flower, aimed at the fighting type pokemon who punched the ground causing the earth to shudder violently, "fire Moon Blast from the air," Serena instructed her small fairy pokemon, the single bloom pokemon flew into the air with the ball of energy still aimed at the fighting type pokemon, "fire the attack now," Serena told her pokemon, the ball of energy cannoned into the fighting type causing it to fall back after the attack and began to breathe heavily after the attack.

"Okay this will be trouble, Machoke, use Dynamic Punch," Korrina called for another attack.

"End this with Grass Knot," Serena called for another grass type move, the eyes of the fairy type started to glow, another vine appeared from underground tripping the opposing pokemon up.

Ash smiled at his rival, 'not an interesting battle, but I guess she is still learning,' Ash thought while Korrina's pokemon slowly got back up but collapsed again from the damage he received from Serena's pokemon.

"Machoke return," Korrina recalled her second pokemon, she pulled out her next pokeball, 'I cannot use Lucario in this battle, those two will be facing Ash,' the gym leader thought to herself while throwing out her third and final pokeball, "say hello to my Hawlucha," Korrina called for her mostly white pokemon with a green mask, brown and green feather.

"Okay, I was kind of hoping that I would avoid my combo, but that surprise will wait if we reach the next round," Serena whispered to herself.

"Don't expect your slow pokemon to match the speed of my Hawlucha," Korrina decreed while the flying type pokemon flew into the air, "start things off with Aerial Ace," Korrina called for the attack.

"Great I cannot avoid that attack, Floette reply with Moon Blast," Serena called for the next attack of the round.

"Evade now,"Korrina told her pokemon who was getting closer, the pink orb brushed pass the wrestling pokemon and into the ceiling of the gym.

"Floette, use Psychic," Serena called for the counter attack the small pokemon's eyes started to glow blue, this caused a blue aura to surrounding the approaching fighting type pokemon, "now send it to the ground," Serena ordered her pokemon, the Fairy type pokemon concentrated even more and sent Hawlucha crashing into the ground causing significant damage.

"Not good, she dealt immense damage to my Hawlucha," Korrina stated as she started to panic slightly, "Hawlucha, quickly, attack with Sky Attack," Korrina ordered her pokemon in a hurry, the wrestling pokemon charged up while glaring at the opposing fairy type pokemon.

"Come on Serena, you can win this here and now," Ash cheered for Serena who was starting to show more confidence in the battle.

"Right, time to end this battle Floette, attack with Psychic again," Serena called out for the next attack, but as the fairy type started to attack the opposing pokemon rushed towards the single bloom pokemon with a fiery aura, the gym leader's pokemon slammed into the fairy type, causing her to fall the ground, Serena in shock looked on amazed at what had happened, but soon regained her focus on the battle.

"Oh well, it seems like you are on you're last pokemon," Korrina proclaimed not hearing the command of the challengers pokemon a pink ball of energy emerged from the dust barely missing the gym leader's pokemon.

"Not yet Korrina, I will never give up until the end," Serena replied with certainty.

Ash couldn't believe what he had heard from Serena, "wait I said that once, at a camp, I remember, Serena and I became friends at the Oak Summer camp," Ash whispered while thinking back to the old days, he remembered back then when Serena had hurt herself in the forest, but as he was about to think back to that day he witnessed two explosive attacks crashing into one another, but the gym leader's pokemon overwhelmed Serena's pokemon and knocked it out of the battle, "I will show Serena how it has to be done," Ash calmly told himself knowing that Serena was still a beginner trainer.

"Floette return," Serena recalled her pokemon from the battle, "Braixen, I choose you," Serena called out her last pokemon from the battle, 'time to show them my new combination,' Serena thought to herself while her second fire type pokemon stood staring at the opposing pokemon.

"This will be much easier, use Flying Press," Korrina instructed her third pokemon, the small pokemon flew into the air.

Serena kept her cool and waited for the pokemon to start diving towards her pokemon, "Use Protect Braixen," Serena instructed her pokemon calmly. The fox pokemon formed a barrier to prevent the attack from hitting, Hawlucha crashed into the barrier but continued to try and break through, "Use Flamethrower in the barrier," Serena called to her pokemon, while the barrier was still up Braxien started to breathe fire into the barrier making it hotter, the combination caused discomfort to Hawlucha, as the flames started to build behind the barrier.

"Move back now Hawlucha," Korrina instructed her pokemon as the flames were getting ready to break through the barrier.

"Once those flames break through the barrier, your Hawlucha will have no chance," Serena proclaimed.

"That is a reckless move," Ash hissed while watching the flames building even more, 'man I was wrong, Serena can be a little reckless,' Ash thought to himself while he noticed the protect barrier cracking.

"Her it comes," Serena decreed as the barrier broke away send a massive wall of flames towards the flying type pokemon.

Korrina watched the flames closed in on her pokemon, "there is no way Hawlucha can take that," Korrina stated while the flames caused the temperature in the room to rise, 'it's even getting much hotter in here,' Korrina thought to herself while clearing away some of the sweat, "try and break through with Aerial Ace," Korrina called for another attack, the small pokemon flew towards the towering wall of flames.

"I don't think so, combine your Confusion with the wall of Flames," Serena called to her pokemon quickly, the eyes of the fire type started to glow blue with the red hot flames being surrounded by the psychic type move, "now watch this Korrina, condense the flames into a tornado," Serena called to her pokemon, the wall started to spin around with Hawlucha flying right into the twister of fire.

"No Hawlucha, get out of there," Korrina yelled out to her pokemon in horror.

Ash watched in awe to see his rival pull off a powerful combo, he gulped knowing that Serena was going to be even tougher than he initially thought, "oh man, what a combination," Ash whispered as his hands began to shake with fear etched on her face, he continued to watch the fire tornado burn the field.

"This battle is over," Serena commented as the flames finally disappeared, the combatants watched the wrestling pokemon fall to the ground knocked out by Serena's pokemon.

Korrina recalled her fallen pokemon and looked over to Ash, "well Ash, you battle me now, you will be battling my two Lucarios, one of them will have a surprise for you," Korrina stated while turning her attention to Serena, "I will give the gym badge after my battle with Ash," Korrina told the blonde haired trainer with a smile.

Ash walked up to Serena as she recalled her pokemon, "that wasn't too bad Serena, I guess I will have a tough battle now," Ash told his rival, he pulled out his pokeball, "so Korrina, was there something else what was it?" Ash questioned the leader.

"I am not only testing you both in skill, but my two Lucarios want you as their trainers, so after this I will be giving you each a Lucario, both holding a Lucarionite," Korrina pointed out while showing off her Mega-Glove, "Lucario, time to battle," Korrina called out her first Lucario.

Ash smirked knowing that this was the chance to get a pokemon he had never caught before, "fine, Pyroar, I choose you," Ash called for his first pokemon, the lion like pokemon with a large red and yellow mane appeared in front of the aura pokemon.

"Another fire type, but unlike my battle with your rival, I will not be holding back," Korrina explained while she shook her head in disappointment.

"Alright, time to start this battle, Pyroar Flamethrower," Ash called for the first attack of the battle.

"Defend with Bone Rush," the gym leader replied to Ash's command, a bone staff formed in the aura pokemon's paws, he spun it around to deflect the flames.

Ash smirked as the flames dissipated, "well this will be more fun than expected, Pyroar, use Noble Roar," Ash commanded quickly, his pokemon unleashed a powerful roar intimidating the fighting type pokemon, "it's not over yet, Pyroar, don't let up use Work Up," Ash quickly called for the next attack.

"Ash is confident, he intends to weaken my pokemon while increasing his power," Korrina whispered while the power of Ash's pokemon increased yet again, "use Aura Sphere," Korrina called for an attack.

"Right, nice choice of an attack, one that cannot miss, but it's not good enough," Ash decreed while his pokemon glared at the opposing pokemon, he waited for the sphere to form and nodded at his pokemon, "wait for an opening, then use Flamethrower," Ash instructed his pokemon confidently, his pokemon took the weakened Aura Sphere and sent a blast of flames towards the opposing pokemon, "yeah nice shot Pyroar," Ash cheer his pokemon while the aura pokemon fell back towards the gym leader.

"I can't do it yet, Lucario fight back with Power-up Punch," Korrina countered the challenger with an uncertain expression.

"Ash, if that attack hits, the attack strength of Lucario will increase," Serena informed Ash with a concerned tone.

Ash nodded and turned his focus to Lucario, "use Yawn," Ash instructed his royal pokemon calmly, his pokemon opened his mouth and forced out a blue orb, hitting the opposing pokemon, the orb hit the aura pokemon on the face stopping the fighting type in it's tracks, "now time to end this with Flamethrower," Ash called for the next attack while punching the air in front of him.

A large burst of flames appeared in front of Ash's pokemon, Korrina tried to call to her pokemon but to no avail, the flurry of flames crashed into the aura pokemon sending it flying towards the wall behind Korrina, "Lucario!" the gym leader cried out in shock as her pokemon fell in battle, she picked up her pokemon and recalled her knocked out pokemon from the battle, "now for the surprise, my second Lucario," Korrina called out her second aura pokemon.

Pyroar waited for the order to attack, "no Pyroar, I want to see what Korrina was talking about," Ash told his pokemon with certainty, he watched the gym leader press the stone on her glove, an orb surrounded the second aura pokemon, "is this Mega-Evolution, I can sense the power of Lucario's aura increasing," the trainer whispered while starting to tremble at the sensation that emanated from the white orb.

"I can sense the aura, why can I sense it, I thought only Ash could," Serena asked herself while the orb started to dissipate, revealing a mostly blue and black bipedal pokemon with brown paws, cream colored tail, torso and the four appendages growing out and waving around, "that must be Mega-Evolution," Serena indicated with a surprised tone.

"This is my surprise, now there is no holding back," Korrina told Ash while his royal pokemon readied itself for an attack, "Power-Up Punch," Korrina called for the first attack of the round.

"Use Noble Roar," Ash hurriedly called for the next attack, but as his pokemon was about to unleash a powerful roar, his pokemon was hit by a powerful punch, "amazing Lucario's speed rose," Ash gritted his teeth in amazement, his pokemon fell to the ground while he glared over to the more powerful version of Lucario, 'I might need Pikachu in this battle,' Ash thought to himself while his pokemon got back up panting from the powerful attack, "Flamethrower," Ash called for the next attack.

"Defend with Bone Rush," Korrina instructed her mega-evolved pokemon. The aura pokemon formed a bone staff and spun it around stopping the flames from hitting it, "how do you like that Ash?" Korrina asked the opposing trainer with a confident smirk, "now hit it with Bone Rush," Korrina instructed her pokemon with confidence, the aura pokemon rushed towards the royal pokemon quickly.

"Pyroar get out the way," Ash called to his pokemon, but before the fire type pokemon could move the opponent's pokemon slammed the bone staff into Ash's pokemon hitting it multiple times, "Pyroar!" Ash cried out in shock, he watched as the opposing pokemon quickly overwhelmed his pokemon, he started to clench his fists in frustration not knowing how to combat the speed of the aura pokemon.

"I take it you aren't certain what to do," Korrina stated while she watched the trainer's pokemon collapse from the vicious attack.

Ash recalled his knocked out pokemon with Serena watching in awe, "come on Ash, you can win this," Serena whispered to herself while watching the young man wondering what to do, she noticed the trainer deep in thought.

"I will not be giving up," Ash decreed while looking over to his partner pokemon, "Pikachu, I choose you," Ash called over to the small yellow mouse, the electric type leapt onto the battlefield ready to face the mega-evolved pokemon.

"Hm a Pikachu, this will be interesting," Korrina said with an excited expression, "start things off with Bone Rush," Korrina instructed her pokemon quickly.

"Pikachu, use Iron Tail to deflect the attacks," Ash called for a defensive attack, as the bone staff formed again Pikachu's tail stiffened as he waited for Lucario to strike with his bone staff, the electric mouse spun around and deflected the attacks with his tail, the two pokemon continued the actions with great speed, the combatants jumped back with the intent of charging into battle, "okay this will not be easy," Ash hissed while trying to figure out what to do next.

"I will not let up, Lucario, attack with Aura Sphere," Korrina confidently call for the nest attack.

Knowing the danger that was occurring he waited for the chance to deflect the attack back to the foe, "alright Pikachu hit back with Electro Ball," Ash instructed his pokemon quickly, the small pokemon leapt into the air with the blue orb following him, Ash started to sweat as the ball of aura closed in, he gritted his teeth as his partner pokemon formed a ball of electrical energy. Pikachu spun around and flung the Electro Ball at the incoming attack.

"Not bad Ash, but still not good enough," Korrina commented while the electric mouse started to land, "don't give it a chance Lucario, attack with Force Palm," Korrina called for yet another attack, the aura pokemon started darting towards the electric mouse with his right palm glowing.

"Use Volt Tackle to dodge," Ash commanded with a slight bit of panic in his voice, he watched his pokemon run to one end of the battlefield as he avoided the charging MegaLucario whose palm crashed into the ground causing a powerful explosion sending dust into the air, "now use Thunderbolt," Ash ordered his pokemon while he was still charged up with the previous electric attack, Ash waited and watched his partner pokemon unleash a powerful blast of electricity hitting the powerful pokemon on the battlefield, "alright, well done Pikachu, but this battle is far from over," Ash pointed out with a confident smile.

"Lucario, attack with Bone Rush," Korrina called for the next attack of the battle.

"Get out of the way Pikachu!" Ash yelled to his pokemon while the bone staff formed in the aura pokemon's paws, Pikachu back flipped away from the opposing pokemon while barely dodging the powerful attacks, "that's it Pikachu, keep dodging," Ash commented with vigour.

"Use Extreme Speed," Korrina called for another attack, as Pikachu finished dodging the attacks he was slammed by the sprinting pokemon, sending the electric mouse flying towards Korrina, it was then the two noticed an arch of lightning surrounding the aura pokemon.

Ash punched the air in front of him before putting his fist into his left hand in a celebratory manner, "that was Static, now to bring an end to this battle," Ash commented while his Pikachu ran back to his trainer's side of the battlefield, Ash noticed the panting of his pokemon , he lowered his fists and took a deep breath, "alright, I have paralyzed Lucario, but my Pikachu is exhausted because of it," Ash stated while thinking about what to do, it was also then that he noticed Korrina calling for another attack, "Pikachu use Volt Tackle to get closer," Ash commanded while still trying to figure out what to do, "there is no opening for me to attack," Ash hissed while his pokemon leapt into the air to avoid Bone Rush.

"Lucario," Korrina called out as her pokemon froze on the spot with lightning surrounding him.

Ash smirked while his pokemon started to fall to the ground, "use Iron Tail with your Volt Tack and Electro Ball," Ash commanded his pokemon, Pikachu's Tail stiffened while maintaining his ominous electrical aura and a ball of electricity forming at the end of his tail, he slashed down hurting the aura pokemon then unleashed a ball of electricity on the fighting type pokemon, dealing significant damage on the opposing pokemon, Pikachu leapt back towards Ash after the combination attack, tired after the attack.

"Did I lose?" Korrina asked herself with the smoke making impossible to seem. As the smoke cleared a normal Lucario appeared on the ground knocked out of the battle, Korrina stood amazed at what had happened, "he combined three powerful attacks to defeat my Lucario," Korrina whispered to herself in awe, she recalled her pokemon and looked over to Ash who was breathing a sigh of relief.

Serena rushed from the side lines to congratulate Ash who was also victorious in the battle for their badges, "nicely done Ash," Serena praised her rival.

Korrina approached the two trainers with her two badges and two pokeballs, "well done you two, you have earned this badge and my Lucario," Korrina stated while the two grabbed their Lucario, each happy to have earned their respective badges and a Lucario each, "I showed you the power of Mega-Evolution and you also have a mega stone for another pokemon each," Korrina stated while turning around ready to skate away from the two trainer, "well I hope you two continue your journey," Korrina told the rivals with a proud expression.

(A few Hours later)

"Well Ash, I guess we will be taking our respective roads again, see you in Lumiose City," Serena proclaimed as she walked up to Ash, "I want to save my Mega-Evolution for our battle at the Kalos League," Serena decreed, Ash nodded in agreement with a glance at the blonde haired trainer's mega-ring.

"I will save my best for you," Ash replied while starting to turn away from his rival, but before he could leave Serena kissed him on the cheek, Ash froze on the spot and placed his hand on the spot he was kissed, "what was that for?" the raven haired trainer asked his rival.

"Thanks for protecting me," Serena chimed as she turned away from Ash, her face with a broad smile, she started to walk towards her next destination, still unable to believe what she had done, she looked over her left shoulder with a tender smile, her heart racing she looked watched Ash walking away, 'oh we forgot about our race, I guess, it didn't matter since we most likely tied anyway,' Serena thought to herself, she continued to walk towards the entrance of the city awaiting her next challenge.

Meanwhile Ash was walking away still unable to remove his hand from his cheek, he was still surprised at what had happened, "did I just get kissed by Serena?" Ash asked himself, he looked back to see Serena exiting the city to continue her journey.

"Oh right, we forgot about our race, oh well I guess we both have something, I have a Lucario and a Jaw Fossil," Ash told himself while walking into a cave with Pikachu on his shoulder, Serena's kiss on his cheek replayed in his mind, 'I will never forget that,' Ash thought to himself as he started walking towards the other end of the cave.
