Reyna P.O.V

There weren't very many times when Reyna could say she liked being on watch. However, Reyna liked being at sea, there was this calm about how the waves caressed the ship, the breeze in her hair, the whiff of salt every time she inhaled and the dark spot on the horizon off the starboard side of the ship gave her something for her eyes to focus on. All of these helped to calm Reyna as she looked outward on the sea and thought of the journey they were undertaking. She had listened calmly as Annabeth retold the story of how she and Percy had entered the Sea of Monsters by passing Scylla and Charybdis. Reyna became very aware of the lack of expendable dead soldiers to get plucked off deck instead of one of the current crew members and of course no one assented to the Frank the dove idea especially Frank cooed defiantly on mention of it. Despite that however they continued south toward the trench and the Sea of Monsters.

Reyna hadn't yet sorted out her feelings about her home, though it had rescinded from a massive phobia to a hurricane level of 'get it away from me' in her heart at the very thought of it. Reyna's eyes continued to dart around the ship, a wonderful assortment of demigods and their expression were on watch with Reyna. Percy, Annabeth and Hazel were chatting each other up on the other side of the ship Percy had a large grin on his face while Annabeth was pouting – maybe he was teasing her about something – while Hazel though she was smiling was trying to keep herself together while on deck, Reyna wondered why the design crew hadn't found some way to circumvent that.

Once more Reyna, turned towards her new found love in the starboard view. Her eyes darted around searching for the dark spot and found it but it wasn't exactly a spot anymore. Reyna had assumed it was an island there were many uncharted islands in the Sea of Monsters but the spot was getting bigger and they weren't going in that direction.

"Guys, we have another ship over here and it's coming in fast", Reyna called out. If it went from being a small spot to an identifiable object in the time it took for Reyna to gather her thoughts it would be here in what, two minutes maybe less as such Reyna didn't have time for the prized line 'come look at this'. Reyna sprinted off to her room, a very plain abode it didn't need any accessorizing Reyna wasn't hoping to be on the ship for an extended period. It also made things easier to find Reyna reached for her sword and her cloak recently enchanted by Athena to be a super flexible super shield.

As Reyna headed back on the deck she heard the first signs of hostility from their visitors. A volley of cannon fire boomed from the starboard side, Reyna expected to see worse when she arrived on deck but Percy was raring to go. Some of the cannonballs found themselves blocked by massive waves of water. The others struck the hull of the ship they seemed to be normal cannon balls as they did nothing more than pepper the hull with soot.

"…this time with cannons." Reyna found herself privy to only the end of Annabeth's sentence. Reyna looked out on their aggressor and something caught in her throat.

"Wait, isn't that", Reyna managed to stammer.

"Yup.", it was Annabeth's turn to interrupt Reyna. "Maybe he wants to hijack us this time". Reyna stood and watched as Percy shielded the second volley of cannons fired from the second iteration of the Queen Anne's Revenge.

Frank, Jason, Nico and Piper emerged from below all with their weapons on hand. Reyna wished they were on the Argo II, though she had no love for Valdez's creation – as it had damaged her camp – but it had firepower and it was much sturdier, the stray cannon balls were starting to dent the ship.

"Nyssa's steering us away from them but I doubt we're going to shake them that easily." Frank spoke up. Percy dropped his second protective wave which allowed Reyna to see that the ship had gained on them again despite having time to fire. How were they moving so fast, or maybe, shouting from behind her alighted her to the fact that her question had been answered.

Five guys vaulted unto the deck – no not to give us food you gluttons–they showed no concern for the fact that they were outnumbered. They drew their swords, tempered steel, and charged. Reyna, Jason, Hazel and Frank charged to meet them. Hazel disarmed one of them a swung the flat her blade toward his temple and the sword phased clean through his head. Surprised Hazel stumbled into him and guy one wasted no time in kicking her in her stomach and Hazel flew a distance and stayed down. Mortals, Reyna cussed to herself.

Now, Reyna would like to say that her fellow praetor had a burst of strength and destroyed the remaining enemies on board and sure that's how it started. Frank ran at guy number one and morphed himself into a lion and swiped his paw across the guy's face which knocked him aside and left him with some serious gashes. He pounced at a second and turned into a bear mid-jump and mowed another into the sea. However, guy three - we'll call him - was quick he drew a gun from his back just your typical pirate flintlock but 5 times larger. He fired the blunderbuss and its pellet landed square in Frank's ursine chest. He landed a way off in human form with a smoking hole in his shirt. Jason shouted in defiance and went to work on the other two using his gladius to intercept their swords and kicking and punching to incapacitate guy four and five. Guy three levelled his gun for another shot aimed at Jason but Reyna was fast, she flung her cape and blocked the pellet then she charged and slashed at the blunderbuss which promptly replied by falling into two pieces. He drew for a knife he had holstered at his hip, Reyna swung her sword down in an attempt to knock the knife back into it's place but before it got there Reyna's blade's flat smashed him on his nose. He staggered backward and Reyna spent no time counting her lucky stars, she changed her sword into a spear and used the blunt end to knock guy three off board.

The Greek demigods were being pressed as well. Blackbeard's men were swinging on ropes to board the boat. Percy was grabbing some with two water hands he was controlling and those that actually got to land were engaged in combat by Annabeth, Nico and Piper. They were having better luck than Reyna's group did. Both Annabeth and Nico's blades had their intended effect on all people they were used on and Piper's charmspeak was working overtime in giving her an edge over her enemies some of the swingers even failed to make the jump on being hit with her voice but with all of that they would soon be overwhelmed; more of Blackbeard's men were queuing behind ropes and then there was Blackbeard himself. So, as much as Hazel, who was beginning to stir, and Frank needed to be taken below the non-incapacitated friends needed help.

Jason and Reyna dove into the fray, they went about taking down Blackbeard's men with finesse being careful not to mortally wound any of some time Reyna caught a hold of Blackbeard's eyes they seemed to be glowing red and they incited a burning anger in Reyna like he was goading her into fighting him. Maybe it wasn't wise to keep defending the whole time.

"I'm going over there", Reyna declared.

"You're doing what now?" Percy croaked. Reyna didn't wait, she felt strength course in her limbs. If they were close enough to swing then why couldn't she make the jump?

"Be nice and cover for me", she continued. Jason nodded at her and then she jumped off the ship cloak first. One metre, two metres, the ships were closer than she thought she landed and broke her fall with a roll still holding her cloak for protection. As soon as she landed her cover fire came through. Jason fired a bolt of lightning that chained of some of Blackbeard men while Percy used his hands to drag some more of the men over board and Piper shouted, "Remember, boys don't hit girls!" Reyna unveiling her cloak found herself standing face to face with Blackbeard.

"Ye know I only thought it was another ship for us to plunder but look what Ares has brought me." Blackbeard smiled. "A mighty shame really, it doesn't seem like Hylla is here for the reunion."

"I'll tell her you said hello." Reyna said disinterestedly and then she charged. He drew his scimitar and knife, both steel, and they engaged each other. In the flurry of blades Reyna's senses were going overtime matching Blackbeard's combat skills was hard before but if not for the surge of energy that she received prior she wouldn't have been able to compare to him. Reyna found that it wasn't just his eyes that glowed red his whole body was flickering red, it enraged her and her anger fuelled her sword.

More of the Argo crew made their way over. Once Percy and Annabeth came off the crest of their wave – courtesy of Percy - the Queen Anne's Revenge II weighed anchor and the ropes drew taut allowing no more people to go over. Reyna didn't dare use more than peripheral vision on watching her allies she too was coming off the crest of her high and she was being pushed back. Then Annabeth joined her in the assault on Blackbeard, Annabeth was great at fighting alongside someone. For every time Reyna's blade met Blackbeard's Annabeth was there to follow up on her strike, however despite how many strikes he should have taken he showed no signs of taking damage or slowing down. He became wearier of Annabeth's style and he started holding his ground.

Jason and Piper had joined them on the enemy ship leaving Nico and a now awake Hazel to finish the stragglers. Soon it was five demigods against Blackbeard, it wasn't as easy as it sounded the five demigods were very fatigued. He fought hard, singling out a person at a time fighting at an angle to keep us from using our swords properly without risking making a kebab out of one of ours. Reyna managed to catch his sword arm in her cloak and disarm him, after that even he wasn't able to defend himself for much longer with just a knife and soon he had 5 swords levelled at his chest. The red glow faded as soon as he was beaten. Despite his position he was still fuming.

"What are ye going to do this time?" Blackbeard barked. "Steal me ship, strand me crew? No matter what you do I'll find ye and feed yer bowels to the fishes." Nico walked across the gangplank that Nyssa had connected to the Queen Anne's Revenge with two massive amounts of ropes hung over both his shoulders crossing in an X.

"Uh, so they had hitched some rowboats unto to the ship so we've been tying them up and putting these guys on them and just so you know I'm not tying up these guys, you'll have to do that yourselves.", after depositing the rope on the deck Nico promptly returned to their ship. It was tough work but after an hour about 60 people were bound and gagged and left on an assortment of rowboats from the Queen Anne Revenge and the Mini-Argo.

"So what are we going to do with the boat?" Percy asked. "Do we leave it here or can I sink it?"

"No, that won't be necessary," Annabeth answered, "more like detrimental. I think that boat is exactly what we need right now."

A/N: Well so much for shorter chapters am I right. Anyway, as usual if you enjoyed the chapter favourite the story and leave a review. Also I speak British English so if some of the spellings seem out of sorts there's your answer.
