Yo, what's up readers. Sorry i missed an upload last week. I was enjoying the holidays with family. I switched over to night shift with my job so it'll be easier for me to actually write my chapters now. Enjoy this chapter and see you all at the bottom!

Chapter 10: Tartaros part 1

At the Fairy Tail guild…

It was a normal business day at Fairy Tail. Lots of the mages were out doing regular jobs and some hung out. Many stayed back awaiting orders after the attack on the Magic Council.

"Any word from our two teams that's been sent out Mira?" Makarov asked after taking a sip from his beer mug. After he got word of the attack on the headquarters, Makarov sent a couple of teams to defend the surviving members of the council.

Mirajane shook her head with a frown. She hasn't gotten any reports for Laxus team or Natsu's team. She hoped all was going well.

"Hey master, i just found out that Minerva from Sabertooth joined a dark guild." came the voice of Erza. She walked up to the two conversing mages with a look that seem like it was troubling her.

"Oh that isn't a good to hear at all. She had lots of potential and she fared quite well in the magic games." He said with a shocked expression. It was never good to see a strong mage go to the dark side.

"Well i can guess it's not for no good reasons. Sting had said the guild master left as well with her. I know they were father and daughter, but they had another family…" Erza said as her fist balled up in anger. She couldn't imagine leaving the guild ever.

"It's nothing we can do about it. We can always worry about them another time, unless they attack us from some reason. Right now i'm worried about my teams i sent out. I feel we need to send out back up teams." Makarov said with a grim look. He was getting worried by the minute.

'You kids better be careful out there.' Makarov thought to himself.

At the 8-mile restaurant…

"You know what's been bugging me for awhile now?" came the voice of a green haired man. He waited to see if he had the attention of his teammates, before he decided to continue. "Where did Laxus disappear to?" he asked.

"That's a good question Freed, he said he had to run an errand." Bickslow said. His dolls all agreed after him.

"Oh well, we shouldn't worry to much. He's strong enough to handle himself." Evergreen pitched in. They all should know that Laxus was always to himself. He was probably just out having a stroll. She was brought out of her thoughts when a elderly man coughed.

"I really appreciate you guys for the help." came the voice of Yajima. He folded his newspaper and placed it on the table. He then reached for his cup of coffee. "After the attack, we didn't know what to do." He said after a brief pause.

It was very saddening to know that most of his good friends were all dead now. They spent so many years together working and then it was all gone in the blink of an eye."

The thunder god tribe all sat in silence with Yajima to mourn the fallen councilmen for a moment. After they were done, they went back to casual conversation. The door opened and a hooded figure stood in the doorway.

The figure turned their head and looked over to the mages who were sitting at a table. "Hi welcome to-" came the voice of the attendant before he grabbed her and threw her towards the mages.

"Hey! That's no way to treat a-" Freed started, but then noticed the figure smirked under his cloak. Next thing they all knew the restaurant was destroyed in an explosion. The figure looked around to see if he succeeded with his attack, only to see the mages come out from under the debris.

"What the heck was that?" Bickslow said as he grabbed his head. He had taken a blow to the head from debris that flew from the explosion. "Hey are you guys ok?!" Bickslow called out.

"Yeah i'm fine, over here" Freed said. "That was a very strong attack" Evergreen added. They looked around to see that the restaurant was leveled and anyone in the vicinity wouldn't have survived.

"I finally found you." came the voice of the man under the cloak. His voice was gruff and deep. He had Yajima held in the air by his neck. "W-who are you?" Yajima asked struggling to breath.

"I have no name, just know i am one of the nine demon gates and I was sent by Tartaros. The gates of hell has opened and the world is going to come to an end soon." The man said as he started to squeeze around Yajima's throat.

"MR. YAJIMA!" Evergreen screamed out from her position. She couldn't move from her spot from a pillar falling on her ankle. Freed and Bickslow was still recovering. They wouldn't make it in time.

A giant lightning bolt struck the man on his body, causing him to drop Yajima. The mages all looked towards the source and let out a sigh of relief. "LAXUS!" Evergreen shouted in joy. They were sure to win now.

The cloaked man turned around to see who his attacker was. He looked to seen a tall blonde haired man staring at him with narrow eyes. He was about to take a step when he got struck by a much stronger lightning bolt than the last.

"You are quite annoying, guess i'm going to have to kill you wizards first." The man said as he got in a battle stance.

Laxus smiled as he looked at the man, "Show me what you got." The man charged after that statement.

With Team Natsu…

Wendy used her fan to block an explosion that was set to detonate in front of her. She lowered her fan and looked to see Jackal laughing while dodging Lucy's whip.

"Wendy, i don't know how we are going to catch him." Lucy said trying to catch her breath. They have been on the defensive end from Jackal's attacks, and they really couldn't do much but use ranged attacks to avoid being cursed.

"I honestly don't know Lucy-san. I've tried to get close, but he stops me. It also doesn't helps that my wind attacks are only making the explosion's bigger." Wendy said with a sad face. She hated the disadvantage her wind had.

"Are we done here? I have things to do and you two are just wasting my time." Jackal said with a grin. He then noticed that Michello and his granddaughter was nowhere to be seen. His eyes narrowed at that. "So you two were just stalling for him to escape huh?!" Jackal said enraged.

'Crap' Lucy and Wendy thought. They thought they would've had more time to let the former councilman escape. Happy and Carla had taken them to safety, hopefully they gotten a good distance away.

"WELL NOW I AM GOING TO HAVE TO KILL YOU!" Jackal said as he rushed the two mages. Lucy used her whip, but Jackal grabbed it and used it to pull Lucy towards him. Wendy seeing what he was doing sent a wind slash towards him.

Jackal smiled and sent an explosion that cancelled the wind slash and caused a fireball that engulfed Lucy. Wendy eyes went wide when she seen what she done.

'I'm so sorry Lucy-san!' Wendy thought while her eyes misted. She was afraid she may have caused her friend to get hurt or even worst killed. She dropped her fan and fell to her knees.

"Humans are so weak, you are a pathetic useless child." Jackal mocked. He then summoned a landmine explosion where Wendy was sitting. "If you move, you will die." Jackal said as he turned to leave. He needed to hunt down that man and extract the information he needed.

A few moments later Virgo appeared out of the ground with Lucy. Wendy sighed in relief when she seen her friend. She almost got up to hug her when she remembered the circle that was at her feet.

"That was close, thanks Virgo." Lucy said with a smile. When she seen that Jackal was gone she looked towards Wendy. "He went after Michello huh?" Lucy asked. Wendy nodded her head in reply.

"I wish i could be more helpful Lucy-san, but i got myself in a little trouble here." Wendy said looking down at the circle. "He has me in some type of trap, he told me if i move i die." She finished.

Lucy mouthed an "o" then she looked over at the downed Natsu. "We need to get him back in service, we could really use him. Virgo, you think you can get her out of that circle?" She asked her spirit.

"Of course Hime." Virgo said as she went underground and grabbed Wendy by her legs and quickly brought her under. Having being moved so quickly, the explosion registered she had moved and a few seconds later it exploded.

"Thanks Virgo-san." Wendy said with a smile. She then rushed to her fallen brother and started to heal him. "Come on Natsu-nii we need you moving and kicking." she said with a sad smile. If only she was stronger, maybe she could have been able to beat Jackal. She was brought out of her thoughts when Lucy put her hand on her shoulder.

"Hey don't beat yourself up, we all tried and he just had an advantage over us. Right now, we need to stop him from getting to Michello. If he catches them he will kill them." Lucy said to try and cheer the young dragon slayer up.

"I am going to try and stall him while Happy and Carla get Michello to escape. If you get Natsu to wake up, bring him by so we can try and defeat this guy." Lucy added. When Wendy nodded at her plan she started to run in the direction Jackal went.

A few minutes after Lucy left, Wendy heard a groan. She looked down and seen that Natsu had woken up. She smiled and hugged her brother with tears in her eyes. "What are you crying for Wendy?" He said as he returned the hug.

"I thought you were seriously hurt and was out of commission." She said wiping her tears. She knew she was silly to think Natsu could be defeated so easily, but he was out for a while and didn't give no signs that he was alive.

Natsu sat up and rubbed his head as he looked around to see the entire area was destroyed. "Where is Lucy and the others? Where is Jackal?" he asked.

Wendy went on to explain what happened while he was out. She explained how her and Lucy tried to stall Jackal to let Michello and his granddaughter escape. She explained how her magic was useless against him and that Lucy didn't fair well either.

"I see, well good job Wendy. Don't ever say you are useless. You did perfectly well against him. As for your magic, there will always be a counter for everyone. So don't ever think you are the only one. You overcome that counter by bettering yourself and using your weakness to your advantage." He said with a smile.

Wendy smiled at his words and felt better about herself now. He always knew what to say to make her feel better. They both stood up after a moment and got ready to go help Lucy. After Wendy retrieved her fan they set off after Jackal.

"Any ideas on how to beat him Natsu-nii?" Wendy asked while they ran. "I have a hunch and i think i figured out how to deal with him." He said with a toothy grin.

With Thunder God Tribe…

Laxus was currently destroying the man known as Tempester. He had finally gave out his name and his ambitions but was on the receiving end of the lightning mage. He even transformed into etherious state but that didn't help either.

Tempester knew he wasn't going to last long against this guy and everything he tried, was easily deflected by this guy. He was getting frustrated. 'Why is this guy so strong? I should've kicked beaten him easily. The other mages didn't even retaliate when i blew up the building. So why won't he fall?!' Tempester thought as he was punched by another lightning blow.

"I was told you demons were quite strong; yet you are very weak. This is just sad just watching you try and attack me. " Laxus mocked. This guy caught his teammates off guard with an explosion that hurt them. He was going to get his wraith.

"LIGHTNING DRAGONS IRON FIST" He shouted as rushed and hit the demon with another lightning covered fist. Tempester fell over and clutched his stomach. He wasn't going to last long at this rate. He may have to-

Laxus clenched his fist and had a giant lightning bolt strike Tempester over and over again. The demon tried to get up, but kept getting striked down each time. Laxus being satisfied with the damage done, he concluded the demon should be dead.

"Well that's taken care of. How are you guys holding up?" Laxus said turning to his teammates.

"We're fine over hear, we just got caught off guard." Bickslow said as he was next to Evergreen helping her stand. She couldn't really stand on her ankle after that pillar fell on it.

"Is that thing finally *cough* dead?" Yajima asked. Then he started to cough as a purple mist started to go in the air. Freed, Bickslow, and Ever all fell to the ground coughing. Yajima soon fell over too.

Laxus eyes widen when he seen that the mist was coming from Tempester's fallen form. He ran over to him and picked him up by the throat. "What are you doing; you should be dead!" He shouted as he covered Tempester in lightning shocking the life out of him.

Tempester only smiled before he died and uttered one small response. "Job is complete" before he perished. Laxus groaned in frustration and tossed his body. He looked to the fallen mages and see them struggling to breath.

'What to do? What to do?' He thought. Then a light bulb went off in his head. 'I am a dragonslayer, i can just suck up this poison and save them all!' He thought with a smirk. If Natsu and Gajeel could do it, then so could he.

Laxus started to suck in the air around him and the poison went into his mouth. He was lucky he was a dragon slayer, their lungs could take up anything!

"Laxus what are you doing?! That stuff is toxic!" Freed shouted out towards his friend. He caught on to what he was doing and seen him sacrificing himself for them. 'He could die, if he don't stop!' Freed thought.

Laxus continued to suck in the air as he felt his body grow weak from the poison. Finally he seen that he was able to get all of the poison out of the air to save them. Laxus caught eye contact with Freed and smiled. "Get everyone home safely." He said as he fell over unconscious.

"LAXUS!" Freed screamed to the heavens.

With Team Natsu…

"Where do you think you're going old man?!" Jackal shouted as he threw an explosion to stop Michello in his tracks. The former councilman had his granddaughter go into hiding so she wouldn't be apart of this.

"If you give me the information i want, then i won't have to kill that woman that was with you." Jackal said with a smirk. This was short lived as he had to dodge a whip that was swung at him.

Lucy showed up after running to catch Jackal. She took a second to catch her breath, she needed to exercise more! "This is as far as you go Jackal!" Lucy said as she pulled out a key.

Before she could do summon a spirit, she noticed she had a circle around her feet like Wendy did earlier. "I wouldn't move lass, if you do then you'll be blown off this earth." Jackal said with a sadistic grin. Lucy had fallen into his trap and was now stuck on a landmine.

'Oh fuck me, how did i let this happen' She thought. She tried to think of a way to get Virgo out here again, to help with escape. She was brought out of her thoughts when she seen a lady walking pass that look as if she was pregnant. Her eyes went wide when she seen Jackal put her and Michello in a bubble.

"Lets play a game wizard. You can pick who you want to live, but the other will die by an explosion." He said with a chuckle. Lucy gulped at his statement. She knew he wasn't bluffing so she guess she had no choice.

"You have to pick me! I am one of the two surviving council members. I hold information you could use!" Michello said with a fearful voice. He couldn't die, his granddaughter was his joy and didn't want her to lose him yet. Also he had information that could help the world of magic.

"Please don't let me die! I am with child and is due within the next month." The woman shrieked out. She was scared and didn't want to be taken out of this world yet. She had a newborn who hasn't even been given the chance to see the world.

'Why me?!' Lucy thought. She didn't know what to do and she didn't want to be left in this situation. She was scared and she didn't want to pick.

"Clock's ticking woman, you have ten seconds." Jackal said with a smile. "10...9...8...7...6...5…" he started to count.

Lucy closed her eyes to think. Who did she choose? "4...3...2…1!" Jackal didn't get to detonate his attack as he was sent flying by a flaming fist into the lake nearby.

"Lucy-san we're here!" Wendy shouted out as she appeared next to her. The woman and Michello was dropped from their bubble onto their butts. The woman stood up and hurried away to go home.

The landmine around Lucy disappeared and she looked up to see Natsu there with a pissed off expression.

"Thank you so much-" Michello started to say, he didn't get to finish because he got a fist to the stomach. Natsu had knocked him out cold. He then proceeded to walk towards Jackal.

"NATSU WHY DID YOU DO THAT?" Happy and Carla shouted in unison. Lucy shook her head at him and Wendy rushed over to see if he was ok. Wendy looked to see Natsu had a glow on his hand.

"Hey you hit me… hehe you know what that means?" Jackal said with a big grin. "EXPLODE"

He finished with a laugh. Natsu looked at his hand as he concentrated on it. "I've figured it out." He said as he ate the explosion as it detonated.

"NATSU!" Lucy shouted as she watched her friend get engulfed in another explosion. Wendy watched before she smiled knowingly. When the dust settled, Natsu was just standing there laughing with smoke coming out of his mouth. "See?" he said.

Jackal had a face of shock. Wendy and everyone else had a look of happiness on their face. Things were finally starting to turn around for them.

"Who are you?" Jackal asked with a little bit of fear in his voice. Natsu smiled as he started to charge him. "I'm Natsu!" He yelled out as he punch Jackal with another flaming fist.

Jackal stumbled back as he tried to escape his attacker. This isn't normal, no human should be able to stand up to a demon. Was he even human? He looked at Natsu to see he had a evil smile on his face.

Natsu hand started to glow and right before the explosion could go off he engulfed it. "It must sucks to know that there is someone that can counter you?" He said with a grin. "There will always be someone to counter you." he finished.

Wendy eyes widened at his statement, remembering when he told her that. Now she seen his point.

Jackal growled in irritation from the dragon slayer. 'I've never trembled in fear before, but this guy has me scared. I can't fall here i refuse!' He thought as he started to transform.

"Look out Natsu, i think he's getting stronger from his transformation." Happy called out. Everyone watched Jackal grow into like a giant werewolf human type hybrid. He was at least eight feet tall, had massive claws for hands and a mouth full of razor sharp teeth.

"Humans should not be able to stand against demons" came the deep voice of Jackal. He narrowed his eyes as he got ready to charge Natsu.

"We humans can get stronger if we have something to protect." Natsu said with a smile. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. After a few seconds of concentration he covered himself in a cloak of lightning and fire. "Come" Natsu said as he gestured for Jackal to charge him.

Jackal took the bait and charged. He swinged wildly at Natsu trying to hit him. He was trying to get him tagged by his curse. 'WHY CAN'T I HIT HIM!' Jackal thought in frustration.

"LIGHTNING FIRE DRAGON'S FIRING HAMMER!" Natsu shouted as he hit Jackal in the chest with a devastating blow, sending the demon flying into a nearby building.

"Kick his butt Natsu!" Happy shouted with joy. Lucy, Wendy and Carla smiled at his success of turning the tables on the demon.

Jackal stumbled out of the building dropping to his knees. That blow hurt a lot and he knew he couldn't stay in his form longer. He fell out of his transformation and hit the ground with a thud.

"Kyoka, I'm sorry" Jackal said as he started to see his vision cloud. He was going to at least bring this entire town with him. He gave off a soft laugh as he started to glow. "Time for the final trick…" he said.

Natsu collapsed on one knee from exhausting his magic quickly. He looked at Jackal with wide eyes as he seen what he was planning. "Crap i can't move!" he shouted.

"Oh no, he's going to bring us with him!" Lucy thought as she tried to think of a plan. Wendy was about to try and place a wind shield around them when Happy flew past her.

"You won't be hurting anyone else!" Happy said with a smile as he flew at fast speeds into the air with Jackal.

"HAPPY WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Natsu yelled at his blue companion.

"DAMN YOU CAT!" Jackal shouted as him and happy got covered in a massive explosion that lit up the sky. When the smoke cleared Natsu sat there with a shocked expression.

"No way...Happy…" Natsu said in a low voice. Wendy held a hand to her mouth in shock. Lucy and Carla eyes started to mist. After a few more minutes of staring into the sky, a twinkle was seen.

Happy flew down covered in black powder and his fur was all frizzy. Besides that he didn't look fazed by the explosion at all. "Mission accomplished." Happy said with a salute. Everyone smiled to see he was alright.

"We need to go back and report. So much has happened and we need to keep everyone posted." Natsu said as he stood up.

"You're right let's get Michello to the guild. He probably can explain why Tartaros is after them." Lucy said as she summoned Tauros to carry the unconscious man. Everyone nodded in agreement and they started their journey back home.

They all realised that this was the beginning and that they were going to have to be ready for the next step.

Somewhere in a floating castle…

"Looks like these two got their ass handed to them." A woman said with a sigh. She had one a mask covered most of her face. She looked at the bodies of Jackal and Tempester in a glass tube regenerating.

"A couple of idiots that can't even get a simple task done undercover. Looks like we are going to have to interfere." said the voice of another woman. She had dark hair and had horns on her head.

"Kyoka-sama what should i do?" The woman asked her fellow demon. The masked woman named Kyoka sighed and turned to look at another glass tube. Inside the tube was a naked woman who had black hair. She had a black corruption like thing on her right side that was spreading.

"For now i want to wait Seilah, we don't want to get caught off guard. We will wait until these two idiots revive and for Minerva and the other to turn into demons. Once that is completed, we will take a different approach." The masked woman said.

"We are probably going to have to make Fairy Tail surrender forcibly, then get the information we need out of the councilmen to activate face. So for now for we wait patiently." Kyoka finished with a laugh that echoed throughout the room.

So to let you guys know, I'm changing some encounters for the Tartaro's arc. It was a long arc and i don't want to spend most of my time writing the entire arc. I will try my best to include the most important parts. Also there will be a major change in the climax of the arc to help with the story. As you seen now, there is a certain character who is dead and that changes a lot to the story. I'm just replacing him for my own OC that will have a bigger impact on the story.
